Take Time for a Cup of Coffee

Have a cup of Coffee?   I always begin my day with a cup of coffee. I made this card to enter in several challenges.  I began by using the sketch from Tuesday Morning sketches shown below. I stamped the cup on light tan cs with Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink and cut with Nesties Lacey circle die and then added Glossy Accents to the cup. Using a card base of the same tan cs, I added a layer of MME's Pattern paper from 6X6 pad on the upper part and Kraft CS stamped with words in Memento Espresso Truffle to the lower area. Attached these 2 sections and a Rust Grograin Ribbon to the base.  Added the image with pop up dots. Stamped some coffee beans with Memento Rich Cocoa to the upper corner and added Glossy Accents for texture. Finished with metal tabs from soda cans for some texture and a masculine touch. Stamps are all from Mark's Finest Papers "Oh, Beans" set.
Challenges:
Tuesday Morning Sketches: Shown below
Anything Goes Challenge Blog: #98 Coffee Break and/or Food
Oldie But a Goodie: Male card- stamps and ribbon are 6 months old or older

Stormy Skies

Welcome to my blog. I am so glad that you came by.  I enjoy making cards for challenges but the difficult part is not always making a project but deciding what to create. For example the challenge at Craft a Scene this month is Troubled/Stormy Skies. That's right it has taken me almost the entire month to come up with an idea because I do not have stamps for clouds or storm effects. But I created my stormy skies with inks and Copics sponging and blending until I was happy with the result. I must say that I was pleased with the finished card. I used a sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches. Thought this might make a Good Luck Card for someone experiencing troubled times.

Recipe from Speedy Fox and Friends

Welcome! We are back with another challenge from Speedy Fox and Friends. This week we have a recipe 1, 2, 3- Use only 1 layer, use only 2 colors and use 3 embellishments.  That is easy as 1-2-3!
I began with a card base of textured green CS that I embossed with a Quickkutz EF scallop circle and did some score lines. Inside the embossed circle,  I added  a Poinsettia  that I stamped from "Poinsettia Blooms" ( Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co) on red CS with Vesamark, heat embossed with black EP, and cut out. Added some Gold Gala Glitter to the center.  I then stamped and heat embossed the sentiment from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co. from "Greetings of the Season". I made my own embellishments using the same poinsettia stamp as my feature image. I created 3 poinsettias from Shrinky Dink using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and pencils.  That was the most fun part of making this card. So my finished recipe is done and ready to serve...1 Layer, 2 Colors Green and Red, and 3 Shrinky Dink Poinsettias.  What are you going to cook up for the challenge? I can't wait to see.

Please join in our recipe challenge and you could win a stamp from Mark's Finest Paper, a Heinrich Co. You have until 3PM on Friday, November 30 to enter the challenge here. If you use Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co. stamp, your name will be entered into the drawing twice.

Friends of SpeedyTV Challenge

Happy Monday! The Thanksgiving Holiday is almost here. The Friends of Speedy TV are asking you to create a Thanksgiving Card for the challenge this week.  I have made a card using stamps from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co. including "Autumn Splendor", "Scenic Selections", and "Daffodil Greetings".    I stamped the pumpkin on orange CS with Memento Toffee Crunch and also on a green CS . I then paper pieced the top of the pumpkin using the green for the stem and leaves. The pumpkin was cut out and attached to an Ivory Mat  on which I had stamped the leaves and sentiments. I also had embossed the upper part of this mat with Cuttlebug EF Divine Swirls and added some score lines. I adhered this to an Orange mat and then a Pattern Paper Mat from K&Company. I  attached this to the card base of a lighter Orange CS.

Please join us for the fun. If you enter the challenge this week you will have a chance to win a Stamp Set from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co. You have until 11:00 pm on Sunday November 25 to submit your projects at Home of Speedy TV.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my family and friends.  I wish you all a happy and safe holiday as you spend time with your loved ones and give thanks for all we have.

Friends of Speedy TV Challenge

Welcome to FOSTV Challenge 46. This week we are asking you to make a Scrapbook Page.  I have not done much scrap booking since I started saving pictures digitally and doing digital slide shows and movies which I have not done much lately. I decided to showcase some pictures made by my DH of winter scenes from a few years ago. The photos are of the Hawthorne trees in our yard covered with ice and snow. I thought the stamp set "Ice and Snow" by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co. was great for my layout. I stamped the icicles, trees and snowflakes with Versamark on a 12x12 scrapbook paper of blue with white dots....looks like snow. I embossed the images with silver EP. Added some stickles to the icicle border and liquid pearls for falling snow.  I stamped the verse and sentiment in black ink and added the photos that I printed with red frames...easier than doing mats. Journaling was done on the computer.

Supplies:
Stamps: MFP,aHC "Ice and Snow"

Ink: Versamark, Memento Tuxedo Black
EP: Zing Silver Metallic
Paper: Paper Pizazz Dots on Light Blue
Stickles and Liquid Pearls
Photographs: Resident Photographer Al Pollack

If you enter the challenge this week you will have a chance to win a Stamp Set from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co. You have until 11:00 pm on Sunday November 18 to submit your projects at Home of Speedy TV.

Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge

Welcome to another Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge.  This week is a bit of a different challenge....you are asked to add a fence to your creation.  It will be fun to see what type a fence that you use. For my card I am adding a split rail fence to a cabin scene by the lake. This is typical of fences seen in the country on old farms. I used fence and birds stamps from "Scenic Selections", a cabin stamp from "Stamps on the Fly", and a sentiment from "Buried Treasures" all by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.  I began by stamping the fences and masking them before stamping the scene all with Memento Rich Cocoa on White CS. I colored all with Copics and sponged the sky with blue ink and added snow to the mountain caps. Taking some artistic license, I did extend the scene a bit by drawing some lines and adding a tree so that the scene extended behind the fences. Added some birds in the sky and stamped the sentiment. I placed the image on a card base of Dark Green with scored edges. I love coloring this scene.

Please join in our challenge and you could win a stamp from Mark's Finest Paper, a Heinrich Co. You have until 3PM on Friday, November 16 to enter the challenge here. If you use Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co. stamp, your name will be entered into the drawing twice.

Supplies:
Stamps listed above: MFP,aHC
Inks: Memento Rich Cocoa, Tuxedo Black, Summer Sky
Copics: BG0000,01,10 , G20,21,28,40, YG 99, E30,31,34,35,37,39, C0,C1, C3, N0, N2, N4

Added some black pearls and finished this layer with a yellow grosgrain ribbon and a butterfly brad colored with Copics 100 and R59.  Stamped the sentiments. Attached this to a base card of Dark Charcoal Textured CS. All supplies from my stash.

Rick Rack or Ric Rac or Rickrack??
Welcome to another challenge at Speedy the Fox and Friends.  We are challenging you to use Rick Rack on your projects.  However you spell it - ric rac, rick rack, or rickrack - we are talking about that flat-woven trim that has zigzagged its way for many years in all sizes and colors on to many garments and craft projects.  I am that sure all you card makers out there have a scrap or two or even a package of  rick rack in your stash.  That is where I found the red and gold Rick Rack that I used.

Challenges:
Fab 'n' Funky: Use die cuts and punches. Used corner punch and Spellbinder Keyhole die.

Altoid Tin to a Sewing Kit

Inside of Sewing kit
Welcome to our Monday challenge at Friends of Speedy TV.  This week we are doing Altered Items. I have collected empty Altoids tins for a long time and have quite a few. But what to do with them??  I have thought about making sewing kits with some of the tins for gifts.  When I received the stamp set "I'm In Stitches" by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co., I thought again about making sewing kits but did not.  But when I was thinking about this challenge to do an altered item, I decided it was time to give the sewing kit a try. And so here is my result.....an Altoid Tin becomes a Sewing Kit to be used for travel or in a purse. The tins with a smooth top work best for this but there are  tins that have an embossed top.  Using an adhesive back paper made this a very easy project.  First I made a pattern to cover the top of the tin. I cut the cover in white textured  paper backed with adhesive and stamped first the Scissors with Versamark Ink and Gold embossed.  Masking the scissors I stamped the Pin Cushion and embossed with Red EP.  I filled in the design with a Green Copic.  I did the sentiment also with Versamark and Red EP.  I sponged the entire cover with  Distress ink to darken the paper. I attached a gold brad to the scissors. Attached the cover to the top of a tin.  Added ribbon around the tin.  I also covered the bottom with a piece of the adhesive paper (not shown). I then added my sewing kit items to the inside.

If you enter the challenge this week you have a chance to win the Stamp shown below by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co. You have until 11:00 pm on Sunday October 21 to submit your projects at Home of Speedy TV.

Supplies:
Stamps: "I'm In Stitches" by MFP
Papers: DCWV Textured paper with Adhesive
Inks: Versamark, Copics Green, Ranger Distress Ink Antique Linen
Embossing Powders:  Red and Gold
Plaid Ribbon and Gold Brad from Stash

I layered this on a white card base. Added a green flourish cut with Cheery Lynn Die "Fanciful Flourish" and then added the Owl and Leaves with Acorns that I stamped, embossed (Leaves),   colored with Copics and fancy cut. I used colors brown, gray, yellow, taupe and tan  from the photo to inspire my choice of colors. Finished with sentiment using Memento Pistachio.
