Leftovers Served for Christmas Cards

Hello! Today I have 2 Christmas cards both using die cuts and negative space leftover from die cuts. 

The top card uses the negative leftover from white card stock that I cut with a GKD Christmas word die.  I trimmed the white panel and placed over a strip of Glimmering Gold foil that I had left from another project.  I inked the edges with a Pilot Metallic Gold Marker. Added the word Merry that I die cut with a Cheery Lynn die from the same foil. Finished with a Red Velvet card base.  

The second card uses the leftover negative from a strip of the Glimmering Gold Foil that I placed on to a card base of White Cardstock with glue.  I cut a frame from Gold Metallic CS with rectangle dies and attached to the card. Finished with the word Merry cut with Cheery Lynn die from White CS. Edged the finished card with the Pilot Metallic Gold marker.
I created 2 simple and quick cards using leftovers and scraps.

Oxidized Metal Technique.

Welcome!  I have been playing with something  new to me -  Oxidized Metal Technique which I learned about at CAS Mix Up Challenge.  First I tried the technique as shown on a video by Jay Soriano.  She made it look so easy but I failed at my attempt and made a mess.  Don't know what went wrong but my work is still not dry....maybe not enough embossing powder.  But from reading some other posts, it seems that I was not alone in being unsuccessful.

My second try at Oxidized Metal was a bit more successful using Melissa Kerman's video as a guide. I started with a silver metallic card stock and wiped it with StazOn Black Ink and then stamped randomly with a Gina K Design leaf stamp from Skeleton Leaves with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Gold EP.  (The leaves seemed to got lost as I added more to the card later but they are still there.)  I embossed the panel with Sizzix Thanks EF and swiped with Versamark Ink and then sprinkled on Copper EP and Silver EP and a bit more Gold EP and heat embossed.  Then I swiped again with the Black StazOn. For my card, I trimmed a portion of the completed Oxidized Metal panel.  I inked the edges with Pilot Silver Marker and attached to a Bronze CS.  I really liked the way the words pop on the panel. If you look really close you can see the stamped leaves in the background.  

Note: I created other cards with the unused part of the panel to be shared later.

Cheers! Have a Martini!

Hello!  Playing again with some challenges and using old stash.  Found some fun stickers of Martinis and Olives.  Thought this would make a great card for my DH since he likes an occasional Martini with Olives....stirred.  I took a Copper Metallic CS by DCWV and added the stickers and heat embossed some stamps (Repeat Impressions Cheers and MFP Birthday) with Black EP.  Added the white card base.  Cheers to All!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!

Welcome to my blog!  I am celebrating the New Year with a sparkly card that I made with some beautiful shiny paper that was in a Hero Arts kit.  I thought it was perfect teamed with some Champagne in glasses stamped with Repeat Impressions Wine Series stamps.  I created the glasses with Silver Vellum, Versamark ink, and Silver EP and then fussy cut.  Added some bubbles with  Stardust pen.  Added a layer of Silver Mirror CS and Black card base.  I hope you see all the texture and shine in the photo.  The New Year stamp is an old one from my stash.

Holiday Card

Hello!  The inspiration for this Christmas card was the Sketch Challenge at Retro Rubber Challenges.  I did turn the sketch to make a horizontal design.  The tree image from Let It Snow set by  Creative Clear Stamps (dates back to 2009) was inked 3 times with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with Copics.   I decorated the trees with Gold and Silver Metallic ornaments simply made with hole punches.  I used a vertical sentiment from Repeat Impressions Stamps heat embossed with Silver EP.  I edged the panel with Silver Metallic marker before attaching to a white card base.

Chinese Lanterns Make a Sunny Day

Welcome! A third post for today.  As the month nears the end, I am trying to enter some challenges that end soon.  This card was made for the challenge at Power Poppy to use Kraft colored paper for a project.  I decide to use Power Poppy stamps from the Sunny Harvest set.  I tried several mediums on Kraft CS including Distress Oxide Inks and Markers without success and then used pencils to color the image after stamping with Memento Rich Cocoa ink on the Kraft.  This came out to my liking.  I added Glossy Accents to the red berries and used Sakura Clearstar Pen on the Lanterns.  I cut the image with a Spellbinders Die and attached it to a Layer of Metallic Copper CS and then to a layer of Rusty Orange CS and a card base of Green.
 The Power Poppy sentiment was stamped with Versamark and embossed with Copper Metallic EP.  The Copper CS and EP look really good in real life and add a lot to my card.  I wished that they showed better in the photo.

Counting Sheep

Welcome!  I just had to make a card with the cute Sheep stamp and die in the August Hero Arts kit.  I made a Sky background inking a white CS panel with Distress Oxide Ink Faded Jeans and misted it with Metallic Blueberry Mist and Gold Shimmer Mist (from kit) and added dots and stars with a Pilot Metallic Silver marker. I stamped the sentiment Dreaming of You with Versamark and heat embossed with Wow Silver EP. Stamped clouds on Vellum and heat embossed with White Puff EP and die cut.  Stamped the 5 Sheep on white CS with Black ink and die cut.  Attached them with pop-up Glue Dots to the background lauer. Attached to a Metallic (Mirror) Silver card base and finished with a single Star die cut from the same Metallic CS.

Christmas Card for a Friend

Hello! It's never too early to make Christmas cards and I decided to make this one with some Power Poppy stamps...both clear and digital ones.  I printed the wreath from Wreath Succulent & Baubles digital stamps and the Merry Christmas sentiment from Chickadee In Barberry digitals on White CS.  To make this a special Christmas card for a friend, I stamped the friends sentiment from Sassy Succulents clear stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I colored the wreath with Copics G000, G20, G82, BG11, BG05, BG72, and Y28 and added some sparkle and shine with Wink of Stella and Clearstar Pen.   I used a Gold Simmer Metallic CS for the base and a layer of White CS that I colored the edges with Copics to coordinate with colors in the wreath.  This is a quick way to have a coordinating CS that is a perfect match.

Winter Bouquet

Welcome!  My card features Power Poppy digital stamp Winter Pick Me Up colored with Copics,   I cut with a Spellbinders Die and attached to a frame of Bronze Metallic CS cut with Spellbinders Divine Elegance die. This was adhered to a card base of Yellow CS and finished with Gold Rhinestones and a Power Poppy sentiment embossed with Gold EP. This will be great for a winter birthday.  My DH suggested the bronze frame when he saw my working on the layout with a metal die,

Christmas Ornament

Hello!  Today I am playing with Christmas cards.....no time like the present to begin making holiday cards.  I am playing with a pink and silver theme.  I cut the Marianne Christmas Bauble die from Metallic Silver CS and  used a circle of Pink Vellum to back it.  My card base is a Shimmering Pink Pearl CS from Crafter's Companion.  I heat embossed a verse from Penney Black's Wonder Collection with Silver EP. Added some Pink Satin Ribbon to the ornament.

Orange Roses for Fall

Hello!  I was inspired by the colors and the roses in the photo inspiration challenge Fall Floral at Curtain Call.  I chose to use Gina K Stamps Old Country Roses to make roses with Memento Potter's Clay, SU Ruby Red, and Memento Rhubarb Stalk inks for the 3 step stamps.  I fussy cut the blossoms and chose to die cut stems with Memory Box English Rose Stem die cut.  I cut the stems and leaves from GKD Fresh Asparagus and inked them to highlight the details.  I assembled these elements on a background that I made with an EF Woodgrain, Scor-pal, Gray Flannel ink, Creamy Caramel ink, and white CS.  I placed it on a mat of Copper Metallic CS and then a card base of Rusty Orange.  The GKD sentiment was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with Copper EP.  Finished with a bit of Orange Twine.  I must admit that the photo does not do justice to my card...did not capture the depth and texture.....it looks so much better in real life.  Trust me!

Birthday Card with Gold Accents

Hello!  I am taking a break from holiday cards to make a birthday card using the Sketch Challenge #N2515 from The House That Stamps Built.  I heat embossed a Birthday Sentiment from Repeat Impressions with Gold EP and attached to mats of Gold Metallic CS and Blue CS.  I use the same Blue CS as the card base and layered with a Gold Foil accented Pattern Paper.  I selected 4 colors of Looped Ribbon ( from colors in the paper design) to use with Gold Metallic ribbon to complete the card.

Peace on Earth

As promised, I am back with another Ornament Christmas card using Blue and Silver.  Again I was inspired by the challenges at Merry Monday and Simon Says.   I featured only one ornament stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with Zing Silver EP on DCWV Blue Foil CS.  Stamps are from Spellbinders Heirloom Ornament set.  I cut out the Ornament and attached to a White Glossy CS embossed with Cuttlebug Forest Branches.  I added a Silver Pine Branch cut with Impression Obsession die and some Blue Ribbon.   This was attached to a White Card Base and a mat of the Blue Foil CS.

Blue and Silver Ornaments

Hello!  I was really inspired by the Merry Monday challenge this week.  I immediately began my card by gathering Silver Metallic CS, DCWV Blue Foil CS, and Glossy White CS.  I cut Pine branches with Impression Obsession die  and stamped the Ornaments with Spellbinders Heirloom set using Versamark and Silver EP. I fussy cut the Ornaments and arranged all the elements on a White Card Base using Blue Satin Ribbon to hang the ornaments attached with Pop-Up Dots.  My DH helped me decide the layout.  I love the shine and sparkle of my card.

Sparkle and Shine

 

Hello!  This week Tuesday Morning Sketches is sponsored by Doodle Pantry so I made this card with the Vintage Ornament digital and sentiment from a Doodle Pantry file. I dressed it up with a lot of sparkle and shine using Gold Metallic CS, Gold Metallic Pen, Gold Jelli-pen, Glittery CS's, Ribbon with Gold Metallic Threads, Clear-star Pen and Wink of Stella Pen.  I also used Darice EF Chevron to give texture to the Gold Metallic Background and Die Cuts and Punches for the shiny flower.

Deep Blue Sea

Hello!  This card is for the Mix It Up Monday Challenge - Over the Deep Blue Sea at Stamp TV.  Tricia has asked us to make a Water Themed Card.   We can use nautical images, rain, snow... ANYTHING that has water!  Since I do not have many Nautical Theme Stamps from GKD (note to self....buy some GKD nautical stamps), I had to stretch my resources for this card.  I selected a verse from Melanie's Gifts from the Sea set and seashells from her A Year of Borders and combined them with a water looking Pattern from GKD Poolside paper pad to create this water themed design.  Other supplies used were: GKD Soft Sand CS, Metallic Copper CS, Versamark, Copper EP, SU Blue ink, and Nesties Label 4 Dies.  The embossed verse was recessed under the copper frame.

Autumn Is A Second Spring

 

Hello!  It is certainly feeling and looking like Fall.  Today I am sharing a fall card using an old PSX leaf stamp from 2000 that was one of the first leaf stamps that I bought. I created the background layer using the emboss resist technique with Memento inks, Versamark, clear embossing powder and the leaf stamp.  Starting with a card base of orangey red, I layered a mat of Copper Metallic CS, and then the layer of leaves.  I finished with a Verse from GKD "A Year of Leaves" stamped with Versamark and embossed with Copper EP.   I matted this with a die cut of the Copper Metallic CS. Spellbinders Dies used for the verse and mat.

'57 Chevy

Hello! I am having fun making cards with cars as my focus...a perfect theme for cards for Father's Day. I think I will share this with my 90 year old uncle who has a love of great cars. I am posting this Father's Day card using the sketch of a Chevy from Digi Sketch Challenge and a digital image from Doodle Pantry. I used a pre-color digi  that made this an easy card to create.

Two Different Cards with the Same Stamps

Hello!  Using reinkers and a pad of paper towels, I created these 2 cards by squirting 3 colors of ink on to the pad and then using that to stamp my leaves at different angles. I used textured Green CS as the card base and a mat of Copper Metallic CS beneath the image stamped on Ivory CS. These are both for this month's Splitcoaststampers Hope You Can Cling To campaign to support Breast Cancer Awareness. The top card is for Lori's Challenge Peaceful Leaves (HYCCT1307) to use a leaf or leaves on your card. You may use a single leaf, as a background, the leaves on a tree, in a flower bouquet or anything you can think of! Read more about her challenge here. I love the colorful falling leaves at this time of the year and let that inspire this card as well as the second one.  The bottom card is for Rebecca's Challenge The Strength of Steel (HYCCT1309). To celebrate that strength, show off your metal.  I used copper metal dragonfly brads and copper metallic cardstock for my show of metal. Read more about this challenge here.
