By the Sea

Hello! I came across an old lighthouse stamp in my studio and decided to create a quick card for the Clean and Simple Challenge PP605 at The Paper Players with a Nautical Theme. I stamped a portion of the stamp on white CS with Memento Black Ink and colored with Copics. I trimmed the image with a rectangle die and attached to patterned paper scrap from Graphic 45. Stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set.  For the card base, I added waves to white CS with a Fiskars Texture plate (have not used this in years since I started using embossing folders) and inked raised surfaces with Blue Ink.

By The Sea

Hello! Welcome to my studio.  I decided to make a card with another Lighthouse stamp from my stash. This one is from Just for Fun, and I have had since 2010.  An Oldie but a Goodie.  I colored the image with Copics and a Blue inkpad for the sky. I trimmed the image with a stitched die by GKD and attached to a patterned paper scrap from Graphic 45 By the Sea pad. I attached this to a Navy card base that I embossed with a Cuttlebug Border EF and finished with another scrap from the same paper pad.

Let Your Light Shine

Welcome! Today I am sharing a card that I created with an older lighthouse stamp from Art Impressions.  Most times when I have used a lighthouse stamp, I do not show any light beams. But for this design, I darkened the sky and added light beams. I thought this added more interest to the design. I stamped the image with Memento Black ink and colored with copics and also did ink blending with ink pads for the sky and sea. Added some white accents to waves and beam with White Gel Pen. I found an appropriate sentiment from my stash which is from a Hero Arts kit and stamped with the black ink. I trimmed the image and mats with GKD Dies and attached to a white card base. A fun card to make.

Birthday Lighthouse

Playing with some challenges using a 2011 Lighthouse stamp from Art Impressions with 2 colors of ink Memento Paris Dusk and Dandelion.  Stamped the image on white CS with the Paris Dusk and added the rays with Dandelion ink and My Favorite Things Radiating Rays stencil.  Used a mask to cover the image before stenciling the rays.

Winter Snow Globe

Hello!  I was not sure where I was going with this card but wanted to use a Repeat Impressions Snow Globe stamp for the challenge at The House That Stamps Built.  I used the Lighthouse Snowglobe stamp but modified it by eliminating Santa and his sleigh.  I first stamped the globe on Vellum and heat embossed with Clear EP.  I stamped it again with Black ink on white CS and a second time with Memento Nautical Blue( coloring over Santa).  I colored in the image stamped in Black ink with Pencils. I trimmed both of these images and layered under the image on Vellum.  I die cut a circle opening on the Yellow Card base and added the layered snow globe underneath.  I stamped the base of the globe on a Wood Grain Patterned Paper with Versamark and heat embossed with Brown EP.  I fussy cut the base and attached on the card front below the Winter Scene in the globe. Stamped a sentiment from my stash with DOI Walnut Stain and added some die cut vellum snowflakes.   

I could have used acrylic instead of vellum and just stamped and layered the stamped scene under that, but the heat embossed vellum gives a nice texture in real life.

Another Lighthouse

Hello! Sharing another Lighthouse card. This one features a stamp from Art Impressions that I stamped twice  with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics.  I sponged the sky with Memento Summer Sky and the grass with Bamboo Leaves and added some "M" birds with a black marker.  Also embossed some clouds.  I fussy cut one of the lighthouses and popped it up with foam tape. I trimmed the image with a Spellbinders die and placed on a background of Blue Patterned Paper from Kaisercraft that I embossed with Swiss Dots EF.  Finished with a White card base and a sentiment from Repeat Impressions. Also inspired by sketch shown below.

Lighthouse Scene

Hello!  Today's card was made for the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge at The House That Stamps Built.  I
chose to Use Dimension, Lighthouse, and Sponging-the top row of choices.  I stamped a portion of Repeat Impressions large stamp  Bass Harbor Light  on white CS and colored with Copics and sponged the sky with Memento Summer Sky ink.  I trimmed the image with a rectangle die and matted with a red CS die cut.  I embossed a white panel with Happy Birthday EF that I attached to a white card base and added the image that I raised with a foam panel for dimension.

Sunset at the Lighthouse

 

Hello!  I am back after being away from Blogland for about a month.  I have returned to post a card for the WHAT IF? Wednesday photo challenge A1716. (shown on right) I used Repeat Impressions stamp for the scene on my card.  I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Using masking techniques, I sponged and blended the sky, sea and sun with Memento Cantaloupe, Tangelo, Elderberry, Nautical Blue, and Paris Dusk inks.  The scene was colored with pencils.  I cut the image with Spellbinders die and matted with Orange CS and placed on a background of glittered paper from DCWV Tahiti mat stack and a card base of Turquoise CS.

Another Lighthouse

Hello!  I have not seen many lighthouses in person but I enjoy the different shapes and designs.   I came across this Just For Fun Stamp when I was looking for a Lighthouse stamp and thought I'd use it for another card with this theme.  I won this stamp in 2010...nice to have a post on my blog to remind me of the date.   I tried to color in a way to make the bricks appear to be old.  Used some pattern paper from Graphic 45 pad, yellow CS for base, some red eyelets from stash. Cannot remember the last time I used eyelets on a card. The GKD Sentiment was heat embossed with red EP on clear vellum and cut with label die.  I also used a Spellbinder die for the image.

Trip to a Lighthouse

Where are you spending the summer?  Wouldn't a trip to a lighthouse and the ocean be a fun time?   I pulled out this Art Impression stamp to create this card for several challenges. I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics and sponged the sky with Memento Summer Sky ink.  The sky was embossed with Darice EF Clouds before sponging. I backed the image with Graphic 45 Gingham pattern from By the Sea pad. Attached this to a Blue Card Base.  Added some star brads from my stash and a sentiment from GKD Gifts of the Sea set.

Stormy Weather

Hello! Today I bring you a card with some stormy weather that I made for Craft a Scene Challenge and used a sketch from Sweet Sunday Challenge.  To begin, I searched for a picture online showing a stormy sky over the sea to have an idea how to create the look. I used a stamp from Art Impressions that I happened to win from Craft a Scene for the August challenge. I stamped the Lighthouse Scene with black ink on white CS and created the sky with Copics, sponging with inks, and coloring  with pencils until I got the stormy look that I wanted.  The lighthouse and shore were colored with Copics and some glow was given to the lantern room with a Clear Star Pen. Then I added some birds flying into the shore for safety.
