Penguins on Parade

Hello!  Still playing with Christmas cards and challenges.  I found this cute penguin in my stash of clear stamps from the Winter Wishes set by Jane's Doodles.  Also discovered I had the same image in my digital images. I stamped him 3 times with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with Copics.  Added a sentiment from my stash.  Trimmed the image, outlined with Black Copic and attached to a Plaid Paper and then to a card base of textured green CS.

Amazing Pigeon

Hello!  Isn't it amazing all the things author Mo Williams' pigeon does and tries to do like "Driving a Bus"?  I was not familiar with this children's book so had to do a little research on the author and book.  For the challenge at The Library Challenge #40 "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus",  I decided to create  a card featuring a pigeon to send someone amazing.  I was inspired by the colors of the cover and also the speech bubble.  I found  a digital image of a pigeon, printed it on white CS and added more blue to  the color and some coral stripes (inked with DOI Abandoned Coral) to anchor the bird on my one layer card.  Stamped the bubble and sentiment stamps from Jane's Doodles set in Memento Black ink.  Fun to make!

I Love Books

 Welcome!  The Challenge #93 at Tag You're It! is Bookmarks which are really tags.  I created this one using a stamp set  from Jane's Doodles called Read All About It.  I stamped the  book image 3 times making a tall stack of Books and coloring them with Copics.  Stamped the sentiment with the same Memento Tuxedo Black ink and the heart with Red ink.  Cut a small rectangle for the green satin Ribbon with a very small die that I forgot that I had.  Backed the CAS bookmark with Dark Chocolate CS.  Used corner punch to round top corners. 
I love reading books but mostly read on my Kindle but I still use Cookbooks so will use this to mark a recipe?

The Library Challenge

Welcome!  One of the most fun challenges that I played with lately is The Library Challenge.

Each challenge will feature a book and you can be inspired by the cover, the title, or the story. The recent Challenge #17 is the book The Woman in the Window.   I was inspired by the colors and brick on the cover of the paperback edition as well as the title using a woman sitting in a window on my card.  As I have read this book and enjoyed the suspense of this thriller,  I did not want to reveal any of the story of the book in case you have not read the book.   But I did include a couple of elements that play in the book, specifically a camera-with a "zoom" lens and a glass of merlot, both shown on the window ledge.  On my card, I featured a woman reading a book in the window but in the book she would more likely be watching an old movie or "spying" out the window.  Read the book and find all about the "woman in the window".  It's a really good suspense story. 

Supplies used: Clear Stamps from Little Claire Designs (Room With a View and Birdcage sets), Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Copics, Clear Vellum(for the window and handmade wine glass), White CS, Yellow CS, Distress Oxide ink Faded Blue, Camera Metal Brad, Sentiment from Jane's Doodles, Scor-pal for scoring brick wall.  The window was stamped on Clear Vellum with black ink and heat embossed with Clear EP.  I layered it between the Brick Wall and the layer with the image. 

My photos show the card with the window closed for the envelope and also opened.

A Stack of Books with Fall Flowers

Hello!  Today I am playing with the Power & Spark Challenge -Hit the Books.  We are to be inspired by anything related to books.   I combined a Power Poppy digital image Sunshine of My Life with a Bee Crafty digital of a stack of books that I resized and printed on White CS.  I colored with Copics and combined with some scraps of some striped paper that went well with the colors that I had used. The stamped sentiment is from a Jane's Doodles set. When I showed this card to my DH, he suggested that I add some titles to the books which I did with a Micro Uni-ball pen.

Inspired by a Book

 Hello!   Today I am playing with a new (to me) challenge-The Library Challenge.  Each challenge features a book and you can be inspired by the cover, the title, or the story.  I was inspired by the cover-I used the colors and also the layout that features a single image.  For my card, I stamped the Bear image from Jane's Doodles (Winter Wishes) with brown ink on yellow CS and colored with Copics.  I drew the Honey (Hunny) Pot on Kraft CS, colored with copics, and fussy cut.  I hand wrote the word HUNNY on the pot and attached it with foam tape.  I generated the quote and printed it on the computer using a Scribble Text. Finished with a Red card base.

I Love Books

Hello!  Read any good books lately?  To date this year, I have read 50 books....yes, I keep a list of what I read. I was inspired to make a book mark using a stamp set that I won from Jane's Doodles called Read All About It.   Stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics.  I trimmed the white CS panel and rounded the corners with a punch.  Attached to a Blue Heavyweight shiny blue paper that I recycled from another card.  I plan to laminate the book mark later but thought it would photograph best as is.  

My DH asked why I needed a bookmark since I read all my books on my Kindle.  And it is too girlie for him (he stills reads print books) but I am converting him to Kindle.  Good question, DH.....I can use it in my cookbooks or give as a gift.

Who Is Amazing?

Hello! Or should I say Whoo! Whoo!
I am not sure what inspired this card with the Owl and Trees, but I pulled out the Jane's Doodles stamp set Wise Owl and began to play with it.  I decided to use colors Gray, Yellow, Kraft and White from the Color Throwdown challenge.  Made a background of Trees with Memento ink on white CS.  Stamped the Owl on Kraft, Yellow, and Gray CS's and fussy cut and paper pieced the pieces to shape the Owl that I sat on the stamped branch.  Finished with some Baby Button eyes and the sentiment stamped in Yellow and Kraft inks. Placed on Yellow card base.

More Feathers

Welcome!  I have another entry for Darnell's new Twofer Card Challenge -  make two different card designs for two different occasions using the same stamps and/or dies. Challenge #1 is Feathers.  I again am using a new stamp set Wise Owl by Jane's Doodles but using another one of the great feather stamps.

For my first design, I stamped the feather 3 times with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with copics and added a sentiment from Gina K. Kept it CAS with a Orange card base. 

For the second card, I stamped the same feather stamp 8 times with the black ink on a Green Paper from Graphic 45 Secret Garden pad and fussy cut all eight.  I sponged them with a bit of Distress Oxide ink.  I then arranged the feathers in a "wreath" or "flower" on a background of green paper that was embossed with CB Wicker Weave EF-has a distressed look with the white showing through. Added some circle die cuts of yellow and white stamped with sentiments from the Jane's Doodle set with DO Fossilized Amber ink.

Twofer Challenge

 Welcome!  There is an exciting new card challenge in Blogland!
Darnell has created a new Twofer Card Challenge - we are to make two different card designs for two different occasions using the same stamps and/or dies.  This looks to be a fun challenge. 

I have been anticipating the first challenge and Challenge #1 is Feathers.  I was excited by this theme since I have a new stamp set Wise Owl by Jane's Doodles which has some great Feather stamps which I was anxious to use.  My first card was a CAS design featuring a feather used as a quill to write the words Happy Birthday (Gina K stamp).  I used Memento Tuxedo Black, London Fog, Desert Sand and Love Letter inks for stamping and heat embossed with Clear EP.  Finished with Black card base.

For the next card, I stamped feathers with Versamark ink and heat embossed with White EP on White CS.  I sponged this with Fired Brick Distress Oxide ink and cut with an Oval die and placed on a Scalloped Oval of White CS. I attached to a panel of MME pattern paper from Chalk Studio pad and to a white card base.  Finished with Gina K sentiment heat embossed with White EP and some enamel dots.
Note: I received the Wise Owl set as part of a prize that I won from Jane's Doodles for the Caring Hearts Card Drive.
