Embossing with Dies

Hello! It is fun to use dies for embossing and it is interesting what you can do with that technique.  To make a card with die embossing, I chose an older die from Cheery Lynn, the first one I bought from that company. For the top card, I embossed the large Fanciful Flourish die along with Cheery Lynn Thank You dies on a panel of White cardstock. I sponged it with DOI Vintage Photo to achieve an antique distressed look.  I stamped some flowers on pink card stock with Memento Pink ink using a Heartfelt Creations Rose stamp. I fussy cut the flowers and attached with foam tape. Attached to a pink card base to finish.

I decided to make another card but made it more CAS with out the background inked giving more white space.  For this one I only used the Fanciful Flourish die for embossing and stamped the GKD Sentiment with Memento Brown ink. I stamped the same flower - 2 directly on the card and one that I stamped on white Cardstock and fussy cut. I stamped the roses with same pink ink  and colored with pencil and markers.  I distressed the edge of the panel with DOI Walnut Stain and used a brown card base.

Love the Stars

Hello! This card was made with stamps and dies from a Hero Arts kit.  I used Distress Oxide inks to create the background on white cardstock and added gold embossed stars and die cut stars from gold metallic cardstock.  The sentiment was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Used card base of black cardstock and a mat of gold metallic cardstock.

'57 Chevy

Hello! I am having fun making cards with cars as my focus...a perfect theme for cards for Father's Day. I think I will share this with my 90 year old uncle who has a love of great cars. I am posting this Father's Day card using the sketch of a Chevy from Digi Sketch Challenge and a digital image from Doodle Pantry. I used a pre-color digi  that made this an easy card to create.

Happy Occasion

Hello again.   I am sharing an anniversary card that I made for a friend celebrating 50 years of marriage  this month.  My card is fairly simple but I hope it is elegant.  I printed the sentiment in gold on white CS using Photoshop and placed it in a frame cut with Nesties Scalloped Oval Dies.  This was attached with pop up dots to the Gold Metallic Cardstock card base that I embossed with Cuttlebug  EF Kassie's Brocade.   I cut the right edge with  Martha Stewart Border punch and added delicate pearls.   I added an Organza Ribbon with Gold Thread to the left side.  For the inside, I printed my personalized message in gold on Parchment Paper.

Girl Stuff and a Little Bling

Second Post today:  Some of the challenge deadlines are near closing so I had to do another post.

I  do not make too many "Girlie" Cards but I just had to used stamps from Mark's Finest Paper You've Got Style  to create a card for a challenge to use heels, hats, and handbags and used the sketch challenge from The Kraft Journal. I threw in some punches and dies to meet some other challenges.   I stamped the handbag on white cardstock using Memento Espresso Truffle ink and then paper pieced with Kraft paper and colored with pencils and a gold metallic pen. The shoes were stamped with the same ink on Red paper and fussy cut. The sentiment was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with Zing EP Chestnut and cut with a spellbinders word window die. The flowers were punched with SU flower punches from paper in Fancy Pants Design Trend Setter paper pad. Cut a circle with Nesties die and stamped Wow with Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink. I assembled all the elements and just had to add red rhinestones ....what girlie card does not have Bling?  This was a fun card to create.

Water Everywhere!

Hello!  With all the rain we have been having, I have not been able to work in my gardens therefore I decided to make cards. This card was inspired by this pattern paper from gcd Studio by Kathy Davis which brings to mind water gardens and water lilies.  I used a Water Lily stamp that I believe is Mark's Finest Papers but is missing the ID.   I used a sketch from Seize the Sketch and arranged 3 pattern papers as the background and added punched vines to the center. These were punched with Martha Stewart Vine Trim border punch from scraps of green cardstock.  The image was stamped with Memento Espresso Truffle ink on white cardstock and colored with Copics BG01,10,11, Y006, YG 63,99, G99 and Yellow Glaze pen and sponged with Memento Summer Sky ink.  A yellow dragonfly brad landed on the upper corner. Other supplies used were Nesties oval dies.  I will add a sentiment when I use the card.

To Make a Card Or Clean House

My plan today was to get an early start on some neglected housework but my urge to make a card won out.  I am blaming that on the challenge at City Crafter blog who by the way are celebrating their 4th Birthday.  Their challenge is to CASE one of the cards shown on their blog today.  I chose to CASE the card shown at left.  I seldom Case cards because I am not sure how much to copy....it does mean Copy And Share Everything, doesn't it?
I may have gone too far because I used the layout, theme, ribbon, pennants, twine, flowers, stitching, and bicycle theme.  I even tried to mimic the same pattern papers.  You be the judge of if I over did the CASEing.  But anyway I like the way the card turned out.

Round in Circles

Never too early to start on Christmas cards.  For this one, I used some new to me pattern papers from Pebbles' Welcome Christmas pad.  I started with base card of stripe pattern layered with Merry Christmas text pattern...no need for a sentiment with this paper?  Added 2 dry embossed circles cut with Nesties  dies and an ornament with Santa, a Print and Cut File made with my Cameo. Finished with a bit of green ribbon and a yellow star cut with Sizzix die.  I used last week's sketch from Paper Players but missed their challenge deadline.

Is Glitter Clean?

Welcome! I have a question  today.  Is a card made with glitter ok to enter in a challenge to make a CAS card because I think working with glitter is very messy not clean at all.  At least for me, I get glitter on everything and every where.  I began this card by covering a piece of Glossy Blue cardstock with scor-tape and cut with a scalloped heart die. After exposing the sticky side, I sprinkled with Crystal glitter and attached to a larger heart of the Glossy Blue CS. I attached the layered heart to a card base of textured Black CS and added the cut out with the sentiment that was heat embossed in silver EP.

Falling Leaves

Today my thoughts are of falling leaves :

Drift by my window

Leaves are every where outside and my DH is working hard to keep them picked up but the leaves are winning that battle.
My card was inspired by Stamp TV challenge Falling for Fall  and I used Tuesday Morning Sketch for the layout.

Fall Is In the Air

I love the feel of fall and the colors of fall leaves. This week Joan's Gardens has a fall color challenge - Include Leaves on your card , Fall colors, Tree and/or bird , and use a product sold at Joan's Gardens. I made the background paper using a sheet of clear vellum paper and drops of SU reinkers Real Red, Old Olive, More Mustard, and Ruby Red squirted on a crafting mat.  I laid the paper on the mat and created this very fall colored paper. After drying my vellum paper, I attached it to cardstock and embossed with Cuttlebug EF Birds and Swirls. I glued this to a base card of Pumpkin. Since I had out the reinkers, I then added ink to some paper towels to create a multi color pad of the fall colors. Using an old PSX Maple leaf stamp I stamped leaves on Orange cardstock and fussy cut and placed with pop up dots on my card. The sentiment from GKD was stamped with Memento Espresso Truffle ink on the orange cardstock and trimmed with a Spellbinders tag die. Added a bit of grosgrain ribbon. Also added a bird of Copper Metallic cardstock punched with a Marianne die.

Card Close to My Heart

 

 

This card is composed of die cut ovals, a handmade flower, a lovely bow, stitching, a lovely sentiment, lovely lavender and a touch of green. I am entering into 4 challenges:

No Matter Which Way Challenge has their final challenge which is Anything Goes and using a sentiment as your stamp is permitted.

The Ribbon Girl Blog's  Challenge is to simply Add a Bow.

My card follows all the guidelines for Joan's Gardens challenge  to use a plain background, a double oval, a sentiment, any color combination of at least 2, and must use a product sold at Joan's.  It was hard to keep the background plain....wanted to emboss or something.

The challenge at Cheery Lynn Designs Blog is to follow the theme of IN STITCHES and use at least one Cheery Lynn Designs die. I did a faux stitching around the edge of the card with a green Gelly Roll pen. (hope faux is acceptable). I like my corner embellishments.

For this card I used Cheery Lynn Swedish Spring Oval Frame Nesties classic oval dies. I also used Cheery Lynn Ambergris small doily die which I cut into 4 parts to use as my corner embellishments. My flower was made using Cheery Lynn Build a Flower #1 and #2.  I used a flower making kit from Joan's. The Flower was made from scraps. The Cheery Lynn products can all be purchased at Joan's also. 
The  card base is a White cardstock from stash and the Swedish Frame is cut from a shimmery iridescent white card stock which I hope shows in the photo. The lavender paper is from Joan's. I stamped a sentiment from Flourishes Heart Lines in Memento Sweet Plum ink on the lavender oval and finished with a Lavender Bow of sheer organza ribbon.

Enjoy Your Day

Welcome to my studio. I have been very busy gardening and working outside.  Maybe I will share some pictures later.  Today I am posting a card for Joan's Gardens weekly challenge.  We are to use Yellow and White as the color theme, use at least 2 butterflies, use some Polka Dots, include some type of swirl(s),  and use a product sold at Joan's Gardens.   I began by cutting a flourish from White CS with a Cheery Lynn Die, embossed this with Cuttlebug Swiss Dots, and layered this on a Yellow CS card base. I added 3 flowers made with Heartfelt Creations Daisy Patch die (smallest die) and polka dots fabric brads.  I found these cute  brads in my stash when looking for something else and they were just the right thing for my card. The 2 butterflies were made with Cheery Lynn's dies using the angel wing die for the larger one.The larger butterfly was folded and attached with foam tape. The sentiment from Creative Vision was stamped with Memento Peanut Brittle ink. I think I have covered all the requirements. Cheery Pansy in Purple

 

Today I played making Pansies with Cheery Lynn's Build a Flower Dies.  I was inspired to do so after seeing Selma's great tutorial on making pansies seen on her blog Selma's Stamping Corner  here.
Thanks to Selma for her tutorials. After making this pansy, I decided to create a card for Cheery Lynn Design Challenges Pretty in Purple.  I used a glossy white base card, added a mat of purple, topped that with a ribbon, and then added a doily of white, and finished with the purple pansy and butterfly.  I used a sentiment from Flourishes.

Found Some Shamrocks

I am down to the wire for deadline for entering Sassy Cheryl's Challenge to make a CAS card. I think this fits  the challenge. I simply printed the The Saint Bear digi and colored with Copics and a Gold glitter pen for the buckle on his hat.  I sponged a bit of Memento Summer Sky ink behind the bear.  I used a Green Card Stock from my stash. Finished with a printed sentiment from Meljens that I cut with a Spellbinders word die. Added some small green buttons to the Shamrocks.

Shopping Our Stash Weekly: Use your old buttons. The little green  buttons have been in my stash a few years.

Speedy the Fox has a Photo Inspired Challenge

Good Morning and welcome!  We have an interesting challenge at Speedy Fox and Friends this week---A Photo Inspiration Challenge.   Be inspired by the photo shown on the left to make a card. It will be interesting to see what you come up with so please join in and you could win a stamp from Mark's Finest Paper, a Heinrich Co. You have until 3PM on Friday, October 19, 2012, to enter the challenge here.  If you use Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co. stamp, your name will be entered into the drawing twice.  I was a bit stumped but finally came up with a card using "Autumn Splendor" set by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.  I used Scor-pal to set up a tile design for the background and sponged with Memento Inks. I layered this on a white card base. Added a green flourish cut with Cheery Lynn Die "Fanciful Flourish" and then added the Owl and Leaves with Acorns that I stamped, embossed (Leaves),   colored with Copics and fancy cut. I used colors brown, gray, yellow, taupe and tan  from the photo to inspire my choice of colors. Finished with sentiment using Memento Pistachio.

This is a card that I made for Joan's Gardens Challenge but before I get in to that, I want to thank my friend and neighbor, Rita. Due to her, this card was made possible because I borrowed from her the die for the lattice, the stamp for the bird, and even the flower I think was punched with one of her punches.  I came across the punched flowers in a stash of precut flowers that I did some time ago and I think it was from a punch of Rita's.  The floral background was even from some scrap leftover from some cards we had made together for a club project.

Now back to the challenge. For Joan's Gardens Weekly Challenge #31 we are to use a framed lattice background , any type of flowers , a  bird , and a vertical greeting.  I think I have all the elements covered.  Used 3 layers for flower which I embossed with Clear EP and stacked with pop up dots and used unknown Black Brad for center. My card is sized 5" x 7" to better use the lattice.
