Print Making with A Die Cut

Hello!  I decided to play with this month's CAS Mix Up Card Challenge which is to do print making with a die-cut and to use watercoloring as the main element in our design.  New technique for me. Since I have not done this before I watched the tutorial video by Kathy Racoosin shared on the challenge.

I cut a flower from watercolor paper with Memory Box Die Darling Poppies and used the die cut and colored with Distress Oxide Inks  to create a background on panels of watercolor paper.  I did this on  3 cards but finished each one a bit differently.

For the top card, I embossed the background panel with the print from the die-cut using an oval die and then attached the die cut flower on the top but did not insert  the pieces of the petals. I only attached the outline portion of the flower and stems so the background print that I did showed through.  Finished with a Green card base. In the photos, I showed the die cut flower that I water colored  and used for print making.

For the card above,  I made another print on the background and attached another  flower that I kept with all the die cut pieces and watercolored. Used rectangle dies for frame and attached to a base of white card stock.

For my last design using the same technique for my background, I die cut the poppies from white cardstock and only watercolored the stems and the inlaid pieces of the petals. Finished this one with a birthday sentiment from Gina K designs.
Supplies: Distress Oxide Inks Picked Raspberry, Peeled Paint, Aged Mahogany, Spice Marmalade. Watercolor Paper, White and Green CS, Oval Die, Memory Box Die.

Inspiring Poppies

Hello! I made this card for the Monthly Mix Challenge Lean On Me at Gina K Designs which is to create a card of encouragement and to decorate a matching envelope.  I chose stamps from GKD Inspiring Poppies and used a vase stamp from GKD Buds & Vases.  I stamped the flowers on white card stock by inking the stamp with Memento Green and Pink inks using markers and ink cubes. I colored the images with Copics. I stamped the vase with Memento Gray over  the flowers but also stamped it on Vellum and embossed with Clear EP and fussy cut.  I attached it to the card with Vellum Tape. Added the sentiment with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink and glued on some Dewdrops.  Finished the card with a card base of GKD Grass Green card stock. I created a matching envelope by stamping and coloring the Inspired Poppies on the front corner to match the card.  I seem to make a lot of cards using a favorite combo of Pink and Green.
Challenges:
Monthly Mix Challenge:  Lean On Me-For this challenge, all you have to do is create a card of encouragement!  AND you must decorate a matching envelope.

To Brighten Your Day

Hello!  I have another card made with the sketch from Creative Confetti challenge shown below. This time I used Power Poppy's stamps from Poppies clear stamp set. I colored the Poppies with Copics on a white card stock panel that I trimmed and attached to patterned paper from the Blank Canvas pad from 1st Editions Papers. I let some of the flowers extend over the edges. I used a shiny organza ribbon and hand made double bow to complete the design. I am pleased with the finished card.

Fun with Poppies

Hello!  I made this card using a die-cut to create a stencil from cardstock.  I used Memory Box die Darling Poppies to create the stencil and also used some masking with the cut out pieces when I sponged DOI Picked Raspberry and Peeled Paint with the made stencil to the panel of white cardstock.  Using a rubber mat, I also dry embossed the image using the same die after applying the ink.  I stamped the GKD sentiment with DOI Peeled Paint and heat embossed with Clear EP.  Added some embossed dots with Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Border for more texture.   I attached the image to a pink card base in an asymmetrical fashion for interest.
Challenges:
CAS Mix Up Card Challenge: February Stencil from Die-cuts + Stamping + YourChoice. I used sponging, masking, and dry embossing.
Mix It Up Challenge: MIUCB #34 Anything Goes + Stenciling

Paper Towel with Poppies.

Morning! I am always interested in trying new techniques and using new products for making cards.  For this card I am using Paper Towels which I had on my work station.   I was inspired by Loll's challenge at CAS Mix Up challenge to use/recycle inky paper towels.  For my card I used a paper towel inked with Blue  Distress Oxide inks and transferred colors on to a White CS.  Check out Loll's video for instructions here.  Before I added the flower you could see part of the word "Bounty" in the paper towel imprint. But I am not advertising any particular towel, just what I had and was not paying attention to what section of the towel I used.  To finish the card I added some die cut flowers- Memory Box Darling Poppies- from Yellow and Green CS scraps.  Stamped the GKD sentiment with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink. Attached to a Blue Card base.

Red, White, and Blue Again

Hello! Another card that is CAS and fits some of the July challenges that I have been playing with.  I used the image from GKD Inspiring Poppies and sentiment from GKD You Make Me Smile.  Stamped the Poppies with Memento Tuxedo Black on white CS and trimmed with a square die and attached to a Blue mat.  Following a Sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch, I assembled the card with a White Card base, a Blue Ribbon with a Red edge, and the sentiment stamped with Versamark ink and heat embossed with GKD White EP on a die cut label of blue.  Note: I did not have any Bright Blue CS in the right shade, not even a scrap, so I colored White CS with Copic B29 for the small mat and label. I also inked the edges of the card with the marker to give the look of another layer but without the weight.

Rustic Flowers

Hello!   I was inspired by the sketch and photo by the challenge at Fusion.   I used a panel of woodgrain patterned paper and cut out a flower with Memory Box die Poppies.  I placed this on a card base of Coral CS and filled in the flower with green and coral pieces.  Used Copics to add some highlights to the petals.  Finished with a Gina K sentiment stamped in Vintage Photo DOI.  Really like the color combo.

Today I thought I'd share another photo of a flower from my garden.  This one is called Naked Lady....I only had one to bloom this year. This lily produces green, leafy growth  in the spring and dies back by mid summer. In late summer, leafless stems produce elegant, pink flowers.

Popping with Color

Welcome!  This week I am thrilled to be a Guest Star Stamper at Color Throwdown. The colors in the Challenge ctd503 are Red, Green, and Gray. And you can also incorporate any other neutrals that you might need.

I immediately thought of Poppies when I saw the color graphic....maybe it was the big red umbrella in the photo that brought that to mind.  I stamped the large botanical flowers from the Power Poppy set Poppies with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on White Cardstock.  I colored the image with reds, greens, and grays with Copics R24, R27, R46, G40, G82, N0, N2, N4.  This was a fun image to color and was perfect for the colors to use.  I stamped the sentiment from the same set with Memento Gray Flannel ink.  I highlighted the image simply with a Grass Green card base and a mat of Moonlit Fog cardstock.

Thanks to the great team at Color Throwdown for inviting me to be a Guest Star Stamper...it was an honor.  Make sure to check out their great designs for more inspiration and play along this week..

Hello! My second card today has the theme of Thinking Of You but I added an inside message that makes it a Christmas card for a special person.  I printed a digital image of Poppies by Crafty Secrets on Watercolor paper and colored with a water brush and Distress Inks.  I added a sentiment from Gina K Designs with Memento Tuxedo Black that I embossed with Clear EP.  I simply finished with a layer of Black CS and a card base of Green CS.  I finished the inside saying "With Love This Christmas Season" (printed on computer) and stamped another sentiment with Gina K Stamps.

Purple and Poppies

Hello!  I have been playing with some digital images that I received from Crafty Secrets.... I just love their flower images....and chose a Poppy image and sentiment for my design.  I used both the sketch and photo inspiration from Fusion shown below.  The image was colored with Copics and some Glaze Pens and then trimmed with an Oval die.  I placed this on a scalloped oval of Purple CS which I also used as the Card Base. The background of a soft ivory paper was embossed with CB EF Kassie's Brocade.  I finished with a Mini Fanciful Flourish cut with Cheery Lynn die and the printed sentiment cut with a Spellbinders die .  Love how this card "pops" out.
