Dimensional Scene

This card is for Joan's Touch challenge to make a card using  layered nested frames of a scene cut with dies. More details on how to use this technique and the challenge are on Joan's Blog  http://www.joanstouch.com/.  While you are visiting take time to subscribe to Joan's new blog which she began after retiring.
For her challenge, Joan is asking us to use a scenery stamp, make a layer as she did (check her blog for details), use any color, and use a product sold at Joan's Gardens.  All Heartfelt Creations Products are from Joan's Gardens. I stamped the scene on a Pattern Paper which adds to the background.  I chose not to color scene except for the bird in the foreground.

Stand Up Card

Hello!  I made this stand up card with one fold for Joan's Touch Challenge.  Her requirements this week are :
Cut one part of an image so it is standing above the card.
Use card stock for color.
Add a sentiment.
Use a product sold at Joan's Gardens.

I began with a yellow cardstock 7.5" X 4.25" that I purchased in a pack from Joan's Garden.  I used the Cameo to partially cut my image ...the easy way to cut ....and then stamped the Dahlias on the cutout using Stamp-a-majig to line up. I added some shading to the Flowers with Copic Markers. I used Flourishes Stamps and Memento  Espresso Truffle and Rich Cocoa inks. Memento inks are sold at Joan's Gardens.
The hardest part of this challenge was limiting my color to the card stock.  I hope I met the requirements. I will be doing another card for this challenge.

You've Got Style

 

Hello!  Today's card is a bit vintage and a different type of fold for me. I created this pop out style for Joan's Touch Challenge #14 and tried to case her cards posted here.  I just cut and folded and taped until I got the look that I wanted....it was a bit of engineering in card making.
Joan required that we:
Use a die as an outline but not required
Use Black on the card
Add embellishments
Use a product sold at Joan's Garden.

Pop Goes the World

 Welcome to my studio!  Today I am showing my card to enter at the first ever challenge from Power Poppy Blog. The challenge is to be inspired by the  photo shown on the left and use at least three out of the four colors highlighted.  Choose from shades of purple or orange or yellow or green in your creation! I used the purple, green and orange. You must also use one of Power Poppy's digital stamps. I have used  Tulips for this card.  I printed the Tulips and colored with Copics of purples and greens  and placed on an orange mat, a layer of embossed green card stock, layer of purple and then a card base of light purple.  I kept the card simple letting the focus be this beautiful image of tulips.

I finished the inside of my card with a Power Poppy verse using Photoshop to color the verse.  I learned how to do this from Julie's great tutorial about using digital stamps here.

Have I Been Missed?

Hello!  I have been away from blogging for a few days but have been busy.  I bought some new storage boxes at Joann's last week which led me to do some cleaning and reorganizing of some supplies.  Then I realized I had so many partially finished cards .....had a lot of fronts without card bases and card kits that I never assembled or card projects that I had started and never finished.  To clean up some clutter,  I decided to spend some time finishing and assembling these projects and send the finished cards to Operation Write Home.  I still have more to do.  I ended up with 55 cards to send including a few that I pulled from my box of completed cards.  I forgot to make a photo of the cards and now they are all in a box sealed and ready to mail.  I am now trying to do some projects to make a dent in all the scraps that I have.....I never, never throw anything away. 

Also, I have been cleaning closets and switching winter items for the spring and summer clothes.  Guess I am an organizing fool.  Also have been cleaning the garden beds taking advantage of a few days of warmer temperatures and no rain.  Shown below are the first of the daffodils blooming on 4-14-14.

This is for a challenge April Showers at Charisma Cardz Challenge which is about to end.   I embossed a white card stock and sponged the raindrops with Memento Summer Sky ink and colored in the umbrella with Copics. The April flowers are a stamp from Repeat Impressions colored in Copics  RV23,29. Y000,YG 03,95.  The sentiment is from Creative Clear Stamps and stamped in Memento Rose Bud.  The EF is from Darice.

Playing with Colors and Dies

Welcome! This card was the result of playing with some colorful  papers from Webster Pages Park Drive pad and some Cheery Lynn Dies.  I was trying to design an entry for the challenge Anything Goes at Cheery Lynn Design Blog.  I used Ivory CS as the base and Green Paper for accents cut with Ambergris  Tiny Doily and Cathedral Lace Frame (used only a side panel from the frame).    I am always experimenting with different uses of dies rather than the intended use. The other elements are all from Pattern Papers cut with Build A Flower #1 and Ambergris Die.  I used Spellbinders dies for the circles. I used Memento Morocco ink for the MFP's stamp.  I was using the sketch below for the layout.   I do like the combo of colors and the pop of the spiky flower. 

Photo came out a bit dark so use your imagination.

Lovely Bear with Heart

Welcome!  As you may know one of my favorite themes for cards is Bears since I am a Bear Collector.  I have had this digital image from Beccy's Place in my files for a number of years.  I decided he would be great for the challenge at Digi Sketch which is to use Bears.   After printing, I colored him with Copics E 0000,25,35,50,R43,46,Y28 and fussy cut the image. I used the sketch shown to the left but gave it a turn before assembling the elements. The card base is GKD Brown CS matted with Kraft Paper from stash which was embossed with Darice Chevron EF.  I added a rectangle of pattern paper from Crate Paper DIY Shop Collection and then the Bear who has a lot of heart and love.  Finished with a die cut label from the Crate Paper collection.

Shades of Gray

My post today is a Clean and Simple card for the challenge at CAS-ual Friday to use 2 or more shades of gray.  I started with a dark gray card base and stamped a sentiment  from GKD Stippled Nature Set in Memento Gray Flannel ink.  I attached 2 pieces of pattern paper in 2 shades of gray from MMY Quilting Bee Paper Pad above and below the sentiment.  Finished with a touch of red with a Memento Lady Bug marker.  How simple can this be??

No Coloring Used in the Making of this Card

Welcome! The challenge at Flourishes Timeless Tuesday is to use a stamped image but no coloring. Less is More!  This was a bit difficult for me because I love coloring.  The card that I came up with was to stamp the Rose image from Flourishes "Flowers for Jan" on red cardstock with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and fussy cut the image.  If I were home, I would have used my Cameo for cutting. I layered the image on patterned paper from Webster's Pages that I edged with red ink. Added a red organdy ribbon and sentiment using the same stamp set and Memento Red Ink.  Attached to GKD Ivory cardstock base.

One Layer Love

I made this quick and easy one layer card using White card stock and stamping an Anemone stamp from Flourishes Set 3 times using Memento Love Letter and Bamboo Leaves ink and then coloring in with pencils.  The sentiment is from Flourishes Wild Roses set and stamped in the same red ink. I finished with a heart cutout and 2 score lines. I was inspired by the Flourishes stamps that I won last month.

Winter White Card

 The challenge at Cheery Lynn Designs this week is Winter Whites and we must use at least one of her dies.  I started out and cut a few of her snowflakes thinking I would make a card featuring snow and snowflakes.  Then I took out a white glossy cardstock and thought I would use it for the card base.  Playing around I decided to  emboss the Cathedral Lace Frame die on the front of the glossy white CS cut to  7"X10".  I have always cut with this die but never used for just embossing.  I loved the look of the embossing....such an elegant look on the glossy white .. so much that I decided this would be the feature of my card.  Added some pearls and a white organza ribbon with gold thread.  I finished the inside with a panel of white cardstock embossed with Swedish Spring Oval Frame.   I  heat embossed the sentiment from Flourishes with gold embossing powder.

It is fun to experiment ....you never know what you might create.

Another Get In Shape Card

 Hello! The temp is beginning to warm up in Ohio.  It has reached 12 degrees as I post this. I made another card for Flourishes Timeless  Tuesday challenge FTTC253 to make a Shaped Card. I just had to use flowers on this one since this month's Flourishes release is Flowers For Jan.  I am also cutting the first stamp image that I cut with my NEW Cameo...oh, how simple is that!  Using a cut file from Flourishes, I cut the outline of a stamp from Zinnias and then stamped the image directly on to the cutout.  Hint: It is best to stamp the image before removing from the Cameo mat which holds the CS while stamping.  I cut several and stamped at the same time.
I colored the image with Copics Y02,17, 23, 38, G21, 40. I created the card base with White CS and layers of Yellow and Green CS's all cut with Spellbinders Scallop Oval Dies.  I added a green satin loop ribbon and a sentiment from Zinnias stamped in Memento Potter's Clay ink and cut with SB Label 4.

Shaped Card for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday

 

This week's challenge at Flourishes Timeless Tuesday is ushering in their new release. We are to "Get in Shape" by making a shaped card. I decided to make a Valentine card combining scalloped heart die cuts and Label 4 die cuts made with Spellbinders dies.  I stamped the white heart with an image from Flourishes  From the Heart Set using Memento Lady Bug ink.  I attached this to the red heart and then  to the card base of white CS cut with the Labels 4 Die. Using the same stamp set, I stamped a banner and sentiment with Versamark and heat embossed with white EP. I fussy cut the banner and popped up with foam dots and added 2 red hearts leftover from another project.  Also added some sparkle with Clear star Pen.

Celebrate with a Card

Today, I have a CAS card for a birthday or another day of celebration. The hanging lanterns remind me of décor hung for a party.  My stamps are from Flourishes Pinwheels and Popsicles and this is the first time I have inked these stamps.  I paper pieced the lanterns with scraps after stamping in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white Neenah cardstock. The sentiment was stamped with Memento Peanut Brittle ink,  I have made a New Year Craft Resolution to use up more of many paper scraps and use neglected stamps and tools. I layered the image on another scrap and attached to a White card base,

Cute Bear

Today is another cold and snowy day...perfect for crafting.  I made this card for the What If? Wednesday  sketch challenge at The House That Stamps Built. I used a Bear Repeat Impressions Stamp for my focus image,  I stamped the Cute Bear with Memento Rich Cocoa and colored with Copics E35,37, and 51. After cutting with a Nesties circle die, I sponged the edge with distress ink and attached it to  a beaded circle die cut of red cardstock. I used GKD Brown cardstock for the card base and layered with a strip of Polka Dot Pattern Paper. I finished with a red wired  ribbon tied in a bow. The ribbon  was saved from a Christmas gift.

 

My day was starting fine until my computer died....would not turn on after suddenly shutting down.  My DH took it in to the Geek Squad who pronounced it DOA from a fried Motherboard probably due to old age.  I am so glad that I have Carbonite that saves all my file. Now I am shopping for a new computer.

New Year Fun

Back today with more wishes for a Happy New Year.  We spent a quiet night at home on New Year's Eve with a great dinner and champagne.  On New Year's I prepared a brunch of Eggs Benedict topped with a bit of leftover caviar and Al served  Mimosas.   We had our traditional dinner of roast pork, black eyed peas, sauerkraut, and corn bread.  It's partly a southern thing.

My card is made with stamps from Mark's Finest Papers "Big City" and "Peaceful Nuthatch" using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  The fireworks are embossed with  Darice EF and inked with gold ink and clearstar pen. Attached to a black cardstock base.

Cheery Lynn Challenge

This week  the challenge at Cheery Lynn Designs is the theme of Thank You and to use at least one Cheery Lynn Designs Die.  On my card, I have used Cheery Lynn Fanciful Flourish Die, Butterfly and Angel Wings Small #2 dies, and some dies from Build a Flower #1 and #2.  I used the negative from a flourish die cut from White Cardstock that I layered over green cardstock which is the also the card base.  I cut the butterfly from yellow cardstock and used a coral cardstock for the angel wings. The flowers were made with 3 different dies and attached with foam dots to the stem. I used a yellow pattern paper from My Mind's Eye (hard to see)  for the flowers.  I cut the word Thanks with a Silhouette file using my new Cameo. The white  layer was embossed with Cuttlebug EF Polka Dots.

Have a Beary Happy Day

Good Morning!  Today I am sharing a card that I made for What If? Wednesday- Sketch  Challenge N1313 at The House That Stamps Built.  I used Repeat Impressions stamp Bear Hug Stamped in Memento Espresso Truffle ink and colored with Copics. I used some stickers and cut outs as well as the Pattern Paper from Crate Paper DIY Shop Collection to complete the card with the sketch shown below. The coral card stock used for the base and mat was from my stash of papers. Nestabilities square and scallop square dies were used .  Have a Happy Day!

Black and White Again

 
Hello!  Today I have another card for Joan's Gardens challenge to use Black and White Only, use Christmas theme, use a Frame, and use a product sold at Joan's Gardens. See details at www.atjoansgardens.com.  From my first card made for this challenge, I had a negative in black leftover from cutting a Doily with Cheery Lynn's French Pastry die and decided to use it for another card. I cut the edge with a Martha Stewart border punch and attached this to  a white card base. To the center I placed an image from the Heartfelt Creations Christmas Collection that I cut with a SB Circle Die and layered with another circle cut with SB Lacey Circle Die.  The sentiment is from Flourishes and was heat embossed with white EP. I added some sparkle to the stars with Sakura Clear Star Pen. I like the frame that resulted in using the negative. Inside the card, I used a verse cut  from the Heartfelt Creations Christmas Collection. Shown below.

Sweet Moments for Joan

Welcome!  I was lucky enough to have won Joan's Gardens Challenge last week so I am back with an entry to her challenge this week is to use Black and White Only, use Christmas theme, use a Frame, and use a product sold at Joan's Gardens.  See details at www.atjoansgardens.com

I made a clean and simple card using a Cheery Lynn Doily as my frame cut with French Pastry Die. To the center I added a verse stamped with Heartfelt Creations Sweet Memories Stamp and Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  This was added to a layer of White Cardstock embossed with Cuttlebug EF Polka Dots trimmed with Black Satin Ribbon. All was attached to a card base of Black Cardstock. Finished with Black Crystals on the design.
