The Beach Life

Hello on this very hot day in Ohio where the temperatures are in the nineties and it is very humid.  This would be a great day to be at the beach but instead I made card with a beach theme.  I created the card using some old stamps from a Flourishes set called Beach Life. I used 3 stamps with masking to create a scene on white cardstock and colored with Copics.  Added some dry embossing to the sky and some brown brads (Coconuts) to the palm trees for texture. Finished with an appropriate sentiment from my stash of stamps.  Other Supplies: Blue and Kraft Cardstock, Memento Rich Cocoa, Toffee Crunch, Summer Sky Inks, Darice EF Clouds, White Gel Pen for waves.

Time on the Beach

Hello!  I am sharing a card that I have made with a beach theme.  I used some very old stamps from a Flourishes  set which is now retired.  I stamped the images with  Distress Oxide inks and then water colored with the DOI and a water brush.   Four stamps from this set were used in creating the card. I used a Kraft mat and a blue card base to finish.  Making this short since deadline is near.

Guest Designer for Retro Rubber Challenge #138

Hello! Welcome to my studio. I have not spent much time here for the last few weeks but I am back now to post as a guest designer for one of my favorite card challenges   Retro Rubber.  This great challenge gives me  an opportunity to use some of my oldie but goodie stamps. 

The theme for the challenge is Anything Goes and you must use stamps older than a year.  For my card I have reached back in time to 2011 to use a stamp set from Flourishes ( no longer around) designed by  Marcella Hawley.  The Zinnia set is one of my favorites and I have used it many times.  I stamped the Zinnias on white card stock with Memento Toffee Crunch ink and colored with Copics using my favorite color combo of pink and green.  I added some highlights and accents with colored pencils and a gold gelly roll metallic pen. I stamped the sentiment from the same set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I trimmed the image with a Spellbinder scalloped oval die and placed on a background of patterned paper from DCWV Hello Darlin' stack. I attached this to a Pink card base.  I finished with some Dewdrops that I have had in my stash for many years.

A Box of Zinnias

Hello!  One of the challenges at Creative Confetti this month is All Boxed Up-put your image in a boxed shape/layout for graphic punch.  So what I did was to put an image of Zinnias in a box that I created with Patterned Paper. On white cardstock, I stamped the Zinnias from an older set designed by Marcella Hawley and colored with Copics.  Then I added my box that I designed from patterned paper and stamped the sentiment from the same set.  Finished with a card base of another patterned paper with glitter that coordinated with the box.

Easter Cards

Welcome to the studio! As I posted earlier I have been working on making Easter cards to send to my Mother's Life Care Center for all the residents. I am sharing some photos of the 80 plus cards that I am making. I am using up bits and pieces from my leftover boxes of stamped images, scraps, and die cuts to create the cards.  The top 3 cards were made with already colored images from an earlier project from several years ago.  The stamps were from Flourishes A Year of Flowers set designed by Marcella Hawley.  I trimmed the images and matted with green scraps and added to some textured card stock bases.  Stamped with an old Hero Arts sentiment. I printed messages for the inside using large print on copy paper.

 More cards with leftovers from earlier projects. Die cut bunnies were cut with Cameo. Pink  Bunny tails are round circles of fuzzy Velcro with adhesive backs found in a drawer in the studio. The Bunny in the Basket is an PSX stamp from 1990.  How fun it is to use up leftovers. Feels like I am being productive to clean up some of these supplies.

Frosty Water Color

A snowy day inspires a frosty card! I used an old Flourishes stamp set Warm Winter Wishes designed by Marcella Hawley to create this.  I stamped the snowman on watercolor paper with a gray ink from Memento and water colored with a water brush using DOI Broken China, Salty Ocean, Tumbled Glass, Walnut Stain, and Fossilized Amber.  Used black marker for eyes and mouth. Trimmed the image with a Spellbinders die and attached to a mat of Blue CS and a card base of White CS.

Dropping a Line

Hello!  Today I am sharing a card that I made with a silhouette stamp from an old set from Flourishes called Kid's Play.  I stamped the image and sentiment with Memento Black ink and heat embossed with Clear EP. I sponged the sky lightly with Memento Summer Sky ink and added some color to the water with Copics B000.  I used a pattern paper with a bubble design found in my stash for the background. I inked the edges of both the image and mat with a Black Copic to give the look of more layers without adding thickness or more weight to the card.

It's Cold Outside

Welcome to my warm and cozy studio! But it is cold outside! 3 degrees but feels like -6! But that is warmer than yesterday! If you go out, don't forget your mittens to stay warm.  My CAS card sends that message today.  I stamped the mittens with a Flourishes stamp from Warm Winter Wishes set by Marcella Hawley with DOI  Salty Ocean and colored with a pencil and added some sparkle with Crystal Stickles.  Sentiment stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with WOW Silver EP. The straight line was stamped with a GKD stamp using Versamark and also heat embossed with Wow Silver EP. I edged the white CS panel with Pilot Silver Marker before attaching to GKD Powder Blue CS.

Thanks with Flowers

Hello! Playing again with the combo of Black and White.  I used another old Flourishes stamp set Zinnias  by Marcella Hawley dated 2011 to create this card. Heat embossed both the image and sentiment with clear EP after stamping with black ink to give some shine.     Other supplies used: White and Black CS, Memento Tuxedo Black ink,  Clear EP,  Cuttlebug Argyle EF, Spellbinders Frame Die.  This was a great image to use since there are so many details.  I have used this stamp many times with lots of colors but this is the first time to simply stamp in black.

Wine Country

Hello!  It looks like major snow headed our way.  Time to go to a warmer climate?  Wouldn't it be nice to be driving in the wine country in Italy as depicted in my card?  I pulled out an old Flourishes stamp set Dreaming of Florence by Marcella Hawley dated 2012 to create this card in Black and White.   Heat embossed both the image and sentiment with clear EP.   Supplies used: White and Black CS, Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Versafine Black ink,  Clear EP, Gingham Border EF, Dies, Black Gems. 

I love my stamps from Flourishes. Fun to have the chance to use.

Have a Slice of Birthday Cake

Hello!  Making a card for some of the current challenges.  Used a sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches with some patterned papers, an embossing folder, and stamps to create this birthday card.  Stamped a slice of cake on white CS with Memento Black ink from Flourishes Pinwheels & Popsicles set and colored with Copics.  Trimmed the image with a square die, used a corner punch to round corners and placed on layer of patterned paper. Used a silver metallic pen on the fork, added another layer to the roses with fussy cut roses, and used some glossy accents on the roses and sprinkles. Assembled the card with white base card embossed with Darice Flowers EF, strips of patterned papers, sentiment from the same set, and sequins and stars.

Have a Radish Today!

Hello! Just for Fun! A card made experimenting  playing with Kraft CS and DOI .   Pulled out an old Flourishes stamp of Radishes designed by Marcella Hawley.  Stamped with Green and Red DOI on Kraft CS and heat embossed with Clear EP and then colored with DO Inks and a water brush.  Added a sentiment from the same set  Garden Fresh.  Added Red CS card base and a strip below the image.   Challenges:

The Color of Pearl Inspires

Hello! Some times the simplest things are the most beautiful. That is what I think of this card. Yes, it is certainly CAS....no layers, no embellishments, no coloring. Just stamping and heat embossing with Versamark and Gold EP. I did not start out to make a clean and simple card...just turned out that way.

 I was trying to think of a card to make for the new Creative Confetti Challenge Power Poppy which is to let the color of your birthstone inspire you to make a creation. My Birthstone is Pearl or Alexandrite or Moonstone. There are 3 choices. I prefer Pearl so my card is inspired by the color of Pearl.  Actually Pearls come in a wide range of natural shades and colors but are generally known to have lustrous creamy white hue. So pearl does not inspire much color. I used some Oyster Pearl CS that has a luminous and lustrous shine-hope you can detect the luster in my photo. I really like this paper and I have been using it sparingly since I do not want to use it up.

On the Beach

Hello!  How about a day at the beach?  Let's head for the beach via this card that I created for Retro Rubber Challenge Life's a Beach and other challenges.  I began by creating the beach scene with some ocean waves and a blue sky using Distress Oxide Inks Antique Linen, Vintage Photo, Stormy Sky, and Memento Summer Sky ink. I simply applied the inks in different ways and added some pencil coloring too until I achieved the look of sand and waves. I stamped Palm Trees with the Hammock using the Misti with Peeled Paint, Candied Apple, and Vintage Photo. Colored in with a water brush.  Added in some sea grass and the sentiment using Vintage Photo unk. All stamps used are from Flourishes set Beach Life from 2012.  Finished with a Kraft mat and Blue card base. 

This is a one of a kind card since I don't think I  would be able to reproduce the background.

Colorful Zinnia Bouquet

Hello!  I love zinnias and they are my favorite summer flower.  And they are the perfect pick for this color challenge.  Sometimes an idea for a card just does not turn out like you think it would.  I knew what stamp would be great to use for the color challenge at Tuesday Throwdown and I thought I would do a watercolor but use Versamark and heat embossing for stamping the image. Using a old favorite Zinnia stamp by Marcella Hawley, I did 4 tries with the embossing using different EP before giving up (see on the left) and then stamped the image with GKD Amalgam ink which works well with Copics and Watercoloring.  The result with stamping on water color paper and water coloring with Distress Oxide Inks worked much out to my satisfaction and I also used all the colors in the Color Combo Challenge. I colored with Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, Twisted Citron, and Broken China.  Used Memento Sweet Plum marker for the darker color.  Finished with a sentiment from the Zinnia set and added my painting to a Blue card base. Easy-peasy once I gave up on the embossing.

Herbs from the Garden

Hello!  My card today uses the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketch challenge and an old Flourishes  stamp Italian Gardens. I stamped all the herbs with Memento Espresso Truffle ink and colored with Copics and Memento Markers.   I stamped the sentiment with SU Always Artichoke ink.  Other supplies: White CS,GKD Green CS, Graphic 45 Secret Garden paper pad. Cheery Lynn Leaves die,  Snippet of ribbon from stash.  This stamp set by Marcella Hawley now the owner of Power Poppy came out in 2011 and I believe I got it in 2012.

Gone Fishing

Hello!  My second card today is a One Layer design using colored cardstock.  I embossed clouds with a Darice EF and stamped the image and sentiment from Flourishes Kids Play set with Black Versafine ink. I then heat embossed with Clear EP.  I sponged the clouds with Brilliance Moonlight White ink.  I like the simplicity of this card...certainly brings thoughts of a summer day.
