Watering Can with Lilacs

Hello! Thanks for stopping by, Today I am sharing a card that I created for the Double D Challenge Something with a Handle. I made this a couple of days ago and forgot to post until today.  I used stamps and dies from a Hero Arts kit from July 2017.  The watering can was stamped on and cut from silver metallic CS and I used white CS and Copics for the Lilacs,  The sentiment was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with Wow Silver EP. Used a shiny textured green CS from Bazzil for the background which made it hard to photograph because of the reflection.

Recycling Catalog Photos for Cards

Hello! I have not been blogging much in the past 2 months but hope to get back in the routine of posting and visiting other blogs this month.  I have started the year by trying to use up some of my stash and saved items to clean up my studio. I will share more of those projects later.  I am always seeing useful items for cards in all paper goods including magazines, advertising, catalogs, napkins, cards etc. that I receive.  

Today I am sharing several cards that I made for a package that I will be mailing to a Life Care Center.  Since I was looking for some ideas for quick and easy Easter cards to create for the nursing home, I was inspired to use photos of flowers from a plant catalog ( I seem to receive one almost weekly).  As I was about to throw the latest envelope with ads away, I thought how the photos would make lovely cards using some colorful card bases and simple sentiments.  For the card bases I used Yellow, Pink, and Green textured cardstock from Bazzill that I found at Tuesday Morning.  I trimmed the photos and attached to the card bases and then added  Easter sentiments that I stamped with some  Hero Arts and  Gina K stamps. Used Black Versafine ink for stamping. The photos shown include about 31 of the 45 cards that I have made.  I printed a verse for inside the cards on white cardstock and attached to the inside.

I thought this was a productive way to use something rather than just add to the trash. I hope the cards make someone smile and feel that they are remembered at Easter.

These Boots are Made for Flowers

Hello!  I have been searching my digital files again and found a great digital paper from Paper Crafter Magazine featuring colorful rain boots.  This inspired me to create a card with Rain Boots and Flowers for the Double D Challenge Showers and Flowers.....the mood board below shows pink boots filled with flowers. I stamped the boots on pink card stock with a Hero Arts Stamp and die cut with a Hero Arts die both from one of their monthly kits. The flowers in the boots were made with stamps and dies from the same kit. I colored the flowers with Copics and assembled with the boots on a layered die cut panel. Attached this to the patterned paper that I printed and used a white card base.  Stamped the sentiment from Penny Black with Blue DOI.  It's fun to find something in my digital files and used in a fun way!

Wreath with Holly

Hello!  I have yet another Christmas card with a wreath.  I made this some time ago but never posted. I used stamps from a Hero Arts monthly kit with red and green inks.  The sentiment was heat embossed with Silver EP.  The circle was die cut with a Lawn Fawn die.  I used a silver foiled Patterned Paper as the background  also from the kit and a glossy white card base.

Christmas Inchies

Hello!  Today I have a Christmas card made with Inchies.  I stamped 3 white cardstock inch squares with Hero Arts stamps from the October 2017 kit and colored the sleigh, gifts, and Santa's bag with Copics  and placed on squares of Red Glitter paper.  I embossed a strip of the White CS with a Christmas EF from Cards & Papercraft and inked the raised surfaces of the words with red ink. Assembled the card on a base of Red CS and added a couple strips of the Red Glitter Card Stock.

CAS Mix Up Challenge: September challenge-Inchies + Stamping + Your choice.  I added dry embossing and glitter. 

ABC Christmas Challenge: S for Sparkle and T for Texture. The glitter paper adds both sparkle and texture to my card.

Tis the Season

Hello!  I was inspired by the sketch challenge at The Paper Players challenge in the making of this card and I threw in some stripes and dots for the Double D challenge.  I ended up with another Christmas card for my stash using some stamps from a Hero Arts 2017 kit.  Other Supplies used:  GKD Ivory CS, Scraps of Red CS, 3 Patterned papers from DCWV Christmas Basics Stack, Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink, Copics, Stickles for Sparkle,  Green Satin Ribbon. Fun card to make.

Catch a Falling Star

Hello!  I have been playing with the sketch at Tuesday Morning sketch but took a few liberties and did not make a square card and instead of a horizontal strip under the center panel, I placed a horizontal element lower on my card. Not sure where the inspiration for the subject originated but I began with a Blue Foiled Pattern Paper from Kaisercraft pad and teamed it up with Blue Foiled Cardstock from DCWV.  For the image, I used a stamp with Memento Paris Dusk ink on a white cardstock square and embossed with Clear EP a couple of times.  I did the same with the sentiment that I fussy cut. Other supplies: Stamps and Dies from Hero Arts August 2017 Kit, Gold Metallic CS.  I took several photos but think the one above best shows the shine from the foiled papers and the embossing.

Sunny Thoughts

Hello!  I have a CAS card made with stamps and dies from a Hero Arts kit.  I used Twisted Citron Distress ink to sponge an rectangle area using a die.  I then stamped some flowers with more Distress Oxide inks Broken China, Wilted Violet, Picked Raspberry and Peeled Paint.  Added some mason jars stamped with Versamark and embossed with Silver EP on vellum and die cut.  Finished with a strip (shelf) of Dry Embossed White CS.  The sentiment was stamped on vellum with Black Ink and heat embossed with clear EP and fussy cut. That was adhered with Vellum tape. Attached this to a card base of GKD Grass Green CS.

Galaxy with Love

Hello! This card was inspired by the challenge Trend Week #423  at Just Us Girls to use  a Galaxy Background/Night Sky.  I actually began with a piece of White CS that I had used to absorb a spill of Metallic Blueberry Mist shown below.  I cut a section of the paper and layered with some Distress Oxide inks using Black Soot, Faded Jeans, Fossilized Amber, and Wilted Violet until I got the galaxy look. The sparkle from the Metallic mist shows in real life but not so much in the photo.  I stamped Stars and Sentiment from Hero Arts with Versamark and heat embossed with Gold EP.  Used a Gold Metallic CS for the card base.

Red, White + Pop of Green

Hello!  I have been playing with the challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches and used it almost verbatim. I used Hero Arts stamps and dies  for the focus area and Gina K stamps and dies for the snowflakes. The red background layer was embossed with Crafter's Companion Nordic EF (design of snowflakes and reindeer). I inked the edge with white and layered on the ovals, die cuts, added white enamel dots and red nail heads.  Used Green card base to finish.

The Train's A Coming

Welcome!  It's almost December which means it's almost Christmas.  And I have a Christmas card inspired by the sketch below.  I used stamps from Hero Arts kit that I colored with Copics and fussy cut the train and tree that I added to white squares matted with Green CS. Stamped the Hero Arts sentiment with Memento ink. Finished with a Red card base.

Al's List to Santa

Hello!  I wanted to make a Santa card for the Challenge at Merry Monday Christmas and decided to use one of my files from Silhouette - Santa's face by Sarah Bailey.  I printed and cut the image and used it with an old pattern paper from Webster Pages Waiting for Santa pad.  I stamped a couple of sentiments from Hero Arts and wrote on the list to Santa for my DH.  Need to add Book to the list since there is one more line. Finished with a Green Card Base that matched the pattern. 

For fun, I added a little twinkle to Santa's eyes  with Clear Star pen.  Even without his hat, you know this is Santa.

Join Me for a Pumpkin Latte

 Hello! This project was made for the Scor-pal October Challenge #42 Treat Holders to use more than one score.  I used a simple template for a K-cup holder to make this coffee treat.  To make the holder, use one sheet of cardstock and trim to 8.25" by 10.25" and score and trim lines as shown in the diagram below.  Cut circles for the cups and oval on the handle. I am not sure of the source for this template but I found it in one of my files.  I scored using my Scor-pal and cut & trimmed necessary areas and folded the sections and adhered with double sided tape.  I decorated using stamps and dies from September Hero Arts kit and inserted a couple of Cappuccino Pumpkin Lattes.

Dreaming of You

Hello! This one layer card was made using stamps and dies from Hero Arts August Kit.  I stamped the girl in flight and cloud with Memento Tuxedo Black and heat embossed with Clear EP.  I cut masks for the girl and cloud with dies.  I also cut a mask with an oval die.  Using the masks I sponged Distress Ink Faded Jeans and added "stars" with Pilot Metallic Silver marker. Finished with the Hero Arts sentiment in the same black ink.   The card below was my first attempt at this design but I messed it up when I misted with Metallic Blueberry mist and the mist leaked under the mask and went beyond the oval.  I saved the image by cutting an oval window in a card base of White CS and attached the image under the opening.

Counting Sheep

Welcome!  I just had to make a card with the cute Sheep stamp and die in the August Hero Arts kit.  I made a Sky background inking a white CS panel with Distress Oxide Ink Faded Jeans and misted it with Metallic Blueberry Mist and Gold Shimmer Mist (from kit) and added dots and stars with a Pilot Metallic Silver marker. I stamped the sentiment Dreaming of You with Versamark and heat embossed with Wow Silver EP. Stamped clouds on Vellum and heat embossed with White Puff EP and die cut.  Stamped the 5 Sheep on white CS with Black ink and die cut.  Attached them with pop-up Glue Dots to the background lauer. Attached to a Metallic (Mirror) Silver card base and finished with a single Star die cut from the same Metallic CS.
