Birthday with Roses

Welcome to my studio!  My CAS card today features embossing that I did with a Spellbinders die from Devine Eleoquence  on a panel of white card stock. This created a frame for the stamp from GKD Tropical Blooms set that is dated 2018. I stamped the roses with Memento Black Ink and colored with Copics and Pencils. The words from the set stamp set were inked with Memento Bamboo Leaves. Finished with Green card base.

Retro Rubber Challenge: #143 Color Me -use only yellow and green on your card and use stamps one year or older. Stamps are 3 years old. 

Cas Mix Up Challenge: September Embossing with Dies. Also used stamping and alcohol markers.

I finally bit the bullet and gave in to using the new Blogger.

Luckily I had no trouble and it was not to figure out.

Guest Designer for Retro Rubber Challenge #138

Hello! Welcome to my studio. I have not spent much time here for the last few weeks but I am back now to post as a guest designer for one of my favorite card challenges   Retro Rubber.  This great challenge gives me  an opportunity to use some of my oldie but goodie stamps. 

The theme for the challenge is Anything Goes and you must use stamps older than a year.  For my card I have reached back in time to 2011 to use a stamp set from Flourishes ( no longer around) designed by  Marcella Hawley.  The Zinnia set is one of my favorites and I have used it many times.  I stamped the Zinnias on white card stock with Memento Toffee Crunch ink and colored with Copics using my favorite color combo of pink and green.  I added some highlights and accents with colored pencils and a gold gelly roll metallic pen. I stamped the sentiment from the same set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I trimmed the image with a Spellbinder scalloped oval die and placed on a background of patterned paper from DCWV Hello Darlin' stack. I attached this to a Pink card base.  I finished with some Dewdrops that I have had in my stash for many years.

Thinking of Everyone

Hello!  It's been a few days since I have posted but I have this Thinking of you Card to share today.   I thought I had posted this but could not find it, so I am using  it to say that I have been thinking of everyone out there in blog land and hope you are staying healthy and safe. I created this card by heat embossing GKD stamps from Tropical Blooms with Gold EP on Black CS and coloring with Pencils.  Also used a splatter stamp with the Gold EP.  I inked the edge of the image layer with Pilot Gold Metallic marker and attached to a card base of Black CS.

  I have not been posting lately but I have been busy in my studio creating a great many cards.  I put together a package of over 80 cards that I sent to the Life Care Center in Tennessee where my Mother is a resident. This included many Hello, Thinking of You, and other assorted themes to cheer up the residents who have been unable to have company.
I assembled the package by pulling cards from my stash some of which I modified and changed to fit the need.  I failed to make a picture of those cards that I sent but many were cards that I have posted on this blog. I also used a lot of those bits and pieces that I had accumulated in my leftover box of never used die cuts, stamped images, colored digis, etc to create several quick cards that I enclosed with the already made ones.  I also included some Thank You Cards to the staff.
Sending cards is a great way to keep busy and let others know that you care.  I see a lot of card makers doing that very thing.
I am now working on a box of Easter Cards to send to the same place and almost have the number that I need.  More about that later and I will have pictures.

Butterflies Fly Again

Hello! Sometimes I am immediately inspired by a challenge and know at once what I am going to create but other times, it takes awhile to come up with an idea.  I knew at once what I was going to use for the Just Us Girls Photo Inspiration shown below.   It might not be acceptable but I knew that I wanted to recycle some butterflies that were on a card that I had received some time ago.  I carefully removed two  die cut butterflies that were already enhanced with glitter and gemstones and set aside while I created a card for them.  I printed a digital image of orchids (inspired by the JUGS challenge graphic) that I had from Beccy's Place on Ivory Cardstock and colored with Copics and Pencils and stamped a birthday sentiment from Gina K Designs. I attached the image on a card base of the same Ivory CS and adhered the saved butterflies. I drew on the antennas with a black marker.  I am pleased with the results and happy to have found a use for the beautiful butterflies.

Five Gold Rings

Hello!  Continuing with my series of The Twelve Days of Christmas cards.  These cards are made with a set called "Twelve Days of Christmas" from Creative Stamping magazine that I got last Christmas.  I have 2 cards made for the fifth day....five gold rings.  For the top card, I stamped the tree image on Green CS with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with Gold EP.  I colored in the flowers and hearts with Pencils and the star with Gold Metallic pen. Added Diamond Stickles to the 5 rings. Fussy cut the tree and attached to a Red Card Base.  Heat embossed the sentiments with Gold EP.
The second card uses the same stamps and heat embossing with Gold EP but I did on a Textured Green CS. Colored the Hearts with Copics. Also used the Diamond Stickles on the rings and also on the star.  I colored in and outlined the tree with a Clearstar pen. Attached the Green Panel to a Dark Red Card Base.

Winter Snow Globe

Hello!  I was not sure where I was going with this card but wanted to use a Repeat Impressions Snow Globe stamp for the challenge at The House That Stamps Built.  I used the Lighthouse Snowglobe stamp but modified it by eliminating Santa and his sleigh.  I first stamped the globe on Vellum and heat embossed with Clear EP.  I stamped it again with Black ink on white CS and a second time with Memento Nautical Blue( coloring over Santa).  I colored in the image stamped in Black ink with Pencils. I trimmed both of these images and layered under the image on Vellum.  I die cut a circle opening on the Yellow Card base and added the layered snow globe underneath.  I stamped the base of the globe on a Wood Grain Patterned Paper with Versamark and heat embossed with Brown EP.  I fussy cut the base and attached on the card front below the Winter Scene in the globe. Stamped a sentiment from my stash with DOI Walnut Stain and added some die cut vellum snowflakes.   

I could have used acrylic instead of vellum and just stamped and layered the stamped scene under that, but the heat embossed vellum gives a nice texture in real life.

Harvest of Pumpkins

Welcome to my studio!  I was inspired to create this card by the Photo Challenge Week #459 at Just Us Girls.  I loved the fall trees, colors and the old truck in the photo.  I knew I had an old truck stamp but it took me a while to find it.  I had created the fall scene before I remembered where it was so I had to invent a way of including the truck.  But back to the beginning, I stamped a Repeat Impression stamp Covered Bridge with Memento Rich Cocoa ink on heavyweight white card stock and colored with an number of Distress Oxide Inks....actually used a dozen of them but too lazy to list.  Also used some pencils in some areas.  I might should have used watercolor paper but I was happy with the results on this paper. By the time I finished this scene, I found the old truck stamp in  my Mark's Finest Paper stamps.  I stamped it in the same ink and colored with Distress Oxide Inks and some pencils.  I drew some pumpkins in the back of the red truck and added a driver into the cab. I fussy cut the truck and attached it with foam tape as if he is driving down the dirt road and off the edge of the scene.  To finish, I added an orange mat and a textured rust color card base.  Stamped a Power Poppy sentiment Happy Harvest since there was an abundant harvest of pumpkins in the truck.
Had fun combing the stamps to create this scene.

Dragonflies a Flutter

Hello! Are you having a Buggy summer?  Made this buggy card for Double D Challenge "Don't Bug Me!".  They really want to see bugs on our cards.   I chose to use Dragonflies since I have this great Kathy Davis Pattern Paper and  used it with Creative Dies Dragonfly stamp and die set.  I stamped the Dragonfly 3 times on a panel of White CS with Memento Paris Dusk Ink (trimmed and fussy cut the extended wings and inked edges)  and placed Dragonflies die cuts from Vellum over the stamped images. I colored the Vellum ones with Pencils to match the colors in the Pattern Paper used as the background on a White card base.  Assembled the card and added a sentiment and sequins to finish.  Fun card! Fun challenge!

1 Lily Stamp, 2 Cards,2 Techniques

Welcome to my studio.  I received some new stamps from Gina K that I purchased with a prize GC from Modsquad Challenge and was anxious to use.    I did the bottom card first by stamping the Lily stamp from Thank You Friend set with Versamark on White CS and then embossed with White EP.  I water colored the image with Distress Oxide inks using a water brush.  I think inks used were Fossilized Amber, Wild Honey, Peeled Paint, and Peacock Feathers.   Added some highlights with colored pencils. Finished with sentiment from the same set.  Inked the edge of the panel with Peeled Paint pad and adhered to a Blue card base.  I have seen several water colors done with heat embossed images and had to give it a try.

The top card was made with the same Lily stamp but I stamped this one with Memento Toffee Crunch ink and colored with Copics.  Also added some touches with Colored Pencils.  Trimmed the image and placed on a mat of Grass Green CS. Stamped a sentiment from Gina K set Inspiring Poppies, cut with die and placed on a green mat.   For the card base, I used Grass Green and made the background with White CS stamped with Gina K background stamp Petite Flourish with Memento Bamboo Leaves. I assembled the card popping up the image with foam tape and also popped up the sentiment on top of the image.

CAS Prayers

Hello!   I am challenging myself to make cards using up some of the un-used items collecting on my worktable....for example items that I die cut, stamped, or colored and never made into a finished card, etc.  On this card, I used an image  that I stamped on Kraft CS with Versamark and embossed with gold EP and then colored with pencils.  I set it aside in my unfinished box to complete later.  That was several weeks, months ago.  The Chinese Lantern image was from Power Poppy Sunny Harvest set.  
Today, I pulled out the forgotten panel and added an Sentiment from Power Poppy Peony Muse set....stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with Gold EP... to make a sympathy card.  I highlighted  the sentiment with a red pencil. I placed this on a Red CS mat and a Gold Metallic card base.  I thought it ended up as a elegant card and was perfect to let someone know that I cared.

Rainbows and Butterflies

Welcome!  I am playing with Butterflies and Rainbow Colors using a sketch from Retro Rubber Challenge #91 to create a CAS card.  I began by inking the Butterfly stamp from GKD A Year Of Borders set.  I used Memento Markers to ink the butterflies in the colors of the Rainbow and stamped on White CS and colored in the images with Colored Pencils.  I stamped the older Sentiment from Papers and Such with Memento red ink.  Finished with strips of blue cut with Martha Stewart Scallop Dot Punch and a card base of the same blue. 

I can trace the Gina K Stamp back to 2011 and The Paper and Such sentiment  to 2015 but they may be even older.

Bleach Technique

Hello!  This card was made from the July Release Party Challenge at Gina K Designs on Stamp TV.  We were challenged to make a card using the Bleach Technique shown by Gina K.   I stamped the image and a sentiment from GKD You Make Me Smile stamps with Versamark on Red Velvet CS  and heat embossed with Black EP.  I brushed the bleach on the image removing some of the color.  I added some color to the leaves with a green pencil but left the petals just as they were after bleaching.  Finished with a black mat and white card base.

Bicycle in the Garden

Welcome to my studio!  I was inspired by the photo inspiration from Just Add Ink challenge #415.  The bicycle reminded me of a bicycle stamp in my stash from Papers and Such and I just had to use it.  I stamped the image in versamark on Vellum and heat embossed with White EP.  I colored the bike with Pencils....the first time that I colored on vellum in this manner and I liked the results. I fussy cut the bike and adhered with vellum tape to the garden background that I created with paper from Our Daily Bread Shabby Rose collection and a garden fence that I cut from Glossy White CS with Our Daily Bread Gilded Gate dies.  Finished with die cut Happy Birthday and Butterfly from shimmery Pink CS cut with Cheery Lynn dies.   I was pleased with the finished results....love that you can see the fence through the spokes of the bike...and the flowers through the fence. 

 Just Add Ink: #415-Oops! Missed the deadline but I still like the card.

Trio of Cards

 Hello!  Today I have 3 cards to share that I made using the same Gina K stamp set called You Make Me Smile but used different techniques for each card.  The top card was stamped on GKD Moonlit Fog CS with GKD new Amalgam Ink that works perfectly with Copic Markers, Watercolors and Colored Pencils,  I used Pencils to color the image and simply attached to a darker gray card base. 

For the second card, I stamped with the same Amalgam ink on White CS but colored the image with Copics which I favor when coloring flowers. 

I decided to use watercolor paper and Distress Oxide inks for the third card.   I stamped and water colored the image with Picked  Raspberry and Peeled Paint inks using a water brush. 

I had fun playing with new ink and stamps from Gina K that were a birthday gift from my DH.

Fall Fun

Hello! Another rainy day...good for playing in my studio.  My card today was made with GKD's Always Autumn stamp set and I did some creative cropping with the pumpkin and sunflower stamps both going off the side.  I inked the pumpkins with Memento Tangelo and the flower with Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide and colored with Copics and Pencils.  The sentiment was stamped with Walnut Stain DOI. Distressed the edges of the white CS with Fossilized Amber and adhered to GKD pattern paper from Sun Kissed Autumn pad. Finished with a metal embellishment from October Hero Arts kit.

The House That Stamps Built: Challenge O1117 Tic-Tac-Toe. Used pumpkins, patterned paper, and metallic.  I usually use Repeat Impressions stamps for this challenge but this card as a perfect match for Vertical Row 1.

Ship In A Bottle

Hello!  I found this At The Vineyard Paper House pattern paper with wine corks in my stash and thought it would be perfect with my stamping of a Ship in a Bottle on Vellum Paper that I did with Repeat Impressions Wine Time set.  I did the stamping with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then heat embossed with Clear EP.  I did a bit of coloring on the ship with White, Blue, and Tan Pencils on the backside of the Vellum.  I cut a rectangle from the Pattern Paper, attached the image on vellum behind the opening and then replaced the rectangle behind the image to create a frame around the bottle. I used a Dark Brown CS for the base.  For fun, I stamped the larger Cork Stamp on cork and trimmed and then attached to the card.  I like the masculine look of this card.  I first stamped this design on white CS but the vellum show the bottle so much better.

One Layer CAS

 Hello!  Today I have a one-layer card made with GKD Stamps from A Year of Flowers 2 and Stippled Nature (sentiment).   I stamped the rose with Memento Love Letter ink, the leaf with Memento Cottage Ivy ink , and the sentiment with Tuxedo Black ink on white card stock and colored with pencils.  For texture I added an embossed border with Anna Griffin EF.
