Elephants Don't Forget

Hello!  I am sharing a CAS card that I made for the AAA Cards sketch challenge + a optional twist animals.  I found a patterned paper in my scraps that reminded me of a scene on the Serengeti so I started with a strip of that paper. I stamped an elephant from the GKD Wild About You set on Gray CS with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Fussy cut the elephant and attached to the patterned strip.  Added some ink to the tusks and ears and stamped a sentiment from the same set.  Assembled the card with Ivory card base and mat. Was pleased with out this turned out.

Sundown on the Safari

Hello!  Taking time out from holiday cards to play with Distress Oxide inks to create a scene with Elephants.  I stamped Trees and Elephants from old Mark's Finest Papers sets with black ink and heat embossed with Clear EP.  I then sponged the background with Distress Oxide inks using  masking for the setting sun, etc.  and added shadows and highlights with Pencils. Sentiments from the same stamp set.  Used a Yellow Card Base with ink distressing on the edge.

Googly Eyes

Hello! I have been playing with some google eyes and a Origami dog that I printed from this website http://www.heatherlynneshida.com/origami/PRINTABLES/choosedog.html .

The dog  made a quick focus for my CAS card.  I will be using this dog again but may use cardstocks to cut the design.  For the card, I used a Black card base and a layer of White that I embossed with EF Diamond Plate.  The MFP stamp was inked with Versafine Onyx Black.  Finished with the google eyes and a bit of Glossy Accents on the nose.

First Day of Spring

Hello!  Today is the first day of spring!!  I love gardening especially in the spring.  This is a cute little dog on my card but I better not find him digging up my daffodils and tulips!  But he seems to know that it is spring! I have used digital stamps by From the Heart "Digging Dog" set which is the stamp of the month.  If you enter From the Heart stamp of the month's challenge, you will receive next month’s digi free. Check here for details.  I used a sketch from Tuesday Morning Challenge for my design.

Doe and Fawn in the Forest

I have a quick and easy card today....yes this image is an easy one to color. I stamped the White Tail Doe and Fawn from Repeat Impressions on ivory CS and colored with Copics  and placed on a mat of Dark Brown and then a textured cardstock pattern from DCWV Safari Chic Mat.  My design came from the sketch from Sketch Saturday Challenge.  I really like the combo of this Pattern Paper and the image.  I could not decide on a sentiment so my DH selected this one from Creative Clear stamps that I heat embossed with Zing Chestnut EP.  He said the deer looked as if they were waiting for someone.

Happy Birthday for the Man in My Life

Recently I viewed a video by Melanie using the Inspiration Mosaic Frame Stamp  and I thought that would be a great stamp to create a Masculine Birthday card for Mod Squad Challenge .  I spent a lot of time trying to get the frame embossed...the powder did not seem to adhere with heat.  I finally figured my Versamark Pad needed re-inking.   I finally decided to use watercolor paper to better color the panels on the stamped frame.  After stamping images in the blocks, I water colored 4 of the blocks.  I liked the distressed looks of the panels....almost looks like old wood in the 2 darker ones and a sunset in the sentiment panel. Finished with some metal embellishments that are always good for a masculine feel.

A Tower of Giraffes

Hello! Back for another post of another  CAS Card. I had been trying to come up with an idea for the Challenge at CAS-ology for the cue card RUN and remembered a stamp of running giraffes.  I stamped the pair of giraffes 4 times to create a Tower ...yes, that is what a group of giraffes is called.   I used a printed cardstock from DCWV Safari Chic Matstack  to create the scene of running giraffes with an African tree and sentiment all stamped in GKD Black Onyx ink.  I placed on a card base of DCWV Black. I hope this qualifies as a CAS card --I think I left enough blank space.

Animal Magic

Back today for another quick post and Christmas card.  The theme for the challenge at Cute Card Thursday is Animal Magic.  I thought of this magical gathering of animals at the Nativity scene in this image from Heartfelt Creations Christmas Card Collection. I cut the panel from the set, added some velvet ribbon with gold edging, some glitter with a Clear-Star Pen and a rhinestone, and placed on a card base of glossy Oyster Pearl Cardstock from my stash. Adhered the sentiment from the same  collection with pop up dots. I enjoy all your comments.  I have finished about 40 cards made with this Heartfelt collection that I will be giving to my Mother for her to send to family and friends.  I will be posting more of them in the future.

Cold Winter Night

 

My post today is my entry for three challenges including Craft A Scene whose theme for the month of September is "Dusk to Dawn".    I am not too experienced in doing skies but I knew I should have a sky to show dusk to dawn with maybe a moon.  I decided to create a cold wintry scene because hills with snow would be simple enough to create foreground and background with feeling of dimension. I first stamped the trees and deer in Memento Tuxedo black ink on white cardstock and then using the masking technique, I colored the sky by sponging Memento Summer Sky, Nautica Blue, and Paris Dusk inks to create a cold blustery look using a circle cut out to mask a moon which I sponged lightly with Memento Cantaloupe ink.  I created the hills with torn curved pieces of paper  and used for masking the hills that I sponged lightly with the blue inks.  I added snowflakes falling in the sky with a white gel pen.  I matted the image on a metallic silver cardstock which did not photograph very well and adhered to a card base of dark blue cardstock.  The tree and deer stamps are from GKD "The Northwoods" and "Life is Good".  The sentiment is from Flourishes and also stamped in Tuxedo Black ink.

White-tail Deer Passing by a Covered Bridge

When I saw the month long challenge at Craft a Scene,  I knew exactly what I wanted to do for my entry, but since I have not been in my my studio much the last few weeks, I am running late completing my card. The challenge is to use Realistic Forest Animals in a scene.  I stamped the White-Tail Doe and Fawn using a stamp from Repeat Impressions using Memento Espresso Truffle ink on white Cardstock. I masked the image and stamped a covered bridge in the background with a Heartfelt Creations stamp and stamped clouds with another Repeat Impressions Stamp. I colored the image with Copics and Sponged the Sky with Memento Summer Sky ink.  Added more grass across the bottom edge with a marker.  I trimmed the image and attached to a brown mat and then to a dotted digi paper scrap leftover.  This was placed on a my card base of Dark Brown.  This was a fun card to do.

Jacob's 2nd Birthday

Hello!  I have missed everyone while I was spending time with my Mother since I could not get online. I hope to catch up with everyone's blogs and projects and have time to leave some comments.  My Mother seems to be back to good health and back to her normal routine. It is amazing what she does at age 93! We were eating green beans, tomatoes, spinach and zucchini from her garden this past week.

Today I am posting a card that I made for my 2 year old great-nephew for his 2nd birthday last month.  I made this with a pattern from a Paper Crafts Magazine with Birthday Free Projects.  The card is the shape of  an elephant.  I used Gray Card stock, assorted scraps of  Card stock with Glitter, Chipboard Number 2, Black Brad, scraps of yarn, and Nesties Circle Die.  Inside I used text that was computer generated.

Cabin in the Snowy Woods

At Craft a Scene Challenge, the theme this month is Trees, Trees, Trees.  They want us to use at least three trees stamped on our entries.  The entry should have a stamped or digi image in the background and another in the foreground.  For my cabin in the woods card, I used the cabin with trees image and trees in the background with some birds flying by. I added deer in the foreground and extended the walk and placed some snow mounds by drawing those in. In all I used 5 stamps to create the scene.

Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge

Welcome to another Speedy Fox and Friends challenge. This week we are asking you to make a Masculine Birthday Card. To inspire you, I have made a card with a sneak peek of Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co. "Be Wild and Free".  I thought my pattern papers were a great background for the elephants as they traveled across the African plains, maybe to attend a birthday for a man who likes to LIVE life to the fullest.
I used 2 papers tearing the bottom one that looks like tall grass and attaching to the other that looks like a sunset in the Serengeti. Stamped the elephant silhouettes in black, cut out, and attached to the background. Used a dark brown card base.

Friends of Speedy TV Challenge

Father's Day is the challenge at FOSTV this week. I think a Father's Day Card should tell that person how special he is.  My father passed away several years ago but I always have special memories of him at Father's Day and he was a Fabulous Dad.  My card features the Special Lion stamp set from MFP.  I stamped the lion with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on a Tan Card stock from MFP twice and colored the details of the image image with pencils, glaze pen and distress marker. I cut out one of the images and cut only the center of the face of the second  image that I attached to the full image with pop up dots to create a 3D effect. I hope you can see this 3D in the photo.  I stamped a sentiment from the same set on to a pattern paper with Versamark and heat embossed with Copper EP. I cut the letters D-A-D with a Cricut and also heat embossed them with Copper EP and attached them with the Lion to the mat of Pattern Paper. I added the twine with a Lion charm to the mat and attached all to a base card of the Tan CS to finish the project.  I like the effect of the Picket Fence White Distress Marker on the face....it is hard to see until the ink dries but it shows really white on the colored CS.

You Make Me Feel Like Dancing

This card makes me want to sing...."You make me feel like dancing....dancin, dancing...".  Love these little bears dancing from LOTV Teddy Bear Fun Die Cut Designs.  Simple to use since they are already colored.  I picked up colors from her dress to make a monochromatic card in lavendars. I used the sketch from One Stop Craft Challenge. Added some rhinestones reclaimed from trim on an old dress and some pearls on the punched out flowers.

Spring Bunnies Hopping in the Garden

This card will be entered into several challenges including the Sketch Challenge at A La Card Monkey were I was named a Monkey Princess last week. I used this great bunnies stamp from Flourishes "Spring Has Sprung" Set. I colored it this time using pencils and markers...can you believe no Copics used in the making of this card?
I followed the sketch closely using a pastel color theme and adding some embossing and a sentiment from the same set.
