Groovy NBUS

Hello!  I have been playing with some groovy colors again. This time I have created a card with a tie dye tee shirt using a NBUS stamp from Custer's Last Stamp which has to be from 2009 or before. I think this stamp was part of a blog giveaway. I stamped the shirt outline with DOI Wilted Violet and created the tie dye design with Memento Markers Rose Bud, Cantaloupe, Pear Tart, and Tangelo. (Used a older Gina K Design Doily stamp with the markers and a spritz of water for this look, but that's another story). After water coloring the shirt, I fussy cut it and attached it to a white background embossed with Darice Frenzy Flowers EF.  That added some 60's Flower Power vibes to the design.  Finished with some NBUS sentiments from 2009 GKD Taglines and purple gems. Used bright Green Card base.  And the small heart stamp is also GKD.

Beautiful Butterfly

Hello! I was trying to decide on a card design to make for the current challenge at Modsquad Challenges which is Beautiful Butterflies - to include a BUTTERFLY on the front of your card. I was trying to decide whether to create a background using some fancy technique, do some ink blending, use some dies, add a lot of embellishments, etc and then it struck me ......just focus on a beautiful butterfly and let it be the star on the card. I simply used an older Gina K Stamp from the Hope is Faith set and stamped it on a paper that was preprinted with a frame (in my stash from Gina K) using Memento Black ink.  I colored the image with Memento Markers and a Sakura Blue Gelly pen. I checked the image of a Swallowtail Butterfly to make sure my coloring was close to nature.  I attached the image to a  card base of Gina K Wild Dandelion. I am pleased that I decided to focus on the butterfly.

Challenges:
Allsorts Challenge: Week 614 Use Yellow
Addicted to CAS: #192 Animals  (according to the internet, Butterflies are animals.)

Just Fluttering By

Hello! I have second card featuring a butterfly for the Double D Challenge to use Butterflies.  For this design I used a die cut butterfly cut from Black and Yellow card stocks using Exotic Butterfly and Angel Wing dies from Cheery Lynn.  I did some shading on the yellow layer before gluing the 2 die cuts together.  For the background, I inked an old Hero Arts Stamp ( One of my first Hero Arts stamps from 2009) called Red Fushia with Memento Markers Bamboo Leaves and Lilac Posie, spritzed with some water, and stamped on a white card stock panel. It's been a while since I used this technique.  I stamped the sentiment with Memento Lilac Posie ink. Popped up the butterfly on the design and attached to a textured card base to finish.
Challenges:
Double D Challenge: Butterflies
Retro Rubber Challenge: #141 Anything Goes using older stamps than a year.  The flower stamp is from 2009.
Die Cut Divas Challenge: August theme is all about flowers. Used Die cut butterfly with Flowers.

Inspiring Poppies

Hello! I made this card for the Monthly Mix Challenge Lean On Me at Gina K Designs which is to create a card of encouragement and to decorate a matching envelope.  I chose stamps from GKD Inspiring Poppies and used a vase stamp from GKD Buds & Vases.  I stamped the flowers on white card stock by inking the stamp with Memento Green and Pink inks using markers and ink cubes. I colored the images with Copics. I stamped the vase with Memento Gray over  the flowers but also stamped it on Vellum and embossed with Clear EP and fussy cut.  I attached it to the card with Vellum Tape. Added the sentiment with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink and glued on some Dewdrops.  Finished the card with a card base of GKD Grass Green card stock. I created a matching envelope by stamping and coloring the Inspired Poppies on the front corner to match the card.  I seem to make a lot of cards using a favorite combo of Pink and Green.
Challenges:
Monthly Mix Challenge:  Lean On Me-For this challenge, all you have to do is create a card of encouragement!  AND you must decorate a matching envelope.

Bouquet de Lavande

Hello!  I am again playing with flower stamps to create another floral theme card, my favorite.  I inked the Lavender stamp directly with Memento Markers using lavenders, grays, and greens and stamped on White Card stock. I have not used this technique of inking colors directly on a stamp in awhile. I filled in some of the image with Copics after stamping.  I cut an opening in a mat of lavender cardstock with a fancy oval die and then embossed the opening with a larger die creating a embossed frame around the image.  Added a Purple Satin ribbon from stash and then attached to a Purple card base.  Finished with the stamp "Bouquet de Lavande" in DOI Wilted Violet. This card was inspired by the mood board challenge at Double D.  All stamps from Power Poppy Lavender set.
Challenges:
Double D Challenge:  Lavenders, Lilac, Purple Challenge.
Retro Rubber Challenge: #134 Spring Flowers. Have had  Power Poppy stamps about 5 years, dated 2014.

Tall Giraffe

Second Post Today
Hello! I am playing with animals today....a change up from Christmas and flowers.  I used stamps from GKD Wild About You set .  I stamped the Giraffe with DOI and colored with Copics. The grass was done with Memento Cottage Ivy marker.  The sentiment was stamped with 2 colors of DOI. Used an orange card base and a scrap of patterned paper to finish.  The finished size of card is 3.75" x5.5" so I consider this a tall card with a tall animal.

Birthday for My Man

Hello!  I was playing with a Gina K Design set called The Northwoods 2 to create a masculine card without any layers.  I began with a GKD heavy weight white card stock because I can use Copics to color on this paper and there will be no bleeding of ink on the back side.  Great for one layer cards!
I stamped a lake scene using Memento Markers to apply colors directly on the stamps.  For fun, I just had to add a bear (for my DH) and did that  by stamping the bear first and then used masking when stamping the trees.  Colored the scene with Copics and sponged the sky with Memento Summer Sky ink.  Stamped the sentiment with Tuxedo Black ink.  Perfect birthday card for the man in my life.

Pansies Remembered

Welcome! Hope you are staying cool!  It's too hot to spend time in my garden so I am playing with some flower stamps in my studio where it is very cool.  After seeing the latest challenge at Retro Rubber, I was reminded by Neva (RRDT) of an older pansy stamp that I have had from PSX since about 1999.  I fell in love with PSX flower stamps when I started stamping and have several.  I have not used this Pansy stamp in some time and just had to dust it off and make this card.  Guess you might say that I CASE'd Neva's card ….hope that is all right?
I stamped the image ( without the botanical name) with Memento Black Tuxedo ink on white CS and colored with Copics and Memento Markers in shades of Purple, Yellow and Green. I stamped a Gina K Designs sentiment with the black ink. Then I simply attached the trimmed image to a mat of Yellow CS and card base of Purple CS.
Challenges:
Retro Rubber Challenge: RRCB 115 Color challenge use purple, yellow, and green  on your card. The PSX stamp is at least 20 years old....that's old!

Rainbows and Butterflies

Welcome!  I am playing with Butterflies and Rainbow Colors using a sketch from Retro Rubber Challenge #91 to create a CAS card.  I began by inking the Butterfly stamp from GKD A Year Of Borders set.  I used Memento Markers to ink the butterflies in the colors of the Rainbow and stamped on White CS and colored in the images with Colored Pencils.  I stamped the older Sentiment from Papers and Such with Memento red ink.  Finished with strips of blue cut with Martha Stewart Scallop Dot Punch and a card base of the same blue.

Christmas in July

Hello!  July is a good time to make Christmas cards in order to have a stash for the holiday.   I made this card using a technique of thumping which is to ink a stamp with a marker and then add more color to by tapping a darker colored marker over the stamp.  I used GKD stamps from Pressed Flowers (flower and stem) and Joyful Holidays(Sentiment) with Memento Markers I inked the Poinsettia with Lady Bug and then thumped on  Rhubarb Stalk.  The stems were inked with Bamboo Leaves and thumped with Cottage Ivy. I use GKD dies to cut out the images and arranged on a embossed mat of GKD Grass Green CS. Stamped the sentiment with Hero Arts white ink and heat embossed with EP. Added a bit of gold embossing to center of flowers.

You're a Hoot!

Hello!  Rainy day here in Ohio.  Good day to houseclean or make cards?  This card was inspired by Just Us Girls photo challenge shown below. I pulled out an old Owl Stamp and sentiments from my stash to create a simple card with Memento Rich Cocoa ink, Memento markers, Patterned Paper, White and Rust CS, and Oval dies.   The owl was heat embossed with Clear EP before coloring and the panel of patterned paper was embossed with Polka Dots EF.  Branch was made with a scrap of Brown CS and Brown Marker.

Used Copic and Memento Markers and SU Cameo Coral and  Blues and Memento Espresso Truffle and Pear Tart inks for stamping and coloring.  Papers are White CS, Cooral CS, and Green Vellum.  Inked edges of Paper with Memento Pear Tart ink.

Butterfly with Tissue Paper Background

Hello! Some days a card is easier to make than others.  I found this card came together easy once I decided to use a large Butterfly stamp from  Repeat Impressions.  I decided to create the background with tissue paper using a watercoloring method.  I used Distress Inks Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber, and Squeezed Lemonade to watercolor the tissue paper which I scrunched up and glued to a panel of White CS.  I stamped the Repeat Impressions sentiment with Memento Tuxedo black directly to the tissue paper layer.  I stamped the Butterfly with same black ink and colored with Memento Markers and fussy cut.  Assembled the card with an orange card base following a sketch from the challenge below and added some dew drops and a ring around the butterfly.

Birthday Card with Colors

Welcome!  This card is for the Release Party Challenge at Stamp TV.  We are to create a card with 5 or more colors.  I chose to use a GKD stamp from A Year of Borders that I colored with Memento Markers Cantaloupe, Dandelion, Lady Bug,  Lulu Lavender, New Sprout, and Rose Bud after I stamped the border with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on White CS.  I cut the words with Cheery Lynn Dies on the White CS layer and attached the white layer to a Green card base.  The hard part was attaching the white bits of the cut letters to the words.   I guess it would have been simpler to just cut the words  in the Green CS, but I chose the difficult way.   I like the way it came out.
