The Colors of Mardi Gras

Welcome to my studio! Today I had fun creating this card with a Mardi Gras theme. I used a clipart that I have in a file on my computer. I added the words with Photoshop and printed out the image on white card stock. Love that fanciful font. I enhanced the image with Gold Embossing on the mask and the holding stick and used Wink of Stella on the mask for more sparkle. After trimming the image, I inked the edges with a Pilot Metallic Gold Marker. I then embossed this with Cuttlebug Diamond Plate EF.  I assembled the card with a Green Card Base and a mat of Purple CS which I thought were appropriate colors for the theme. I purposedly place the mat at an angle....thought it added a bit of a jovial touch.  Finished with thin silk ribbons of Lavender, Gold, and Green on the mask. Thought that picked up on the printed ribbon dangling from the mask.

Cupcake for You

Hello! Today I am serving cupcakes for the challenge at Fusion.  I used a Cupcake Template freebie from Stamp TV.  I printed the cupcake and icing on pattern paper and yellow CS, fussy cut and attached to an embossed oval of white CD. I used a Polka Dot pattern paper as background and a Cameo Cut Birthday sentiment attached to a Yellow Grosgrain ribbon all assembled on a White Card Base. The Birthday EF is Cuttlebug.

Hearts for CASE this Sketch

Hello!  Finally I have a holiday card other than a Christmas one.  Since it is almost February....were did January go???...I should give some time to Valentines.  I actually used some leftover hearts and red CS Scrap from other projects on this CAS card. I simply added a strip of Red CS embossed with Cuttlebug Divine Swirls to the top edge of a White Card Base and attached 2 small White Hearts with pop up dots and one larger Red Scalloped Heart edged with white (on upper edge).  The sentiment from Flourishes Love Sweet Love set was inked with Memento Lady Bug.  Actually the reds all match IRL but not so much in the photo.

Birthday Cake

Hello!  I made this CAS card using a brass stencil that I bought many years ago at a garage sale.  I used Distress inks with the stencil to create the image on a White Cardstock and them embossed around it with Cuttlebug EF Happy Birthday.  I should have done the embossing first and centered the image better but c'est la vie.  The pink from the backdrop reflected on the card in the photo but it is white.

Golden Christmas

Welcome!  My card today is "Golden".   I made the background by embossing a section of  Navy CS with Gold EP and Versamark and then embossed it with Cuttlebug EF Victoria.  This was then sanded to reveal the design.   I gold embossed the sentiment from GKD Festive frame on Ivory CS and matted on Navy.  I consider this to be a CAS card because it was quick and easy unless there are too many layers to classify as CAS.

Bittersweet Wreath

Second Post Today:
Hello!  Sometimes I get stuck on a stamp set and have to make several cards with the set.   Here I have another wreath card using the Bittersweet Wreath from Flourishes Wreaths of All Seasons.  I stamped the wreath on Ivory CS with Memento Rich Cocoa and colored the berries with Memento Red marker.  This looks like a quick card but it took awhile to color the berries. Then I decided to recolor with a Red Glaze pen to give some texture which you cannot see in the photo but it did make a difference. Since I thought this card could be for Thanksgiving or Christmas, I decided to make it a Thinking of You card that  I could use for either occasion. I stamped the sentiment from Avery Elle with Memento Rhubarb Stalk and added a row of embossing with Cuttlebug EF Pop Culture border. Card base of Ivory was layered with a Brown Wood Grain Pattern from Fancy Pants pad and a mat of Red CS from scraps.  Finished with a small Check Bow for a homespun look.  I really like the somewhat rustic look of my card.

Another CAS for Cat

Hello! I have another CAS Card that is very simply made with 2 stamps from GKD Always Autumn set by Theresa Momber stamped on GKD Ivory CS.  I used Memento Rich Cocoa ink for the sentiment and Tangelo Ink for the leaf which I colored with Pencils and OMS.  I also added glossy accents to the leaf.  I embossed a section of the Ivory CS with Cuttlebug Divine Swirls and added a Leafy Ribbon, GKD Gold Cord, and some Dew Drops to finish.  I used a  Pumpkin Spice Card base.

 I made this for Cat's  Stamp TV Mix it Up Monday Challenge to keep it simple and make a CAS card.

Birthday Butterflies

 

Welcome!  I hope everyone had a great weekend!  I love Monarch butterflies and it is a thrill to see them in the garden.  I attempted to make these Butterflies look like Monarchs by using Cheery Lynn dies and cutting butterflies out of Black CS and the matching angel wings of Orange CS.  I colored spots with White Gel , Orange Gelly Roll, Yellow Glaze, Orange Glaze, and Clearstar Pens .  The yellow markings do not show that well.....all looks orange.  But I think they look good enough to be Monarchs. I made my background by embossing a very light gray CS with Cuttlebug EF Leafy Branch and inked the raised areas with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink.  I then cut a Cheery Lynn Fanciful Flourish out of Green CS and attached that loosely to the  background that I created.  I attached the flying "Monarchs" with glue dots  and added some Orange Dew Drops.  I attached this to a dotted pattern paper from Echo Parks Apothecary Emporium pad and a card base of Orange CS. The birthday sentiment from Winnie & Walter was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I really like the results of this card.

Love from the Sea

Hello!  For the Mod Squad challenge this week we are to use brown and blue and one neutral.   When I made the card, I forgot to use a neutral so I redid the card by stamping the sentiment on an ivory CS.  You can see the original card below on the right.  This design was inspired by the brown and blue ribbon in my stash that I have never used.

Bouquet of Flowers

Hello and welcome! The last few days have been spent working in the gardens....spreading mulch in the beds.  It's not my favorite way spending time but it is so worth it when it's all done.
This is a card that I enjoyed making as I love flowers and coloring.  I have had this Joanna Sheen stamp for some time and it was so much fun to color with Copics trying to match colors in the challenge graphic below.   I just framed the image with a layer of the embossed green cardstock cutting the oval with a die. Added some twine with the tag and placed on the pink card base.

One Layer Cards with Thanks

 I did not plan another post today but the deadline for the Less Is More Week 145 challenge is approaching  and I did want to do a couple of entries for their One Layer Thank You card challenge.
For the first card, I simply used 2 embossing folders, one a floral border and one a small Thanks EF.   I embossed the 2 on White Cardstock and then highlighted  the raised areas with Memento Rich Cocoa, Bamboo Leaves, and Peanut brittle inks.  The EF's were Sizzix for the text and Cuttlebug for the Border.

 

I used a Sizzix EF for this second one layer card by embossing the front of the card of Green Cor'dinations Paper and then sanding to reveal the embossing. Easy Peasy!

Snow Season is Here

 

The first snow of the season fell yesterday and covered the ground and trees with winter white.  I spent some time  inside making some challenge cards.  For this one I used a Heartfelt Creations Sweet Memories stamp on white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and embossed with Cuttlebug EF Divine Swirl.  I like the way the swirls in the embossing  compliment the sentiment.  I used a corner punch on 2 corners and wrapped the top layer with some old black and white check ribbon.  I attached to a mat of black and to a card base of white.

One More Christmas Card

I have another card for Joan's Gardens Challenge to use gold and white, an embossing folder, pearls and a product sold at Joan's Gardens.  I started with card base of white CS to which I attached a mat of gold metallic CS. I layered this with white CS embossed with Cuttlebug EF Snowflakes. I cut 2 snowflakes with Cheery Lynn Die Snowflakes 3 -one in white and one in gold. I layered these together with glue dots and a cut ring of gold and a pearl.  I added a sentiment that I cut from Heartfelt Creations Christmas Card Collection pad that I purchased from Joan's Gardens. Added a gold edge and pearls to the sentiment to finish.  Cheery Lynn dies are also availble at Joan's.

Roses Make a Point!

Hello!  Today I am posting a card made with Flourishes stamps for the challenge at Timeless Tuesday to use dots to color your background and/or part of your image. I had colored a background of white Cardstock with multi color dots but decided it was way too busy with my image so nixed that idea. I stamped the Rose from A Year of Flowers  with Memento Espresso Truffle ink on white cardstock and colored the petals  with dots of Copics R20,81,83,85 and the leaves with G40,82, and YG 03.  Need a bit of practice with this technique of pointillism.  I used a sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches to assemble my card design with a white card base, layered with a mat of green, a layer MME's paper embossed with Cuttlebug EF Polka Dots, and a die cut layer of textured green cardstock under the image. Used a corner punch on the corners of the green mat.  Added 3  Prima roses of varying shades of pink and 3 pearls to embellish. I was trying to pick up on the colors of the pink "points" in the rose. Sentiment from Flourishes Timelines was stamped with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink on an oval cut with Spellbinders die and outlined with Memento Marker.

White on White

I hope you can see all the details on my white on white card....this is a hard one to photograph under the current light conditions.  I used GKD white cardstock for all layers beginning with the card base.  The next layer was embossed with Cuttlebug EF Victoria. I then layered elements cut with an unknown Lacey Oval Die, Cheery Lynn Olive Branch die, Cheery Lynn Exotic Butterfly #2 small Die. I added some Flowers by Jolee from my stash and three pearls. A white satin ribbon and bow were also added.  The Sentiment from Flourishes Stamps was stamped with Memento Gray Flannel ink which is a bit softer than black ink.

From the Heart

Second post today.....trying to catch up with some challenges.
The challenge at Cheery Lynn- to use lace- inspired me to create a Valentine's Card.  I knew I wanted to use Cheery Lynn Fanciful Flourish Die...one of my most favorite dies. I cut the die twice from some white iridescent card stock. I found some red lace in my lace box that I have had forever from a challenge prize.  Trying to use up some of my stash. I cut 3 scalloped hearts using Nesties and GKD red card stock and layered with pop up dots. I used a white card base , then a layer of the red card stock, topped with an embossed textured white card stock using Cuttlebug EF Victoria...gives a romantic feel.  I edged this layer with the lovely red lace and arranged the flourishes and the stack of hearts. I finished with a banner stamped with Flourishes " From the Heart" that I free  cut. I may add some pearls to the heart but leaving card as is for this post.

Snow is on my mind since that is what I see when looking out the window. There are so many cute snowmen stamps and some of my fave ones are from Sassy Cheryl.  I just knew I had to play in her latest challenge to use a snowman and I used a great sketch from Sweet Sunday.

Snowflakes for CAS Card

 I did not know how hard it would be to photograph an all white card and using a blue background probably was not a good thing as it made the white look blue. This is not the best photo but it will have to do. I made this card to enter in a few challenges.  Used 3 types of white cs...glossy, iridescent, and a textured one for the base card but none of that shows. I embossed glossy CS with Cuttlebug EF Snowflakes. Cut 3 snowflakes with Cheery Lynn #3 snowflake die but trimmed edges to appear as different shapes. Popped these up with foam dots. Added white grosgrain ribbons strips for additional texture. I embossed one with Cuttlebug EF Border "With Love".  Added liquid pearls to embossed design for sparkle and texture.

Not Just a Kitty Cat!

The Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge 101 this week is suggested by Linda and it is to " Make a square card".  For my card I used a favorite MFP's set "Big Cats".  I stamped the tiger with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with pencils. I started using Copics but switched to pencils to get the shading that I wanted. I used glaze pens on the eyes and mouth to get some shine.  Love working with this animal stamp. Fun to color!

Cover a Post A Note Challenge

This is a quick project that I did for Joan's Gardens Weekly Challenge #12. We are required to:
■ Cover a Post A Note
■Use some kind of Die Cut for a background
■Purple is this week's color
■Use a butterfly or something from nature

I made my cover from green textured CS 3.5" X 7.5" and added a top cut with Spellbinders Label 1 that I embossed with Cuttlebug EF "Birds in the Hand". Added 3 Butterflies cut from Purple CS with Cheery Lynn Dies.  Cut white CS with a smaller Labels 1die and stamped with a Gina K Designs stamp from Fanciful Tags using Memento Sweet Plum ink. On inside of the cover I embossed a row of dots on outside edge for a finish.
A simple but useful project. Thanks to Joan and Selma for another neat idea.
