Card with a Tag

Hello!  I made this Christmas card with a tag that I attached to an embossed panel. With a few changes, I recreated the tag design in the same way (see post here from 2019) that I had made earlier with Gina K Designs stamps and dies and a Basket Weave stamp from Just for Fun stamps.  Had all the stamps since 2018/2019.   Used a bit of ribbon, twine and even a smaller tag on the tag. I embossed and inked a white panel with Darice EF Pine Branches before attaching the tag.  Finished with a card base of Fresh Asparagus CS and more GKD sentiments.

Wishes for a Wonderful Day

Hello!  Doesn't St. Patrick's Day remind you of rainbows and shamrocks?  I guess I was thinking of that when I made this card using a Shamrock cut with my Cameo from GKD Green CS.  I sponged the backdrop with a stencil from My Favorite Things called Radiating Rays using 7 colors of Distress Inks on a white CS panel for a rainbow effect.  I inked the edges with a Pilot Gold Metallic Marker.  I placed the shamrock on a circle of Gold Glitter paper before attaching to the background and then a White card base. Guess the gold represents a Pot of Gold found at the end of the rainbow. I stamped and heat embossed  a GKD  Sentiment, one of my favorites, from Old Country Roses set, on the shamrock.  St. Patrick's Day is always a Wonderful Day, hence the sentiment.

Birthday Balloons

Hello!  It's been raining so much....good time for crafting.  I created this birthday card with an embossing folder Balloons from Darice.  I simply embossed the balloons on heavy weight White CS and inked them with Distress inks Peacock Feathers, Squeezed Lemonade, and Spun Sugar. I stamped a GKD sentiment with 2 of the inks. Colored the strings with a Copic marker.  Quick and easy ….colorful card!

Whimsical Flowers

Hello!  I've decided to try and make more than one card at a time since it is easy to do once you have stamps and supplies out.  I have used Gina K Design stamps and a die from Whimsical Wildflowers for these cards using partial die cutting and water coloring on both designs. I stamped the floral image twice on watercolor paper and heat embossed one with gold EP and one with white EP.  I water colored each with DOI Picked Raspberry and DI Forest Moss using a water brush. I used the GKD Die to partially cut the image.  The top card was finished by placing the cut portion on top of a Pattern Paper that I created with GKD Background Stamp Petite Flourish using GKD Fresh Asparagus ink on white CS.  Finished this one with a card base of GKD Fresh Asparagus CS and a Gold Embossed GKD sentiment. . 

I kept the second card clean and simple by simply adding the partially cut image to a card base of Yellow CS and stamping the GKD sentiment with Distress Ink Forest Moss.  I found it hard to water color this image since it was embossed with white EP but I just tried to follow the lines by looking at the first card that I colored first

Happy Fall to Y'all

Hello! Yesterday was the first day of fall and the leaves are already falling even before they change colors.  I created the background for this card using leaves from my yard (actually did this a few years ago).  I placed the leaves on a printer and scanned them to a file on my computer....sort of created my own digital patterned paper.  Took a few trials before I got them arranged to my liking.  To make my card I just printed the leaves on a white card stock. Trimmed the image and attached it to a layer of Yellow CS inked with a wine Copics.  I used a card base of Gold Yellow CS.  For the focus of my card, I stamped a sentiment from Gina K Designs A Year of Leaves (2009) set with Distress Ink Aged Mahogany on a panel of the Gold CS  and distressed the edges with the same ink.

In The Wild

Hello!  My card today is a bit more "artsy" than my usual cards.  I was inspired by Simon Monday Challenge to walk on the wild side.  I decided to combine Wild Animals with what I'd call wild and bright colors for a safari scene.   I pulled out a panel from my "save box" that was the result of playing with making watercolor backgrounds with Distress Inks.  I am not sure of the exact colors that I used.  I had smeared inks on an acrylic block, sprayed with water and then laid watercolor paper on the block.  You never know what the results might be.  I then used some old stamps from 3 different Mark's Finest Paper sets and stamped the images and sentiment with black ink on  the panel.  Finished with a gold card base.

Butterfly Flutters on Two Cards

Hello!  I have been playing with a Butterfly stamp from the Take Flight set by Gina K Designs to create 2 different cards.  For the one above,  I stamped the butterfly image twice with Versafine Onyx Black ink using a mask on white cardstock. The GKD sentiment (Northwoods set) was stamped with the same ink but I heat embossed it with Clear EP.  Adhered the image to a Black Mat and a White card base.

For the second card, I created a background using a Lace Layering Stencil by Tim Holtz.  I used 7 inks in rainbow colors with the stencil on white cardstock.  I trimmed the panel and added to a panel of black cardstock and attached to a card base of GKD Wild Dandelion CS.  I stamped the same  butterfly used on the card above on to the Wild Dandelion CS with Black ink and heat embossed with Clear EP and then fuss cut .  I attached the Butterfly to the rainbow panel and stamped a sentiment from the Take Flight set by GKD.

Butterfly with Tissue Paper Background

Hello! Some days a card is easier to make than others.  I found this card came together easy once I decided to use a large Butterfly stamp from  Repeat Impressions.  I decided to create the background with tissue paper using a watercoloring method.  I used Distress Inks Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber, and Squeezed Lemonade to watercolor the tissue paper which I scrunched up and glued to a panel of White CS.  I stamped the Repeat Impressions sentiment with Memento Tuxedo black directly to the tissue paper layer.  I stamped the Butterfly with same black ink and colored with Memento Markers and fussy cut.  Assembled the card with an orange card base following a sketch from the challenge below and added some dew drops and a ring around the butterfly.

Bluebird of Love

Welcome!  Summer nears an end with August already here.  For this card, I stamped GKD stamps from Birds and Blossoms set on water color paper with Memento Espresso Truffle ink.  I water colored the images with Distress Oxide inks Faded Jean, Broken China, Fossilized Amber, Peeled Paint, Spiced Marmalade, Walnut Stain, and Vintage Photo, and Distress Ink Forest Moss. I used a picture of a Bluebird as a guide for coloring.  After coloring, I did stamp the bird and stump a second time (using the Misti) with Espresso Truffle ink to bring out some of the details. Decided to keep the background clean to focus on the bird.  Added a Brown brad to accent the sentiment Used GKD Powder Blue CS as the base.

Growing Love and Flowers

Hello! Another CAS card using another older stamp. This time I used Penny Black Friendship Flowers set . I stamped the cart and sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored the image with Distress Barn Door and Forest Moss inks,  Distress Oxide Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo inks, Copic grays, and Silver Metallic pen. Inked the edges of the white panel with Barn Door ink  and added a couple dots of Berry Red Nuvo Crystal.  Card base is GKD Fresh Asparagus CS.

Summer Time Fun

Hello!  I was inspired by the Inspiration Palette Challenge J1917 shown below from The House That Stamps Built in making this card.  I created my background with Broken China Distress ink on a panel of watercolor paper.  I stamped Repeat Impressions stamp Kayaker on clear velum with Versamark and heat embossed with Clear EP.  I colored the image with Copics using colors from the inspiration photo and then trimmed it.  I attached this to the background with Stick It Adhesive.  Love how the Kayaker merges into the "water".  Finished with a Repeat Impressions sentiment stamped in Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink and a Kraft card base. I think I captured all the colors in the inspiration.

Over The Rainbow Happy

Today I have 2 cards which are very similar but different.  I used the same Repeat Impressions stamps (had since Jan 2016) and the same Distress Ink colors on both but used Neenah  CS on the top card and watercolor paper on the bottom one for the panels.  I also used different layouts and base cards.  I used an acrylic block to smear the colors, sprayed with water and laid the papers on the block to blend the colors.  I think I used Distress Inks Barn Door, Dried Marigold, Squeezed Lemonade, Peeled Paint, Tumbled Glass, and Wilted Violet.  The words were stamped with Versafine Black Onyx.

Summer Time Colors

Welcome! I have another card made with Block Watercoloring Stamping.  I used Distress Inks Fossilized Amber, Dried Marigold, and Abandoned Coral  with Watercolor paper to create the background.  I stamped Hero Arts' stamps from Summer Flowers and heat embossed with White EP. Tore the edges before attaching to a Coral Mat and Bright Yellow card base.  Finished with a Double bow of White Satin ribbon.

Covered Bridge Drive

Do you have memories of beautiful summer days driving through country roads and covered bridges?  What great times they would be ....carefree and lazy....without a worry in the world.  This scene reminds of one of those times.  I stamped the image with Repeat Impressions Covered Bridge stamp using a light brown ink on watercolor paper and water colored with distress inks using a water brush.  I won't go in to all the details of how I did the coloring but I did do repeated stampings using the Misti throughout the process.  I colored this panel a few weeks ago after studying some water color techniques online and it has been on my desk waiting for further attention.  I finally decided to simply trim the panel and adhere to a mat of Khaki CS and a base of GKD Green CS. Stamped a portion of a Repeat Impression sentiment with Memento Rich Cocoa ink to finish as a card.

Happy Memories

Hello! My card today was inspired by the Photo/Color Inspiration challenge at The House That Stamps Built. I created my background on watercolor paper using Distress Inks and a Water brush. Using Repeat Impressions stamps I added the sentiment with SU ink. This panel was attached to patterned paper and the an Ivory Card Base. I was trying to achieve a look of a tropical sunset that brings back Happy Memories (inspired by the photo).

Birthday Wishes

Hello! My card today is made with the Emboss Resist technique.  I stamped a flower image from GKD A Year of Flowers 2 three times with Versamark and embossed with Clear EP.  I sponged the images with DI Abandoned Coral, Dried Marigold, Fossilized Amber, and  Squeezed Lemonade. I trimmed the panel and layered this with white CS and place on a Shimmering Pink CS and heat embossed a GKD Sentiment from Wild Flowers with Wow Yellow EP.

Love From the Heart

Welcome!  I was inspired to make this card after watching a Jennifer McGuire video about Distress Ink resist embossing.  I made this card with some old Flourishes stamps From the Heart and Cherry Blossoms (Marcella Hawley).  I stamped the Cherry Blossoms with Versamark and embossed with clear EP on white CS (not the usual Glossy) and sponged with several Distress Inks. I Case'd her "lopsided" (her words) design using white CS cut at an angle and stamped the sentiments with Distress Inks. I even added some Nuvo drops like she did. My addition was die cutting a heart in this layer and adding a smaller die cut heart. I used a Pink Card base to finish.

Snowfall

Welcome!  I am staying with a Cold theme in today's card.  I stamped Repeat Impressions' Pine Forest on a Water Color panel with Distress Inks and used a water brush to color in details and sky. I used a Flourishes sentiment with another Distress Ink and added snow fall with pearl drops.   I wanted my scene to reflect a snowfall that was just beginning. I die cut the image and placed on a card base embossed with a Darice Snowflake EF.
