Thoughts of Chevron

Welcome!  When I saw the Photo Challenge at Just Add Ink, I thought of my Darice EF Chevron and pulled out some Cardstocks close to the colors in the photo.  I embossed panels of 4 colors and then "fussy cut" along the zig zag  lines of the embossing and overlaid the panels to resemble the afghan in the photo.  I stamped a panel of Clear Vellum with Repeat Impressions Happy Birthday vertical stamp using SU Cameo Coral ink and heat embossed with Clear EP.  I then also embossed the vellum and trimmed the edges and laid over the panel on the left.  I like the frosted look this gave to the left panel.   This was attached to a card base of a lighter hue of turquoise.

Challenges:

Seize the Birthday: Anything Goes
Time Out Challenges: Celebration with die cutting or fussy cutting.  It did take some fussy cutting to trim all the edges.

Cute Bear

Today is another cold and snowy day...perfect for crafting.  I made this card for the What If? Wednesday  sketch challenge at The House That Stamps Built. I used a Bear Repeat Impressions Stamp for my focus image,  I stamped the Cute Bear with Memento Rich Cocoa and colored with Copics E35,37, and 51. After cutting with a Nesties circle die, I sponged the edge with distress ink and attached it to  a beaded circle die cut of red cardstock. I used GKD Brown cardstock for the card base and layered with a strip of Polka Dot Pattern Paper. I finished with a red wired  ribbon tied in a bow. The ribbon  was saved from a Christmas gift.

My day was starting fine until my computer died....would not turn on after suddenly shutting down.  My DH took it in to the Geek Squad who pronounced it DOA from a fried Motherboard probably due to old age.  I am so glad that I have Carbonite that saves all my file. Now I am shopping for a new computer.

Treat Yourself to Watermelon

A favorite treat for summer is cold watermelon on a hot day. So before fall arrives, maybe one more card featuring a melon is in store for some challenges.  I stamped the Watermelon from Repeat Impressions Stamps with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white cardstock and colored with Copics G21,82,85, R22,24 and used a black glaze pen on the seeds. I cut the image with Nesties oval die and layered on a black scalloped oval  cut with nesties scallop oval die. For the background I used a mat of red and white check pattern paper embossed with Cuttlebug EF Wicker Weave. Card base is white cardstock with a layer of black cardstock topped with the layer of  check and image.  Added some black satin ribbon with bow and small green buttons to finish. Love and Hugs

Second post today.  This card was made using the Sketch #S413 from Repeat Impressions shown below. I used Repeat Impressions stamps Tulips in a Vase stamped with Memento Espresso Truffle ink and their sentiment. I paper pieced the vase but I think it came out a little busy with the pattern paper. I also embossed the background with a Cheery Lynn Flourish die for some texture but not that happy with the outcome. This is one of those cards that I may do a redo. But it is what it is. I colored the image with Copics RV000, RV11, G21 and G40. Memento Bamboo Leaves ink was used for the sentiment. Other supplies: Nesties circle, scallop circle, oval, and scallop oval dies. Green, Pink, and Ivory Cardstocks from stash, and a scrap of pattern paper.

Pattern Papers + Stamp + Ink = Card

Hello again. I am back today with a card for 2 challenges.  I am using a sketch from Flutter by Wednesday challenge.  I used some pattern paper as inspiration for this card.  The pattern papers are from My Mind's Eye paper pad Lost & Found.  I simply adhered a mat of light colored pattern to a card base of light pink card stock.  I then cut sections of  a pattern paper with the bird and sentiment and arranged with a strip of a darker floral pattern following the design of the sketch.  I placed a square of a script pattern paper to a light pink mat and stamped that with a butterfly stamp from Repeat Impressions using Memento Rose Bud ink.  I attached that at a slight angle to the card to make more interesting.  I did some dry embossing on large mat with Cuttlebug EF Polka Dots.

Shades of Gray

Today I am covering 2 challenges with this card....the Designer's Choice DCC73 at The House That Stamps Built to create a monochrome card and the Less Is More Challenge to create a CAS card in Shades of Gray.  I am hoping the card has enough "Gray" space to qualify as  CAS!

I stamped Repeat Impressions Great Blue Heron with Memento Gray Flannel ink on a mottled gray cardstock and added some shading with Copics N 0, 2, 4,7 and some highlights with a White Gel pen. I trimmed the corners with EK Success corner punch. I assembled the card base of dark gray, a mat of lighter gray and another mat of the darker gray under the image.  All papers from stash.  The sentiment used is from Flourishes. This was an easy peasy card...clean lines, minimal elements, areas of grey space and no embellishments.

Challenges:
Designer's Choice DCC73: Monochrome
Less Is More: Shades of Grey

Tulips for a Sketch

Today I made a card with my favorite color combo Pink and Green and also used a favorite technique of coloring with Copics.  I love making cards with a flower theme and this is made with a favorite flower - Tulips.  I am using a sketch shown below from the challenge What If? Wednesday from The House That Stamps Built.  The stamp is Repeat Impressions "Vase of Tulips" that I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on GKD White Cardstock. I colored with Copics and cut with a Nesties Circle die with the vase hanging outside the circle and sponged with Distress Ink Spun Sugar before removing from the die.  I paper pieced the vase with a scrap from a paper that I made using the shaving cream technique. Using scraps of pattern paper,  I assembled the elements on a card base  of GKD Grass Green Cardstock.  I used Nesties Square dies to cut the pattern papers.  I embellished  with a Pink Satin Ribbon.  What a fun sketch and a great stamp!

Spring Blossoms

Welcome to my studio!  Yesterday I went to Adventures in Stamping at Akron and enjoyed seeing new products, creative ideas, and friends.  And of course I had to buy some new toys. At Repeat Impressions I said hello to Wendy who is behind those great challenges at The House That Stamps Built.  I bought their stamp Spring Blossoms which I used for the card posted here.  Love this stamp because it has 3 of my fave flowers. I used her sketch to create this card for What If? Wednesday Sketch Challenge #A1713.  I stamped the flowers on a white CS with Memento Espresso Truffle and colored with Copics and then trimmed to a triangle shape leaving the petals to spill beyond the edges. I used a GKD Green Grass Card stock for the card base embossing the front with a  Darice embossing folder Flower Frenzy (bought yesterday). I added a panel of SU Brilliant Blue CS and the image of Spring Flowers.  To finish I added a sentiment stamped with Versamark and embossed with Green EP.  This was cut with a Spellbinders Fancy Tag die.  Added a bit of bling from stash.
Copics: B21,24,26, BV0000,04,08, G0000, 21,82, Y000,06,11, YR02

Thinking Warmer Thoughts

We have had more snow here in Ohio but my thoughts have shifted to the beach and warmer temps in this card.  I am trying to use some unused stamps and decided to use this sandcastle stamp which inspired me to create a summer card. I used the Sketch Challenge from What If? Wednesday. To add interest to the strips on the design, I used 3 different EF's instead of 3 colors or DP's. I also added a strip of flock to represent sand and a starfish charm.
