Sending Birthday Wishes

Welcome to my studio!  Did you know that in some cultures, dragonflies represent good luck or prosperity? So, make a wish when you see a dragonfly and it'll come true.  And some say butterflies are omens of good luck.  If I send a card with both a dragonfly and a butterfly, would my card be doubly full of good luck for birthday wishes to come true?  That thought inspired my design for this card  made for a new challenge that I just found, and it intrigued me....

Paper Dragonfly Creative Challenge #2 2022 is anything flies (meaning anything goes) using only the colors Pink and Black.  

Details of card: Stamped Power Poppy Dahlia XL on white CS and colored with Copics.  Placed the image on a Black Mat and then on to White Card Base.  Stamped and double heat embossed Power Poppy sentiment to send Happy Wishes. I selected this particular stamp because "wishes" look like it was written by a butterfly in flight, does it not?

I finished the card by adding the butterfly cut with a Cheery Lynn Die and lined with Pink Vellum. The dragonfly was stamped on Pink Vellum using Versamark ink with a Creative Dies stamp and heat embossed with Black EP and then cut with a die also from Creative Dies. I wanted the dragonfly to have that iridescent and transparent look of a real one.

Seize the Birthday:   #231 Sparkle and Shine. The dragonfly does have some sparkle and shine but hard to see so I'll go with Anything Goes for a Birthday.

Take Flight

Hello! Today I have a card made with a Dragonfly stamp and die from Creative Dies.  I stamped the dragonfly on a leftover background paper that I created with Versamark and heat embossed with WOW Silver EP.  I cut with the die and attached to a background panel that I created with White CS and Distress Oxide inks.  I stamped with a GKD sentiment from Take Flight set dated 2009 using white Hero Arts ink and White EP.  Finished with a coordinated Blue card base.

Sunflower Greetings

 Welcome!  I am playing with another sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches shown below.  I used a Repeat Impressions Sunflower stamp (yes, I have another sunflower stamp) stamped with Memento Toffee Crunch ink on White CS and colored with Copics.  Trimmed this with an oval die and placed on a green patterned mat cut with a scalloped oval die.  Used some die cuts of patterned paper and a polka dot background all from Kaiser Craft Jungle Bug pad to complete the card.  Stamped sentiment from Flourishes set in brown ink and added a dragonfly button from my stash.
I have had the sunflower stamp since 2015.

Stencil Monoprint

Hello!  I read about the Stencil Monoprint technique and saw some videos at CAS Mix  Up Card challenge and had to give it a try.  Actually I tried it with several stencils using different combos of Distress Oxide Inks.  I am sharing one of the results on this finished card.  I used Tim Holtz Lace Layering stencil to create the print. I trimmed a section of the print and placed on a mat of Bright Blue CS and a White card base.  Added a die cut Dragonfly that I heat embossed with Silver Snowflake Embossing Tinsel  and stamped a Repeat Impressions Vertical sentiment with Picked Raspberry DOI.  Stay tune for more cards with Stencil Monoprint.

Dragonflies a Flutter

Hello! Are you having a Buggy summer?  Made this buggy card for Double D Challenge "Don't Bug Me!".  They really want to see bugs on our cards.   I chose to use Dragonflies since I have this great Kathy Davis Pattern Paper and  used it with Creative Dies Dragonfly stamp and die set.  I stamped the Dragonfly 3 times on a panel of White CS with Memento Paris Dusk Ink (trimmed and fussy cut the extended wings and inked edges)  and placed Dragonflies die cuts from Vellum over the stamped images. I colored the Vellum ones with Pencils to match the colors in the Pattern Paper used as the background on a White card base.  Assembled the card and added a sentiment and sequins to finish.  Fun card! Fun challenge!

A Trio of Dragonflies

Hello!  Today I have another card using the Sketch Challenge from Tuesday Morning Sketches.  I wanted to make this one with more emphasis on their theme-to use a die cut. Using black ink, I stamped  and cut three dragonflies from Ivory CS.  The stamp and die are from Creative Dies.  I added shine with Sakura Stardust Pen which I think you can see in the photo.  Following the sketch, I assembled the card with an Ivory card base and mat with papers from Graphic 45 Secret Garden paper pad. The center panel was embossed with a Darice EF. The word Thanks was cut with Cheery Lynn die twice, once in ivory and once in blue.

Flying By to Say Hi

Hi!  Today I am sharing a card with a tag and dragonfly theme.  I cut the tag using a Spellbinder Die but trimmed it to make it the shape that I wanted. I inked the tag with Distress Ink Stormy Sky, Broken China and SU Bordering Blue. I then stamped the Dragonfly on to the tag and then attached a Dragonfly stamped on Vellum with Versamark and heat embossed with Gold EP.  This was cut with a die....stamp and die are from a set by Creative Die.  The Papers and Such sentiment was stamped with SU Night of Navy ink.  I finished with a card base of Turquoise CS and a layer of MME Pattern Paper. I loved  when I found the perfect paper to go with the tag.  I usually start with the paper first as color inspiration but I kind of worked backward here.

Thank You Smoosh

Hello!  I had some more paper designs from my playing with smooshing techniques the other day and decided to make a Thank You card using one of the papers for the background.  Distress Inks Fossilized Amber, Cracked Pistachio, and  Abandoned Coral were used on the panel of water color paper that I attached to an Ivory card base.  Added some Cheery Lynn die cut words from some scraps and a dragonfly die cut in Mint Green.

Thank You Tag

Hello! I have a tag to share but I missed the challenge that inspired me to make it.  I used elements from the inspiration tag from Tag You're It! challenge of acetate for the base, a 3D flower, and even the Dragonfly.  The Flowers, Leaves, and Thanks were cut with Cheery Lynn Dies.  The Dragonfly was stamped on a bit of acetate with Stazon and fussy cut.  The almost silvery Vellum that I used for the flower and smaller leaf was recycled from a page in a Cadillac flyer. Added Ribbons of black and silvery organza to the tag.

Cheery Lynn Design Challenge: #217  Anything Goes. I used dies from Build a Flower sets and the word Die Thanksgiving.

Cherry Blossom Time

Today I have been inspired by the colors (pink, blues, green) and shapes (blossoms, dragonfly, circles)  from the photo for Cupcake Inspirations Challenge combined with the sketch layout from Sketch Saturday.   I stamped Rubber Stampede Cherry Blossom with Rich Cocoa ink on a white CS and colored with Pink, Green,  and Brown Copics.  I added a Dragonfly made with Stamp and Die from Creative dies using Nautical Blue ink.
The card was assembled with Embossed Pink Card Base, a layer of MME Pattern Paper, and Green Grosgrain ribbon.  Flourishes sentiment was inked with Rich Cocoa.

Colorful Summer Dragonfly

Summer is coming to an end soon but the dragonflies are still in the garden.   The ones that we have are a beautiful iridescent blue and green that I have tried to capture on my card.  I had forgotten this PSX stamp until I saw my friend Joy's Dragonfly card on her blog here and  I pulled out the stamp to play with.  I also was inspired by this week's challenge at Just Us Girls to use blues and greens.  I colored the image with Glaze pens .....which gave a very shiny finish. Added some doodling with the black glaze pen. Added Pear Tart coloring to the edge of the image and looped edge ribbon to finish.  I thought the pattern paper was a perfect combo.
