The Library Challenge

Welcome!  One of the most fun challenges that I played with lately is The Library Challenge.

Each challenge will feature a book and you can be inspired by the cover, the title, or the story. The recent Challenge #17 is the book The Woman in the Window.   I was inspired by the colors and brick on the cover of the paperback edition as well as the title using a woman sitting in a window on my card.  As I have read this book and enjoyed the suspense of this thriller,  I did not want to reveal any of the story of the book in case you have not read the book.   But I did include a couple of elements that play in the book, specifically a camera-with a "zoom" lens and a glass of merlot, both shown on the window ledge.  On my card, I featured a woman reading a book in the window but in the book she would more likely be watching an old movie or "spying" out the window.  Read the book and find all about the "woman in the window".  It's a really good suspense story. 

Supplies used: Clear Stamps from Little Claire Designs (Room With a View and Birdcage sets), Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Copics, Clear Vellum(for the window and handmade wine glass), White CS, Yellow CS, Distress Oxide ink Faded Blue, Camera Metal Brad, Sentiment from Jane's Doodles, Scor-pal for scoring brick wall.  The window was stamped on Clear Vellum with black ink and heat embossed with Clear EP.  I layered it between the Brick Wall and the layer with the image. 

My photos show the card with the window closed for the envelope and also opened.

Decorate the Door for Christmas

Hello!  The challenge at Merry Monday is "How to Decorate your door."  Since my door is red, I decided to make  a red door and decorate it with a wreath made with Flourishes stamps.  I created the door with red CS, cut a window and filled with acetate, added some hinges, a brass kickplate, doorknob, and a letter drop all made with Metallic Gold CS and dies. I had first planned only to add the wreath to the inside behind the "window" but decided to place another wreath  on the front of the door. I stamped the wreath twice - once on white CS and once on Clear Vellum - with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Gold EP.  I colored the details on both with markers.   I fussy cut the one on Vellum and hung on the front of the door backed with a ring off metallic Gold CS.  You can see that on the opened door shown below.  I attached the other wreath to the inside of the card lining it up directly below the wreath on top.  I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment also.  I have room inside to add more messages when I use the card.  More photos of card shown below.

Vellum and Embossing

 

Hello!  I was playing with Vellum, Metallic Gold CS, and Heat Embossing when I made this card.   I used a stamp from Gina K Designs A Year of Flowers that I stamped twice with Versamark on Red Vellum and heat embossed with Ranger Gold EP.  I fussy cut one and trimmed the other for use as a panel placed between the front panels of the  Gold Metallic Card Base.  I adhered the fussy cut  Poinsettia with Vellum  tape.  The sentiment from Annabelle Stamps was embossed with Red EP.
