Modified the Final Look

Hello! The current challenge at Modsquad Challenge is Beautiful Butterflies and the Monthly Mix Challenge at Gina K Designs is Here Comes the Sun.  I combined the 2 challenges and came up with this card to enter.  I created a sunrise scene using a circle mask cut with a die and ink blending with Distress Oxide inks on a white cardstock.  After completing the background, I stamped the flowers and butterflies using stamps from Gina K Design Birds & Blossoms set. The images were colored with Copics.  Added a Gina K sentiment stamped with Memento Black ink and die cut. Finished with a white card base. After I took a photograph of the card, I decided the horizon was too straight and drew in a row of trees to break it up.  The revised card is shown below.  I think it improved the card but what do you think? Print Making with A Die Cut

 Hello!  I decided to play with this month's CAS Mix Up Card Challenge which is to do print making with a die-cut and to use watercoloring as the main element in our design.  New technique for me. Since I have not done this before I watched the tutorial video by Kathy Racoosin shared on the challenge. 

I cut a flower from watercolor paper with Memory Box Die Darling Poppies and used the die cut and colored with Distress Oxide Inks  to create a background on panels of watercolor paper.  I did this on  3 cards but finished each one a bit differently. 

For the top card, I embossed the background panel with the print from the die-cut using an oval die and then attached the die cut flower on the top but did not insert  the pieces of the petals. I only attached the outline portion of the flower and stems so the background print that I did showed through.  Finished with a Green card base. In the photos, I showed the die cut flower that I water colored  and used for print making. 

For the card above,  I made another print on the background and attached another  flower that I kept with all the die cut pieces and watercolored. Used rectangle dies for frame and attached to a base of white card stock.

For my last design using the same technique for my background, I die cut the poppies from white cardstock and only watercolored the stems and the inlaid pieces of the petals. Finished this one with a birthday sentiment from Gina K designs. 

Supplies: Distress Oxide Inks Picked Raspberry, Peeled Paint, Aged Mahogany, Spice Marmalade. Watercolor Paper, White and Green CS, Oval Die, Memory Box Die.

Hello Inspiration

Hello!  My card today was inspired by the Photo Inspiration DCC Challenge F321 at The House That Stamps Built. As I starting planning my design, I remembered a Repeat Impressions stamp Lily of the Valley that I do not think I ever used in a card. I combined this with stamps from RI Hello Cling set using colors and other elements from the Photo. Other supplies: White CS, Pattern Paper from MME, Texture paper from DCWV, Versamark ink, DOI Brown, Wow Chestnut Embossing Powder, Copics, Liquid Pearls, Memento Inks.

Fall Leaves

Hello! I made this card a few days ago and forgot to post so I will do so now.  For the background I used a sheet of Gina K Designs Foil mates which I blended with Distress Oxide inks.  I tried to adhere foil to the design but for some reason I was not successful doing that. I stamped and embossed leaves and a sentiment form GKD Skeleton Leaves set (year 2018) on a panel of white cardstock. Used gold EP with Versamrk ink.  I inked the edges of both panels with Pilot Gold Metallic marker before assembling on a card base of Warm Cocoa GKD Cardstock.

Embossing with Dies

Hello! It is fun to use dies for embossing and it is interesting what you can do with that technique.  To make a card with die embossing, I chose an older die from Cheery Lynn, the first one I bought from that company. For the top card, I embossed the large Fanciful Flourish die along with Cheery Lynn Thank You dies on a panel of White cardstock. I sponged it with DOI Vintage Photo to achieve an antique distressed look.  I stamped some flowers on pink card stock with Memento Pink ink using a Heartfelt Creations Rose stamp. I fussy cut the flowers and attached with foam tape. Attached to a pink card base to finish.

I decided to make another card but made it more CAS with out the background inked giving more white space.  For this one I only used the Fanciful Flourish die for embossing and stamped the GKD Sentiment with Memento Brown ink. I stamped the same flower - 2 directly on the card and one that I stamped on white Cardstock and fussy cut. I stamped the roses with same pink ink  and colored with pencil and markers.  I distressed the edge of the panel with DOI Walnut Stain and used a brown card base.

Stencil and Leaves

Hello! It's beginning to feel like fall and I love to make fall cards with beautiful autumn colors.  I was playing with a GKD Stencil Rounded Swirl when I designed this card. I used Distress Oxide Inks Fossilized Amber, Wild Honey, and Spiced Marmalade with the stencil on white cardstock blending the colors from light to dark and used masking to create a stripe. I stamped leaves from GKD A Year of Leaves set with the same inks and water colored with a water brush. I stamped one leaf and fussy cut it and attached with foam tape for dimension. The sentiment is from GKD Skeleton Leaves. I added some dew drops in  different colors that blended with colors of the swirls.  I have had these dew drops for years and never seem to deplete the supply. Before attaching the base card of GKD Kissed Autumn card stock, I added an orange satin ribbon ......the card just called for that finishing touch.

Pop Goes the Peony!

Another post for today!  I've been spending a little time in the studio...cloudy outside today.  I created this card for the challenge at Creative Confetti - to color up the background to make your flower pop.  I used a colored textured cardstock for my background for the Peony that I stamped, colored, and fussy cut. The flower and leaves stamps from Power Poppy Peony Muse set were inked with Distress Oxide inks Picked Raspberry and Peeled Paint and stamped on to White CS(used masking when stamping the leaves under the flower).  Colored in the image with Copics. Arranged yellow and  red panels on a green card base. Attached the flower and the sentiment ( Power Poppy Dahlias set) that I heat embossed with Red EP on a scrap of yellow and layered with scrap of green. I don't often mix pink and red but thought this combo really popped!

Trying Retiform Technique

Hello! Wednesday I posted a card that was very quick to create and today I have 2 cards that took quite a bit of time to create. Just finding the stamps that I used took a bit of time.  I used the retiform technique that I saw on a Gina K video.  This technique uses sticky notes and sponges to mask off areas of the card and then stamp in each area.  I used mostly Gina K Design stamps from Gifts from the Sea for my first try at the technique.  The sentiment is from another GKD set. The bird head on left is a Repeat Impressions stamp. Other Supplies: White CS, Brown CS, Memento Inks, Distress Oxide Inks.

Keep Your Distance

Hello! I am playing today with the Creative Confetti Challenge Keep Your Distance-challenge is to space out images on your creation.  I chose the Coreopsis stamp from Power Poppy Vibrant Thanks set and stamped it  3 times on a white cardstock with Memento Black Ink and colored with Copics and a Memento marker.  Stamped the sentiments from the same set with the black ink and embossed with clear EP.  Did a bit of sponging with DOI Peeled Paint and attached to a GKD Green card base.

Rainbow from the Heart

Hello!  This is a card that I made just for fun.  Today I am playing with a digital image that I recently downloaded from PaperCrafter Magazine. I colored the Rainbow with Copics after printing on White cardstock.  Stamped the Sentiment and Sun image with Laurel Burch stamps from Stampendous that I had never used. Added some texture to the clouds with a Snow Marker. Card base is GKD Blue CS.

Embossed Silhouette

Hello! I was truly inspired by Power Poppy Blog Monday Inspire Me post about Embossed Silhouette.  I was so inspired that I immediately CASE'd Julie's card.  I even used a flower stamp from the same set that she used- Vibrant Thanks set- but I used the Bee Balm  instead of the Coreopsis.  I also did sponging very similar to what she did.  I simply followed her steps to create this card so please check out her post ….she explained everything much better that I can. 

Supplies used: Power Poppy Vibrant Thanks and Simply Camelia stamp sets; White, Fresh Asparagus, and Faded Brick GKD cardstocks; Fried Brick and Peeled Paint DOI, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Versamark Ink; White EP; Copic Black Multiliner pen and marker; Dewdrops.

Creative Confetti:  Frame It Up.  Simply framed my image with layers of card stock and also framed the edges of image with a black Copic.

Tall Giraffe

Second Post Today
Hello! I am playing with animals today....a change up from Christmas and flowers.  I used stamps from GKD Wild About You set .  I stamped the Giraffe with DOI and colored with Copics. The grass was done with Memento Cottage Ivy marker.  The sentiment was stamped with 2 colors of DOI. Used an orange card base and a scrap of patterned paper to finish.  The finished size of card is 3.75" x5.5" so I consider this a tall card with a tall animal.

Birthday Card with Stencil

Hello! I have been playing with stencil monoprinting to create a card for the challenge at CAS Stencil Challenge. You simply apply inks onto a stencil, spray with water, and lay on a panel of water color paper to create the design. I used a Lace Layering stencil by Tim Holtz with Distress Oxide inks Candied Apple and Peeled Paint.  I trimmed a section of the panel, inked the edges with a Copic marker and added to a card base of White CS.  Finished with Cheery Lynn die cut words to make a Birthday card. 

Check out the tutorials for this technique at the CAS Stencil challenge.  I found them very helpful.

A Harvest of Pumpkins

Hello! The weather report online calls today Haze and that it is....the sky is gray and hazy.  I guess you might say the scene on this card is haze since I used a card stock for the base that seems to be a haze color.  I was trying to use a neutral color and that is what I pulled from my paper stash instead of a blue color.  This card was inspired by the challenge at Double D to create a Neutral Fall theme card inspired by their Mood Board. I took inspiration from the Truck design loaded with pumpkins shown on the pillow. I also pulled colors for the embossed  tree and used woodgrain pattern from the board. I die cut the truck with Cheapo dies from Ivory, Black, and Metallic Silver card stock scraps.  Used a piece of clear acrylic for the window. I filled the truck with Pumpkins that I fussy cut from a scrap of Patterned Paper (shown in photo).  I embossed the texture beige card base with Leafy Tree embossing folder from Darice and inked the raised areas with Distress Oxide inks. Love the texture of the tree that showed up with inking. I created a road for the truck with a scrap of woodgrain paper and stamped a sentiment from my stash with a Distress ink.  Fun card...love how it evolved.

Note: Haze often occurs when dust and smoke particles accumulate in relatively dry air. When weather conditions block the dispersal of smoke and other pollutants they concentrate and form a usually low-hanging shroud that impairs visibility.

Happy Travels

Hello!  I am back as promised with another unused digital image from my files.  This one is by From The Hearts called  Happy Travels.  I am glad to have these lovely digital images in my files as this artist is no longer with us.  I printed the image and sentiment in black ink on Cream Cardstock and colored with Black, Brown, and Cream Copics.  I created the brick background ( inspired by the photo) using my Scor-pal and sponging with DOI Vintage Photo. The brown ink took on a  orangey cast on the cream CS? Added a die cut tag from the cream CS embellished with  stickers and a bit of string. Attached the image to a black card base to finish.   Guess the style of the card leans more to clean and layered even though I gave the luggage a vintage look.

Ready for a Trip

Welcome to a rainy day in the studio!  A couple of challenges brought to mind some digital images that I have never used.  This card uses one of them -the Tiddly Inks image of Suitcases which was a freebie.  I thought it would be perfect for the ModSquad challenge to use only 3 colors black, brown, and cream plus a tag.  All suitcases need some type of tag and most are brown or black??  I printed the image on a cream card stock with black ink of course. I colored the images with Brown and Black Copics and sponged the edges with DOI Antique Oxide and Vintage Photo.  This gave an antique look to the stack of luggage. Added some texture with Glossy Accents to the corners and latches. I die cut a couple of tags in the cream CS and added some stickers from Imaginations (in my stash).  Attached the tags with a Brown Brad.  Also added a sticker to the side of the locker.  Finished with a mat of brown and card base of black, both card stocks from GKD. I would call this Clean and Simple style. 

I'll be back later with another image that I remembered in my digital files.

Stamping with a Leaf

Welcome!  Playing with a lot of leaves lately...in more ways than one.  Today I have a card that I made using a real leaf from a Coleus plant from my garden.  I actually stamped the image about a year ago after watching a Gina K video of using real leaves as stamps.  When I saw the challenge at Modsquad to use an item from nature on your project, I remembered this image I had stamped and put in my box of  leftovers. (I created a couple cards with this method last year that I posted but never used this saved image so I resurrected it for this card).

The  Coleus leaf was inked with Twisted Citron and Aged Mahogany DOI and stamped on white cardstock.  I rounded  three corners with a punch and attached to GKD Faded Brick CS and added sentiment with GKD stamps and die.  I made the photo on the left and then decided to add some dewdrops and captured a second photo.  Which version do you like?

Take Flight

Hello! Today I have a card made with a Dragonfly stamp and die from Creative Dies.  I stamped the dragonfly on a leftover background paper that I created with Versamark and heat embossed with WOW Silver EP.  I cut with the die and attached to a background panel that I created with White CS and Distress Oxide inks.  I stamped with a GKD sentiment from Take Flight set dated 2009 using white Hero Arts ink and White EP.  Finished with a coordinated Blue card base.

Inky Paper Towel Returns for More Cards

Hello! I appreciate your stopping by!  I have been playing again with Paper Towels, a new technique for me.   I have been inspired by Loll's challenge at CAS Mix Up challenge to use/recycle inky paper towels.   The butterfly was cut with a Cheery Lynn die from some card stock that I transferred ink to from a inky paper towel that I also used on another card.  A section of the actual inky paper towel was cut and layered beneath a white card stock panel with an opening die cut with a Spellbinders circle die. The colors on the towel are Distress Oxide inks  Fired Brick, Fossilized Amber, and Squeezed Lemonade.  I attached the butterfly and  added some die cut flowers from yellow CS ( used Spellbinders Shapeabilities Flower Bundle) to the white panel. Then I stamped a Papers and Such sentiment with Fired Brick ink.  Attached all to a White Card Base.
