Merry Little Christmas

Welcome!  Changing seasons up a bit ….going from fall to Christmas cards.  I recently received some Heartfelt Creations paper pads that I bought with a prize that I won.  The paper that I used on this card is from the Festive Holly Collection.  I trimmed the first panel and placed on a red mat and then on a white panel embossed with Snowflakes lightly inked with blue ink.  Added texture to the scene with a Snow Marker and Glossy Accents.  Placed this on a card base of the  GKD Red CS.  Did not have to stamp a sentiment since it was printed already on the panel.  I attached another panel to the inside which I will complete later with a stamped or handwritten note on a white panel. (See below). Card made without use of stamps.

Happy Fall to Y'all

Hello! Yesterday was the first day of fall and the leaves are already falling even before they change colors.  I created the background for this card using leaves from my yard (actually did this a few years ago).  I placed the leaves on a printer and scanned them to a file on my computer....sort of created my own digital patterned paper.  Took a few trials before I got them arranged to my liking.  To make my card I just printed the leaves on a white card stock. Trimmed the image and attached it to a layer of Yellow CS inked with a wine Copics.  I used a card base of Gold Yellow CS.  For the focus of my card, I stamped a sentiment from Gina K Designs A Year of Leaves (2009) set with Distress Ink Aged Mahogany on a panel of the Gold CS  and distressed the edges with the same ink.

Double D Challenges: Focus on the Sentiment
Retro Rubber Challenge: #120 Anything Goes.  Stamp is about 10 years old.

Over the Edge

Hello! I have been playing with the Creative Confetti Challenge Over the Edge...take your main image over the edge of your card.  I used Power Poppy stamps from Dahlia XL.  I stamped the Dahlia on White CS and cut the upper part of the image with an xacto knife since I did not have a die. I folded over the upper uncut edge and trimmed the card to measure 4.25" x 5.5".  I colored the image with Copics and added a sentiment stamped on vellum that I trimmed with a label die and added a bit of ribbon.  I decide to keep the design fairly simple.

Coneflowers and Butterfly

Hello! I have been playing with Repeat Impressions stamp Daisies and Butterfly to make a card for  the Palette Inspiration Challenge S1819 at The House That Stamps Built.  (see Below)  Two of the Design Team made cards with the same stamp...it is perfect for this challenge so I also used.  I stamped the image on white card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics using all the colors of the palette.  I trimmed the image and attached to a background paper that I embossed with Divine Swirls EF.  I sanded the raised surface to distress it a little. Added the purple card base to finish.  I stamped part of a Repeat Impressions sentiment to make this a card for a birthday.

Thank You with Poppies

Hello! I have another CAS card today!  I am  playing with some challenges to use only one third of the space of a card.  I die cut a white panel with Memory Box Darling Poppies and then also cut from Green CS and twice from a 2 sided patterned paper from First Edition Blank Canvas pad.  I attached the cut panel to a card base of the Floral Patterned paper and then filled in with the solid and print flower.  Stamped the sentiment from GKD stamps with Memento green ink. Clean and easy!
(To determine if I use only one third of the space,  I cut a piece of paper 5.5" x 4.25" and fold into a third of that and hold over my card either vertically or horizontally to plan my design.)
Challenges:
AAA Cards: Challenge CAS Game #149-Up to one third + optional twist an inlaid die
Perfectly CAS: Challenge #1- Using one third or less-Flowers.  NEW challenge!

Poinsettias are Tropical

Welcome!  Today I am sharing a CAS card that I made with Penny Black stamps from the Wonder Collection.  I stamped the Poinsettia with DOI Fired Brick on watercolor paper and using a water brush,  I water colored the image using DOI Fired Brick and Peeled Paint.  I added some gold to the flowers in the  center with Versamark Ink and Gold EP.  I decided to add some more ink around the image but I got a little carried away trying to be a bit artsy.  Also distressed the edges with the red ink. I attached the image to a card base of GKD Fresh Asparagus CS and  stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set.
Did you know that Poinsettia is a tropical flower? And that the bright colors on the poinsettias are actually leaf bracts, not flowers.  The flowers are small and found in the yellow center of the stalk.
Challenges:
CAS Watercolor Challenge: September use Complementary Colors.  Used only red and green inks.
Happy Little Stampers : Watercolor Challenge Anything Goes+ Optional: Tropical.  Used Poinsettia which is a tropical flower.
Penny Black Saturday Challenge: Anything Goes-Optional use something old or neglected. Stamps are about 5 years old.

Buttons on My Tag

Hello!  I have so many buttons in my craft stash and I love when I find any use for them.  I keep saying I am going to make some jewelry with some of them but never have.  But I did use some of them on a tag that I am entering in Tag You're It! Challenge #96 which inspired me to pull out some square buttons featuring flowers and one has a butterfly.  I believe I receive these in a Blog Candy or maybe found in a garage sale. Not sure!  I found a dotted pattern paper with some glitter effects that I thought was perfect as a background for the buttons.  I shaped my own tag design using my trimmer and some corner punches.  Stamped words on a ivory panel with GKD Fresh Asparagus ink using stamps from GKD Tropical Flowers set. Sewed on the buttons with green twine found in my leftovers.  The bit of twine was just enough for the tag.  Finished with a round pink button and the last of the twine for attaching the tag to a gift. (I colored the button with a Copic marker to better coordinate with the colors.) Used foam tape to adhere the two panels together.

Falling Leaves

Welcome to the studio!  Today I am playing with the challenge #119 at Retro Rubber to use fall colors orange, red, and brown in a card using a stamp older than 1 year old.  I used GKD stamps from A Year of Leaves set that is dated 2009.  I stamped leaves and a sentiment using DOI Vintage Photo and Fired Brick on water color paper and used a water brush to color the leaves with DOI Spiced Marmalade, Fired Brick and Walnut Stain.  I attached to a card base of GKD Dark Chocolate CS.  After making the top photo of my card,  I decided to add some splashes of color and made a second photo.  Not sure which I like the best but the top one is more CAS.

I then colored in the butterflies with Memento Cantaloupe marker and sponged the remaining white area with Memento Summer Sky ink.  I trimmed the panel and attached to a card base of Gina K Yellow CS.  Stamped the GKD sentiment with  the DOI.

A Harvest of Sunflowers

Hello!  I have attempted to create a card with an antique or sepia tone but think I have a bit too much yellow tone instead of sepia. I decided to share my card anyway.  I used Power Poppy stamps from Sunny Harvest set and stamped the image with DOI Antique Linen on Ivory CS and colored with some of my lightest tone Copics-E0000, E00, YR0000, YR000, Y00, Y23, YG91,  B0000, G0000.  I embossed the lower part of the panel and inked the raised surfaces with Antique Linen ink.  Did a little distressing with ink  around the edges....always gives an antique look.  I added a very Pale Satin ribbon before attaching to a background of patterned paper from MME Chalk Studio pack.

Birthday with Tulips

Welcome to my studio! Today I am taking time out from fall theme cards and used a Tulip stamp from Stacy Stamps to create a square birthday card.  This corner stamp needs a square design to best utilize the stamp. I stamped the tulips with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on heavy White CS and colored with Copics. I let the tulips be the star of the design by simply adhering to a Green card base and adding die cut words cut in the Green CS with Cheery Lynn dies.
Challenges:

Roses Wrapped Up

Hello!  I just found these photos of a card that I made some time ago and never posted or entered into a challenge.  It was the first time that I used Simon Says Modern Card Wrap Die to create a card. I also used a new Gina K stamp set Topical Flowers.  I cut the card base with the die from Bright Pink CS and folded the sides..  For the insert I used White CS cut 4.25" x 8.5" and folded.  On the front I stamped the Rose image in Black Ink and Colored with Copics.   On the inside I stamped the same image in Gray ink and added a sentiment and flower with Versamark and embossed with Pink EP.   I will also write a personal message inside.  I attached the white card inside the pink wrap and tied with a pink satin ribbon.  You can see in the photos how the square card was assembled.

Elephants Don't Forget

Hello!  I am sharing a CAS card that I made for the AAA Cards sketch challenge + a optional twist animals.  I found a patterned paper in my scraps that reminded me of a scene on the Serengeti so I started with a strip of that paper. I stamped an elephant from the GKD Wild About You set on Gray CS with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Fussy cut the elephant and attached to the patterned strip.  Added some ink to the tusks and ears and stamped a sentiment from the same set.  Assembled the card with Ivory card base and mat. Was pleased with out this turned out.
Challenges:

Falling Leaves

Hello! I have been playing with some old patterned papers and found this scrap of a digital paper from All About Autumn digital paper pack that I downloaded from Stamp TV some time ago and printed on a glossy cardstock.  The scrap was just the right size to create a tag.  I stamped a strip of Ivory CS with a leaf from A Year of Leaves and a sentiment from a freebie set both from Gina K Designs.  The leaf was heat embossed with Gold EP and colored with a gold Copics.  The sentiment was stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa ink.  I assembled the tag with layers of Dark Chocolate CS, Metallic Gold Ribbon, and a Gold Gem. All papers and stamps are GKD.
