Masculine Birthday Card

Hello!  I made this card for one of the challenges at The House That Stamps Built this month.  It is good that Wendy extended the submission dates for challenges this month so I have time to play along.  The challenge is a Tic Tac Toe one....I selected the top row -Wildlife, Ribbon or Twine, Embossing. Supplies: Repeat Impressions Stamps, Memento Rich Cocoa and Bamboo Leaves Ink, Copics, Clear EP, Spellbinders Die (used to frame the image with embossing and cut out), Argyle EF (embossed PP layer), Pattern Paper from DCWV, Green Twine, Kraft CS, White CS, White Pen.

Christmas Sparkle

Hello! Thanks for dropping by as I know everyone is very busy this week.  I am sharing a card that I made for Stamp TV's Mix It Up Monday Challenge to create a card using a past Gina K Designs holiday stamp set.  I chose to use Melanie's Festive Frame set that came out in 2009.  I stamped the frame and sentiment with Versamark and heat embossed with Gold EP.  I colored the flowers and pine cones with Copics.  I trimmed the frame and attached to DCWV Gold Shimmer CS.  I did not add any more embellishments as I did not want to overdo.

Happy Birthday from the Jungle

Hello! The Case the Designer challenge at Happy Little Stampers this month is  to choose one of their cards from June - October that inspires us and CASE the card.  I chose the design by Carol from July that is shown below left.  My card was made with some old stamps from Mark's Finest Papers using some pattern paper from DCWV Safari Chic pad.

A Trio of Pumpkins

 

Hello!  I have been playing a lot with pumpkins and there are a lot of challenges featuring them in blogland.  I took color inspiration from the challenge at Inspired By All The Little Things  and some glitter from the challenge at Curtain Call.  I stamped Gina K Designs pumpkin from Signs of Autumn on Oyster Pearl CS with Versamark ink and embossed with Gold EP.  I colored with Copics and added more gold with Gold Metallic Pen.  I placed this on a mat of Gray CS that was also used as the card base.  I die cut Happy Thanksgiving with Cheery Lynn dies from a Shimmer Gold CS used as the background for the image.  Finished with colored sequins for some sparkle and texture.

Sunset at the Lighthouse

 

Hello!  I am back after being away from Blogland for about a month.  I have returned to post a card for the WHAT IF? Wednesday photo challenge A1716. (shown on right) I used Repeat Impressions stamp for the scene on my card.  I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Using masking techniques, I sponged and blended the sky, sea and sun with Memento Cantaloupe, Tangelo, Elderberry, Nautical Blue, and Paris Dusk inks.  The scene was colored with pencils.  I cut the image with Spellbinders die and matted with Orange CS and placed on a background of glittered paper from DCWV Tahiti mat stack and a card base of Turquoise CS.

Have Some Ice Cream

Welcome!  What is better on a HOT day than a dish of COLD ice cream?  I am serving up some with From The Heart digital stamps Ice Cream Lineup and their Sketch Challenge 157 using their twist: Make it Sparkle.  I printed the servings of ice cream on white CS and colored with Copics  and added some Stickles and Liquid Pearls plus a sprinkling of Sugar Sprinkles(Wilton).  Also used a bit of Glossy Accents.  I drew circles around each with Black Pen after trimming out the images.  I used some old striped Glitter Paper by DCWV (from stash) for the background and finished with a sentiment from the same digital set.  As you can see I rotated the sketch to make a horizontal card.

Traveling by Train

Hello!  I made this card using some of my older masculine stamps with a bit of trash...metal trash that is,  to enter into some challenges with a sketch,  colors,  and use of metal request.  I pulled out a GKD stamp set Life is Good that I have had since 2010 and stamped the Train on White CS with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics.  I added a sentiment from the same set.  I attached this to a Dark Gray card base and then added striped DCWV pattern paper with my embellishment made with Orange seam binding tape and metal tabs from soda cans.  I thought metal tabs went well with the metal feel of the locomotive.

Masculine Birthday

Hello!  What could be more masculine than a card with a Duck???  I stamped this Repeat Impressions Duck stamp with Memento Toffee Crunch ink and colored with Copics  to look like a Male Mallard duck.  After cutting the image with an Oval Die I inked the edge.   I used bright Green card base with embossed layers of Kraft and a layer of Pattern Paper from DCWV Safari Chic pad.  The sentiment is  part of  a Repeat Impressions verse.

Tag Card with Love

 Welcome!  I am still playing with tags as well as some very old papers from my stash.  These papers and cut out sentiment are from Designer Scrapbook pad from We R Memory Keepers and Flower Shower Stack from DCWV.  I took bright colors and the house theme from Tag You're It Challenge using the sketch From Happy Little Stampers Challenge.  Finished with Pink and Orange Satin Ribbons and Orange metal eyelet.

Doe and Fawn in the Forest

I have a quick and easy card today....yes this image is an easy one to color. I stamped the White Tail Doe and Fawn from Repeat Impressions on ivory CS and colored with Copics  and placed on a mat of Dark Brown and then a textured cardstock pattern from DCWV Safari Chic Mat.  My design came from the sketch from Sketch Saturday Challenge.  I really like the combo of this Pattern Paper and the image.  I could not decide on a sentiment so my DH selected this one from Creative Clear stamps that I heat embossed with Zing Chestnut EP.  He said the deer looked as if they were waiting for someone.

Another Black, Silver, and Gold Creation

Some cards just do not come together without a lot of trial and error.  Such was this card for Merry Monday Christmas Challenge that I combined with the Sketch N Stash challenge and the Cheery Lynn Design Challenge to use Doilies.  Maybe that was just too much to combine but I think I did it.  I kept changing papers and embellishments and even the dies.  This was my finished project using some old black flocked pattern paper from DCWV to which I added some silver and gold embossing to add some more shine.  I am not going through all the steps in making this card as I think you can see in the photo.

A Tower of Giraffes

Hello! Back for another post of another  CAS Card. I had been trying to come up with an idea for the Challenge at CAS-ology for the cue card RUN and remembered a stamp of running giraffes.  I stamped the pair of giraffes 4 times to create a Tower ...yes, that is what a group of giraffes is called.   I used a printed cardstock from DCWV Safari Chic Matstack  to create the scene of running giraffes with an African tree and sentiment all stamped in GKD Black Onyx ink.  I placed on a card base of DCWV Black. I hope this qualifies as a CAS card --I think I left enough blank space.

Easter Basket with Sweet Treats

 

Easter is almost here.  I have been playing with my Cameo making some baskets for sweet treats.

I am also trying to use up some old papers.  I cut and assembled this basket from some papers in the DCWV Flower Shower Spring Stack using a Silhouette design.  I added the label cut with Spellbinder dies and stamped with a Hero Arts stamp in Memento Bamboo Leaves.  Used some old butterfly brads to attach the handle and label. Filled with grass and sweet candy treats.

Let's Go Surfing

Welcome!  Today, I am posting a birthday card that I made for someone who will be celebrating her 18th birthday soon.  Since she loves surfing....she lives by the beach on Captiva Island, FL....I wanted to reflect her love of surfing and the beach.   I happened to come across a photo of her surfing and printed off the picture and edited it to look more like a watercolor with photoshop.  I started with a white card base, layered with a mat of blue embossed with ocean waves using a Sizzix Texture Pad, and layered with a 4x6 printed paper from DCWV Tahiti Beach Stack that has glossy glitter.  I cut the circle from another paper from the same stack and topped with the photo matted on a sea green card stock.  The circle and photo are attached with pop up dots. I finished with a Dolphin charm attached with a brad and the sentiment cut with Cricut from orange card stock.  The card measures 5.5" x 8.5". This is one of those cards that looks better in real life.

April Showers

 Yesterday was a day of April Showers and I was inspired to make this card for several challenges since it was not nice enough to play outside. This was one of  those cards that surprised me by turning out much better than I anticipated.  It was a joy to make because  this stamp always reminds me of my sister.  I paper pieced some of the design using pattern, solid, and glitter paper. Did you know it's hard to stamp on glitter?  I had to draw in some of the lines with a fine black pen after cutting out the pieces.  I used a sketch from The Pixie Cottage challenge and used cut out clouds and flower border from the paper pad that I used. Stamped the sentiment and cut out the cloud shape freehand and added a glitter edge.   Still trying to use some of my old stash, I remembered that I had the raindrops that I used outside and inside my card. Also I used some never inked stamps that were the perfect finish:  "A friend dances with you in the rain....and walks with you through the storm."

Great Sketch from PageMaps

Another card for the contest at PageMaps sponsored by BasicGrey and Flourishes Stamps. I love playing with this sketch. For my second card, I still stayed close to the sketch and used DCWV Citrus Matstack and let the paper do all the work.  I cut a flower from one of the glitter papers and used that as a focus and added punched out leaves and stem. Rest was just cutting and attaching coordinating papers with the sketch. I did stamp a sentiment from Flourishes "Zinnias" to finish the card.

Sparkle, Sparkle in My Card!

This card was made for several challenges including one that required sparkle so I wanted the sparkle to really shine in the photo which is often hard to do. In order to have a lot of sparkle that could be seen,  I glittered a strip of White shimmery CS with  a lot of crystal glitter to make sure I had that shine come across.  I also used Glitter DP and used a Sakura Clear Star pen to add shimmer to the swan and trees in the image and the sentiment.(Can you see that?)  I think this card shines bright with enough sparkle!

I used a sketch from Crazy 4 Challenge and colors from The Play Date Cafe challenge in designing my card.
