Snow Scene

Welcome! Another cold day in Ohio. It's 14 degrees this morning but feels like 10.  It's a good day to post a card that was inspired by the Inspiration Palette challenge at The House That Stamps Built. As I tend to do sometimes,  I almost recreated the scene in the photo. I used DOI to sponge a background on white cardstock and stamped a tree line with 2 Repeat Impressions stamps Large Pine Forest and Bass Harbor Light (used the large trees portion only).  I stamped the center trees first with Memento Black ink and then stamped again with Memento Cottage Ivy ink.  The trees on the left were stamped only with green to get a different dimension. I used a scrap of watercolor cardstock on the lower part of the card for snow.  Added some falling snowflakes and snow drifts with Snow Marker. The sentiment from my stash was inked with Memento London Fog.  The Rose card base is a textured cardstock by Neenah, a bargain from Tuesday Morning.

Welcome! Today I am sharing a couple of creations that could be use as hanging ornaments or tags on gifts.  They both were made with Repeat Impressions stamps from the Ornament and Snow globes set.  I used circle dies for cutting.  The top tag with the scene of a moose in the snow was stamped with Memento ink and Versamark  and colored with pencils and Copics, Added some sparkle with Diamond Crystal Stickles. The base was heat embossed with gold EP.  Added a Green satin ribbon.

The next tag with Candy Canes was stamped with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Red EP.  I added a frame of Red CS die cut with circle dies and added the stickles for sparkle. Finished with a White satin ribbon for hanging.

Sparkly Trees

Hello! How quickly November went by!  My card today was made with a lot of glitter!  I used a tree stamp from Gina K Designs Northwoods set which I actually stamped twice in the background with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Clear EP but that layer got lost when I stamped the trees with green Memento inks in the foreground and added a layer of Crystal Glitter using a double sided adhesive paper.  So much for my original design.....the card evolved into another look.  To the glittery image,I added a frame of green handmade textured paper from my stash and adhered to a white card base.  Finished with sentiment embossed with silver EP that I fussy cut.

Winter Wonderland

Hello!  I have had an idea  for the challenge at The Library for awhile since the photo was posted on October 28 but never executed until this morning.  I had immediately thought of an old stamp of a winter scene  that would tie in with the book The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.  My card depicts the entrance into the snowy winter forest of Narnia with a lamppost. This is where the 4 children find the lion, the rightful ruler and king of Narnia, who I included in my card.
I stamped the Winter Scene stamp (Mark's Finest Papers Ice & Snow) on white card stock with DOI Frayed Burlap and added snow and glitter with a couple different Stickles, Liquid Pearls. and a Snow Marker.  The crystal stickles gave a golden glow to the trees and snow.  I wanted to have a feel of fantasy to the scene.  The lamppost was stamped with a Hero Arts stamp and the sentiment was from MFP set Ice and Snow. Added the fussy cut lion that I printed from Silhouette with My Cameo.  Other supplies: Versamark Ink, Gold EP, Metallic Gold CS(base), Memento Black Ink, Yellow Copic.
Challenges:
613 Avenue Create: Challenge #215 Anything Goes with Optional Twist Christmas/Winter.

Visit to the North Pole

Welcome to snowy North Pole!  I created this scene with stamps and dies from Hero Arts October kit.  I began with a light blue card base and spritzed the top edge with Gold Shimmer Mist for a snowy sky.  The Mountain layer, die cut from White CS,  was sponged with Distress Oxide Ink Iced Spruce  and snow was added with Marvy Snow Marker (new for me).   Snow was also added to the "street" and  the die cut buildings colored with Copics.  Finished with sentiment, trees and lamppost.

A Chilly Time on the Prairie

Yes it is COLD!!! And I was inspired by a photo challenge at The House That Stamps Built to create this card.  My card is a bit reminiscent of the House on the Prairie.  When I saw the inspiration photo below, I immediately thought of some Repeat Impressions stamps that I have not used since I bought them a few weeks ago.  I pulled out the Log Cabin, Shade of the Elm (tree), Clouds and sentiment stamps and began with a Blue CS panel.  Using the technique of masking  I stamped the cabin and 2 elm trees (minus the chairs and shade) with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and stamped and embossed the clouds with Brilliance Moonlight White ink and White Puff EP.   I colored the cabin and trees with brown pencils and a yellow glaze pen.  I then played with Liquid Pearls and Frosted Lace Stickles to get the snowy effect that I wanted. I also sponged some white on the sky.  I liked the card at this point and made a photo shown above.  But then I stamped a sentiment "Time To Chill Out" with a cloud just for a bit of Humor. I fussy cut and temporarily  attached the sentiment  to the card for a second photo below.   I am not sure if I will use with or without a sentiment.  Any Thoughts?
I finished with a Bright Blue Mat on a Card Base of Chocolate Brown.

Winter Snow

Hello! The fall of snow is a Wonderful thing...at least when there is not too much of it.
I love creating with this old PSX stamp named Christmas Village  and have used with several techniques.  This time I simply stamped with black ink on white CS and colored with pencils and sponged the sky with blue ink.  Added some Stickles Frosted Lace for the snow and sparkle. I framed the scene with a border of Black CS and attached to a card base of Dark Green CS.  The Peeny Black sentiment was stamped in Black Ink and heat embossed with Clear EP.

Fuzzy Bear and Frosty the Snowman

Hello!  I have been playing with the technique that you emboss cardstock with an embossing folder inked with Versamark and then heat emboss it with EP.  I tried this with the Snowflakes EF from Darice with Silver EP.   I used this as a background behind a fussy cut Snowman holding a Bear that I stamped and colored with Copics and markers on white CS.  The image is popped up with foam tape and has great dimension in real life.  I finished with a wintery sentiment from Creative Clear stamps in red ink and Sakura Glitter Pen. Also used some stickles, liquid pearl, glaze pens, red glitter glue.

Challenges:
Merry Monday Christmas Challenge:  # 183 Use candy cane with your card.  The bear is holding a candy cane.
Retro Rubber: Challenge 29 Holiday Spirit,  The Snowman and Bear stamp called Fuzzy Bear is a PSX design from 1999.  I have used it for many years.

Tuesday Throwdown: #273 Snowflakes

First Snow of the Season

I am back today with pictures of our first snow fall in North Canton, OH.
This is the snow that greeted us this morning which was a very wet snow and laid heavily on the trees and shrubbery.   You can see in the first picture that we still  have some fall leaves remaining on the trees. How is your weather?

Another Winter Scene

Today I am sharing a Tri-shutter card that I have made for the monthly challenge at Craft A Scene. I am showing 3 views of the card...the card completely opened at the top, a view partly opened, and a view completely closed for placing in the envelope.  This was not a quick card and took a lot of time planning how to scale and size the digis that I used before printing them.  The digis that I used are from Digi Doodles that is no longer in business but I love the 2 snow scenes that I used. I used "Snow Scene" for the center of the card and for the two panels on each side I used parts that I cropped from "Winter Snow Bird".   I am showing the 2 digis below.  After printing the images, I colored with Copics and added white stickles for snow and crystal stickles for the water stream. I also used a Darice EF Clouds in the sky that I also sponged with Memento Summer Sky ink.   I was able to do the images on the first try (how lucky was that?) using Photoshop Elements for sizing the images to match the panels that I needed to create the Tri-Shutter card.  It took time to color and add the stickles but I was very pleased with the results. I used Bazzill blue cardstock for the card base. The sentiment is stamped with Memento Espresso Truffle and is from MFP's Greeting of the Season Stamp set.

In addition to the Craft A Scene's Winter theme challenge using a Tri- Shutter card, I am entering these challenges:
Oldie But a Goodie: Winter... the digis and stamp are over 6 months old.
Charisma Cardz Challenge: Anything Goes
Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra: Anything Goes for Christmas
Alphabet Challenge: W is for Whatever You Wish: My card includes a wish for "Peace On Earth"

I enjoy all your comments. Thank you. Theresa

It's Been Snowing A Lot

Hello! I know I've been missing in action for a few days on my blog.  Today I decided I needed to take time and post a card for some challenges.  This card is a winter scene using the Winter Postcard stamp from Stampendous but I trimmed off the postcard part and just used the snowy scene.  I also added more trees to the left and right of the original scene and some deer grazing on the snow covered lawn using some small stamps from Mark's Finest Papers.  Also added a flock of birds in the sky with a black marker.  After stamping the scene on white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, I colored with pencils and then added white stickles to the snowy areas and a crystal stickles to the Holly leaves. Placed some red rhinestones on the leaves for sparkle. Also added more snow to the trees with a white glaze pen. I used a Red CS Mat cut with oval nesties to showcase the scene and added it to an embossed green Card Base ...I angled the oval a bit on the card just because I liked it that way.  The embossing on the card base was done with Darice Snowflake EF and  inked with Brilliance Moonlight White ink.  I think this card captures the snowy wintery weather that we have been experiencing in Ohio.
This card was mainly inspired by the challenge at Craft a Scene to make a card with a winter scene but I did not use the option of making a Tri-shutter card...may do one later.

Challenges:
Craft a Scene: Winter Scene
The Glory of Christmas: Theme is snow. I used the inside to add my Christmas greeting.
Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge: Whatever is urgent to make. I felt I needed to use this stamp for another card.
Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra: Anything goes for Christmas
Simon Says Wednesday: Bling it on! Sparkle in my stickles and rhinestones
Paper Pretties: Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

It's hard to believe Christmas is almost here! I enjoy all your comments. Thank you. Theresa

Deer Visits a Snowy Cottage

I am back with another snowy cottage for the challenge at Craft a Scene  This time I have used 6 stamps from GKD "Life is Good" Set by Theresa Momber. I used the triple time stamping technique and a sketch from Speedy Fox Challenge.  The stamping was done with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored with Copics with a bit of sponging with Brilliance Moonlight White and Memento Summer Sky. I extended the walk to the bottom edge of the card  Added a bit of stickles to highlight the snow. This time I remember to start a roaring fire in the fireplace of the cottage resulting in smoke from the chimney. I like the way this turned out using the triple time stamping. After adhering the dark brown card base and brown cardstock mats with the image layers, I stamped the deer again, cut it out, and glued it to the top to make it stand out more.  I finished with a sentiment in brown ink.

Challenges:
Craft a Scene: Theme is a scene with a snowy cottage. 2nd Entry
MFP Sketch With a Twist Challenge #30: Use sketch shown below and with a twist of using layers.
All Sorts: Create masculine card.

Do you wonder what is the definition of a cottage?  I wanted to be sure this image fit the challenge so I check the definition. A cottage is a small simple, single-storied house, especially in the country, typically one near a lake or beach. I think this image is just right.

I enjoy all your comments. Thank you. Theresa
