Summer Flowers

Hello and welcome my friends.  This card that I am showing was made with Gina K Designs supplies. I stamped the floral image from Wildflowers bundle with black ink on watercolor paper and water colored with Gina K inks Medium Carnation, Passionate Pink, Fresh Asparagus and Medium Spruce. I die cut the image using die from the same bundle. I attached the image to an embossed pattern paper from GKD Watercolor Floral paper pad with some foam tape. I used Cuttlebug EF Victoria for the embossing that I distressed with a bit of sandpaper. Attached this to a white cardcase. Stamped the sentiment from GKD Rose Bouquet set with Passionate Pink ink on a die cut circle of white matted with a pink circle to complete the design. Circle dies from Spellbinders.

Thinking of You

Welcome to my studio.  Today I am sharing a card that I made for the Monthly Mix Challenge at Gina K Designs.  We are to make a Black and White card with a pop of one other color.  I used a floral stamp from GKD Whimsical Wildflowers set that I stamped with Black Ink and water colored with GKD Medium Carnation and Passionate Pink inks. The sentiment also stamped with black ink is from GKD Pretty Posy.   I inked the edges of the stamped panel with a Black Copic marker instead of using a cardstock mat before attaching to a White Cardstock base.  Finished by adding some Black Crystals to the center of the flowers.

Spring Flowers

Hello!  I am trying to enter some current challenges before the deadlines.  I made this spring garden card with stamps from Gina K Designs Whimsical Flowers.  I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on watercolor paper and colored with a water brush using Distress Oxide Inks Abandoned Coral, Spiced Marmalade, Peeled Paint, and Cracked Pistachio.  I stamped the sentiment with Peeled Paint.  Added a coral grosgrain ribbon. Used GKD  Peach Bellini card stock for the card base.

Happy Flowers

Hello!  I was inspired by a sketch from Less Is More Challenge in creating this card.   I used stamps from Happy Little Stampers Doodled Flowers set and circle dies.  After stamping the flowers with Distress Oxide Inks on White CS, I water colored them with a water brush and the DOI's. Used Picked Raspberry, Fossilized Amber, and Fired Brick which goes nicely with the Pink Card Base that I chose.  Arranged the elements following the sketch and added some Dew Drops to complete the card.

Circle of Tulips

Hello!  I was inspired by a challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketch to create a card with Watercolor, Blue, and a theme of kindness but I posted too late to enter.  I also used the Sketch challenge at Just Add Ink so will enter that challenge.  The card was made with a Repeat Impressions stamp Vase of Tulips but I only used a portion of the stamp.  I stamped the image on watercolor paper and colored with Distress Oxide Inks using a water brush.  I die cut the image with a circle die and adhered to another die cut circle of watercolor paper that I colored with the blue DOI.  I cut a strip of the watercolor paper edged with Blue CS stamped with a Power Poppy sentiment, and attached to a White Card Base.  I like the finished results of the contrast of the watercolor paper elements with the white CS.

Life is But a Dream

Hello!  I have been playing with the August Hero Arts kit that I received on Monday.   Just for fun, I created this dreamy, celestial theme card using the fancy window cut die and stamps from the kit.  I created a watercolor background with watercolor paper inked with Distress Oxide ink Faded Jeans and Salt.  Hope the effects of the salt can be seen in the photo. Stamped the star with Distress Ink Fossilized Amber and added some shine with Clearstar pen and Metallic Gold Gelly pen.

Covered Bridge Drive

Do you have memories of beautiful summer days driving through country roads and covered bridges?  What great times they would be ....carefree and lazy....without a worry in the world.  This scene reminds of one of those times.  I stamped the image with Repeat Impressions Covered Bridge stamp using a light brown ink on watercolor paper and water colored with distress inks using a water brush.  I won't go in to all the details of how I did the coloring but I did do repeated stampings using the Misti throughout the process.  I colored this panel a few weeks ago after studying some water color techniques online and it has been on my desk waiting for further attention.  I finally decided to simply trim the panel and adhere to a mat of Khaki CS and a base of GKD Green CS. Stamped a portion of a Repeat Impression sentiment with Memento Rich Cocoa ink to finish as a card.

Life at the Beach

Hello!  My card today was created with a photo that I made at the beach on Captiva Island last year.  I thought it would make a great card with a few enhancements made with Photoshop making the photo appear as a watercolor.  I printed the photo on watercolor paper after doing some editing and eliminating the blackbirds. (see original photo below)  I added some color highlights using color pencils on the sand, beach,  umbrellas,  and chairs.  I stamped a GKD sentiment with Memento Espresso Truffle ink and adhered the image to a GKD card stock to finish.   I really enjoy creating cards with my own photos as well as stamping and coloring images.  I hope this card is considered for the challenges that I am entering even though it was made with only one sentiment stamp.

Happy Memories

Hello! My card today was inspired by the Photo/Color Inspiration challenge at The House That Stamps Built. I created my background on watercolor paper using Distress Inks and a Water brush. Using Repeat Impressions stamps I added the sentiment with SU ink. This panel was attached to patterned paper and the an Ivory Card Base. I was trying to achieve a look of a tropical sunset that brings back Happy Memories (inspired by the photo).

Snowfall

Welcome!  I am staying with a Cold theme in today's card.  I stamped Repeat Impressions' Pine Forest on a Water Color panel with Distress Inks and used a water brush to color in details and sky. I used a Flourishes sentiment with another Distress Ink and added snow fall with pearl drops.   I wanted my scene to reflect a snowfall that was just beginning. I die cut the image and placed on a card base embossed with a Darice Snowflake EF.

Poppies for Christmas

Hello! My second card today has the theme of Thinking Of You but I added an inside message that makes it a Christmas card for a special person.  I printed a digital image of Poppies by Crafty Secrets on Watercolor paper and colored with a water brush and Distress Inks.  I added a sentiment from Gina K Designs with Memento Tuxedo Black that I embossed with Clear EP.  I simply finished with a layer of Black CS and a card base of Green CS.  I finished the inside saying "With Love This Christmas Season" (printed on computer) and stamped another sentiment with Gina K Stamps.

Covered Bridge in the Fall

 

Hello! I have been watching a lot of videos of water coloring techniques. Although you can not always control the results of water coloring it is always fun to see the end results and knowing when to stop.   On this card I used the Misti to stamp with a Heartfelt Creations stamp on watercolor paper using multi colors of Distress inks and stamping multiple times and also using a water brush to spread the colors and layer on more color.  I made this scene become a fall scene even though the stamp has bare tree branches by adding multi color leaves on the tree and on the ground. I started out making the covered bridge  aged wood tones but changed it to an aged red color.  This card was somewhat a mix of stamping with inks and water coloring-not sure what to call it.  But I caught that abstract, impressionist look that I wanted. After I finished the stamping and water coloring, I added Versamark  ink to the clean stamp and stamped again and heat embossed with Clear EP. This step helped set the colors. I then sponged on some more blue to the sky.

I die cut the image, added a layer of craft foam to the back and assembled the card on a base of Grass Green CS, a layer of GKD pattern paper that picked up the colors of the leaves, and  another layer of green that was stamped with words from Repeat Impressions Vertical stamps heat embossed with Copper EP.  I like the way the pattern paper frames the image and sentiment.

Falling Leaves

Hello!  The leaves have being falling really fast with the rain and wind that we have had in the last few days.  Just waiting for them to dry before raking begins. But in the meantime, I made this card with falling leaves.  I used SU More Mustard, Old Olive, and Really Rust Reinkers and Ink pads with an old PSX Leaf Stamp and a GKD Splatter stamp.  I also did some water coloring on the leaves with a water brush and added some gold to the edges with a Pilot Gold Marker The MFP Stamp was heat embossed with Gold EP. A Grass Green card base and a layer of pattern paper from my stash finished the card.

Fall Scene at the Cabin

Welcome!  I really love playing with watercolor projects but do not do as often as I would like.  The fun part of water coloring is not always knowing what the results may be,  but I do like the way this cabin scene with fall trees turned out.
I used Gina K Stamps with SU Close as Cocoa ink on water color paper.  Using a small flower stamp, I stamped several colors on to the bare trees and ground.  I used a water brush to color in the various colors on the trees until I achieved the look  of fall leaves that I wanted.  Using the watercolor brush I colored in the cabin and the surrounding area including the other trees and bushes.   I especially like the look of the "slate" roof achieved with the water brush and a gray ink.  I usually use Distress inks when water coloring but used SU and Memento inks this time.  I do hope I have enough "white space" for this to qualify for CAS.  To maintain this as a CAS card, I did not use any embellishments to keep it clean and simple.

Summer Flowers

Hello! Hydrangeas will soon be blooming!  I made this card using an old PSX stamp that I stamped with Versamark on Watercolor Paper and heat embossed with Black EP and colored with a water brush.  I used Distress Ink Peeled Paint and SU Lovey Lilac, Brocade Blue, and Artichoke (sentiment) inks.  The sentiment is from Power Poppy.
I used Purple CS for the base and mats of Green and Light Blue CS.

Christmas with Penguins

Welcome!  No, I am not ready for snow but these Penguins like snow and are dressed
ready for Christmas.  Since I was doing water coloring this week, I decided to do another Card with penguins that I water colored with Water Color Pencils and Distress Inks using a watercolor brush. This digital stamp from Pollycraft was printed on watercolor paper. I added some glitter with Sakura Clear Star pen and inked the edge of the image with Red Marker and attached to an Snowflake embossed Pattern Paper from Crate Paper Snowy Day Pad. The sentiment is from Creative Clear Stamps.
