Frosty Water Color

A snowy day inspires a frosty card! I used an old Flourishes stamp set Warm Winter Wishes designed by Marcella Hawley to create this.  I stamped the snowman on watercolor paper with a gray ink from Memento and water colored with a water brush using DOI Broken China, Salty Ocean, Tumbled Glass, Walnut Stain, and Fossilized Amber.  Used black marker for eyes and mouth. Trimmed the image with a Spellbinders die and attached to a mat of Blue CS and a card base of White CS.

It's Cold Outside!

Baby it's cold outside!  It looks almost like my card and the inspiration graphic from Retro Rubber shown below when I look out the window.. When I saw this challenge, I immediately thought of an old stamp in my stash from Mark's Finest Papers(no longer in business).  The stamp set was called Ice and Snow and dated 2011. I inked the stamp with DOI Walnut Stain and stamped it on White CS.  I cleaned the stamp and inked the top portion of the stamp with Versamark ink and heat embossed with White EP to get the effect of snow on the limbs of the trees.  I then taped off the scene and sponged the sky with Memento Summer Sky ink...loved the wintery sky that resulted.  I liked the way that I let one of the upper branches extend above the scene. (hard to see) I then added some snow on the ground, on and around the trees with a Snow Marker.  Love the effect of heating this element up and getting texture in the scene.  Stamped an appropriate sentiment with the same Walnut Stain ink.  Trimmed the panel and attached to a Gray Blue CS that matches the color of the sky.  I was not aiming to copy the scene below but it came very close.
Challenges:
Addicted to Stamps and More: #372 Make Your Mark-used stamping, sponging with masking, Snow Marker
CAS on Friday: Challenge #171 Winter. I used only one main image.  Hope I have enough empty space to qualify as CAS.

Snow Bunny

Hello! It's a snowy morning here in Ohio so I thought this would be an appropriate card to post.  I printed the Snow Bunny digi from my stash of Meljens images on white CS and colored the cute image with Copics and a bit of snow with a Snow Marker for texture. Added some stickles to her fuzzy hat and metallic silver to her buttons.  Trimmed the image with a rectangle die and attached to mat of pink CS, layer of striped pattern paper(old SU), and card base of the GKD pink CS. Finished with heat embossed sentiment (old Creative  Clear Stamp) using Silver EP.  I chose this image because of her long scarf.

Making Two at a Time

Hello! I have been playing with a new stamp Tall Birch from Gina K Designs and created 2 similar birthday cards.   I stamped the trees using 2 different inks on white CS ….once with Memento Rich Cocoa(top) and again with Distress Oxide Walnut Stain(below). I used a Snow Marker to add dimension to both scenes and make it wintery.  Added some die cut squirrels from my stash for fun and stamped each with GKD birthday sentiments. Used white card base and brown mat on the top one and just a simple brown card base for the second.  These cards will be great for winter birthdays.

Magical Christmas

Hello!  I have a quick post to enter the Anything Goes Challenge D2519 at The House That Stamps Built.   I used a Sentiment and Snowflake Stamps from Repeat Impressions that I heat embossed with Silver EP on a wintery blue card stock. I added a die cut from a scrap of almost vellum paper ( savaged from a magazine) cut with Precious Marieke Winterfun border die.  Also added some of the pieces leftover from the die cut.  Thought this made a rather magical card!

It's Cold Outside

Welcome to my warm and cozy studio! But it is cold outside! 3 degrees but feels like -6! But that is warmer than yesterday! If you go out, don't forget your mittens to stay warm.  My CAS card sends that message today.  I stamped the mittens with a Flourishes stamp from Warm Winter Wishes set by Marcella Hawley with DOI  Salty Ocean and colored with a pencil and added some sparkle with Crystal Stickles.  Sentiment stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with WOW Silver EP. The straight line was stamped with a GKD stamp using Versamark and also heat embossed with Wow Silver EP. I edged the white CS panel with Pilot Silver Marker before attaching to GKD Powder Blue CS.

Winter Snow Globe

Hello!  I was not sure where I was going with this card but wanted to use a Repeat Impressions Snow Globe stamp for the challenge at The House That Stamps Built.  I used the Lighthouse Snowglobe stamp but modified it by eliminating Santa and his sleigh.  I first stamped the globe on Vellum and heat embossed with Clear EP.  I stamped it again with Black ink on white CS and a second time with Memento Nautical Blue( coloring over Santa).  I colored in the image stamped in Black ink with Pencils. I trimmed both of these images and layered under the image on Vellum.  I die cut a circle opening on the Yellow Card base and added the layered snow globe underneath.  I stamped the base of the globe on a Wood Grain Patterned Paper with Versamark and heat embossed with Brown EP.  I fussy cut the base and attached on the card front below the Winter Scene in the globe. Stamped a sentiment from my stash with DOI Walnut Stain and added some die cut vellum snowflakes.
I could have used acrylic instead of vellum and just stamped and layered the stamped scene under that, but the heat embossed vellum gives a nice texture in real life.

Sparkly Trees

Hello! How quickly November went by!  My card today was made with a lot of glitter!  I used a tree stamp from Gina K Designs Northwoods set which I actually stamped twice in the background with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Clear EP but that layer got lost when I stamped the trees with green Memento inks in the foreground and added a layer of Crystal Glitter using a double sided adhesive paper.  So much for my original design.....the card evolved into another look.  To the glittery image,I added a frame of green handmade textured paper from my stash and adhered to a white card base.  Finished with sentiment embossed with silver EP that I fussy cut.

Winter Wonderland

Hello!  I have had an idea  for the challenge at The Library for awhile since the photo was posted on October 28 but never executed until this morning.  I had immediately thought of an old stamp of a winter scene  that would tie in with the book The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.  My card depicts the entrance into the snowy winter forest of Narnia with a lamppost. This is where the 4 children find the lion, the rightful ruler and king of Narnia, who I included in my card.
I stamped the Winter Scene stamp (Mark's Finest Papers Ice & Snow) on white card stock with DOI Frayed Burlap and added snow and glitter with a couple different Stickles, Liquid Pearls. and a Snow Marker.  The crystal stickles gave a golden glow to the trees and snow.  I wanted to have a feel of fantasy to the scene.  The lamppost was stamped with a Hero Arts stamp and the sentiment was from MFP set Ice and Snow. Added the fussy cut lion that I printed from Silhouette with My Cameo.  Other supplies: Versamark Ink, Gold EP, Metallic Gold CS(base), Memento Black Ink, Yellow Copic.

Cabin in the Winter Woods

Hello!  We have had a brief reprieve from cold weather....can you believe it was in the 60's in Ohio this weekend?   But we should have more cold like I'm capturing in this card.  I stamped Repeat Impressions Cabin stamp on white CS with Memento Rich Cocoa.  I then used masking and stamped the trees with GKD stamp from Northwoods 2( just received this with my purchase using the GC that I just won) using Memento ink London Fog.  Sponged some Memento Gray Flannel ink on sky and added some Perfect Pearls to create a wintry looking sky.   Finished with a Get Well sentiment from GKD Scripty Sayings 2 in Rich Cocoa ink. And also added some Liquid Pearls for snow. Used Wine mat and Gray Card Base.

Snowfall

Welcome!  I am staying with a Cold theme in today's card.  I stamped Repeat Impressions' Pine Forest on a Water Color panel with Distress Inks and used a water brush to color in details and sky. I used a Flourishes sentiment with another Distress Ink and added snow fall with pearl drops.   I wanted my scene to reflect a snowfall that was just beginning. I die cut the image and placed on a card base embossed with a Darice Snowflake EF.

It's Cold Outside

Second Post Today:
Hello! Here in Ohio, it is very cold!!   More reason to stay inside and make cards in my warm studio!
I printed off  a digital image, already colored, from Dearie Dolls....just love all her cute images.  I placed the image on a mat of red CS and heat embossed a sentiment from Creative Clear stamps.   I tried something new by embossing the front of my Blue card base  with Cuttlebug EF Snowflakes using Versamark ink on the folder and then heat embossed with Snowflake Embossing Tinsel with glitter ( same as used on sentiment).  Of course I had glitter everywhere and I had just cleaned my studio. But I loved the cold, snowy effect that I achieved.  I also added some of the tinsel to the image by using a Versamark pen on the snowflakes.
Tip: To clean up the glitter, use a Swifter cloth to pick it up.

Challenges:
Cards In Envy: Snow Birds card challenge. Must have one bird on card.
Paper Sweeties Challenge: January Photo Inspiration shown below. Inspired by the snowmen and bright colors.
Tuesday Throwdown:  #324 Winter Critters. My DH said the winter bird was Blue because of the cold.

Snowflakes of Many Shapes

Welcome!  We are at the end of 2016 and ready for a New Year.  I plan to keep on making cards and made this with some new items that I received as gifts in the magazine Simply Cards & Papercraft.  The bonus included a snowflake die, snowflake embossing folder, and a snowflake stamp set.  I used the EF with a white card stock panel and layered that on a mat of blue CS.  I used 2 of the new stamps on Vellum with Versamark and embossed with Zing Silver EP. Then I cut the die on white CS and placed that on a blue circle.  I assembled all the elements and finished with a gem to complete this winter card.  What fun it is to play with new products!

Forest Of Trees

Hello! Welcome to my blog!  I was inspired by Cheri's project of the week posted on The House That Stamps Built using soft shadow resist technique in the making of this card.   I stamped Repeat Impressions Large Pine Forest on white CS with Versamark and heat embossed with White EP.  I then added Memento Bamboo Leaves ink and SU Bordering Blue ink with a stencil brush and wiped off the ink on the embossed area. I also added Liquid Pearl snow.  I die cut the image and layered on a square of Green CS assembling my card following the Challenge Sketch below.  My Glossy White card base, embossed with Darice EF Snowflakes, was inked with Green Copic- not the neatest way to this. Next time I would use a layer of Green CS instead.  Finished with some Snowflakes, Blue Grosgrain ribbon strips and Blue Rhinestones.  Snowflakes were die cut with a Cheery Lynn die from Build a Flower Dies. Also used Nesties square die.

Challenges:
The House That Stamps Built: What If? Wednesday Sketch #02616.  I always try to use Repeat Impressions stamps for my entry.
Shopping Our Stash Weekly: Challenge SOS275 is Three Trees-use at least 3 trees.
Die Cut Diva: October is the time to emboss.  Used both dry and heat embossing with dies for "snowflakes" and squares.

After posting the photograph, I realized that my image was not centered on the Green Panel. OOPS! I will correct the position before using the card but will not take the time to redo the photo.

A Chilly Time on the Prairie

Yes it is COLD!!! And I was inspired by a photo challenge at The House That Stamps Built to create this card.  My card is a bit reminiscent of the House on the Prairie.  When I saw the inspiration photo below, I immediately thought of some Repeat Impressions stamps that I have not used since I bought them a few weeks ago.  I pulled out the Log Cabin, Shade of the Elm (tree), Clouds and sentiment stamps and began with a Blue CS panel.  Using the technique of masking  I stamped the cabin and 2 elm trees (minus the chairs and shade) with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and stamped and embossed the clouds with Brilliance Moonlight White ink and White Puff EP.   I colored the cabin and trees with brown pencils and a yellow glaze pen.  I then played with Liquid Pearls and Frosted Lace Stickles to get the snowy effect that I wanted. I also sponged some white on the sky.  I liked the card at this point and made a photo shown above.  But then I stamped a sentiment "Time To Chill Out" with a cloud just for a bit of Humor. I fussy cut and temporarily  attached the sentiment  to the card for a second photo below.   I am not sure if I will use with or without a sentiment.  Any Thoughts?
I finished with a Bright Blue Mat on a Card Base of Chocolate Brown.
