Spring Flowers

Hello!  I love tulips and I cannot wait until mine are blooming.  I made this CAS card using  Penny Black stamps from Friendship Flowers set.  I stamped the sentiment and image with Memento Black ink and colored with Pencils and Odorless Mineral oil.  I framed the image with embossing done with a Spellbinders Label die. The photo does not show the embossed frame very well. I saw that technique on a recent Jennifer McGuire video about adding texture with dies. Finished with a pink card base.

Playing with Perfect Pearls

Hello!  I made this card for this week's ModSquad challenge -  we are to use Mica powders like perfect pearls on our card.  I stamped Roses from the Gina K Designs set Rose Bouquet with Versamark ink on GKD Red Velvet CS and applied Perfect Pearls to the image.  I colored the leaves with green pencils. Since I did not have a dark green cardstock to use behind the image, I colored white cardstock with green copics to match and also used versamark on the edges with more of the Perfect Pearls. Wanted some shine on the mat.  I cut the mat with a scalloped square die but manipulated the die to create a rectangle shape (only had the square).  Assembled the card with a white card base.  The GKD sentiment was  stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with GKD White EP. 

(The color of the leaves and the scallop edges match better in real life but does not appear to in the photo.  I might have liked this card better if I had fussy cut the rose image and placed on a different background. )

Butterflies Fly Again

Hello! Sometimes I am immediately inspired by a challenge and know at once what I am going to create but other times, it takes awhile to come up with an idea.  I knew at once what I was going to use for the Just Us Girls Photo Inspiration shown below.   It might not be acceptable but I knew that I wanted to recycle some butterflies that were on a card that I had received some time ago.  I carefully removed two  die cut butterflies that were already enhanced with glitter and gemstones and set aside while I created a card for them.  I printed a digital image of orchids (inspired by the JUGS challenge graphic) that I had from Beccy's Place on Ivory Cardstock and colored with Copics and Pencils and stamped a birthday sentiment from Gina K Designs. I attached the image on a card base of the same Ivory CS and adhered the saved butterflies. I drew on the antennas with a black marker.  I am pleased with the results and happy to have found a use for the beautiful butterflies.

Garden of Roses

Hello!  My favorite cards are made with flower designs.  I used Gina K Designs stamps from Rose Bouquet and Wildflowers (Sentiment) for this card.  The design was inspired by a recent video by Gina K. using ink blending with pencils.  I stamped the Roses with Versamark on white CS and heat embossed with GKD White EP.  I blended DOI Worn Lipstick over the image and then added highlights with Green and Red pencils.  Stamped the sentiment with the same ink. First time to use this lovely sentiment. Used White CS base and GKD Fresh Asparagus card stock for mat.  Love how this turned out.

Krafty Dahlia

Welcome to my studio!  I have been playing with Power Poppy stamps from the Dahlia set to create a card with Kraft Card Stock. I stamped the x-large Dahlia on Kraft and sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and heat embossed the image and sentiment with Clear EP.  I colored the image with Koh-I-Noor Pencils using a bit of OMS.  I trimmed the image and attached to a mat of Red CS and to a base of the Kraft CS.  Simply done but I think the result is Dramatic.

What's On the Menu?

Hello!  I have been trying to think of a card to design for the challenge -It's On the Menu - at Double D.  I first thought of a theme with coffee and cake but then I thought what would be on the menu at an Italian restaurant, maybe where they had a chalkboard menu and al fresco dining?  So I decided to create my card with a chalkboard theme featuring wine served with fresh figs and grapes.  It would be fun to be there on a warm day enjoying ordering from that menu.  I used a pattern paper from My Mine's Eye Chalk Studio pad with the text already printed.  I used a stamp from Flourishes "Dreaming of Florence" set by Marcella Hawley.  I heat embossed the image with White EP and then colored with pencils.  Added some Glossy Accents to the glass and decanter. Inked the edges of the Chalkboard with white ink from Hero Arts. Attached to a card base of Ivory CS.  I was pleased with how the colors came out on the dark paper.

Trio of Cards

 Hello!  Today I have 3 cards to share that I made using the same Gina K stamp set called You Make Me Smile but used different techniques for each card.  The top card was stamped on GKD Moonlit Fog CS with GKD new Amalgam Ink that works perfectly with Copic Markers, Watercolors and Colored Pencils,  I used Pencils to color the image and simply attached to a darker gray card base. 

For the second card, I stamped with the same Amalgam ink on White CS but colored the image with Copics which I favor when coloring flowers. 

I decided to use watercolor paper and Distress Oxide inks for the third card.   I stamped and water colored the image with Picked  Raspberry and Peeled Paint inks using a water brush. 

I had fun playing with new ink and stamps from Gina K that were a birthday gift from my DH.

Coloring on Black

Hello!  It's raining here today so I spent some time in my studio creating some cards.  This one was made for the Come to the Dark Side challenge at Mod Squad.  We are to color an image on dark colored card stock.  I stamped an image from GKD Tropical Blooms set on GKD Black CS with Versamark and heat embossed with Gold EP.  I colored the image with Koh-I-Noor pencils.  I also stamped the sentiment from the same set and  stamped some splatter from GKD Tiny Textures with Versamark Ink and also heat embossed with Gold EP.  I attached the image to a mat of GKD Gold Metallic CS and then to a base card of black.   I thought this resulted in a very dramatic look.

Two Cards, Same Stamps

Hello!  I am sharing 2 cards that I made with stamps from Power Poppy Peony Muse set. The top card was stamped on watercolor paper with Distress Oxide inks Picked Raspberry and Peeled Paint and I colored with a water brush using the same inks plus Fossilized Amber in the background.  The sentiment is from Happy Little Stampers Doodled Flowers.  Used Pink Card Base and Green CS mat. 

For the second card,  I stamped the same stamps with the same inks on Clear Vellum and let dry overnight.  I then filled in the images with Colored Pencils.  I adhered the Vellum Panel with Vellum tape on to a Pink Card Base and finished with Happy Birthday die cut from the Pink CS using Cheery Lynn dies. This card looks better in real life than it does in the photo.

Thank You Card

Welcome! Today's card was made for 2 challenges... 1.Mod Squad Challenge It's all in the Color-to make a card or project using no white or ivory on the front. 2. Power Poppy -Power and Spark Challenge to use Portion Control...Create a project using only a portion of an image or of multiple images. No full images allowed .
I stamped a portion  of Power Poppy Poppies stamp in 2 corners of a Green Sage CS panel with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Gold EP.  I colored the images with Koh-I-noor Pencils.  I stamped the sentiments from PP Vibrant Thanks set with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Gold EP.  The word Thanks was triple embossed with the Gold EP to give a more dimensional look.  (Saw this tip from Jennifer McQuire).  Finished with a Gold Metallic CS mat and a Red card base and Gold sequins.
This card looks much better in real life than in the photo.  Always hard for me to photograph shiny surfaces and get the true colors.

Chinese Lanterns Make a Sunny Day

Welcome! A third post for today.  As the month nears the end, I am trying to enter some challenges that end soon.  This card was made for the challenge at Power Poppy to use Kraft colored paper for a project.  I decide to use Power Poppy stamps from the Sunny Harvest set.  I tried several mediums on Kraft CS including Distress Oxide Inks and Markers without success and then used pencils to color the image after stamping with Memento Rich Cocoa ink on the Kraft.  This came out to my liking.  I added Glossy Accents to the red berries and used Sakura Clearstar Pen on the Lanterns.  I cut the image with a Spellbinders Die and attached it to a Layer of Metallic Copper CS and then to a layer of Rusty Orange CS and a card base of Green.
 The Power Poppy sentiment was stamped with Versamark and embossed with Copper Metallic EP.  The Copper CS and EP look really good in real life and add a lot to my card.  I wished that they showed better in the photo.

Bearing Flowers

Hello! This sweet card uses a Penny Johnson stamp Bear Flowers.  I stamped the image on Kraft CS with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored with pencils and odorless mineral spirits(OMS).  I added a GKD sentiment using the same ink.  I simply framed with a Pink CS mat and then placed on a textured Green card base.  I found this forgotten unused stamp in my studio when searching for something else.  This will be another card for my Mother who is 97 years young Friday.

Spring Pink Tulips

Another cloudy morn in Florida, so I am posting a card for the Mix It Up Monday Challenge at Stamp TV.  We are to make a Spring Look with no Black used on our creation.   As Pink and Green are my favorite spring colors and tulips are one of my favorite spring flowers, I combined them in my card using Gina K Design tulip stamp from Melanie's A Year of Flowers 2 and a sentiment from Stippled Nature.
 Other supplies:  Memento Green and Pink inks, Pink and Green Pencils, White and Pink CS,  Yellow Glaze Pen, Cuttlebug EF Gingham,  snippet of a ribbon from a tag on a clothing purchase.

Another Cabin in the Woods

Second Post Today
I have used the same stamps as in my previous post to create a One Layer Masculine card for the Less Is More challenge.  What guy does not like a trip to a cabin to spend some time fishing or other guy things?   After stamping the images with the technique Masking using Memento Rich Cocoa, I colored with Pencils and Markers.

Bouquet of Thanks

Hello! Today I am a bit square.....a square card that is.  I make very few square designs but sometimes the image dictates to be square and a bit bigger too.  So I made this card 5.5"x 5.5" to best show the lovely image from Power Poppy's Countryside Bouquet Deluxe.  The card was made with challenges in mind for a sketch, color combo, and use of pencils.  The Bouquet was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on White CS and colored with Koh-I-Noor Pencils and OMS.  I heat embossed a bit of Wow Yellow EP on the center of the White Flowers and a bit of Ranger White EP on the petals of the same flowers.  This gave some texture and shimmer on the bouquet.  I trimmed the image with Lawn Fawn Stitched circle die.  The card was completed with a Gray Card Base, 3 strands of Yellow Satin Ribbons,  and a sentiment from Power Poppy Lavender set. I really am pleased with the results.

Poppies with Pencils

 Hello! Thanks for stopping by.  Today my card is made with a new stamp set from Power Poppy called Poppies.  I stamped the image with Memento Espresso Truffle ink and colored with Koh-I-Noor pencils and OMS and used a Black Glaze pen on the center of the Poppy.  I trimmed the edge and layered the image on Red Paper. The Black Background embossed with Cuttlebug EF Gingham and the striped panel are from Fancy Pants Trend Setter paper pad. The card base is GKD Tomato Soup. I finished with a sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and a Black Satin Ribbon and Double Bow.

Succulents with Pencils

Welcome to my studio!  Today I am playing with Power Poppy stamps from the Sassy Succulents set.  I stamped the sentiment and three pots of the succulents with Memento Espresso Truffle ink on white CS and colored with Koh-I-Noor and OMS.  I loved how the coloring with pencils turned out.  I really did not start with a design and just let the layout evolve.  I used Spellbinders Regal Frame dies to embossed and cut the frame.  I inked the raised areas to bring out the embossing but afraid it does not show well in this photo.  I placed the framed images on a Pear Tart card base. 
Not quite the look I wanted but it works for a few challenges.
