Sundown on the Safari

Hello!  Taking time out from holiday cards to play with Distress Oxide inks to create a scene with Elephants.  I stamped Trees and Elephants from old Mark's Finest Papers sets with black ink and heat embossed with Clear EP.  I then sponged the background with Distress Oxide inks using  masking for the setting sun, etc.  and added shadows and highlights with Pencils. Sentiments from the same stamp set.  Used a Yellow Card Base with ink distressing on the edge.

Happy Hibiscus

Hello!  I really like this Happy Hibiscus card! The card was made with a Print and Cut file from Silhouette Studio that I printed and cut with my Cameo.  Attached the flower with foam tape to a background inked with Distress Oxide inks Fossilized   Amber and Spiced Marmalade and then a card base of Coral CS.  Added a stamen with Metallic pen and stamped a Power Poppy sentiment with Versamrk and heat embossed with Gold EP. Misted the background and flower with Gold Shimmer Mist.  Shows better in real life than in photo.
(Actually the background layer was a byproduct of making another background....just used the remaining inks from my craft mat with a white CS. )

Catch a Falling Star

Hello!  Playing again with August Hero Arts kit.  I made a galaxy sky background with Distress Oxide inks Faded Jeans, Fossilized Amber, and Wilted Violet on White CS. I used dies to cut the silhouette of the boy on the moon fishing from Black CS and the star from CS inked with Fossilized Amber ink. Sprayed them both with Gold Shimmer Mist from kit. Stamped the sentiment with black ink and embossed with Clear EP. Assembled all on Yellow CS. Used stamp for fishing pole.

Fall Thanks

 

 

Hello! I have another post today...trying to catch up on some challenges after being sick with a cold for several days.   This one is a fall theme made with older Gina K stamps from A Year of Leaves and Signs of Autumn sets.  Using the sketch from Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #62,  I made the background with Memento Peanut Brittle ink on white CS and a Leaf Stem stamp. The focal image of the Maple Leaf was heat embossed with Copper EP and sponged and blended with Distress Inks Wild Honey, Tea Dye, and Fossilized Amber.  This was cut with a circle die and matted on a circle of Copper Metallic CS and attached to a layer of Honey Mustard CS that was heat embossed with Copper EP  using a GKD Thanks stamp.  This was edged with Copper Metallic CS before assembling all on a card base of Honey Mustard CS.

Ribbon Inspired

Hello!  In my card, I have combined some new stamps and some old ribbon that I am using for the first time.  The fern stamp  is from Gina K's Handmade Botanical set and the sentiment is from Gina K's Scripty Sentiments 2.   The unopened ribbon from Michael's was in my stash...not sure where it came from.  I used Memento Bamboo Leaves ink to create the background on white CS.  I added 2 rows of ribbon along with the sentiment stamped in SU Brilliant Blue ink.  This was placed on a mat of SU Brilliant  Blue CS and a mat of Gina K Grass Green CS and then a card base of White CS.  As you see, I matched up the colors from the ribbon in my design.

Butterfly for a Birthday

Hello!  I was playing with a technique to make my own background paper by pouncing some blue paint on a white CS and then sponged on yellow ink and wiped off.  I trimmed the panel and placed on a navy card base and added a Butterfly cut with Cheery Lynn Exotic Butterfly small #2 die and small #2 Angel wing die cut from Yellow CS. Stamped the sentiment with Memento Navy ink and heat embossed with Clear EP.  This card has a lot of texture.

Happy Birthday in Ombre

Hello! I am back with a third post today.....trying to catch up with some of the past week challenges.  I made this card by creating an Ombre background using Distress inks Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry that I sponged on a panel of water color paper.  I simply die cut the Memory Box English Rose Stem from Green CS and adhered to the Ombre Pattern.  I chose not to fill the open Roses so that the Ombre Color showed through the design.  I stamped the Gina K Designs sentiment with SU Always Artichoke ink and heat embossed with Clear EP.  The card base is the same Green CS used for the flowers.

Thinking of Spring Flowers

Welcome to the studio!   Even though snow is on the way, I am thinking of spring flowers.   I was inspired by the colors of the flowers and the weathered wood of the chair in the graphic below in designing this card.   I began by creating a gray weathered wood background with white cardstock, Memento gray flannel ink, scor-pal, and a woodgrain embossing folder.   I used Technique Tuesday flower stamps from Two Steppin' set with distress inks Spiced Marmalade, Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar, Squeezed Lemonade, Peeled Paint for the image.  I water colored flowers on a panel of water color paper with a water brush and then fussy cut them.  I assembled the card on a Gray Metallic card base and added a sentiment heat embossed on a strip of Vellum.

Pumpkin Card

Hello!  My fall card really looks better in real life than in this photo.  I made this for some of the many fall/ autumn challenges.  I used the sketch from Tuesday morning but rotated to a horizontal layout. I made the background with leaf stamp and distress inks.  I actually added a gold ribbon tied around the strip of ribbon after this photo was taken....will have to add another photo.

Dancing Daffodils

 

 Morning! Are you enjoying spring flowers?  I was inspired by the daffodils blooming in my garden to create this card with Power Poppy Dancing with Daffodils digi stamp. I colored the image with Distress Inks using a watercolor brush. The sentiment was stamped with Power Poppy stamp from Lavender set.  I made the background with White CS embossed with Cuttlebug  EF Gingham and inked the raised areas with Memento Summer Sky.  The Card base and mat is GKD Sage CS.
Distress inks used are Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalade, Stormy Sky, Peeled Paint, Forest Moss, and Brushed Corduroy.

Inspiration from a Photo

Welcome! Today I have a card inspired by the photo challenge at The House That Stamps Built shown on right. To create this card I used watercolor paper and distress inks to make the background and vellum for the Hot Air balloons.

Birthday in Pink and Green

For the new release at GKD, Gina is having a Challenge to make a card using your own background paper made using stamps and ink! I made a background with two GKD stamps and Memento inks on white CS.  I cut it to size and layered on Green CS adding a Polka Dot ribbon and a layered Sentiment with bling.  I used one of my favorite color combos.

Birthday Butterflies

 

Welcome!  I hope everyone had a great weekend!  I love Monarch butterflies and it is a thrill to see them in the garden.  I attempted to make these Butterflies look like Monarchs by using Cheery Lynn dies and cutting butterflies out of Black CS and the matching angel wings of Orange CS.  I colored spots with White Gel , Orange Gelly Roll, Yellow Glaze, Orange Glaze, and Clearstar Pens .  The yellow markings do not show that well.....all looks orange.  But I think they look good enough to be Monarchs. I made my background by embossing a very light gray CS with Cuttlebug EF Leafy Branch and inked the raised areas with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink.  I then cut a Cheery Lynn Fanciful Flourish out of Green CS and attached that loosely to the  background that I created.  I attached the flying "Monarchs" with glue dots  and added some Orange Dew Drops.  I attached this to a dotted pattern paper from Echo Parks Apothecary Emporium pad and a card base of Orange CS. The birthday sentiment from Winnie & Walter was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I really like the results of this card.

Make Your Own Background with Stamps

Hello! This card was made for a challenge to make your own background with stamps and I tied in some other elements from other challenges.  To make my background, I stamped a GKD flower design all over  pink cardstock with Versamark  and gold embossed.  After trimming this paper, I attached to the gold card base and attached the prepared  image and sentiment that were stamped on white CS and also gold embossed.  I edged the cut image and sentiment with Versamark ink and also embossed with gold EP since my Gold pen that I use for edges has dried up.  This was a fairly quick and easy card. The color of the flowers and paper match better in real life.  I always have trouble capturing the true color of pinks and also yellows in photos for posting.
