Candle Trio

Hello! This Christmas card was inspired by the current Peace On Earth Christmas Challenge mood board shown below. The picture of the lantern with candles reminded me of a Memory Box Die in my collection so I used it to create this card.  The Gold Panel made with gold metallic CS and glitter gel and a stencil was actually leftover from another project.  It was a perfect fit for the Candle Trio that I die cut several times  and layered and pieced together.

Wishes for a Wonderful Day

Hello!  Doesn't St. Patrick's Day remind you of rainbows and shamrocks?  I guess I was thinking of that when I made this card using a Shamrock cut with my Cameo from GKD Green CS.  I sponged the backdrop with a stencil from My Favorite Things called Radiating Rays using 7 colors of Distress Inks on a white CS panel for a rainbow effect.  I inked the edges with a Pilot Gold Metallic Marker.  I placed the shamrock on a circle of Gold Glitter paper before attaching to the background and then a White card base. Guess the gold represents a Pot of Gold found at the end of the rainbow. I stamped and heat embossed  a GKD  Sentiment, one of my favorites, from Old Country Roses set, on the shamrock.  St. Patrick's Day is always a Wonderful Day, hence the sentiment.

Smiley Card with a Lot of Glitz

Welcome!  I have some happy today...hope to make you smile. This card was a result of playing with GKD Blue Glitz Glitter Gel  that I bought a few months ago but never tried.  Using a Hero Arts stencil from a past monthly kit, I added the glitz to a bright yellow cardstock and trimmed the panel and added to a card base of the same cardstock.  Finished with GKD stamp from You Make Me Smile set and a die cut word Happy stamped and die cut with GKD Tropical Bloom set.  A quick and easy card but it does take a bit for that gel to dry.
Monthly Mix Challenge: Sheri's challenge was Just Add Texture. There is a lot of texture with this gel. This is my 4th entry this month.

Birthday Card with Stencil

Hello! I have been playing with stencil monoprinting to create a card for the challenge at CAS Stencil Challenge. You simply apply inks onto a stencil, spray with water, and lay on a panel of water color paper to create the design. I used a Lace Layering stencil by Tim Holtz with Distress Oxide inks Candied Apple and Peeled Paint.  I trimmed a section of the panel, inked the edges with a Copic marker and added to a card base of White CS.  Finished with Cheery Lynn die cut words to make a Birthday card.

Inky Paper Towel Returns for More Cards

Hello! I appreciate your stopping by!  I have been playing again with Paper Towels, a new technique for me.   I have been inspired by Loll's challenge at CAS Mix Up challenge to use/recycle inky paper towels.   The butterfly was cut with a Cheery Lynn die from some card stock that I transferred ink to from a inky paper towel that I also used on another card.  A section of the actual inky paper towel was cut and layered beneath a white card stock panel with an opening die cut with a Spellbinders circle die. The colors on the towel are Distress Oxide inks  Fired Brick, Fossilized Amber, and Squeezed Lemonade.  I attached the butterfly and  added some die cut flowers from yellow CS ( used Spellbinders Shapeabilities Flower Bundle) to the white panel. Then I stamped a Papers and Such sentiment with Fired Brick ink.  Attached all to a White Card Base.

Sharing one more card made with transferring color from Inky Paper Towel.  Used circle stencil with panel of White CS to create circle of color. (Distress Oxide Inks).  Added die cut of a flower cut with Spellbinders Shapeabilities Flower Bundle.  Sentiment from Penny Black Friendship set stamped with SU ink. . Card base of Green CS from stash.

Butterfly with Stencil

Hello!    I used My Favorite Things Radiating Rays stencil with Memento Summer Sky ink and DOI Tumbled Glass to create a panel that I trimmed with a square die and cut the center out with a circle die.  I attached that using foam pad to Shimmery Yellow Card Base and added a fussy cut butterfly that was in my stash of leftovers.  (Stamped the butterfly with Black Ink and colored with Copics. ) Finished with a GKD sentiment. 

When I showed this to my DH, he thought it needed more so I added a frame of Blue CS to the second version shown below.  I'll let you be the judge to which one you like.

Butterfly with Stenciling

Hello!  For this card, I combined some stenciling, a die cut, and a stamp verse.   I used a GKD Stencil with DOI Faded Jeans on a white CS.  Stamped a sentiment from Paper and Such  with the same ink and then inked the edge with a Gold Metallic marker.  Attached to a white card base and added a Gold Metallic Butterfly die cut with a Cheery Lynn die.

My DH asked if I had enough white space to count as CAS?  Isn't he smart and crafty to know that?

When I compared the DT cards for white space, I think I have enough white space. We'll see, I guess.  Maybe I should have used another sentiment.

Shining with a Stencil

Hello! I thought this CAS card would be appropriate for some challenges on my list this week.   I used a stencil from My Favorite Things to create sun beams with Yellow ink. I used some stamps from my older Gina K stamps.  Stamped the image and sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Primroses and Stripes

Hello!  This card was inspired by the primroses and stripes on the saucer in the Just Us Girls Photo challenge shown below.  I used a old 2010 Flourishes stamp of Primroses designed by Marcella Hawley that I stamped on white CS with Memento Inks and colored with Copics.  I cut the flower with a die that I recently received in a Blog Candy. I created the background on a shimmery pink CS using  My Favorite Things Radiating Rays stencil, versamark, and gold EP.  I decided not to use a sentiment on the front.

Love You More

Hello! I have another card that I made with the August Hero Arts kit using the stencil of Moon and Stars with several of the Stamps.  I ended up using only 2 colors for the design.  I used the Stencil with Distress Oxide ink Faded Jeans on Yellow CS.  I trimmed this to fit on a card base of the same Yellow CS.  I stamped Stars, Sentiment and more with the same ink on a smaller panel of the Yellow CS  (misted this with Gold Shimmer mist) and attached off center on the stenciled layer.

Stencilling with Die Cuts

Hello!  The Memory Box challenge this month is to use Stencils and you must use a Memory Box stamp or die on your project.   I decided to use the Darling Poppies and Pippi Butterfly dies to cut stencils from heavy cardstock.   I sponged  Memento Cottage Ivy, Lady Bug and Tuxedo Black inks using my cut stencils with masking to create my design on White CS.   For the butterfly, I used only half of the cut image that I sponged with black ink.  Then I used the detail cut out and sponged the wing with Versamark and heat embossed with Gold EP.  I drew in the body with a black pen.
I stamped the Gina K Design sentiment with the green ink.  I also inked the edge of the image layer with Pilot Metallic Gold marker before attaching to the textured green card base.   I love the look of using the die cuts as stencils.

Birthday Cake

Hello!  I made this CAS card using a brass stencil that I bought many years ago at a garage sale.  I used Distress inks with the stencil to create the image on a White Cardstock and them embossed around it with Cuttlebug EF Happy Birthday.  I should have done the embossing first and centered the image better but c'est la vie.  The pink from the backdrop reflected on the card in the photo but it is white.

Giraffe sends Get Well Wishes.

This is my entry for the challenge at Addicted to CAS for the code word Stencil.  My card was made with a stencil that reminded me of the spots of a Giraffe.  After brushing brown ink on white CS  using the stencil,  I stamped the Giraffe stamp and sentiment with a darker ink.  Used Marvy inks. Sorry I do not have the source of the stamps.  Giraffe was colored with pencils. Card base is brown CS. I made this card at my last Stamp club meeting.  Love the comical look of the Giraffe.

Tropical Sunset Found on My Desk

If you have been on my blog this week, you know I have been having fun with Distress Inks at Winnie & Walter's Blog.   Day 4 is featuring Tim Holtz Distress Inks  using Stencils/Masks.  Check out the details here.  I found this challenge easier to make a card for than anticipated.  I had some leftovers on my desk from an earlier challenge (posted here)  using  Distress Inks.  As I was looking over some of my previous attempts to make backgrounds on watercolor paper, I decided this colored paper, when turned just right, looked like a tropical sunset and I came up with the idea of using a Palm Tree stencil to make this project.  I used DI Peeled Paint, Vintage Photo, and Brushed Corduroy to color in the tree and Vintage Photo for the Hello from Winnie & Walter's The Big, The Bold, and The Happy stamp set. I trimmed the paper and added to a coral card base.  Easy enough!!   Distress inks used on background were Picked Raspberry, Wild Honey, and Barn Door.

 I had forgot all about these old stencils that I had.....came across them on the hunt for something else. Have no earthly idea where they were  originally from.  But I was glad to have found in time for this challenge.

Almost Stumped by Stencil Challenge

One of my favorite weekly challenges  is Joan's Touch challenge and this week it was a very challenging one for me.  We were to
-use a stencil (Option was to use shadow technique)
-combine 2 Patterns of Papers
-make a card, a book, a note.....
-use a product sold at Joan's Gardens

The difficult part was to use a stencil...I only own 3 stencils which were bought at garage sales.  Finally I came up with a plan to make a card for  Joan's Touch Challenge using a Birthday Cake brass stencil (50 cents at the garage sale) with papers from Heartfelt Creations Classic Editions Collection purchased at Joan's Gardens.  I laid the stencil on a panel cut from the collection and colored in the stencil with markers and gold metallic pen.  I did not try the shadow technique. Using a double sided  pattern paper for the card base, I attached the image with a mat and a strip of another pattern  to the front of the card.  I used a clear epoxy sticker from Cloud Designs to create a Birthday Card.   I finished the inside with another panel stamped with a verse from Creative Vision Stamps using Memento Rich Cocoa ink.  The pattern paper shows up really well in the bottom photo of the inside of the card.
