Playing With Acrylic Paints

 Hello! Hope your Monday is off to a good start.  Mine started with computer problems but I finally got Windows 10 to open.  I was playing with acrylic paints this week - the challenge at CAS Mix Up Card Challenge is to use Acrylic Paints.  I bought some acrylic paints years ago really cheap but never used them.  So I pulled them out after watching the video tutorials links on the challenge blog.
I made a background using white cardstock and 3 colors-green umber, orange, and marigold.  I die cut a circle with Lawn Fawn Stitched Circle die and heat embossed a sentiment stamp on the circle with Versamark ink and Wow Chestnut EP. I attached this to a dark brown card base embossed with Spellbinders EF.  I thought the background looked like an artsy looking sunrise.

For my second attempt at creating a background with acrylic paints, I used blue midnight, marigold and orange.  My results looked like a scene on the Serengeti so I heat embossed some Gina K Design stamps from Wild About You set to create a birthday card.  I tore the edges of the image and distressed the edges with a distress tool.  This would not be considered a CAS card but I like how it turned out.

Hello with Bubbles

Hello!  I am playing with another technique that I have never tried - using bubble wrap with ink.  I have a ton of bubble wrap since I never seem to throw it away and seldom use it.  I took a section of the bubble wrap and inked it up with Distress Oxide Ink Picked Raspberry  and pressed it on to a white card stock panel to create a background.  Trimmed this and attached to a White Card Base. I then reinked the bubble wrap and inked and stamped a Repeat Impressions stamp Hello on to white card stock.  I liked the textured look that this achieved and this bold stamp was perfect to use  with the bubble wrap.  Attached the word to Vellum and popped up on the card with foam.

Red and Gold for Christmas

Hello!  I am back with another Christmas card in July that was inspired by the sketch from the current challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  First I created a background for the card by stamping and heat embossing a Music Background stamp from Gina K Designs on Red Card stock with Gold EP. For the top of the card I stamped and gold embossed a GKD sentiment on a small panel of the same CS. I layered this sentiment on a Gold Metallic panel die cut with a Spellbinders Scalloped Rectangle die.  I assembled the card with a  Gold Metallic card base, a layer of Red CS, the embossed music background, strips of red velvet ribbon edged with gold, and finally the sentiment. I always love the dramatic look of red and gold.

The Library Challenge

Welcome!  One of the most fun challenges that I played with lately is The Library Challenge.

Each challenge will feature a book and you can be inspired by the cover, the title, or the story. The recent Challenge #17 is the book The Woman in the Window.   I was inspired by the colors and brick on the cover of the paperback edition as well as the title using a woman sitting in a window on my card.  As I have read this book and enjoyed the suspense of this thriller,  I did not want to reveal any of the story of the book in case you have not read the book.   But I did include a couple of elements that play in the book, specifically a camera-with a "zoom" lens and a glass of merlot, both shown on the window ledge.  On my card, I featured a woman reading a book in the window but in the book she would more likely be watching an old movie or "spying" out the window.  Read the book and find all about the "woman in the window".  It's a really good suspense story. 

Supplies used: Clear Stamps from Little Claire Designs (Room With a View and Birdcage sets), Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Copics, Clear Vellum(for the window and handmade wine glass), White CS, Yellow CS, Distress Oxide ink Faded Blue, Camera Metal Brad, Sentiment from Jane's Doodles, Scor-pal for scoring brick wall.  The window was stamped on Clear Vellum with black ink and heat embossed with Clear EP.  I layered it between the Brick Wall and the layer with the image. 

My photos show the card with the window closed for the envelope and also opened.

Seashell Background

Hello!  I am back with another nautical theme card using a sketch from the challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches. I made the background for the card using Spellbinders Impressabilities Sea Scape as a stencil using Distress Oxide ink on White CS Panel. The seashells pattern was inspired by the Mood Board from Double D Nautical Challenge. I used a textured blue CS as the card base and a rectangle  of the same CS to mat the Sentiment stamped in DOI Faded Jean on a die cut oval of white CS.  To keep in the nautical theme, for an embellishment, I added a Lighthouse button with "white rope".

Splash Watercoloring

Welcome! Playing with splashes and water coloring to create a CAS card.  I made my splash background with Distress Oxide Inks Cracked Pistachio and Lucky Clover on Water Color paper and added a pot of Cactus.  The cactus stamp from Power Poppy Simply Succulents was heat embossed with Zing Chestnut EP on Water Color paper and water colored with DOI Lucky Clover, Salty Ocean. and Vintage Photo.  I was inspired by the colors in the Fusion Challenge.  Fussy cut the Cactus and adhered to the background placed on Green CS and stamped with a sentiment from the same stamp set with Lucky Clover.

Fall Leaves

Welcome!  Fall may be a few weeks away but I made this fall card for a challenge at Stamp TV using GKD leaf stamps from Signs of Autumn and a sentiment from A Year of Leaves.  I made the background layer with Distress Oxide inks Peeled Paint, Fossilized Amber, and Spiced Marmalade with White CS.  I stamped leaves with Walnut Stain and spritzed with Gold Shimmer Mist.  Attached to a GKD Brown CS and added sentiment stamped with Walnut Stain ink on white CS and sponged with Fossilized Amber.  Added Leaf Ribbon with gold metallic edge from stash to finish.
Challenge:
Stamp TV: Mix It Up Monday challenge-Leaf Me Alone-focus on some of the sometimes overlooked leaf stamps in a collection. The 2 leaves used are from an old set including florals and other items.
Time Out Challenges: Theme is Autumn. Opted out on the speed challenge.
