Easy Christmas Card

Hello! I have not posted for a few days.  I am sharing a simple Christmas card that I made with Repeat Impressions stamps.  I stamped the snowflake and circular sentiment with Versamark ink on a Blue cardstock and heat embossed with Wow Silver EP.  I inked the edges with a Silver Metallic Pilot Pen and attached to a White card base.  Quick and easy!

Snow Bunny

Hello! It's a snowy morning here in Ohio so I thought this would be an appropriate card to post.  I printed the Snow Bunny digi from my stash of Meljens images on white CS and colored the cute image with Copics and a bit of snow with a Snow Marker for texture. Added some stickles to her fuzzy hat and metallic silver to her buttons.  Trimmed the image with a rectangle die and attached to mat of pink CS, layer of striped pattern paper(old SU), and card base of the GKD pink CS. Finished with heat embossed sentiment (old Creative  Clear Stamp) using Silver EP.  I chose this image because of her long scarf.

Pink Poinsettias

Hello! As I clean up my work desk, I find pieces of cards that I started and set aside.  As a goal this year, I am trying to use some of the discarded pieces and complete the projects.  This card was a result of finishing the stamped image using GKD's  Festive Frame by Melanie.  I had stamped and embossed the image with silver EP on white CS and left it at that.  Today, I trimmed the image, colored it with some Copics using pastel colors, and attached it to a patterned paper card base.  One less discarded image. The paper is from a pack that I just had to have when I found it on sale many moons ago but only used a couple of sheets. Time to use that too.

Magical Christmas

Hello!  I have a quick post to enter the Anything Goes Challenge D2519 at The House That Stamps Built.   I used a Sentiment and Snowflake Stamps from Repeat Impressions that I heat embossed with Silver EP on a wintery blue card stock. I added a die cut from a scrap of almost vellum paper ( savaged from a magazine) cut with Precious Marieke Winterfun border die.  Also added some of the pieces leftover from the die cut.  Thought this made a rather magical card!

Swans-a-Swimming

Hello! I hope everyone is enjoying a great holiday season and had a Merry Christmas day.  Thought I'd drop by with another one of my Twelve Days of Christmas series cards that I have not posted.  This features swans -a-swimming but I only have 2 of the 7.  The other 5 must have swum away out of site. I stamped the swans on 2 panels of white card stock and fussy cut one set of the swans to attach to the blue fiber cloth that I used for the background on the other panel of white cardstock.  Added some silver embossed snowflakes and stamped sentiments.  Used silver metallic CS for the card base. Stamps are from a free stamp set with Creative Stamping Magazine.

(The blue fiber cloth is what is used as a pot cover for plants)

Merry and Bright

Welcome!  I created this card using colors from the Creative Confetti challenge shown below.  I stamped the Poinsettia image with Memento Gray Flannel ink and colored with Copics using blues, greens, and gray.  Added some sparkle with Stardust Pen and Pilot Silver Metallic Marker.  Stamped the sentiment with Versamark and heat embossed with WOW Silver EP. Stamps are from Power Poppy Poinsettia set.  Finished with Green card base and a mat of Blue CS.

Snow for the Holidays and More

Hello!  Looks like snow is on the way.  I have another card featuring snowflakes made with Gina K Designs stamps and dies from Seasonal Sentiments set. Heat embossed the snowflakes withSilver EP on White CS. Popped up with foam tape. The sentiment embossed with White EP on a GKD Blue CS panel is from Holiday Wreath Builder set. Inked the edges of the panel with Pilot Silver Metallic Marker. Added snow to the background with Snow Marker. Used White CS card base.

More Oxidized Metal Technique

Hello!  As promised I am back with 2 more cards made using leftover portions of a panel that I created with the Oxidized Metal technique.  Please check this post for all the details on the technique that I used. For the above thank you card I used a Black card base to which I stamped the leaf from Gina K Designs Skeleton Leaves and embossed that with Gold EP. I added the leftover strip at the bottom edge. This time you can see the leaf that I stamped before adding embossing and more embossing powder to the silver paper.

I used GKD Fired Brick CS as the base for this card.  I embossed 2 corners with a Sizzix EF that I  have never used. The flower design seemed to pick up the flower from the leftover strip of Oxidized Metal panel that I added.  I inked the edges of the strip with Pilot Gold Metallic marker before attaching.

Oxidized Metal Technique.

Welcome!  I have been playing with something  new to me -  Oxidized Metal Technique which I learned about at CAS Mix Up Challenge.  First I tried the technique as shown on a video by Jay Soriano.  She made it look so easy but I failed at my attempt and made a mess.  Don't know what went wrong but my work is still not dry....maybe not enough embossing powder.  But from reading some other posts, it seems that I was not alone in being unsuccessful.

My second try at Oxidized Metal was a bit more successful using Melissa Kerman's video as a guide. I started with a silver metallic card stock and wiped it with StazOn Black Ink and then stamped randomly with a Gina K Design leaf stamp from Skeleton Leaves with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Gold EP.  (The leaves seemed to got lost as I added more to the card later but they are still there.)  I embossed the panel with Sizzix Thanks EF and swiped with Versamark Ink and then sprinkled on Copper EP and Silver EP and a bit more Gold EP and heat embossed.  Then I swiped again with the Black StazOn. For my card, I trimmed a portion of the completed Oxidized Metal panel.  I inked the edges with Pilot Silver Marker and attached to a Bronze CS.  I really liked the way the words pop on the panel. If you look really close you can see the stamped leaves in the background.  

Note: I created other cards with the unused part of the panel to be shared later.

Winter Scene

Hello! No snow in Ohio, but it is on the way but I hope not too soon.  For now, I am sharing some snow on my card.  I created this winter scene with a Tree stamp from GKD Merry and Bright set that I heat embossed with Silver EP on GKD Blue CS.  Added snowflakes (embossed with White EP) and sentiment ( embossed with Silver EP  3 times) using GKD stamps from Holiday Wreath Builder. Added more dots of snow to sky with Snow Marker.  Attached strips of watercolor paper to bottom edge for snow banks with texture.  Used Frosty Stickles to tree for more glitter (hard to see in photo).  Used white card base.

Take Flight

Hello! Today I have a card made with a Dragonfly stamp and die from Creative Dies.  I stamped the dragonfly on a leftover background paper that I created with Versamark and heat embossed with WOW Silver EP.  I cut with the die and attached to a background panel that I created with White CS and Distress Oxide inks.  I stamped with a GKD sentiment from Take Flight set dated 2009 using white Hero Arts ink and White EP.  Finished with a coordinated Blue card base.

Joyful Tulips

 Welcome to the studio!  Today I am sharing a Joy card that I made which was a joy to make.  I used  Penny Black stamps from the Friendship Flowers set.  I stamped the tulips twice with Versamark ink on watercolor paper and embossed with Silver EP.  I water colored the images with a water brush and Distress Oxide Inks Picked Raspberry, Peeled Paint, and Iced Spruce.  I stamped sentiments on the outside and inside with Peeled Paint.   I used the second image for the inside  but fussy cut only a portion of the image.
I assembled the Joy card using the image panels, Green CS for the smaller fold, Pink CS for the base card, and Striped Pattern Paper (from stash). I used a metal brad to keep the card closed.  I decorated the left inside with a Vine punched from the Green CS ( Martha Stewart punch) and attached Silver ribbon to the striped panel on the right side. (See photo of open card below).  The silver ribbon picked up the silver from the embossing which shows best in the lower photo.

Christmas in Hot July

Hello!  What better way to stay cool during this heat wave...  thinking of snow, snowmen, and Christmas?  So that resulted in another Christmas Card!  I used one of my fave snowman stamps from Flourishes Warm Winter Wishes set by Marcella Hawley.  I stamped him with Tuxedo Black ink on white CS and colored with Copics.  Added some sparkly Diamond Stickles to the snowman and Embossed the Background with Clouds using a Darice EF.  Added some "snow swirls" to the foreground with another Darice EF which actually is a woodgrain design turn horizontally.  ( this was another layer of white CS that I cut and embossed for a snow bank).  Sponged and inked some blue on the sky and snow.  Finished with a Power Poppy sentiment from Poinsettias set heat embossed with Silver EP and a  card base of GKD Blue CS.

Silvery Holidays

Welcome!  The snow has finally ended outside but it is snowing on this card that was inspired by the challenge at Just For Fun Rubber Stamps, especially the card made by April on the DT.  I chose to use the same stamp that she used -JFF Tree Line stamp - but I only used a portion of the stamp to make a vertical card.  Using Versamark ink, I stamped the trees and a GKD sentiment on Navy CS and heat embossed with Silver EP.  Added some snow with Liquid pearls.  Edged the panel with Pilot Silver Marker ( often do this to eliminate the weight of  an extra layer of CS) and attached to a card base of Navy CS.  I won't get points for Design Originality but love the end results done in Blue and Silver.

I have another Christmas card to add to my stash for 2019.  This was created with GKD stamps from Merry and Bright set and GKD Powder Blue CS.  I stamped the image and verse with Versamark and heat embossed with WOW silver EP. Edged the panel with Pilot Silver marker and attached to a card base.  A Clean and Simple design!

Playing with Bokeh

 Hello!  I tried something new today in the studio.  I used the Bokeh technique in making this card.  That is giving a visual look of out of focus areas as in a photograph. I have seen many cards and tutorials with this technique and thought I should give it a try.  I was inspired to so by the January challenge at CAS Mix It Up Card challenge which is the Bokeh Technique + Stamping + our choice.  I started with a blank panel of white cardstock and sponged it with 3 DOI Peacock Feathers, Broken China, and Faded Jeans. Using a template that I made with circle dies and a piece of thin acrylic, I sponged on various circles with Hero Arts White ink. This is one of those techniques when you are not sure when to stop or add more.  I stopped when my instinct told I had enough ink and circles.  With my background completed, I trimmed it to the size needed and layered on card base and cardstock layer of Turquoise and Lavender. But first I double stamped a GKD sentiment from You Have My Heart set with Versamark and heat embossed with WOW Silver EP.  I edged the Bokeh layer with a Metallic Silver Pilot Marker before attaching to the card.  Finished with some silver sequins.
I am very pleased with my first try with Bokeh and hope to do another card using water coloring and Bokeh. Checkout more information about Bokeh at CAS Mix It Up Card Challenge.

Snowflakes Falling

Hello!  Today I have 2 versions of a Christmas card using Repeat Impressions Snow Flakes stamps and a sentiment stamp from Ornaments and Snow Globes series.   I stamped the Snowflakes and sentiment with Versamark ink on Blue CS and heat embossed with WOW Silver EP.  I inked the edge of the panel with Pilot Silver Metallic Marker and attached to white card base.  Love the details of the snowflake stamps with the sparkly silver embossing.  

For the second card, I repeated all the steps in the above card but added Ultra-fine Crystal Glitter on the panel with double side adhesive paper.  It's a bit hard to see the stamped elements in the photo. But it's a very glittery card!

Playing with Glitter

 Hello!  I am not one to use glitter very often.  In fact, I try to avoid it all together because of the mess.  But after seeing some cards covered completely with glitter, I had to give it a try.  I used tree stamps from Gina K Designs Northwoods 2 set that I stamped with Versamark on Navy CS and heat embossed with Silver EP. I then used double side adhesive paper on the panel and added Crystal Glitter to cover the entire area. Used a Swiffer dust cloth to clean up the mess. Placed the shiny scene on a Silver CS mat and the a Navy card base.  Finished with a Hero Arts sentiment stamped with Silver EP on  die cut of white CS.

I made a second card with the same tree stamps, Silver embossing powder, and Navy CS but without the glitter.  I added snow with Liquid Pearls and edged the panel with Silver Metallic Pen before attaching to a white card base.  The sentiment from a magazine freebie was heat embossed with Silver EP.

Warm Winter Wishes

Hello! Back with more Buttons.  This time I have created a holiday card with a Button Snowman.  I created a background with Blue CS stamped and embossed with Silver Snowflakes( GKD stamps).  Trimmed White CS to make a snowy hill that I stamped and embossed with Warm Winter Wishes (GKD stamp) and added some Frosted Lace stickles for a bit of sparkle. The Snowman is 2 buttons from my button stash, backed with black cardstock scrap, topped with a hat that I drew and fussy cut, and wrapped with a warm scarf of ribbon.  Used a White card base to finish.  Fun card to build!

Magical Snow Globe

Hello!  Cannot believe it is the first of November and snow will soon be here.  The Christmas card shared today was created with Repeat Impressions stamps from the Snow Globes and Ornaments* series.  I used the sketch from the House That Stamps Built challenge shown below.  I stamped the globe with Memento Gray Flannel and Nautical Blue inks and colored it with Memento Markers and Copics.  Added some snow with Snow Marker.  I added glossy accents to the base to give dimension.  Other supplies: White CS, Light and Dark Navy CS, Pilot Silver Metallic Marker (for edges of layers), Versamark ink, Silver EP, Stardust Pen, Snowflake EF, Sentiment, Snow globe, and Snowflakes stamps all Repeat Impression.  Fun card!

Note: Whenever I type the word "ornament"* I remember that is the word that I could not spell in a spelling bee and caused me to lose. That was a long time ago.
