2 Cards from 1

Hello!  I never throw something out if I think I can reuse or upcycle the item. I found an old commercial Christmas card that I had saved and made 2 cards from it. These are not my usual handmade cards that I stamp, color, emboss, etc. It was so easy that I feel maybe I should not enter them in a challenge.  But then I do not think I am breaking any rules???

I trimmed 2 panels from the old card and matched up with some bright green textured card stock in my stash.  I assembled 2 cards and added a die cut sentiment from metallic gold cardstock to one.  Die is from Cheery Lynn. I let the existing sentiment remain as is on the second card. 

These cards will go in my collection of Christmas cards made for my mother's Life Care Center.

Celebrate in a Red Dress

Hello!  I have been MIA for awhile but am back today to play with the Monthly Mix  challenge at Gina K Designs  "Put Your Red Dress On". We are to use Red as the dominant color and create a celebratory card.  I used a older stamp set Celebrate in Style from GKD with GKD Red Velvet CS. I stamped the image and sentiment with Versamark and embossed with Gold EP. I trimmed this with an oval die.  I paper pieced the skirt with a scrap of patterned paper before attaching to a scalloped oval die cut from Gold Metallic CS.  I used a background of more of the Red Velvet CS embossed with Cuttlebug Divine Swirls EF which I heat embossed the raised areas with  Gold EP. Finished with a base card of GKD Gold Metallic CS. I will be using this card to wish someone a Happy Birthday.

Christmas Cards with Foil

Hello!  More Christmas cards for my stash.  I started with panels of GKD Large Snowflakes Foil Mates for both of these cards and blended Distress Oxide ink using reds on the top card and blues for the second one. I added GKD Glimmering Gold foil to both using a laminator. I trimmed both panels and added the red one to a card base of Gold Metallic card stock. I inked the edges of the blue panel with Pilot Gold Metallic marker and used a GKD Blue Raspberry card base.  I die cut the sentiments from Gold Metallic CS with Creative Expressions die Merry Christmas trim and backed with strips of solid cardstock before attaching with Connect glue.

Snowflakes with Gold Foiling

Hello! A few weeks ago I bit the bullet and bought a laminator and then of course had to buy foils and other supplies to use with the tool. One purchase led to more buying....that's what happens to us crafters and card makers when we just have to try something new and different. Today I am sharing a card that I made using my new toys. I began by foiling a sheet of Foil-Mate Snowflakes from GKD with Glimmering Gold Foil.  I cut this into panels sized for a card front.  I inked the edges of one panel with Gold Metallic marker and attached to a card base of GKD Red Velvet CS. I cut a strip of the red CS with the Merry Christmas Trim die by Sue Wilson from Creative Expressions and inserted gold cut letters (leftover from another cut) into the strip. Attached to the finished card.

 This is another card made with another panel of the foiled snowflakes.  But I used a mat of Red Card stock and a card base of Gold Metallic for this design.  This second photo is dark but shows some of the shine of the foiling better.

A Peony for A Birthday

Welcome!  Switching off to making some birthday cards but still doing Christmas cards.  I created this design for the Creative Confetti Challenge Free For All - to create anything  you desire using Power Poppy stamps.  I pulled out one of my favorites Power Poppy clear stamp sets Peony Muse and stamped the smaller peony with Memento Pink ink (heat embossed with Clear EP) and the leaves and stems with Memento Green Ink.  I colored the image with Copics and used a White Pencil for some highlights. I trimmed the image with an Oval die and cut a mat from Gold Metallic CS with a Scallop Oval die. I attached this at an angle on to DCWV patterned stripe paper with gold foil accent stripes.  Added a White Organdy Ribbon with Gold Threads and attached die cut words cut from Pink CS with Cheery Lynn Dies.  Added some sparkle to the words with Sakura Clear Star pen. Finished with a card base of heavy weight white cardstock.

Day One of Christmas

Hello! It has been a few days since I posted a card on my blog.  I am taking time to share this Christmas card made with A Partridge in a Pear Tree. The partridge stamp is from a set called "Twelve Days of Christmas" from Creative Stamping magazine which I have had over a year and the Christmas sentiment stamp I believe is by Flourishes which is several years old. I stamped the Partridge with Versamark and heat embossed with Gold EP and colored with Copics.  I really like how the images came out.  Used Metallic Gold Cardstock for the card base to keep a very rich feel to the card.

Merry Christmas Cards

 Hello! It is snowing...the ground is white...and it is very COLD.  A good day to spend inside and post some cards.  All three cards were made with patterned papers from a magazine.  I just added embossing, inked edges with Pilot Gold Marker, and card stock from my stash. Glossy Accents used on ornaments in each card to add some texture and depth. Hard to see in photos.
Other supplies: Pink CS, Shimmery Pink CS, Gold Metallic CS, Cuttlebug Swiss Dot EF, Darice Ornaments EF, Sakura Stardust Pen.

 These cards were quick and easy and I used up some of my stash in the making.

Joy with Gold

Hello! Another Christmas card that I made when playing with gold foil.  I took a leftover panel of striped patterned paper and added strips of foil to some of the stripes with double sided tape. Added the word Joy stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with Gold EP. This was a freebie stamp from Simply Cards magazine from 2016.  Added some dots of gold. Die cut  the word  with a Spellbinder die and framed it with Metallic Gold CS die cut from a larger Spellbinder die. Finished with a Red Card Base.

Quick Cards from Stash

Hello!  I am sharing 4 Christmas cards that were quick and easy to make because I used Patterned papers and die cuts with no stamping involved.  For the top card, I trimmed a Patterned Paper from a stash of magazine freebies, embossed it with Divine Swirls EF, and inked the edges with Gold Pilot Marker.  Wrapped the panel with Gold Metallic ribbon and tied on a bow. Added this to a card base of Shimmery Pink CS. Finished with Cheery Lynn die cut words of Gold Metallic CS.

This card uses more of the Patterned Paper on a Gold Metallic card base with the same ribbon and die cut words.

For this card I used Pattern Paper accented with silver foil snowflakes.  I inked the edge of the panel with a Silver Metallic Pilot Marker and popped up die cut snowflakes(backed with white foam) from Silver Metallic CS.  Finished with Cheery Lynn die cut words that I cut from White CS that I heat embossed with Silver EP.

This is another version of the card directly above but used Silver Metallic CS for the words along with die cut snowflakes. All 4 cards were created with scraps of Metallic CS.  Dies for snowflakes were from Cheery Lynn Build a Flower  and an Unknow Freebie.

Using Scraps and Stash

 Welcome!  I have some more Christmas cards using scraps and items from stash.   For the top card I used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches as inspiration for the layout.  I cut strips from scraps of designer patterned paper with gold foil dots on pink.  I stamped the wreath from an old Flourishes set on glossy CS with Versamark and heat embossed with Gold EP and colored with 2 Pink Copics.  I trimmed with a Spellbinders circle die and attached to a Metallic Gold circle also cut with Spellbinders die.  I assembled the card with a card base of white CS but colored the edges with the same 2 Pink Copics to match wreath.  Added an embossed panel ( Cuttlebug Bubbles EF)  of GKD Metallic Gold CS with the strips,  image, and Cheery Lynn die cut words. Finished with a metallic gold bow.

This card was created with the same patterned paper and gold Metallic  paper as above but on ivory CS base.  The panel of gold metallic paper was embossed with Darice Santa Sleigh  EF. The sentiment from an old Annabelle set was heat embossed with Gold EP. Used more of the Metallic Gold ribbon to finish.

Focus on Holiday Sentiment

Hello! Jumping back to Christmas with a shiny and bright card that focuses on the Christmas sentiment from Gina K designs Merry & Bright stamp set.   I stamped the words with Versamark and heat embossed with Gold EP on GKD Red CS.  I did some dry embossing around the edges and highlighted the raised surfaces with Gold ink. I framed the sentiment with a frame cut from Gold Metallic CS using Spellbinders Label Dies. To finish, I attached this to a Gold Metallic card base.

Red and Gold for Christmas

Hello!  I am back with another Christmas card in July that was inspired by the sketch from the current challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  First I created a background for the card by stamping and heat embossing a Music Background stamp from Gina K Designs on Red Card stock with Gold EP. For the top of the card I stamped and gold embossed a GKD sentiment on a small panel of the same CS. I layered this sentiment on a Gold Metallic panel die cut with a Spellbinders Scalloped Rectangle die.  I assembled the card with a  Gold Metallic card base, a layer of Red CS, the embossed music background, strips of red velvet ribbon edged with gold, and finally the sentiment. I always love the dramatic look of red and gold.

Jar of Lightning Bugs

Hello!  Playing with the Tic Tac Toe Challenge J1019 at The House That Stamps Built.  My card uses stamps all from Repeat Impressions that were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on a Diecut  Card with a fancy fold From Crafter's Companion (part of a prize).  I paper pieced the jar lid with Metallic Gold Paper and added some Dew Drops between the flying insects. I also covered the jar with Light Yellow Vellum.  I placed a strip of Striped Patterned Paper behind the fold. I actually used elements from the top row and also the diagonal row of the challenge.  Does that double my chances? Just kidding!  My photo did not capture very well that this was a step fold but hope you can visualize it.

The First Day of Christmas

Hello!  I have another Christmas card to share in July.  I am using a stamp from a set "Twelve Days of Christmas"from Creative Stamping magazine that I got last Christmas.  This is my first time to use this stamp and I plan to make a series of cards using all 12 days. I was inspired to create this card by the sketch below from Try Stampin' On Tuesday.  I stamped the Partridge in a Pear Tree with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Gold EP on White CS.  I colored the image with Memento Markers and Copics Gold Marker. I trimmed the bird and rounded one corner with a punch. I used a Card Base of GKD Metallic CS, a Strip of Moonlit Fog CS embossed with Divine Swirls EF. Stamped the sentiments with Versamark and heat embossed with Black EP.  Hope you can see the gold embossing in the photo....really pretty in real life.

Winter Wonderland

Hello!  I have had an idea  for the challenge at The Library for awhile since the photo was posted on October 28 but never executed until this morning.  I had immediately thought of an old stamp of a winter scene  that would tie in with the book The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.  My card depicts the entrance into the snowy winter forest of Narnia with a lamppost. This is where the 4 children find the lion, the rightful ruler and king of Narnia, who I included in my card. 

I stamped the Winter Scene stamp (Mark's Finest Papers Ice & Snow) on white card stock with DOI Frayed Burlap and added snow and glitter with a couple different Stickles, Liquid Pearls. and a Snow Marker.  The crystal stickles gave a golden glow to the trees and snow.  I wanted to have a feel of fantasy to the scene.  The lamppost was stamped with a Hero Arts stamp and the sentiment was from MFP set Ice and Snow. Added the fussy cut lion that I printed from Silhouette with My Cameo.  Other supplies: Versamark Ink, Gold EP, Metallic Gold CS(base), Memento Black Ink, Yellow Copic.

Made from Leftovers and More

 Hello!  Today I have one of those cards that just evolved from pieces I had in my stash beginning with some scraps of patterned papers, a die cut word of gold metallic CS, a wooden ornament embellishment, and the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches.  I began by painting the wooden bell with markers and setting aside to dry. I cut the circle from a  red embossed scrap and backed it with the green scrap.  Trimmed the words from a patterned paper scrap.  Assembled all the elements on a panel of  patterned paper and a background of Ivory CS embossed with Argyle EF.  And ended up with another Christmas card.

Celebrate in Style

Hello! I am sharing 2 cards today each with a "fashion" theme.  The first card features an old shoe stamp from Anna Griffin inked with plum inks and a touch of gold.  I framed it with an old Gina K stamp from Lovely Labels 2 set that I have never before used.  I stamped the frame with versamark and heat embossed with Gold EP.  I fussy cut this and attached to a patterned paper from Our 

Daily Bread Designs Shabby Rose collection and then a card base of Metallic Gold CS.  Sentiment from Gina K was heat embossed with Gold EP.

The second fashion inspired card features a Gina K stamp from Celebrate in Style set.  I stamped the dress with DOI Peeled Paint, colored with copics, and paper pieced the skirt with a scrap leftover from the card above. The base of the dress form and the sentiment were heat embossed with Gold EP.

Musical Anniversary Card

Hello!  I was inspired to make this card for the challenge at Allsorts with the theme of Music.  I used a scrap of Patterned Paper with Gold Foiled accents from a magazine freebie  and a card base of Metallic Gold CS (looks like Kraft in photo).  Note the words on the paper says "Something for you, something for me."   I stamped the GKD Guitar and Sentiment on Ivory CS with Versamark, heat embossed with Gold EP,  and then die cut. Assembled on the Metallic Gold CS base and added a border of Shiny Metallic Gold to finish.  This will be used as an  anniversary card in October.

Hanukkah Card

Hello!  Playing with more sketches.  This one is from CAS(E) this Sketch.  I decided to make a Hanukkah card using a die cut and stamp from GKD.   The Star was cut with Quick Kutz die. Used White CS, scrap of Blue CS, Gold Metallic CS, Versamark ink, Gold EP. Inked the edges of the card with Gold Metallic Pilot Marker.

Butterfly with Stenciling

Hello!  For this card, I combined some stenciling, a die cut, and a stamp verse.   I used a GKD Stencil with DOI Faded Jeans on a white CS.  Stamped a sentiment from Paper and Such  with the same ink and then inked the edge with a Gold Metallic marker.  Attached to a white card base and added a Gold Metallic Butterfly die cut with a Cheery Lynn die.

My DH asked if I had enough white space to count as CAS?  Isn't he smart and crafty to know that?

When I compared the DT cards for white space, I think I have enough white space. We'll see, I guess.  Maybe I should have used another sentiment.
