Buttons on My Tag

Hello!  I have so many buttons in my craft stash and I love when I find any use for them.  I keep saying I am going to make some jewelry with some of them but never have.  But I did use some of them on a tag that I am entering in Tag You're It! Challenge #96 which inspired me to pull out some square buttons featuring flowers and one has a butterfly.  I believe I receive these in a Blog Candy or maybe found in a garage sale. Not sure!  I found a dotted pattern paper with some glitter effects that I thought was perfect as a background for the buttons.  I shaped my own tag design using my trimmer and some corner punches.  Stamped words on a ivory panel with GKD Fresh Asparagus ink using stamps from GKD Tropical Flowers set. Sewed on the buttons with green twine found in my leftovers.  The bit of twine was just enough for the tag.  Finished with a round pink button and the last of the twine for attaching the tag to a gift. (I colored the button with a Copic marker to better coordinate with the colors.) Used foam tape to adhere the two panels together.

Warm Winter Wishes

Hello! Back with more Buttons.  This time I have created a holiday card with a Button Snowman.  I created a background with Blue CS stamped and embossed with Silver Snowflakes( GKD stamps).  Trimmed White CS to make a snowy hill that I stamped and embossed with Warm Winter Wishes (GKD stamp) and added some Frosted Lace stickles for a bit of sparkle. The Snowman is 2 buttons from my button stash, backed with black cardstock scrap, topped with a hat that I drew and fussy cut, and wrapped with a warm scarf of ribbon.  Used a White card base to finish.  Fun card to build!

Who Is Amazing?

Hello! Or should I say Whoo! Whoo!
I am not sure what inspired this card with the Owl and Trees, but I pulled out the Jane's Doodles stamp set Wise Owl and began to play with it.  I decided to use colors Gray, Yellow, Kraft and White from the Color Throwdown challenge.  Made a background of Trees with Memento ink on white CS.  Stamped the Owl on Kraft, Yellow, and Gray CS's and fussy cut and paper pieced the pieces to shape the Owl that I sat on the stamped branch.  Finished with some Baby Button eyes and the sentiment stamped in Yellow and Kraft inks. Placed on Yellow card base.

Buttons and Bow Birthday

Hello!  I have a lot of ribbon, buttons, and pattern papers in my stash so I decided to use these items to create this square birthday card.  It seems that I use less ribbon and buttons these days....how about you?
I  cut a Pattern Paper from Graphic 45 A Ladies Diary pad (have been hoarding this paper) with a Cheery Lynn English Tea Party Doily.  I placed this on a square Ivory CS that I embossed with Embossalicious Diesire Splendor EF.  I layered this with more of the Ivory CS that I edged with a Copic Marker BG72. To finish I added Happy Birthday cut with Cheery Lynn dies, a handmade bow of Ivory Grosgrain Ribbon, and some buttons that I thought were perfect for the corners.  Buttons were saved from an old dress.

Using Those Many Scraps

As I mentioned yesterday,  I am trying to use some of the many scraps and supplies that I have accumulated in my studio.  Yesterday I saw a tutorial on Operation Write Home about making a Dimensional Ruffle card and thought this would use a lot of those pattern paper scraps from 6x6 paper pads and be a fun way to use up a lot of those 6" Strips as well as some of my button stash.
I used Martha Stewart scallop dot border punch, scraps from MME, ivory card base and coral cardstock, ribbon and buttons from stash.  I have about one hundred of the pearl buttons and colored some to match my card. Tip:  I used one length of twine and looped all the buttons together which made it easy to arrange and attach to the card using Matte Accents.  The sentiment is from Poppy Power Azaleas stamp set in Memento Peanut Brittle ink on a circle of ivory cardstock  and matted on another scrap.

Challenges that I found to enter:
Craft Your Passion: Pretty pastels
Craft Catz Weekly: B is for.....used buttons and borders.

Bouquet with Buttons and Bow

For this card I chose the 7 Gypsies  pattern paper  for the background and then used it for the inspiration to color the image of Tulip Bouquet by Repeat impressions.  I stamped the flowers on ivory CS with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copics R00,20,22, B000,01, Y21, YG91,93,95.  I assembled my card following Repeat Impressions sketch #A214 using green CS for the card base and mats adding ribbons, bow, and pearl buttons with yellow twine.  Since I ended up hiding so much of the lovely designs in the pattern I cut 2 of the floral bouquets from the paper with a circle Nesties die and added with the sentiment. Love and Hugs was a portion of a Repeat Impressions sentiment that I stamped with Memento Olive Green ink and cut with an oval die.
Challenges:
The House That Stamps Built: Repeat Impressions Sketch #214 shown above

Typing My Thanks

A few weeks ago,  I won the DIY Shop Collection by Crate Paper.  It is so easy to create cards using the great papers, diecuts, stickers and other embellies from this collection.  Today I have a card made with a die cut of a Vintage typewriter paired with letter stickers and pattern paper. Added a button with twine from my stash to finish. Cut a window from the pattern paper with a square Nestie and popped up the cut out in the center on an inset of ivory cs with pop up foam.
I used a sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch for my layout.

Thanks a Bunch with Flowers

Welcome! This card was made using a sketch from Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge #246  in which we had a choice between 2 sketches shown below. I chose the one on the right in the graphic.  I did something that I do not remember doing before....I chose not to color the stamped image because I thought it looked so good on the layered pattern papers just stamped with Memento Espresso Truffle ink.  I think this looks very contemporary in an elegant way.  I used Flourishes stamps from Dahlias and Zinnias (sentiment). I added a satin ribbon and button from my collection to complete the card.

Other Supplies:
Papers: GKD Ivory Cardstock, All Patterns from Webster Pages Park Drive Pad
Dies: Nesties Squares and Flourishes Tag by SB

Other challenges:
Simon Says Wednesday: Thanks or Thansgiving
Paper Pretties: Give Thanks
Fussy and Fancy: Cream and Brown

Thanks for all your comments. I love hearing from you.

A Try at Mixed Media

Another challenge at SCS for the Hope That You Can Cling To Campaign is to create a card using Mixed Media. I had to do research on just what that is considered ....I read that mixed media tends to refer to a work of visual art that combines various traditionally distinct visual art media - a work that combines paint, ink, and other materials such as paper, metal. wood, shells, fabrics, and "found objects"-  a combination of two or more primary artistic mediums combined in a single piece of artwork or a card in this case. For my card I "mixed" a printed image, distress inks, versamark, embossing powder,  a button ( matched the design in feathers), some seam binding, and a piece of mesh (found objects).  I used distress inks to create the background on which I stamped and embossed the sentiment and then double sponged on a darker ink. To make this more vintage, I distressed edges of image with ink and used distress tool on the mat.  This may not be as complicated and layered with textures as most mixed media items but think it will pass as a mixed media card.
Challenges:
Sugar Creek Hollow: Theme Birds of a Feather.  I may have missed having a nest on my card since I was concentrating on the birds.

Supplies:
Digi: Graphics Fairy
Stamps: MFP Sentiment, Annabelle Stamps Love
Inks: Distress Inks Crushed Olive, Broken China, Aged Mahogany, Tea Dye, Antique Linen, Versamark
Papers: Slate Blue, White CS
Clear EP
Distressing Tool
From Stash: Antique Metal Button, Mesh Scrap, Seam Binding Tape

Treat Yourself to Watermelon

A favorite treat for summer is cold watermelon on a hot day. So before fall arrives, maybe one more card featuring a melon is in store for some challenges.  I stamped the Watermelon from Repeat Impressions Stamps with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white cardstock and colored with Copics G21,82,85, R22,24 and used a black glaze pen on the seeds. I cut the image with Nesties oval die and layered on a black scalloped oval  cut with nesties scallop oval die. For the background I used a mat of red and white check pattern paper embossed with Cuttlebug EF Wicker Weave. Card base is white cardstock with a layer of black cardstock topped with the layer of  check and image.  Added some black satin ribbon with bow and small green buttons to finish. Sentiment is also from Repeat Impressions. All items used were from my stash.
Challenges:
The House That Stamps Built: Designer's Choice Challenge 911-Food Happy

Simon Says: Emboss it...I used Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Wicker Weave

Have a Happy Summer Birthday

Another post for today!   Been doing a lot of challenges since it is too hot to do much outside.   When I saw Sassy Cheryl's Digi Stamps Challenge "Hat's On",  I immediately thought of one of her older digis that I think I got as a freebie when I began collecting Digital images.  This girl was perfect with her big hat and I colored her in summer colors taken from the pattern paper from MME's Happy Day paper pack.  I used a sketch shown below from Tuesday Morning Sketches ...they have 4 sketches to choose from this week celebrating their 4th birthday.
 I am also entering:
Shopping Our Stash Challenge #109- use summer colors or summer theme.
One Stop Craft Challenge: Summer Colours.

A Baby's Smile

This is  a second entry for this week Sugar Creek Hollow challenge to make a vintage card with the theme Baby Face.  I found this image in my search for baby images at Creative Joy-Scrapglede  and just had to make a card with it using items from my stash of old scrap booking supplies that I had laying on the desk from my earlier card.  I added distressing with distress inks and distress tool and added ribbons, button, and lace to finish. The stamped sentiment is from GKD and stamped in Memento  Espresso Truffle ink.  All supplies from stash.

Guess Who This Baby Is?

Morning! I have a fun card to share today.  This week the challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is BABY FACE and they want us to make vintage or shabby chic baby cards .  I searched the web for vintage baby pictures to use and found several great ones.  But when I told my DH what I was searching for, he said why not used the baby picture on our dresser?  Duh! Why did I not think of that picture.....it is surely vintage enough. (Sorry, DH).  The baby boy is my DH and he remembers having the picture made and the little dog that he is holding.  He was not a happy little guy about posing and was fussing and crying. The photographer gave him the dog to hold and that calmed him down enough to sit still and smile for this adorable photograph. This was a little moment in his life but a treasured memory.

Back to my card.....after scanning the picture and printing on card stock, I trimmed the picture with an oval die and aged the image a bit more with Distress Ink Antique Linen.  I assembled the card with a sand color card base and pattern papers background  that I distressed with ink and distress tool.  I placed the image on a scallop oval mat and added  punched bears, buttons, ribbons, duck embellishment and stickers. The baby theme papers, stickers, and embellishments were found in some  leftover stash from scrap booking days.  Everything used in this card was from my collection of supplies.

Challenges:
Sugar Creek Hollow: Theme is Baby Face
Clear It Out Challenge: Theme: anything goes.   Stash: 2 or more buttons
