CAS Christmas Card

Hello!  I am sharing a CAS design that I created with stamps and dies for a Christmas card that will be easily mass produced if I decide to do so.  I stamped the pinecone twice on kraft CS with Versamark and heat embossed with Zing Chestnut EP. Stamp is from GKD Seasonal Sentiments Bundle. I die cut both with GKD Die from the same set. Like the way they look, and no coloring was involved. I die cut the Pine Bough with Impression Obsession die from Fresh Asparagus CS and colored the branch with Copics marker. I arranged the die cuts on a panel of white CS that I inked the edges with a Brown Copics marker .... this looks like a mat without adding more weight.  I finished with a sentiment from GKD Joyful Holiday stamped with Versamark  and embossed with the Chestnut EP.

The hardest part of this design was deciding how to best arrange the die cut elements, but I like the final results.

Roses for Your Birthday

Today, I am sharing a birthday card that I created with stamps and dies from Gina K Tropical Blooms (from 2018) set and a sentiment stamp from GKD Northwoods 2(2015). I used a panel of Red Velvet CS embossed with Divine Swirls embossing folder for the background behind the die cut flowers colored with Copics. I Stamped the words with Versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder. Added a narrow white satin ribbon to finish the design. 

Challenges: 
Retro Rubber Challenge: #153 Tic Tac Toe. Used row with Birthday, Neutrals (White), and Die or Punch.

Embossed Silhouette

Hello! I was truly inspired by Power Poppy Blog Monday Inspire Me post about Embossed Silhouette.  I was so inspired that I immediately CASE'd Julie's card.  I even used a flower stamp from the same set that she used- Vibrant Thanks set- but I used the Bee Balm  instead of the Coreopsis.  I also did sponging very similar to what she did.  I simply followed her steps to create this card so please check out her post ….she explained everything much better that I can. 

Supplies used: Power Poppy Vibrant Thanks and Simply Camelia stamp sets; White, Fresh Asparagus, and Faded Brick GKD cardstocks; Fried Brick and Peeled Paint DOI, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Versamark Ink; White EP; Copic Black Multiliner pen and marker; Dewdrops.

Challenges:

Alphabet Challenge: W is for anything you wish. Wishing Happy Wishes. 

Creative Confetti:  Frame It Up.  Simply framed my image with layers of card stock and also framed the edges of image with a black Copic.

Playing with Perfect Pearls

Hello!  I made this card for this week's ModSquad challenge -  we are to use Mica powders like perfect pearls on our card.  I stamped Roses from the Gina K Designs set Rose Bouquet with Versamark ink on GKD Red Velvet CS and applied Perfect Pearls to the image.  I colored the leaves with green pencils. Since I did not have a dark green cardstock to use behind the image, I colored white cardstock with green copics to match and also used versamark on the edges with more of the Perfect Pearls. Wanted some shine on the mat.  I cut the mat with a scalloped square die but manipulated the die to create a rectangle shape (only had the square).  Assembled the card with a white card base.  The GKD sentiment was  stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with GKD White EP. 

(The color of the leaves and the scallop edges match better in real life but does not appear to in the photo.  I might have liked this card better if I had fussy cut the rose image and placed on a different background. )

It's Cold Outside!

Baby it's cold outside!  It looks almost like my card and the inspiration graphic from Retro Rubber shown below when I look out the window.. When I saw this challenge, I immediately thought of an old stamp in my stash from Mark's Finest Papers(no longer in business).  The stamp set was called Ice and Snow and dated 2011. I inked the stamp with DOI Walnut Stain and stamped it on White CS.  I cleaned the stamp and inked the top portion of the stamp with Versamark ink and heat embossed with White EP to get the effect of snow on the limbs of the trees.  I then taped off the scene and sponged the sky with Memento Summer Sky ink...loved the wintery sky that resulted.  I liked the way that I let one of the upper branches extend above the scene. (hard to see) I then added some snow on the ground, on and around the trees with a Snow Marker.  Love the effect of heating this element up and getting texture in the scene.  Stamped an appropriate sentiment with the same Walnut Stain ink.  Trimmed the panel and attached to a Gray Blue CS that matches the color of the sky.  I was not aiming to copy the scene below but it came very close.

Merry and Bright

Welcome!  I created this card using colors from the Creative Confetti challenge shown below.  I stamped the Poinsettia image with Memento Gray Flannel ink and colored with Copics using blues, greens, and gray.  Added some sparkle with Stardust Pen and Pilot Silver Metallic Marker.  Stamped the sentiment with Versamark and heat embossed with WOW Silver EP. Stamps are from Power Poppy Poinsettia set.  Finished with Green card base and a mat of Blue CS.

Copper Leaves are Falling

Hello! Fall is in the air!  I love making cards for fall and I made this one for the fall theme challenge at Modsquad.   I pulled out a background paper  that I made with Distress Oxide Inks some time ago and had filed away.  (Not sure of which DOI that I used with watercolor paper) On the panel, I stamped a leaf several times from Gina K Designs Skeleton Leaves with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Copper EP. The sentiment is from an older GKD set A Year of Leaves.  Attached to a base of Copper Metallic Card Stock.

Candy Cane Ornament

 Hello!  I was playing Tic-Tac-Toe at The House That Stamps Built and created this Christmas Card using Repeat Impressions stamps from the Snow Globe Series.  I used the diagonal row of Sponging, Texture, and Twine-- I sponged the white card base with DOI Fired Brick before attaching a mat of red CS and the ornament,  but it almost looks like a solid cardstock  in the photo.  The texture is from the heat embossed sentiment, the heat embossed candy canes,  and the metallic gold die cut circle.  I was attempting to create an ornament with the Candy Cane edged in gold,  but it almost looks like one of those ornaments made with a Mason Jar lid.  Finished with a Red Metallic Twine and Bow to hang the ornament.

CAS Prayers

Hello!   I am challenging myself to make cards using up some of the un-used items collecting on my worktable....for example items that I die cut, stamped, or colored and never made into a finished card, etc.  On this card, I used an image  that I stamped on Kraft CS with Versamark and embossed with gold EP and then colored with pencils.  I set it aside in my unfinished box to complete later.  That was several weeks, months ago.  The Chinese Lantern image was from Power Poppy Sunny Harvest set.  
Today, I pulled out the forgotten panel and added an Sentiment from Power Poppy Peony Muse set....stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with Gold EP... to make a sympathy card.  I highlighted  the sentiment with a red pencil. I placed this on a Red CS mat and a Gold Metallic card base.  I thought it ended up as a elegant card and was perfect to let someone know that I cared.

Bleach Technique

Hello!  This card was made from the July Release Party Challenge at Gina K Designs on Stamp TV.  We were challenged to make a card using the Bleach Technique shown by Gina K.   I stamped the image and a sentiment from GKD You Make Me Smile stamps with Versamark on Red Velvet CS  and heat embossed with Black EP.  I brushed the bleach on the image removing some of the color.  I added some color to the leaves with a green pencil but left the petals just as they were after bleaching.  Finished with a black mat and white card base.

Jingle All the Way

Welcome!  Do you hear the Christmas bells ringing?  For this card I pulled out an old Bell stamp from Gina K's Very Merry Christmas set but used one of her newer sentiment stamps.  I simply used the stamps with Versamark and Gold EP on Red Velvet CS.  The sentiment was doubled embossed which gave it a raised look. I filled in the ribbons with a Gold Gel Pen.  I stamped and embossed the bells again on Gold Metallic CS which I fussy cut and popped up on the card.  I think this may be the first time to gold emboss on Gold Metallic paper.  The result was a very CAS card but a bit elegant.

I inked the edge of the red layer with Pilot Gold Marker....this is a great way to give a layered look to a card but with less weight for mailing.

Fun with Distress Inks

 

 

Hello!  I have a quick post today showing a card that I made for Stamp TV Mix It Up Monday Challenge STV16MON 36.  Cat challenged us to make a Christmas card with Snow.   I ended up making a somewhat abstract artsy card using snowflake stamps, watercolor paper, and distress inks.  I was inspired by Jennifer McGuire's video about easy distress inking.  You use your fingers to add distress inks to watercolor paper after adding images with versamark and white EP.  The bad thing about this technique was you do end up with some inky fingers but it was fun.

Supplies: GKD Stamps from Very Merry Christmas, White CS, Watercolor Paper, Versamark Ink, Distress inks Broken China, Mermaid Lagoon, Stormy Sky, Fossilized Amber
