Hello to You

Welcome to the studio!  Sharing a card that I created with supplies from Gina K Designs and Cuttlebug embossing folders.  I started this design by cutting a smallcircle from a patterned paper from Watercolor Floral pad and set aside the circle. I trimmed the paper with rectangle stitched die from GKD (master layout 2) and embossed the panel with Cuttlebug Victoria EF. I attached this to a white mat embossed with Cuttlebug Swiss Dots EF. I assembled the center embellishment with a strip of Faded Brick CS cut with GKD Flag die, the small circle of the patterned paper layered with a circle of Vellum, and a scalloped circle frame on top. I stamped the Vellum circle with a GKD sentiment from Rose Bouquet set using Versamark and Gold EP.  Finished with a card base of GKD Faded Brick CS. My inspiration for this design was the challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches.

Sending Birthday Wishes

Welcome to my studio!  Did you know that in some cultures, dragonflies represent good luck or prosperity? So, make a wish when you see a dragonfly and it'll come true.  And some say butterflies are omens of good luck.  If I send a card with both a dragonfly and a butterfly, would my card be doubly full of good luck for birthday wishes to come true?  That thought inspired my design for this card  made for a new challenge that I just found, and it intrigued me....

Paper Dragonfly Creative Challenge #2 2022 is anything flies (meaning anything goes) using only the colors Pink and Black.  

Details of card: Stamped Power Poppy Dahlia XL on white CS and colored with Copics.  Placed the image on a Black Mat and then on to White Card Base.  Stamped and double heat embossed Power Poppy sentiment to send Happy Wishes. I selected this particular stamp because "wishes" look like it was written by a butterfly in flight, does it not?

I finished the card by adding the butterfly cut with a Cheery Lynn Die and lined with Pink Vellum. The dragonfly was stamped on Pink Vellum using Versamark ink with a Creative Dies stamp and heat embossed with Black EP and then cut with a die also from Creative Dies. I wanted the dragonfly to have that iridescent and transparent look of a real one.

Seize the Birthday:   #231 Sparkle and Shine. The dragonfly does have some sparkle and shine but hard to see so I'll go with Anything Goes for a Birthday.

Flowers for You

Hello!  I have been playing with another challenge from Creative Confetti Challenge-Sketch It Out! Using the sketch shown below I  created a card with a zinnia stamp from Power Poppy Vibrant Thanks set.  The zinnia was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white card stock and colored with Copics. I sponged the background with a DOI. I cut the image with an oval die and attached to a scallop oval of Green CS.  I used a background of patterned paper from Blank Canvas pad by First Edition that I inked with a Copic marker. The floral paper inspired the colors that I used for coloring the flowers. A sentiment was heat embossed on a strip of green vellum and added to the card. I used a card base of textured mint cardstock and added some dewdrops for embellishments.

Wish For a Camellia

Hello!  I have been playing with the sketch challenge from Tuesday Morning Sketches and  using Power Poppy Simply Camellias set to create my card.  I stamped the Camellias with Memento Tuxedo Black on white card stock and colored with Copic Markers. I extended the image by adding another camellia by stamping and fussy cutting the additional flower.  I used a Fiskars border punch with pink cardstock to create a border on each side of the image and attached to a card base of green cardstock.  Finished with a sentiment from Power Poppy Dahlia XL set that I stamped and embossed on pink Vellum die cut with a label die.

Inspiring Poppies

Hello! I made this card for the Monthly Mix Challenge Lean On Me at Gina K Designs which is to create a card of encouragement and to decorate a matching envelope.  I chose stamps from GKD Inspiring Poppies and used a vase stamp from GKD Buds & Vases.  I stamped the flowers on white card stock by inking the stamp with Memento Green and Pink inks using markers and ink cubes. I colored the images with Copics. I stamped the vase with Memento Gray over  the flowers but also stamped it on Vellum and embossed with Clear EP and fussy cut.  I attached it to the card with Vellum Tape. Added the sentiment with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink and glued on some Dewdrops.  Finished the card with a card base of GKD Grass Green card stock. I created a matching envelope by stamping and coloring the Inspired Poppies on the front corner to match the card.  I seem to make a lot of cards using a favorite combo of Pink and Green.

An Oldie and A Favorite

Hello! That's the message that my card with spring flowers is sending.  I used a very old stamp dated 1999- one of my first PSX stamps and also one of my very favorites.  I stamped the Hydrangeas with Memento Rich Cocoa ink on white cardstock and colored with Copics and a white pencil for highlights. While looking for a background I came across a forgotten bag of papers and ribbon from Club Scrap, which I think was a long ago garage sale buy. Anyway the heavy weight and textured papers, one a pattern of greens and purples and one a solid green, were perfect to go with my Hydrangeas.  Added 2 of the grosgrain ribbons to the image before attaching to the patterned paper and the solid card base. Finished with the die cut word Hello stamped on clear vellum with DOI Wilted Violet.  The stamp and die are by Gina K Designs.  I was excited to discover the forgotten stash of papers and ribbons.

Walking In the Rain

Welcome!  My card today was inspired by all the rain that we have had in April and that saying -April Showers Bring May Flowers.  I have used this rubber stamp from Wags 'n Whiskers Love You Sis  for many cards since 2011.  I pulled it out again to pair with this digital pattern paper from Paper Crafter Magazine that I found in one of my digital files. I stamped the image on white cardstock with black ink and colored with Copics. The hard part was fussy cutting the Two Sisters which I did carefully.  I popped them up with foam on the colorful pattern paper and attached the sentiment that I printed on vellum using vellum tape.  I colored a stem of flowers after stamping and die cutting with Hero Arts stamp and die and then attached the flowers to the card.  I imagined that they-the sisters- had stopped and picked some flowers on their walk in the rain. 

This stamp has been on of favorites for years because it always reminds me of times with my younger sister.  I will mail this to her.....she has had a lot of rain this month in Tennessee.  Hope it brings her a smile!

St. Patrick's Day Lantern

Hello! or should I say Top of the Morning to Ya?   I've been having fun creating St. Patrick's cards so I thought I'd make a Lantern for St. Pat's Day as well.  I started with a sheet of 12" x 12" green cardstock and cut the design with my Cameo using Silhouette file #253765 by Suzanne Cannon.  I erased the cuts for the fold lines before cutting because I like to use my Scor-Pal to mark the fold lines.  I think this gives a smoother look to all the folds.  I assembled the lantern and  used vellum to cover the openings.  Placed a battery tea light inside.

Reflect on Past Cards

Hello! The January Monthly Mix Challenge at GKD is Let's Reflect.  We are to take a card we made last year and create a do over, an update or adjustment to it. Use at least one element from the old card to make a new one.  I chose the card below using the GKD rose stamp from Rose Bouquet that I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with different color Copics but trimmed with the same Oval die.  I layered the image on a Red Vellum layer die cut with Cheery Lynn Swedish Spring Oval Frame. Gold embossed  a sentiment from GKD Thank You Friend set.  Used the same card base of Fresh Asparagus GKD CS and rounded two corners with a Corner Punch.

More Christmas Cards

Hello!  I am trying to catch up on some challenges that I wanted to enter before the deadlines.  I created this Christmas card for the Tic Tac Toe Challenge D1119 at The House That Stamps Built.  I used the elements from the bottom row-Glitter, Trees, Vellum.  Used Red Glitter card stock which I find is much easier that using loose glitter. Used Repeat Impressions stamp of Trees stamped with Memento Green Ink on White CS. I used red vellum  pieces left over from a die cut to decorate the trees. Also used Repeat Impressions sentiment stamp, Red Memento ink, White card base, and Rectangle die.

Nine "Ladies" Dancing

 Today I am sharing a card that I made continuing with  a Twelve Days of Christmas series that I began some time ago but never completed.  I am picking up with Nine Ladies Dancing from the set called "Twelve Days of Christmas" from Creative Stamping magazine that I got last Christmas. Using masking technique,  I stamped the Dancing Pig 5 times on the front and 4 times on the inside (below)with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored the nine ladies with Copics Markers.  That way I covered all Nine Ladies. I decided that the dancing ladies would hold a banner wishing Merry Christmas.  I heat embossed the sentiment from my stash with Gold EP on vellum, fussy cut the words, and strung the banner on  metallic gold thread. I stamped the words beneath the dancers on the front and added a New Year sentiment to the inside.  Finished with a Red card base.

Wild About You

Hello!  I came up with this card for some current challenges including Gina K Design Monthly Mix Challenge to focus on repeating a sentiment on your card and also Tuesday Morning Sketch Challenge.  I used stamps from GKD Wild About You set that I had never used since I got it about a month ago.  I started out by stamping the sentiment 4 times on a ivory card stock panel with Distress Oxide Ink Walnut Stain. But then decided I wanted to add an image of a giraffe from the same set.  I did that by stamping the image on clear vellum with Memento Peanut Brittle ink and then heat embossed with clear EP.  I liked the way the giraffe looked on the vellum when I overlaid over my sentiment panel and attached it using Scotch Vellum Tape and wrapping the edges of the vellum around the panel.  I assembled the card following the sketch shown below using GKD Chocolate Brown CS and Patterned Paper from DCWV Safari Chic Matstack.  I die cut some of the wild animals from one of the patterned papers to use on the corners of the card.  I plan to give this card to my DH for our anniversary this month because I am wild about him.

Hello with Bubbles

Hello!  I am playing with another technique that I have never tried - using bubble wrap with ink.  I have a ton of bubble wrap since I never seem to throw it away and seldom use it.  I took a section of the bubble wrap and inked it up with Distress Oxide Ink Picked Raspberry  and pressed it on to a white card stock panel to create a background.  Trimmed this and attached to a White Card Base. I then reinked the bubble wrap and inked and stamped a Repeat Impressions stamp Hello on to white card stock.  I liked the textured look that this achieved and this bold stamp was perfect to use  with the bubble wrap.  Attached the word to Vellum and popped up on the card with foam.

Jar of Lightning Bugs

Hello!  Playing with the Tic Tac Toe Challenge J1019 at The House That Stamps Built.  My card uses stamps all from Repeat Impressions that were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on a Diecut  Card with a fancy fold From Crafter's Companion (part of a prize).  I paper pieced the jar lid with Metallic Gold Paper and added some Dew Drops between the flying insects. I also covered the jar with Light Yellow Vellum.  I placed a strip of Striped Patterned Paper behind the fold. I actually used elements from the top row and also the diagonal row of the challenge.  Does that double my chances? Just kidding!  My photo did not capture very well that this was a step fold but hope you can visualize it.

Winter Snow Globe

Hello!  I was not sure where I was going with this card but wanted to use a Repeat Impressions Snow Globe stamp for the challenge at The House That Stamps Built.  I used the Lighthouse Snowglobe stamp but modified it by eliminating Santa and his sleigh.  I first stamped the globe on Vellum and heat embossed with Clear EP.  I stamped it again with Black ink on white CS and a second time with Memento Nautical Blue( coloring over Santa).  I colored in the image stamped in Black ink with Pencils. I trimmed both of these images and layered under the image on Vellum.  I die cut a circle opening on the Yellow Card base and added the layered snow globe underneath.  I stamped the base of the globe on a Wood Grain Patterned Paper with Versamark and heat embossed with Brown EP.  I fussy cut the base and attached on the card front below the Winter Scene in the globe. Stamped a sentiment from my stash with DOI Walnut Stain and added some die cut vellum snowflakes.   

I could have used acrylic instead of vellum and just stamped and layered the stamped scene under that, but the heat embossed vellum gives a nice texture in real life.

The Library Challenge

Welcome!  One of the most fun challenges that I played with lately is The Library Challenge.

Each challenge will feature a book and you can be inspired by the cover, the title, or the story. The recent Challenge #17 is the book The Woman in the Window.   I was inspired by the colors and brick on the cover of the paperback edition as well as the title using a woman sitting in a window on my card.  As I have read this book and enjoyed the suspense of this thriller,  I did not want to reveal any of the story of the book in case you have not read the book.   But I did include a couple of elements that play in the book, specifically a camera-with a "zoom" lens and a glass of merlot, both shown on the window ledge.  On my card, I featured a woman reading a book in the window but in the book she would more likely be watching an old movie or "spying" out the window.  Read the book and find all about the "woman in the window".  It's a really good suspense story. 

Supplies used: Clear Stamps from Little Claire Designs (Room With a View and Birdcage sets), Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Copics, Clear Vellum(for the window and handmade wine glass), White CS, Yellow CS, Distress Oxide ink Faded Blue, Camera Metal Brad, Sentiment from Jane's Doodles, Scor-pal for scoring brick wall.  The window was stamped on Clear Vellum with black ink and heat embossed with Clear EP.  I layered it between the Brick Wall and the layer with the image. 

My photos show the card with the window closed for the envelope and also opened.

Birthday Card from a Sketch

Hello!  My card today began with a preprinted Perfect Panel from GKD (prize that I won some time ago) which is shown below in the complete assortment.  I stamped a Floral image from Gina K Whimsical Wildflowers bundle set on Clear Vellum with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Gold EP.  I colored the back of the image with Pencils and  cut with a die from the GKD die set. I attached the cut out with Vellum tape to the green circle printed on the panel that I used.  I stamped a sentiment from the same set with Versamark ink and heat embossed with the Gold Metallic EP. Edged the white panel with a Pilot Metallic Gold Marker before attaching to Christmas Pine card stock base.  I used the Sketch #472 from Tuesday Morning Sketches as inspiration for my design.
