Summer Geraniums

Welcome to my studio! I hope you are enjoying the summer weather.  Summer always brings geraniums in the garden and that is what inspired this card-Geraniums!  I stamped the image using GKD Petite Geranium stamp with Black ink and colored with Copics. I added a sentiment from Power Poppy which is appropriate for this card that I will be sending to my mother.  Used GKD Dies to cut the image and black mat which I attached to a white card base.

Sweet Treats for My Love

Welcome!  I was not going to make another Valentine Theme card but when I started playing with the sketch from Tuesday Morning Challenge, I ended up making another one.  I embossed a mat of Pink CS with Cuttlebug Victoria EF to begin my design. I stamped a Power Poppy image with Memento Black ink on White CS and colored with Copics and added some icing to the sweet treats using Pink Stickles. That really sweeten up the treats. I trimmed the image following the sketch and added a layer of Polka Dot Patterned Paper to create a frame of dots. I also embossed this layer another Cuttlebug EF. Stamped a Gina K stamp on scrap of Pink CS and die cut with Spellbinders Label die. Assembled the elements on a White Card Base and added a couple Shiny Red Nail Heads for some bling.

Sunflowers Brighten the Day

I have so many favorite flowers and one of them is beautiful Sunflowers... big glorious colorful ones. I am not sure if they are considered summer or fall but they are great for transitioning into the fall season.  I created this card using 2 digital images from Power Poppy Sunflower Power set that I arranged and printed on white card stock. I added a frame so that the image was in and out of the frame.....did with a Black Pen and a straight edge.  (I tried to add the frame using Photoshop Elements the way that Julie did for her challenge but I gave up and took an easy way.) I colored the image with Copics.  I stamped a sentiment from Power Poppy Peony Muse set with Versamark and first heat embossed with Chestnut EP. Then I did a second embossing with Gold Metallic EP because I did not have enough contrast between the frame and the words.  I like the results and also glad that I stamped the sentiment so that it was also in and out of the frame. Finished with a card base of GKD  Faded Brick CS. My DH said this card was "strong".

Flowers for You

Hello!  I have been playing with another challenge from Creative Confetti Challenge-Sketch It Out! Using the sketch shown below I  created a card with a zinnia stamp from Power Poppy Vibrant Thanks set.  The zinnia was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white card stock and colored with Copics. I sponged the background with a DOI. I cut the image with an oval die and attached to a scallop oval of Green CS.  I used a background of patterned paper from Blank Canvas pad by First Edition that I inked with a Copic marker. The floral paper inspired the colors that I used for coloring the flowers. A sentiment was heat embossed on a strip of green vellum and added to the card. I used a card base of textured mint cardstock and added some dewdrops for embellishments.

All in This Together

Welcome to my studio!  I have 2 cards to share today made with the same digital stamp Tulips In a Hobnail Pitcher from Power Poppy.  I was inspired by the Vase shown in the challenge at The Card Concept which has a patterned design. I did something that I never did before and that was to "paper piece" a digital image since I wanted to have a patterned vase on my card.  Through the magic of Photoshop  Elements, I was able to use digital paper and fill in a section of a digital image before printing the image.  The digital paper was actually a file I made by scanning patterned paper from Shabby Rose Collection by Our Daily Bread and I used a section of that paper to piece in to the vase of the digital image.  I included a close up of the vase below. Now that I figured this out, I can use any digital paper to fill in a portion of a digital image... this is easier than printing an image on patterned paper and then fussy cutting to attach to a printed image to do piecing. 

I printed the paper pieced image twice on heavyweight white card stock to make the 2 cards.

For the top card, I colored the image with Copics and trimmed the edges with a corner punch. With Memento Gray Ink, I stamped an appropriate sentiment  for the time we are living in........ found this in Power Poppy's  Sassy Succulents set.     Completed the card with a Gray Woodgrain card base (also inspired by the challenge photo) that I made with a Woodgrain Embossing Folder, Scor-Pal, Gray CS, and white ink. 

For the second card, I added some blues flowers to the printed image using a Hero Arts stamp, blue ink, and masking.  I used different Copics to color the image but used the same sentiment.  Finished with a Blue card base.  I am not sure which version that I like best but I do like the addition of the blue flowers. 

I really like how well the pattern on the vase turned out. I even surprised myself a bit accomplishing that.  A close up view of the vase:

A Girl in the Garden

Hello! Today I have a card for the current challenge #57  at The Library.  The book for this challenge is A Child's Garden of Verses shown below.  I was inspired by the cover layout and colors as well as the picture of the girl.  I treated the cover as if it were a sketch challenge for a card.  I printed out a digital image of a Flower Girl by Inger Harding from my files that I saved in 2010. I colored the image with Copics  and added some glitter gems to the flowers. Cut the image with an oval die and framed with a Yellow frame die cut with Cheery Lynn Swedish Spring Oval die. Finished with a sentiment from Power Poppy stamps die cut with circle dies. Used a  Blue card base. 

Challenges:

As You Like It Challenge: Animals or People-which is your favorite and why?  I like to create cards with people although they are a challenge to color and I like to be challenged. But of course my favorite theme is flowers so I chose to use this flower girl.

Bird in the Berries

Hello! This card was made using the Bird and Berries image from the Power Poppy Summer Berries set.  I stamped the image on a white cs panel with black Memento ink and colored with Copic Markers.  To add interest to the design I embossed a frame with layered dies using a rubber mat.  I used a corner punch to round the edges and then attached to a Green card base.  I tried to make the bird a Goldfinch but I think I colored too much black on his head... maybe I should call him a warbler. I may or nay not add a sentiment to the front when I use this card.

Lovely Camellias

Hello!  This card was created with Power Poppy Simply Camellias stamp set.  I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white CS and water colored with Fired Brick and Peeled Paint Distress Oxide inks and a water brush. I usually use watercolor paper but did not plan to water color this image but changed my mind.  Using masking and a Tattered Lace die from Twilight Labels,  I sponged around the image before I framed it with Green card stock cut with the same Tattered Lace die.  Added some dew drops to finish. Will add a sentiment or not when I use the card.

A Gift of a Rose

Hello!  Today I am sharing a card that I made with a free digital image of a Rose that I recently downloaded from Power Poppy.  I printed the image on a GKD Heavyweight ivory cardstock and colored with Copics.  I trimmed the image with a Spellbinders die and attached to a card base of ivory that measures 3.5" by 5".  I chose that size because I have some ivory envelopes that will fit that size.  I had planned to make this a one layer notecard but the Copics bled through....hoping it would not bleed...guess only the Heavyweight white cardstock from GKD does not bleed. Finished with a Power Poppy stamp in Memento Tuxedo black.  This is a good size for a gift or simple notecard.

Stocking Tags

Hello!  I made the tags above using Power Poppy Stocking stamp from the Poinsettia set.  I stamped the stocking on white CS and colored with Copics.  Since I wanted more than one tag, I copied the image after I colored it and printed it so my tags all look the same.  I trimmed the tags with a Spellbinders die and attached to die cut mats from Green CS.  Punched holes and added red satin ribbon.  Hope I did not break any rules by making copies of my design since I am using for my personal need.

Sending Thanks with a Bouquet

Welcome to my studio!  One of my favorite fall flowers is Sunflowers and I love to color them.  I used the Sunflower digital image from Power Poppy to create a bouquet of Sunflowers and  printed in a sepia color on watercolor paper. I colored the image with a water brush using Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber, Peeled Paint, Walnut Stain, and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide inks. Stamped the sentiment from Power Poppy Vibrant Thanks set with Walnut Stain ink.  Decided to keep the design clean and simple. Recycled a paper from an envelope (Hallmark card) for the background....was the perfect color and has a slight texture. Finished with a card base of GKD Chocolate Brown CS.  Love this without any added embellishments.

CAS Challenges

Hello!  I combined two CAS challenges and came up with this card.  I used 2 Darice embossing folders (Floral Frenzy and Large Daisy) and 4 circle dies.  I embossed the large daisy on one of the circles and inked the raised surfaces with DOI Picked Raspberry.  I stamped a sentiment from Power Poppy on the larger circle with the same ink.  Cut 2 circles from Pink scraps and embossed a strip of Purple CS with flowers. Assembled all the elements on white layer and purple card base following the sketch below.  This is about as clean and simple as it gets!

Picked This Daisy For You

I am still playing with Daisy stamps....forgot I had so many daisy stamps.  So I am inking up this neglected stamp from Morning Star Stamps ( bought at a stamp convention some years ago).  I stamped with GKD amalgam black ink on White CS and colored lightly with Copic Green, Yellow,  and Gray markers. Added some highlights with White Pencil.  Stamped the Power Poppy sentiment over the image with black ink. Finished with GKD Yellow CS for the base. 

Remember playing with daises?........he loves me, he loves me not, he loves me....

Daisies Brighten the Day

Hello! Today I am playing with a CAS design created with the Watercolor Daisy stamp by Hampton Art which is a sketchy, abstract style. (One of my older stamps on a woodblock.)   I stamped the single image on a white Card Stock  with black ink and colored very minimally with Copics.  The Power Poppy sentiment was stamped with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink.  Used a GKD Green CS for the base. I love the simplicity of this stamp and find it perfect for a CAS card. And Daisies are the friendliest of flowers.

Smiling with Pansies

Hello!  Could not resist using another Pansy stamp to create this card for the Retro Rubber challenge to use Purple, Yellow, and Green.  Pansies are such happy flowers and make me smile. This 2010 stamp is from Flourishes Calendar Set 1 by Marcella Hawley and has been much used but not lately.  I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white CS and colored with Copics (first time to use with these markers). I trimmed with a Spellbinders Oval die and placed on a yellow mat cut with SB scallop oval.  I framed this with Purple CS die cut with SB Regal Frame and attached all to a Yellow card base. Finished with a Power Poppy sentiment in Memento Bamboo Leaves ink.
Challenges:
Retro Rubber Challenge: #115 Color Me-Use Purple, Yellow, and Green. Used pansy stamp 9 years old.

Christmas in Hot July

Hello!  What better way to stay cool during this heat wave...  thinking of snow, snowmen, and Christmas?  So that resulted in another Christmas Card!  I used one of my fave snowman stamps from Flourishes Warm Winter Wishes set by Marcella Hawley.  I stamped him with Tuxedo Black ink on white CS and colored with Copics.  Added some sparkly Diamond Stickles to the snowman and Embossed the Background with Clouds using a Darice EF.  Added some "snow swirls" to the foreground with another Darice EF which actually is a woodgrain design turn horizontally.  ( this was another layer of white CS that I cut and embossed for a snow bank).  Sponged and inked some blue on the sky and snow.  Finished with a Power Poppy sentiment from Poinsettias set heat embossed with Silver EP and a  card base of GKD Blue CS.
