Summer Gladiolus

Hello!  I was being a bit creative using this image of Gladiolus on its side but it's just the way  I felt doing it. No logical reason why I did it.... I know they do not grow that way.  Glads come in nearly every color of the rainbow and  I decided to do mine in coral and orange tones by coloring with Copics....sorry no list. I followed the sketch shown below right.

Challenges to enter:

A Little Embossing, A Little Ribbon, A Little Stamp

Welcome!  Lately, I seem to be stuck on making CAS cards. But there are so many great challenges featuring the CAS style.  I don't see many CAS cards made with pattern paper but I love to create with pattern designs and use embossing on the paper to create some texture.  Here I have used the sketch shown below on the right and used  stamps from Power Poppy Sassy Succulents set.

A Tower of Giraffes

Hello! Back for another post of another  CAS Card. I had been trying to come up with an idea for the Challenge at CAS-ology for the cue card RUN and remembered a stamp of running giraffes.  I stamped the pair of giraffes 4 times to create a Tower ...yes, that is what a group of giraffes is called.   I used a printed cardstock from DCWV Safari Chic Matstack  to create the scene of running giraffes with an African tree and sentiment all stamped in GKD Black Onyx ink.  I placed on a card base of DCWV Black. I hope this qualifies as a CAS card --I think I left enough blank space.

CAS with Style

Welcome to my studio!  I am making more and more CAS cards such as this one posted today. As I kept looking at the sketch from Poppy Sketches,  I could only think of a pocket stamp that I had, so I flipped the sketch and came up with this design.  I stamped the Heartfelt Creations Jean Pocket stamp with Versamark  on Purple CS and heat embossed with Gold EP.  After trimming out the pocket I distressed the edges and adhered to Pink Card base.  I stamped the Mark's Finest Papers sentiment also with Versamark and heat embossed with Gold EP. I cut a strip and punched a heart with EK punch from a Gold Glitter Paper to finish the design.

Flower Pots in a Circle

Hello!   Today I have made a round card using a digital image from A Day for Daisies called Favorite Flower Pots.  This looks like something I would place in my garden....some old worn work boots recycled as flower pots.  After printing the image, I colored with Copics and cut with a Nesties Circle Die and attached to a yellow circle and then  a base of red card stock cut with a lacey scallop circle die.  I stamped with a Flourishes Hello in Memento Rich Cocoa.

Countryside Bouquet

Hello again!   I have been playing with Power Poppy's Countryside Bouquet digital image that I printed on watercolor paper and water colored with Distress inks and a water brush.  This is only the second image that I have ever colored in this manner.  I must say that I was really happy with the final results and how well I stayed in the lines. To see the details even better, click on the image to enlarge.  The hardest part of this card was deciding how to finish....the image laid on my desk a few days before I finally chose the card base and background. I pulled out the blue from the bouquet by adding some ribbon and sprinkles.  I thought this looked best as a square card which I seldom make.

I will share this at the Power Poppy Peep of the Week challenge.

Other Challenge:

Coloring Vellum

Welcome!  This card was inspired by a video about coloring vellum from Jennifer McGuire seen here. I just had to try her tips and techniques.  I stamped Flowers and Leaves from Technique Tuesday Two Stepping set with versamark on clear vellum and heat embossed with white EP. I colored the backs of the images with Memento Markers Angel Pink, Rose Bud, Lilac Posies, Bamboo Leaves, New Sprout, Cantaloupe, and Dandelion. I fussy cut the flowers and leaves. I cut a banner with Cameo from pink vellum and white cardstock. I heat embossed W&W's Happy Birthday on the vellum and layered on the white banner.  Using a White CS Card Base,  I added  a layer of white embossed with Cuttlebug  EF Wicker Weave and arranged and attached  the banner, flowers and leaves with Vellum tape.  Love the lovely texture and colors on this card.
CAS(E) this Sketch: See graphic on the right
Simon Wednesday:  Let's be clear!  Hope it's clear that I clearly used vellum.
Mod Squad Challenge: Love that texture.  Texture is in the embossing and the embossed vellum.

Two Frogs Sittin on a Log

Have you ever used your fingerprint to stamp a card?  It was my first time but so much fun, but a bit messy. The challenge at Less is More this week is a One Layer Card and we are to Adapt a Fingerprint.  My first attempt...yes there are more to come.....was to create these frogs on a log. I used Memento Bamboo Leaves Ink and my fingers for the 2 frogs and colored the log with Distress Ink Vintage Photo  with a water brush.  Drew in details with black pen.  Sentiment is from Flourishes stamp set and it just seemed to fit.
Other Challenge:
CAS on Sunday: One Layer Wonder

My card reminds me of this riddle:
2 frogs sitting on a log. One name Pete, the other named Repeat. If Pete jumps off, then who is left?
Do you know the answer?

Butterfly on Vellum

Hello!  I was not planning to post again today but I made this card for Less Is More's Challenge to use  Earth Tones and forgot that I need to enter about 33 minutes.  So I am doing so very quickly.   I made the butterfly by stamping a GKD stamp with Versamark and heat embossing with Copper EP on clear Vellum.  I then colored on the back side with Copics Y 06, 17, YR 02,09,18,E09,25 and fussy cut. I added a clear gem to the head.  I attached this image to a square of Ivory CS with pop up foam and then to a square of Yellow Vellum to frame and then to the card base of Pumpkin spice. I also embossed the sentiment (source not known)  "Fluttering By To Say Hi..." on a piece of  ivory CS to finish the Card. I love the way vellum looks with the Earth Tones, so very  jewel like.

Less is More: Use earth Tones.
Simon Wednesday:  Let's be clear.  I hope it's clear that I used clear Vellum on my card.

Added a sentiment from Mark's Finest Paper with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink.  Mounted the image on mat of green CS.  I followed a Challenge Sketch shown on the right. Added some gold glitter glue to star on tree and decorated the tree with white ornament balls simply cut out with a hole punch.

Flowers for a Happy Summer

Nothing says summer better that red geraniums ....a great flower .  This geranium  digital image is from Power Poppy's latest digital release and the sentiment is from her Sassy Succulents set. I printed the flowers on watercolor paper and colored with Copics R11, 29, 43 and greens (forgot to list) and used black glaze pen on the centers.  I fussy cut the Geraniums and added to a layer of watercolor paper cut with a Nesties Blossom die. The sentiment was stamped with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink.  Guess I could have just cut the image with the die but why not do things the hard way???  Using a card base of GKD Green CS, I used a background of Dotted  MME Pattern Paper embossed with Cuttlebug EF Swiss Dots. Wrapped that layer with green satin looped ribbon and added the image with foam dots  .Love, love the Power Poppy stamps. They are so fun to color.

A Glow for Good Times

Today, I am sharing a CAS card, at least I think it is CAS.  I made this card using a sketch challenge from The House That Stamps Built.  I made with some 12"X12" glitter paper I bought some time ago for 39cents.  I used black cardstock for card base and layers between layers of the gold. Stars were die cut with Sizzix die. Repeat Impressions Stamp  was gold embossed for more glow.   I thought this was a great sentiment for this glowing card.

What If? Wednesday:  Repeat Impressions Sketch #J914
CASology: Theme is Glow.  This card actually glows in the dark.  Hope it is CAS enough.

Let's Fly a Kite

Hello!  I remember having fun flying kites as a child especially during the month of March in Tennessee. Often we made our kites from kraft paper( grocery bags). some sticks , glue or tape,  a ball of string, and torn strips of fabric for a tail.  The kite on my card reminds me of those kites that we made. I found this design on Operation Write Home here.

Cityscape at Sunset

Hello!  I have been playing with my cameo and cut 2 cityscapes-one in black CS and another in Watercolor paper and the word Celebrate! from a scrap of leftover colored with Distress Inks.   I colored the one cityscape with a Blue Distress ink creating an ombre look.  Using a piece of Watercolor Paper colored with Distress inks Wild Honey and Picked Raspberry for the Card Base, I assembled my cut elements similar to The Cutting Edge Challenge Graphic shown on the right.  This is a new challenge to me and is only their second challenge. The challenge is to create a card that features some kind of die-cutting (manual or electronic) using the graphic for inspiration.  I used the colors and layout and theme of buildings in my card.

Shake It Up

Hello!  I debated whether I wanted to make a shaker card but finally gave in and made a birthday card with stars and stripes with star confetti inside the star window.  I stamped the sentiment from Winnie and Walter's The Big, The Bold, and The Happy set  in the back of the window.  I always find it hard to photograph shaker cards and capture the items shaking.  I made the window using an acetate recycled from the package of some dies. Star confetti was from stash as well as papers. I used Sizzix die to cut the stars.

Bears in Love

Hello!  At The House That Stamps Built,  Deonna  is hosting  Designer’s Choice Challenge DCC72 and she would like us to create cards with a fur or winged things theme.  Of course I had to do a furry teddy bear theme. I have made this card with a Repeat Impressions stamp Bear Hug stamped on a pastel pattern paper with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored with Copics.  I paper pieced the sweet bow and cut the image with a circle die and layered on a pink circle.  I used a pink card base and layered with 2 panels, attached the image and added some hearts punched with a EK punch. Added some cut out words from the paper. All patterns from Pink Paislee  Color Wash pad.

Another Monday....another challenge.  This is a CAS card made for the challenge at CAS-ology

I simply added some Blue Distress Ink to white cardstock and stamped Repeat Impressions Balloons floating in the "sky" with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored the 2 larger ones with Copics and paper pieced the smaller one. The sentiment is from Power Poppy. Layered the image on blue cardstock and attached to white card base.

Red, White and Blue

I was playing with a few challenges and ended up with a Red, White, and Blue card but not with a patriotic theme but used a floral design. I used the sketch and colors/design in the photo from the Fusion challenge shown to the right.  Starting with a white card base, I stamped flowers from Avery Elle Petals and Stems set in Memento Lady Bug ink.  I made a banner with Glossy Blue scrap that I embossed with Darice Chevron EF and inked the raised areas with Memento Paris Dusk ink. I fussy cut a larger stamped flower and popped up on a circle of Shiny Red Cardstock. The sentiment from same stamp set was heat embossed with white puff EP on another scrap of the Red Shiny paper cut with a Spellbinders label die.

Birthday Tag for Distress Ink Challenges

As promised, I am back with a entry for Day 5 of  at Winnie and Walter's Blog. The challenge is  Tag It!  Incorporate a tag, Distress Ink and w&w products into a  project.    I began by cutting a piece of Coral Card Stock into a tag shape and added 2 layers of Watercolor paper colored with Distress Inks.  Actually these papers were some leftovers from earlier projects. I stamped words from Winnie and Walter's Stamp Set The Big, The Bold, and The Happy on the top layer using DI Picked Raspberry and added some sequins.  I searched my box of ribbon scraps for colorful ribbons to finish the tag.  I was aiming for my design to be an explosion of colors and of an abstract nature. I hope I succeeded.
