Butterfly and Zinnias

Hi Friends!  This card is for the Creative Confetti Challenge-Make It With Metal. I used stamps from Power Poppy set Vibrant Thanks.  I stamped the zinnias, one of my favorite summer flowers, with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with Copics and used a Gelly Pen in the centers. Stamped the sentiment with Distress Oxide Ink Fired Brick. Used GKD Yellow and Grass Green cardstocks for the layers of my design.  Since butterflies are always flying around my zinnias, I added a metal butterfly charm (from my stash) for the metal element on the card.

The Library Challenge

Welcome!  One of the most fun challenges that I played with lately is The Library Challenge.

Each challenge will feature a book and you can be inspired by the cover, the title, or the story. The recent Challenge #17 is the book The Woman in the Window.   I was inspired by the colors and brick on the cover of the paperback edition as well as the title using a woman sitting in a window on my card.  As I have read this book and enjoyed the suspense of this thriller,  I did not want to reveal any of the story of the book in case you have not read the book.   But I did include a couple of elements that play in the book, specifically a camera-with a "zoom" lens and a glass of merlot, both shown on the window ledge.  On my card, I featured a woman reading a book in the window but in the book she would more likely be watching an old movie or "spying" out the window.  Read the book and find all about the "woman in the window".  It's a really good suspense story. 

Supplies used: Clear Stamps from Little Claire Designs (Room With a View and Birdcage sets), Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Copics, Clear Vellum(for the window and handmade wine glass), White CS, Yellow CS, Distress Oxide ink Faded Blue, Camera Metal Brad, Sentiment from Jane's Doodles, Scor-pal for scoring brick wall.  The window was stamped on Clear Vellum with black ink and heat embossed with Clear EP.  I layered it between the Brick Wall and the layer with the image. 

My photos show the card with the window closed for the envelope and also opened.

Falling Leaves

Hello!  The leaves are falling but it has been too wet to rake.  I was inspired by a pattern paper scrap that I found in my stash to create this Falling Leaf theme card.  I used a very old PSX stamp with Versamark ink and Gold EP with Ivory CS to create the focus. The sentiment used was an older GKD stamp.  Used mats and die cut(Spellbinders Regal Frame) on the corner cut from textured metallic Gold CS.  Added a leaf  metal embellishment and Ivory Card Base.

Traveling by Train

Hello!  I made this card using some of my older masculine stamps with a bit of trash...metal trash that is,  to enter into some challenges with a sketch,  colors,  and use of metal request.  I pulled out a GKD stamp set Life is Good that I have had since 2010 and stamped the Train on White CS with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics.  I added a sentiment from the same set.  I attached this to a Dark Gray card base and then added striped DCWV pattern paper with my embellishment made with Orange seam binding tape and metal tabs from soda cans.  I thought metal tabs went well with the metal feel of the locomotive.

Happy Birthday for the Man in My Life

Recently I viewed a video by Melanie using the Inspiration Mosaic Frame Stamp  and I thought that would be a great stamp to create a Masculine Birthday card for Mod Squad Challenge .  I spent a lot of time trying to get the frame embossed...the powder did not seem to adhere with heat.  I finally figured my Versamark Pad needed re-inking.   I finally decided to use watercolor paper to better color the panels on the stamped frame.  After stamping images in the blocks, I water colored 4 of the blocks.  I liked the distressed looks of the panels....almost looks like old wood in the 2 darker ones and a sunset in the sentiment panel. Finished with some metal embellishments that are always good for a masculine feel.

Tulips and Stripes Send a Hello

Hello, everyone!  One of the hardest types of challenge for me is the Inspiration Photo. But, I felt compelled to make a card for the one at Just Us Girls challenge this week.  I took a cue from the white and black stripes, the pink tulips, the color yellow, and the metal of the table legs for my elements.

Take Time for a Cup of Coffee

Have a cup of Coffee?   I always begin my day with a cup of coffee. I made this card to enter in several challenges.  I began by using the sketch from Tuesday Morning sketches shown below. I stamped the cup on light tan cs with Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink and cut with Nesties Lacey circle die and then added Glossy Accents to the cup. Using a card base of the same tan cs, I added a layer of MME's Pattern paper from 6X6 pad on the upper part and Kraft CS stamped with words in Memento Espresso Truffle to the lower area. Attached these 2 sections and a Rust Grograin Ribbon to the base.  Added the image with pop up dots. Stamped some coffee beans with Memento Rich Cocoa to the upper corner and added Glossy Accents for texture. Finished with metal tabs from soda cans for some texture and a masculine touch. Stamps are all from Mark's Finest Papers "Oh, Beans" set.

# 1 Dad

 

Father's Day is almost here and there are a lot of challenges for Father's Day Cards.  I made this card using a woodgrain paper that I made using inks on white cardstock following a technique from Stamp TV by Gina K.  The stamp is from Paper Pretties Handy Man and is colored with Copics and Jelli-Ink Metallic pens. I used a tan card base from stash layered with dark gray mats.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black.  Finished with Metal screw brads for a manly look.

A Bunch of Flowers

Happy Easter to all my friends and followers!

 

The challenge  at Joan's Garden is fun this week...we are to

Use some kind of container

Fill it with flowers

Use Yellow, Green and Orange

You must use something sold at Joan's Gardens on your card.

I started by making a basket with strips of textured brown card stock that I have saved forever from making some other baskets.  I started with a base card of textured olive green (stash) and layered with blue  card stock embossed with Cuttlebug Wicker Weave Embossing Folder and the a pattern paper from My Mind's Eye pad. Does that not look like a lace tablecloth over a gold liner??

I then filled my basket with flowers and foliage. I first added a Fanciful Flourish cut with Cheery Lynn die but it got lost under the flowers. My flowers were made with  Cheery Lynn Build a Flower #1 (stamens and leaves) and Build a Flower #2 ( poppy petals and leaves), Stampin' Up 6 petal flower punch, and Martha Stewart leaf punch.  I used various shades of green paper for the leaves, yellow, orange, and  white papers for the flowers.  Green and orange brads were used in center of some of the flowers.  A tag stamped with sentiment from Flourishes "Zinnias" in Memento Cantaloupe ink was added to the bouquet and a "Friends" Metal Brad (Stash) was attached to the baskets with brads....love the texture that adds.  I used the Tool Kit from Joan's for assembling the flowers and some of the many useful tips from Selma for making flowers.  Items used from Joan's are highlighted in orange.

Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge

Welcome to another Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge. This week we are asking you to use metal on your project.  I just love the  stamp set  "I'm In Stitches" recently released by Mark's Finest Paper and Stamps, a Heinrich Co.  The tomato and strawberry pin cushion is so cute and reminds me of the one I have and still use. I gathered up some of my sewing items -pins, needles, threads, spool charm, and thimble charm and combined with some old papers to make this card. One of the Pattern Papers I used is an old pattern design. To assemble the card, I stamped the pin cushion with red ink  and added some green. I cut this out and covered with Matte Accents. Started with Green card base, added polka dot mat edged with pinking shears, and layered with the "Pattern". Stamped the sentiment and tape measure.  Attached the pin cushion with foam dots along with the metal charms to top. I finished with the pins and needles and thread....now all ready to sew.

Some Heavy Metal for Flourishes

Are you ready to rock? Flourishes is kicking off their new release with some heavy metal.  Their Release Week Challenge is all about the shine and glitz that metallic can bring during the holidays. So play along and show some silver, gold, copper, or bronze on your creation!  Just that simple — use a little metal on your card and you’re in the running. I selected to use gold on my entry. I stamped the Flourishes stamp "Rejoice" with versamark and embossed with Gold EP. Added some red and green jewel highlights to the design with glaze pens. I rounded the corners with a punch and added Gold Metal brads to the corners. I attached the image to Gold Metallic CS base and finished with ribbon and a bow with Gold Metallic thread.

Card with Some Heavy Metal!

There were several elements that I wanted to use in this card:   Metal, Recycled item, Gina K stamp, Basic Grey paper, Ribbon, Happy Birthday sentiment, and something for a man. I think that I have included them all.
I used GKD stamp from " Life is Good" by Theresa Momber for a manly card, Basic Grey Oliver paper, tabs from soda cans for the metal and recycled item, and red ribbon. I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on GKD Ivory CS and colored with Copics G21,28,Bv 25, 72, E49, C1 trying to pick up colors in the striped paper and cut with a Nesties die. Sponged the sky with Memento Summer Sky ink. Stamped a sentiment from Mark's Finest Papers "African Veldt" set using black ink.Used GKD Smokey Slate as the card base and a mat of stripe DP from Basic Grey Oliver.  I threaded the soda can tabs on red ribbon and attached with scor-tape.
