Stand Up Card

Hello!  I made this stand up card with one fold for Joan's Touch Challenge.  Her requirements this week are :
Cut one part of an image so it is standing above the card.
Use card stock for color.
Add a sentiment.
Use a product sold at Joan's Gardens.

Complete instructions and measurements are on Joan's post here.
I began with a yellow cardstock 7.5" X 4.25" that I purchased in a pack from Joan's Garden.  I used the Cameo to partially cut my image ...the easy way to cut ....and then stamped the Dahlias on the cutout using Stamp-a-majig to line up. I added some shading to the Flowers with Copic Markers. I used Flourishes Stamps and Memento  Espresso Truffle and Rich Cocoa inks. Memento inks are sold at Joan's Gardens.
The hardest part of this challenge was limiting my color to the card stock.  I hope I met the requirements. I will be doing another card for this challenge.

I enjoy all your comments. Thank you. Theresa

Summer Days Bring Butterflies

I am back....have been away from home and Internet connections so have missed cardmaking,  blogging and my blog friends.
Today I am sharing a Summer Time card that I made for Joan's Gardens challenge to use:
  • Die Cut image using the Negative
  • Colors of purple and white
  • Textured layer
  • Leaves
  • You must use a product sold at Joan's Gardens.
  • I started with a card base of White CS and used a mat of Purple CS using a Nesties Label 4 Die to create a negative cut to show thru to the base layer where I stamped a sentiment from Repeat Impressions with Memento Grape Jelly. I also used the dies to emboss around the sentiment. I also embossed the purple layer with Cuttlebug EF  Stylized Flowers for some texture.  I finished the card with a butterfly and the flourish with leaves. I cut these with Cheery Lynn dies Fanciful Flourish, Exotic Butterfly small #2, and Angel Wing. Cheery Lynn dies are available at Joan's Gardens. I created my own pattern paper for the butterfly by stamping white CS with Flourishes stamp "Lace Edges" with the Grape jelly ink and used white CS for the angel wing.

    Card Close to My Heart

This card is composed of die cut ovals, a handmade flower, a lovely bow, stitching, a lovely sentiment, lovely lavender and a touch of green. I am entering into 4 challenges:

No Matter Which Way Challenge has their final challenge which is Anything Goes and using a sentiment as your stamp is permitted.

The Ribbon Girl Blog's  Challenge is to simply Add a Bow.

My card follows all the guidelines for Joan's Gardens challenge  to use a plain background, a double oval, a sentiment, any color combination of at least 2, and must use a product sold at Joan's.  It was hard to keep the background plain....wanted to emboss or something.
    www.atjoansgardens.com

The challenge at Cheery Lynn Designs Blog is to follow the theme of IN STITCHES and use at least one Cheery Lynn Designs die. I did a faux stitching around the edge of the card with a green Gelly Roll pen. (hope faux is acceptable). I like my corner embellishments.

For this card I used Cheery Lynn Swedish Spring Oval Frame Nesties classic oval dies. I also used Cheery Lynn Ambergris small doily die which I cut into 4 parts to use as my corner embellishments. My flower was made using Cheery Lynn Build a Flower #1 and #2.  I used a flower making kit from Joan's. The Flower was made from scraps. The Cheery Lynn products can all be purchased at Joan's also.
The  card base is a White cardstock from stash and the Swedish Frame is cut from a shimmery iridescent white card stock which I hope shows in the photo. The lavender paper is from Joan's. I stamped a sentiment from Flourishes Heart Lines in Memento Sweet Plum ink on the lavender oval and finished with a Lavender Bow of sheer organza ribbon.

I hope you like this card. I enjoy all your comments. Thank you. Theresa

    Just for Joan's Gardens Challenge

Hello! I am posting this card that I made  for Joan's Garden Challenge.  We are to use polka dots , some vellum,  butterflies , any color combination , and use a product sold at Joan's Gardens. The pink cardstock for the base card is from a pack of Pastel Fashion colors purchased from Joan's Gardens. I layered this with a mat of polka dot paper from MME's 6x6 Paper Pad and then topped it with part of a floral paper from MME's Indie Chic Paper Pad that I fussy cut .  I stamped the Sentiment (Spring Has Sprung set) by Flourishes with SU Always Artichoke ink on a scrap of Velum and attached it under the polka dot layer in a window cut with Nesties Label 4 Die.  I then attached with foam dots the 2 butterflies that are a double layer of pink cardstock and Velum.  The butterflies were cut with a Memory Box Pippi Butterfly Die that I won from Joan's.
Check out the challlenge and products  at  www.atjoansgardens.com

It is fun how easily a card can be built with 3 papers, some scraps, and a couple of dies....and of course a stamp and ink.
I enjoy all your comments. Thank you. Theresa

    Thanks to Rita

This is a card that I made for Joan's Gardens Challenge but before I get in to that, I want to thank my friend and neighbor, Rita. Due to her, this card was made possible because I borrowed from her the die for the lattice, the stamp for the bird, and even the flower I think was punched with one of her punches.  I came across the punched flowers in a stash of precut flowers that I did some time ago and I think it was from a punch of Rita's.  The floral background was even from some scrap leftover from some cards we had made together for a club project.

Now back to the challenge. For Joan's Gardens Weekly Challenge #31 we are to use a framed lattice background , any type of flowers , a  bird , and a vertical greeting.  I think I have all the elements covered.  Used 3 layers for flower which I embossed with Clear EP and stacked with pop up dots and used unknown Black Brad for center. My card is sized 5" x 7" to better use the lattice.

    Supplies:
Stamps: Bird -All Night Media,  Vertical sentiment-Stampin' Up

    Copics B0000,01, YR 00
    Glaze Pens
Papers: White Glossy CS, Green Textured CS, Graphics 45 Scrap
Die: Cheery Lynn Lattice Die and Fanciful Flourish
    Unknown punch for Flowers
Versamark and Clear EP, White EP

Thanks, Rita for making this card possible. If I win anything, I will share.
I enjoy every one's comments. Thank you.  Theresa

    Another Christmas Mini Box

Hello...back for a second post. I had so much fun making a mini pizza box using Selma's directions found here that I had to make another one. This one is also made with BasicGrey Figgy Pudding papers for the box and band. I made the ornament with a Cuttlebug Die and Embossing Folder "For You" from Cranberry Tart and Green CS. Cut some branches from Gold Metallic CS with Sizzix "Branch" Die and attached to back of ornament. Finished with some Gems and Gold Metallic Ribbon Bow.
I know I will be making more of these neat boxes.

    Challenges;
Joan's Gardens: Use Selma's new technique for creating a box, use a band around the box, use Christmas Paper (Graphic 45 if possible), decorate the pull off band. Did have any 12x12 paper from Graphics 45.

Wee Memories: Challenge is handmade gifts, tags, and boxes.

BasicGrey Challenge: Anything Goes. Used paper from Figgy Pudding.

    Thanks for dropping by.

    Card of Hope and Awareness

Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, I included some pink in my card today.  I made this for the challenge at Joan's Garden - Create a card using something from nature, create a card using several layers, create a card using glitter, and create a card using a border around the card.  The hardest part of this card was using some glitter....glitter and I don't get along ....but I did an edge of glitter around the edge of the image with glue and loose glitter and also added some glitter to the flowers with a Sakura Clear Star pen which is hard to see. The Morning Glory stamp is from Flourishes "A Year in Flowers".  I thought the flower, butterfly  and the sentiment of "Hope" were all appropriate for this card.

    Monochrome Challenges

It took me longer to decide on the color and papers than it took to make this card for Joan's Gardens Challenge. Her challenge was to use an embossing folder, something die cut, something dimensional and
a monochromatic card with a splash of color. My splash of color is the copper embossing and ribbon which is very close to the color theme,  but I think is a contrast enough for the splash of color. I embossed the card with an embossed frame and sponged ink to highlight the design. Used a oval die cut for the sentiment that I attached with foam dots. Butterflies were punched from a designer paper and I added a touch of copper EP for the bodies and used a glaze pen to bring out some detail. Shaped and placed with glue dots. My finishing touch was the wired copper ribbon bow which was not in my original plan. Thanks to Selma for her inspiration card where I got the idea for butterflies.

    Birthday Card with Roses

One of the challenges that I look forward to each week is the one at Joan's Gardens. She has the most unique challenges. This week, she requires:
    • Window Top Card ( an opening in the top of the card with the design on the inside) • Add three colors of flowers for the focal point. • A Birthday card
I combined this with other challenges. I found my inspiration from a patterned paper from Webster's Pages that I received from Joan's. I cut the window with Spellbinders Blossom die in the front of the card...layered the pattern over the ivory card base before cutting . Cut a frame of the ivory CS for the outside and inside of the opening. Made 3 roses of different colors using Heartfelt Creations Grandiflora Rose stamps. Shaped flowers and added some glitter and finished with glitter domes in centers. Cut branches with leaves and arranged these with roses on the inside of card. Finished outside with sentiment and some green rhinestones.

    Challenges:
    Joan's Garden: Read above
    Tuesday Throwdown: Challenge is Florals
The ABC Challenge:  R is for Roses
Paper Pretties: Bring on some bling
    AllSorts Challenge:  Blooming Blossoms
    Charisma Cards: Bling and Sparkles
Shelly's Images: Get Punchy. Used 3 different dies.

    Supplies:
Stamps: HFC Grandiflora Precut stamps, GKD "Fanciful Tags"
Ink: SU Orchid Opulence, Tempting Turquoise, Brocade Blue, Memento Bamboo Leaves
Papers: Webster's Pages Santa and Sweet Season, GKD Ivory, Turquoise and Grass Green CS, Bazzill Blue and Lavender CS, Gold Parchment Paper
Spellbinder Blossom Dies and Fancy tags
    Sizzix Branch with Leaves Die

Wishing everyone a week full of roses without the thorns.

    Crochet Flowers by My Friend,Rita

I missed Joan's Garden Challenge last week but wanted to enter a card this week. I am very pleased with this birthday card.  Had some collaboration with my friend and neighbor, Rita, who crocheted these flowers on my card and I colored them with copics to match the card. These challenges called for self made or handmade flowers. These flowers are handmade but just not by my hands or myself. Is that bending the rules a bit? You know, I do not want to take credit for something I did not do but they were perfect for my card.

    Challenges:
Joan's Garden: 1. Use Coral/pink and Green for your colors 2. A Birthday Sentiment 3. Vintage Paper  4. Handmade or Punch flower.

Now for my project made with Heartfelt Creations Products from Joan's Gardens:
Nothing looks so lovely as a fresh cut bouquet of flowers, even if they are not real. I stamped the Daisy Patch Bouquet and individual Daisy Patch Flowers on white glossy cardstock with Versamark and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I colored the bouquet by first masking the flowers and sponging the leaves with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink. Then I masked the leaves and sponged Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink on the flowers. Rubbed off the excess ink from the embossed surfaces and added some yellow to the centers with Copic Y02. I also colored the individual flowers in the same manner. I cut out the bouquet without the stems. I used the exclusive Heartfelt Creations Daisy Patch Dies to cut out 8 individual flowers which I shaped and glued to the bouquet creating a great dimensional effect.  For the jar, I stamped the Ball Jar Stamp directly on a 5" x3.75" mat of  Basic Grey Pink Pattern  with Memento Black Tuxedo ink, stamped a second jar on white cardstock and a third one on acetate using Stazon Black ink for this one. I stamped stems from the bouquet stamp with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink on the white jar and then colored the water with Copics B000 and C00.   I glued the acetate jar to the white jar and attached a ribbon to the neck of the jar. This was then attached to the jar on the mat of pink. I then attached my bouquet of pink Daisies with dimensionals above the jar. I finished the card by attaching my image to a mat of Basic Grey  Pattern that complements the colors in the flowers and then to the card base of black.  These stamps and die cuts make it so very easy to create lovely flowers that will be everlasting.
    Products used:
    HCPC 3318 Daisy Patch Flowers
    HCPC 3325 Daisy Patch Bouquet
    HCPC Jean Pocket/Ball Jar
    HCD 703 Daisy Patch Diecuts
