Watering Can with Lilacs

Hello! Thanks for stopping by, Today I am sharing a card that I created for the Double D Challenge Something with a Handle. I made this a couple of days ago and forgot to post until today.  I used stamps and dies from a Hero Arts kit from July 2017.  The watering can was stamped on and cut from silver metallic CS and I used white CS and Copics for the Lilacs,  The sentiment was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with Wow Silver EP. Used a shiny textured green CS from Bazzil for the background which made it hard to photograph because of the reflection.

Embossing with Dies

Hello! It is fun to use dies for embossing and it is interesting what you can do with that technique.  To make a card with die embossing, I chose an older die from Cheery Lynn, the first one I bought from that company. For the top card, I embossed the large Fanciful Flourish die along with Cheery Lynn Thank You dies on a panel of White cardstock. I sponged it with DOI Vintage Photo to achieve an antique distressed look.  I stamped some flowers on pink card stock with Memento Pink ink using a Heartfelt Creations Rose stamp. I fussy cut the flowers and attached with foam tape. Attached to a pink card base to finish.

I decided to make another card but made it more CAS with out the background inked giving more white space.  For this one I only used the Fanciful Flourish die for embossing and stamped the GKD Sentiment with Memento Brown ink. I stamped the same flower - 2 directly on the card and one that I stamped on white Cardstock and fussy cut. I stamped the roses with same pink ink  and colored with pencil and markers.  I distressed the edge of the panel with DOI Walnut Stain and used a brown card base.

Recycled Box

Hello!  Taking time out to post a card that I made for the Challenge DCC S220 at The House That Stamps Built which is to use a recycled item on your creation.  This was easy for me to do since I save a lot of items in my studio.  I pulled out a Kleenex box that I had saved because I like the pattern on the box....they really use some nice designs on those boxes. I was also inspired by Donna's card that she made with a recycled Kleenex box.  I trimmed a portion of the box, inked the edges with a gray copic marker and attached to a white card base.  I stamped the Repeat Impressions stamp- a large "Thanks"- on a scrap of white cardstock with a Memento Gray ink  and embossed with Clear EP.  Attached to the card. I stamped and embossed the Repeat Impressions words "for all you do" on the large yellow circle in the pattern to finish.

Spring Azaleas

Hello! I created this card for The Creative Confetti Challenge - Flowers for the Front Line with stamps from Power Poppy  Azalea and Vibrant Thanks sets. I stamped the image and words on white card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and heat embossed with Clear EP.  I colored the image with Copic Markers and used a Glaze Marker on the Stamens. I attached to a background of patterned paper from my stash and a card base of white card stock. Love this azalea stamp....such a great spring bloom.  I plan to send this card to the staff at the Life Card Center where my Mother is a resident.  Thankfully no one there has been sick with the virus.

More Oxidized Metal Technique

Hello!  As promised I am back with 2 more cards made using leftover portions of a panel that I created with the Oxidized Metal technique.  Please check this post for all the details on the technique that I used. For the above thank you card I used a Black card base to which I stamped the leaf from Gina K Designs Skeleton Leaves and embossed that with Gold EP. I added the leftover strip at the bottom edge. This time you can see the leaf that I stamped before adding embossing and more embossing powder to the silver paper.

I used GKD Fired Brick CS as the base for this card.  I embossed 2 corners with a Sizzix EF that I  have never used. The flower design seemed to pick up the flower from the leftover strip of Oxidized Metal panel that I added.  I inked the edges of the strip with Pilot Gold Metallic marker before attaching.

Oxidized Metal Technique.

Welcome!  I have been playing with something  new to me -  Oxidized Metal Technique which I learned about at CAS Mix Up Challenge.  First I tried the technique as shown on a video by Jay Soriano.  She made it look so easy but I failed at my attempt and made a mess.  Don't know what went wrong but my work is still not dry....maybe not enough embossing powder.  But from reading some other posts, it seems that I was not alone in being unsuccessful.

My second try at Oxidized Metal was a bit more successful using Melissa Kerman's video as a guide. I started with a silver metallic card stock and wiped it with StazOn Black Ink and then stamped randomly with a Gina K Design leaf stamp from Skeleton Leaves with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Gold EP.  (The leaves seemed to got lost as I added more to the card later but they are still there.)  I embossed the panel with Sizzix Thanks EF and swiped with Versamark Ink and then sprinkled on Copper EP and Silver EP and a bit more Gold EP and heat embossed.  Then I swiped again with the Black StazOn. For my card, I trimmed a portion of the completed Oxidized Metal panel.  I inked the edges with Pilot Silver Marker and attached to a Bronze CS.  I really liked the way the words pop on the panel. If you look really close you can see the stamped leaves in the background.  

Note: I created other cards with the unused part of the panel to be shared later.

Card with Bark!

Hello!  I'm back with another entry for this week's Challenge at Modsquad which is to use something from nature on a card.  We have had this piece of tree bark laying around awhile and I told my DH not to throw it way because some day, maybe, I would use it some how.  So this challenge came along and I put a piece of the bark in my design. (I was thinking of seeing pumpkins on display in outdoor areas when I came up with this scene of pumpkins sitting on what might be a log or stump.)  I stamped the Pumpkins from GKD Always Autumn set with Memento Tangelo ink on white CS. I colored the pumpkins with Copic Markers. I also stamped a caterpillar and several acorns using stamps from GKD A Year of Leaves set with DOI Walnut stain. I fussy cut these items after coloring with Copics. I also stamped the sentiment and 2 acorns directly on the image panel with same ink. I arranged the small piece of bark under the pumpkins and attached the caterpillar and the cut out acorns. Finished with a card base of GKD Charcoal Brown CS.  After making a photo of the card, I decided the card had too much bright white space and went back and added some spatters using Faded Burlap DOI to soften the background. (Covered Pumpkins with masking)

Sending Thanks with a Bouquet

Welcome to my studio!  One of my favorite fall flowers is Sunflowers and I love to color them.  I used the Sunflower digital image from Power Poppy to create a bouquet of Sunflowers and  printed in a sepia color on watercolor paper. I colored the image with a water brush using Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber, Peeled Paint, Walnut Stain, and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide inks. Stamped the sentiment from Power Poppy Vibrant Thanks set with Walnut Stain ink.  Decided to keep the design clean and simple. Recycled a paper from an envelope (Hallmark card) for the background....was the perfect color and has a slight texture. Finished with a card base of GKD Chocolate Brown CS.  Love this without any added embellishments.

Hello!  Back with another card made with the Maple Leaf stamp from GKD A Year of Leaves that I stamped on water color paper with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with Copper EP.  I colored the leaf with a water brush using Distress Oxide Inks Peeled Paint, Candied Apple, Fried Brick, Wild Honey, and Fossilized Amber.  I stamped the sentiment from GKD Always Autumn set 4 times with the Versamark ink and heat embossed with the Copper EP.  Used GKD Faded Brick CS for the base.

Leaf of Many Colors

Welcome! Fall temperatures have arrived and we've turned on the heat. I would enjoy a few more days of 70 degree weather.  I made this card with thoughts of falling leaves.  I used an older Maple Leaf stamp from GKD A Year of Leaves that I stamped on water color paper with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with Copper EP.  I colored the leaf with a water brush using Distress Oxide Inks Peeled Paint,Candied Apple, Fried Brick, Wild Honey, and Fossilized Amber.  I added some foil strips using double sided tape with Designer Foil from Clearsnap.  The GKD sentiment was also stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with the Copper EP.  I attached the water color panel to a card base of Copper Metallic CS to finish.

Thank You with Poppies

Hello! I have another CAS card today!  I am  playing with some challenges to use only one third of the space of a card.  I die cut a white panel with Memory Box Darling Poppies and then also cut from Green CS and twice from a 2 sided patterned paper from First Edition Blank Canvas pad.  I attached the cut panel to a card base of the Floral Patterned paper and then filled in with the solid and print flower.  Stamped the sentiment from GKD stamps with Memento green ink. Clean and easy!

(To determine if I use only one third of the space,  I cut a piece of paper 5.5" x 4.25" and fold into a third of that and hold over my card either vertically or horizontally to plan my design.)

Falling Leaves

Hello!  It is almost fall and time for more fall theme cards.  I have used another patterned paper from Gina K Designs paper pack Sun-Kissed Autumn. I used a Leaf stamp from GKD Always Autumn that coordinates with the leaf design in the paper.  I stamped the single leaf and sentiment (from Skeleton Leaves set) with Memento Rich Cocoa on ivory CS and colored with Copics.  I trimmed this with a circle die and attached to a circle of Orange CS. Assembled the card with Green Card Base, mat of Orange CS, green grosgrain ribbon from stash, and the image.

Paper Towel with Poppies.

Morning! I am always interested in trying new techniques and using new products for making cards.  For this card I am using Paper Towels which I had on my work station.   I was inspired by Loll's challenge at CAS Mix Up challenge to use/recycle inky paper towels.  For my card I used a paper towel inked with Blue  Distress Oxide inks and transferred colors on to a White CS.  Check out Loll's video for instructions here.  Before I added the flower you could see part of the word "Bounty" in the paper towel imprint. But I am not advertising any particular towel, just what I had and was not paying attention to what section of the towel I used.  To finish the card I added some die cut flowers- Memory Box Darling Poppies- from Yellow and Green CS scraps.  Stamped the GKD sentiment with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink. Attached to a Blue Card base.

Vintage Roses

Taking time out to create a vintage style card using Gina K Designs Rose Bouquet stamp. Stamped the image with Memento Toffee Crunch ink on Ivory GKD Cardstock and colored with Copics.  Cut the image with an oval die and distressed the edges with DOI Antique Linen and stamped GKD sentiment with same DOI.  Attached this and an antique pink satin ribbon to a Ivory Paper Doily(from stash) that I wrapped around the Dark Sage Card Base.  I think the doily, colors, and ribbon are suitable for a vintage card.

Thank You with Roses

Hello!  It's been about 2 months since I've posted a card.  We have been away to warm Captiva Island, Florida and away from my studio and card making.  I am trying to get back my mojo by creating a floral card for some March challenges.

I stamped a Rose from Gina K Designs Rose Bouquet with GKD Black Amalgam ink on GKD white card stock and colored the image with Copics.  I attached this to a green card base and added corner die cuts cut with Spellbinders Regal Frame dies. Also used a sentiment die and stamped with a GKD stamp from Skeleton Leaves.  I adhered all the die cuts with GKD Connect glue which is the best glue ever!  Great for delicate pieces since you can control the amount of glue dispersed from the tube.

Monochrome with Style

Hello! I have a very simple thank you card stamped with an old pumpkin stamp that I have had many years.  I think it is a PSX but it has no markings on the stamp.  I have always colored this image and this is the first time I stamped it and just let the stamp details show through in a monochromatic design.   I used SU Bravo Burgundy ink on Ivory CS for both the image and Gina K sentiment.  I placed on a card base in the same color tones.  Simple but elegant.

Bountiful Basket

Welcome!  Today I am playing with an old stamp by Rubber Stampede called Bountiful Basket dated 1995.  I think I must have got this stamp from a garage sale many years ago around 2009?  And I do not think that I have ever used it.  I stamped the basket with a light color ink Memento Toffee Crunch and colored with Copics.  This stamp has mostly flat surfaces not line stamping so it is a bit difficult to color.  I am sharing photos of both the wood block and the rubber stamp.  It is interesting how stamps have changed from being on wood blocks and now just clear stamps.  The old wood stamps are a piece of art in themselves and great items to collect if you have the room.  

Back to my card....stamped the image on white CS and colored with Copics and did some highlights with Pencils.  Used some metal brads on the basket for a bit of texture and dimension and to use some of my stash of embellishments.  Added a sentiment from Power Poppy (2014) with DOI Vintage Photo and distressed the edges of the panel with DOI Wild Honey and simply attached to a Gold Yellow card base.
