Birthday Wishes

Hello! Today I am sharing a Birthday card that uses embossing folders and a focus on the sentiment. I was inspired by the sketch challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches shown below.  I embossed a white panel with Cuttlebug Happy Birthday EF and attached to a Faded Brick card base from GKD. Added a Wicker Weave embossed strip of the same CS layered with a fancy cut Flower from GKD Watercolor Floral paper and some GKD Ephemera Leaves. Stamped GKD Sentiment from So Many Sentiments with Memento Potter's Clay ink on a flag die cut. Inked some of the edges with Copic marker.  Finished with some sequins from stash.  Another Birthday card for my stash.

In My Heart

Hello! I created this card using Patterned Papers and Ephemera from Gina K. Designs Watercolor Floral kit. I embossed the floral paper panel with Cuttlebug Victoria EF before attaching to a mat of GKD Faded Brick CS and added a strip of another patterned paper with the sentiment from On My Mind and in my Heart mini stamp set stamped and embossed on a strip of the Faded Brick. Finished by popping up a Flower from the Ephemera with foam tape.  Used white card base.

Inking Up is Fun

Hello! I broke down and bought a set of blending brushes and had to try them out on a card.  I inked up a panel of white card stock using Green Asparagus, Dark Spruce, Light and Dark Carnation inks from GKD to use as the background for a birthday card. I stamped the panel with a stamp from Happy Flowers set using black ink and then trimmed the image to fit on a Green Asparagus card base. I stamped sentiments from the same set with the Green Asparagus ink and die cut with GKD dies. Die cut the word Happy 3 times and layered with contact glue. For additional interest, I stamped a bud from the image a second time and inked with the pink shades, fussy cut the bud, and added with foam tape. I think this added some balance to the card.

Happy, Happy, Happy, and Happy

Hello! I had fun making this card but it took so long to create because I kept changing the elements and the layout, but I finally finish the design.  The card was inspired by the February Monthly Mix challenge at Gina K Designs. We are to make a fun fold card and use pattern paper that we create with GKD stamps.  I stamped GKD Petite Flourish Background stamp with GKD Green Asparagus Ink on GKD Innocent Pink ink for the pattern paper which I trimmed into panels to fit the folds of the White Card. See the fold in the photo on the side. I inked all the edges of the panels with Pilot Metallic Gold marker before attaching.
I stamped a Rose image from GKD Tropical Blooms set with Versamark on the Pink CS and heat embossed with Gold EP. I cut the image with a die from the same set and colored in the leaves with green Copics and shaded the Petals with Pink Copics.  Attached this image to the edge of the fold. I stamped, heat embossed, and die cut the word Happy 4 times. Adhered one of these to the outside fold and arranged the others   to the inside beneath the top fold. Did the same steps-stamp, heat, and die cut- with the word Birthday and attached so you can see on the card beneath the Happy when closed and open.  Lot of Happiness unfolds from this card!

Seize the Birthday: 231 Sparkle and Shine. Lot of gold with sparkle and shine.

Fall Cards

Hello!  I have been creating more Fall/Thanksgiving cards.  I have used colored digital stamps from Artsystamper Shop to create some quick and easy cards.  The top card features a sunflower image printed on Ivory textured cardstock and a sentiment from Gina K Designs stamped in dark red ink. Added a green satin ribbon printed with leaves that I had in my stash.  Finished with  a card base of Faded Brick.

This design was made with Artsystamper pumpkin, leaves, and sentiment digital stamps arranged and printed on Ivory Textured paper.  I stamped a sentiment from Hero Arts in Rich Cocoa ink and used a dark brown card base.
I used the same pumpkin and maple leaves digital images from Artsystamper Shop for the last 2 cards but added some distress ink,  Cheery Lynn die cut words, and Green card base on one.  I also popped up the pumpkin on this one by printing the image twice and fussy cut the pumpkin.   The last one was printed with a sentiment on ivory cardstock and placed on a card base of Faded Brick.  Used a black gel pen to highlight the sentiment.

These cards are part of several that I  am making for the residents at my Mother's care center.

Challenges to enter:
Cut It Up: Challenge 209 Happy Fall, Y'all  + use at least 3 layers. Used die cut words and 3 layers with -card base, background layer, and pumpkin cut out with words.

Pattern on Pattern

Hello! Back again today with another post.  It has been awhile since I entered Tuesday Morning Sketch so I made this card from some fall papers that I had on my desk. They are from a paper pad The Simple Things from GKD.  I had the papers for some time and thought I would put to good use. I used 2 of the patterns layering one die cut with an oval die over a panel of the darker pattern. I stamped some leaves using GKD stamps from A Year Of Leaves and Skeleton Leaves on scraps from a gold card stock, fussy cut them, and inked the edges before arranging on the card. Used DOI Wild Honey for stamping and coloring on the leaves.  Finished with a sentiment from Skeleton Leaves stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa on scrap of turquoise paper matted on  a gold strip.  For fun I fussy cut some acorns from the pattern and added to the sentiment.

Challenges:
Monthly Mix Challenge: Donna's Challenge is Fall is almost here! Used GKD Papers and Stamps.
Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper: Always about Using Patterned Papers
Double D Challenges: Colorful Challenge
Tuesday Morning Sketches: #570 Sketch shown below.

Note: I did not realize my card was so similar to Angela's card at Tuesday Morning until I was writing my post. Maybe I saw her card when I first read the challenge and it stuck in my mind?? And I thought I had an original design but it looks like I cased Angela unintentionally.

Have a great day! I love reading your comments. Theresa

More Patterned Papers

Hello!  I have another card that I created for the Modsquad Challenge to use at least 3 different patterned papers on a project.   My patterns for this card are from GKD The Simple Things paper pad.  I started by using the cover of the pad but had to trim off a bit of the page (had printing on the cover) and insert a portion of the aqua pattern beneath.  I also fussy cut the owl and fox from one of the other papers and attached to the card. I cut the center with a circle die making a die cut window for the sentiment from GKD The Northwoods set which I heat embossed with red EP. Used white cardstock as the base on which I stamped the sentiment. I actually used 3 pieces of different patterned papers but I have 6 different patterns since the portion of cover page that I used is printed with 6 patterns.

Quilting with Patterned Papers

Hello!  The current challenge at Modsquad is to create a project using at least 3 different patterned papers.  A fun way to use patterns is to create a quilt so that is what I did in my design.  I combined several patterns from GKD Autumn Landscape and Sunkissed Autumn paper pads with older stamps from GKD Nana's Needlework set from 2010. I stamped the quilt rack on a woodgrain patterned paper from stash with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and fussy cut the image.  I stamped the quilt on 3 different GKD papers and fussy cut out the pieces and assembled into a pieced quilt. Assembled the quilt and rack on to a white card stock panel, stamped the GKD sentiment with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink, and attached to a panel of another patterned paper from GKD. Used a card base of GKD Fresh Asparagus card stock.  For fun I added a couple of red hearts, die cuts from another project.  In all I used 5 different patterned papers.
Challenges:
Modsquad Challenge: Patterned Paper Trio
Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge: Always about using Patterned Papers
Retro Rubber Challenge: #141 Anything Goes using Stamps older than a year .  Stamps used are from a 2010 stamp set.

Thinking of Everyone

Hello!  It's been a few days since I have posted but I have this Thinking of you Card to share today.   I thought I had posted this but could not find it, so I am using  it to say that I have been thinking of everyone out there in blog land and hope you are staying healthy and safe. I created this card by heat embossing GKD stamps from Tropical Blooms with Gold EP on Black CS and coloring with Pencils.  Also used a splatter stamp with the Gold EP.  I inked the edge of the image layer with Pilot Gold Metallic marker and attached to a card base of Black CS.
Challenges to enter:
Happy Little Stampers: March CAS challenge-use favorite technique. Used Heat embossing.
The Flower Challenge: #42 Anything Goes
613 Avenue Create: Challenge 231 Anything Goes with Optional Twist Use Colored Pencils

I have not been posting lately but I have been busy in my studio creating a great many cards.  I put together a package of over 80 cards that I sent to the Life Care Center in Tennessee where my Mother is a resident. This included many Hello, Thinking of You, and other assorted themes to cheer up the residents who have been unable to have company.
I assembled the package by pulling cards from my stash some of which I modified and changed to fit the need.  I failed to make a picture of those cards that I sent but many were cards that I have posted on this blog. I also used a lot of those bits and pieces that I had accumulated in my leftover box of never used die cuts, stamped images, colored digis, etc to create several quick cards that I enclosed with the already made ones.  I also included some Thank You Cards to the staff.
Sending cards is a great way to keep busy and let others know that you care.  I see a lot of card makers doing that very thing.
I am now working on a box of Easter Cards to send to the same place and almost have the number that I need.  More about that later and I will have pictures.

Have a great day! I love reading your comments. Theresa

Hello! I was truly inspired by Power Poppy Blog Monday Inspire Me post about Embossed Silhouette.  I was so inspired that I immediately CASE'd Julie's card.  I even used a flower stamp from the same set that she used- Vibrant Thanks set- but I used the Bee Balm  instead of the Coreopsis.  I also did sponging very similar to what she did.  I simply followed her steps to create this card so please check out her post ….she explained everything much better that I can.
Supplies used: Power Poppy Vibrant Thanks and Simply Camelia stamp sets; White, Fresh Asparagus, and Faded Brick GKD cardstocks; Fried Brick and Peeled Paint DOI, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Versamark Ink; White EP; Copic Black Multiliner pen and marker; Dewdrops.

Reflect on Past Cards

Hello! The January Monthly Mix Challenge at GKD is Let's Reflect.  We are to take a card we made last year and create a do over, an update or adjustment to it. Use at least one element from the old card to make a new one.  I chose the card below using the GKD rose stamp from Rose Bouquet that I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with different color Copics but trimmed with the same Oval die.  I layered the image on a Red Vellum layer die cut with Cheery Lynn Swedish Spring Oval Frame. Gold embossed  a sentiment from GKD Thank You Friend set.  Used the same card base of Fresh Asparagus GKD CS and rounded two corners with a Corner Punch.

Hearts with Love

Welcome to my studio!  I have created 2 cards for the Twofer Card Challenge which is Hearts.  I used the same small hearts stamps from GKD You Have My Heart set.  I also used the same Scalloped Heart dies from Spellbinders but that just happened by chance.  The Musical Valentine card shown on the left features partial die cutting and  guitar and sentiment stamps from the same set as the hearts.  I doodled some dots around the white heart. Used Memento Lady Bug ink and Red and White CS.

The Birthday card uses the same heart stamps hanging from a GKD branch stamp that I modified to be a tree. The word stamps are from Winnie & Walter set.  Used Memento Lady Bug, Bamboo Leaves, and Rich Cocoa inks with White and Fresh Asparagus CS. Embossed white layer with Cuttlebug Wicker Weave EF.  I was going to make the theme of this card All Things Grow with Love but that did not work out.

Challenges:
Twofer Card Challenge: Challenge #23 Two different designs for two different occasions using the same stamps, stencils, and/or dies. Theme is Hearts.
Happy Little Stampers: January Anything Goes with Dies.
Dies R Us Challenge: #136 Anything Goes using any brand of metal die that DRU sells.

Making Two at a Time

Hello! I have been playing with a new stamp Tall Birch from Gina K Designs and created 2 similar birthday cards.   I stamped the trees using 2 different inks on white CS ….once with Memento Rich Cocoa(top) and again with Distress Oxide Walnut Stain(below). I used a Snow Marker to add dimension to both scenes and make it wintery.  Added some die cut squirrels from my stash for fun and stamped each with GKD birthday sentiments. Used white card base and brown mat on the top one and just a simple brown card base for the second.  These cards will be great for winter birthdays.
