Fall Is In the Air

I love the feel of fall and the colors of fall leaves. This week Joan's Gardens has a fall color challenge - Include Leaves on your card , Fall colors, Tree and/or bird , and use a product sold at Joan's Gardens. I made the background paper using a sheet of clear vellum paper and drops of SU reinkers Real Red, Old Olive, More Mustard, and Ruby Red squirted on a crafting mat.  I laid the paper on the mat and created this very fall colored paper. After drying my vellum paper, I attached it to cardstock and embossed with Cuttlebug EF Birds and Swirls. I glued this to a base card of Pumpkin. Since I had out the reinkers, I then added ink to some paper towels to create a multi color pad of the fall colors. Using an old PSX Maple leaf stamp I stamped leaves on Orange cardstock and fussy cut and placed with pop up dots on my card. The sentiment from GKD was stamped with Memento Espresso Truffle ink on the orange cardstock and trimmed with a Spellbinders tag die. Added a bit of grosgrain ribbon. Also added a bird of Copper Metallic cardstock punched with a Marianne die.

Winter Wonderland

 

One of my favorite winter stamps is this "Christmas Village" by PSX which I have used for many cards. This time I am using it as a simple black and white card using Versamark and Ranger black embossing powder on GKD white card stock with no coloring or embellishing.  I used a GKD white card base, a mat of digital Snowflake Pattern Paper from Dreamees, and a solid black mat directly under the image.  Looks like we are having more snow today.

Christmas Village

I am back to making Christmas Cards...I seem to be all over the place with challenges this week.  This was made for Craftyhazelnut's Challenge to include a building on our card. I have used a sketch from One Stop Craft Challenge and also BasicGrey papers so will enter this in those challenges too.

I have used an old favorite stamp by PSX "Christmas Village" colored with Copics, Markers and Pencils. I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and used only the center part of the stamp. The sentiment is from a Flourishes stamp set.  Corner punch and Spellbinder dies used also. Papers are Patterns from BasicGrey and Solid CS from stash.

Eye Popping Poppies

As soon as I saw this photo on the left  at Lily Pad, I knew I had to pull out a very old favorite stamp that I have not used in a long while. And I have never colored this image with Copics so I gave that a try.  I was very pleased with how beautiful the colors are and I  think it turned out very well. The stamp that I used is PSX "Poppies Botanical".  Remember all those beautiful botanical stamps from PSX? I have several in my collection.The photo is from April’s Virginia’s View Challenge with a prize of your choice of a FlexMarker set from Letraset.  We are to make a new card using the photo on the left as a source of inspiration.

Christmas Card in Black and White

I pulled out a old PSX Stamp for this card that I made in Black and White. I simply stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black on White CS and then wiped the stamped image with Versamark and heat embossed with Clear EP. Hope that you can see the shine on the card.  I placed the image on a black mat, then a white mat and then on a base of black CS.   Finished with a sentiment from Flourishes' "Dove and Holly". Easy to make but very dramatic.

Bear Hugs are the Best

I have yet another Bear Stamp.....this one is from The Pixie Cottage and is called "You Give The Best Hugs".  I used it in a card for The Pixie Cottage challenge which is a sketch with the theme option of  "Fussy and Fancy" to add embellishments, ribbons, lace, embossing, anything you like, just make it as fussy and fancy as you can! This may not be as fancy as it could be but I did not want to distract from the cute bears. I stamped (with Memento Rich Cocoa)) and colored the bears with Copics and used a scrap of terry cloth and Colorless Blender to give a furry effect.   I trimmed the image, rounded the corners and edged with Distress Ink Spun Sugar.  I made a square card using White CS as base and attached a mat of Basic Grey PP from Hopscotch paper pack. Added a square of Brown Textured sticker paper from stash and topped with the image. Added some pink heart buttons with twine and some pink rhinestones for bling.  Finished with a sentiment embossed with Zinc Chestnut EP using PSX Pixie Expressions stamp (very old). This card was designed using the Sketch below.

Bunny in a Basket of Flowers and Chicks

One of my favorite Easter stamps is an old PSX stamp that I call Bunny in the Basket....this one is not named on the wood block...only has a number.   I usually have made larger cards with this image but thought I'd try it on a 4.25 x5.5".  This kind of crowds the image but I finished it any way. I colored with markers from Tombow...if I am using an old stamp, might as well as use old markers too. Will try again and color with Copics. I used versamark pen on the chicks and bunny and heat embossed with clear EP to give some highlights.
Cut the image out and rounded the corners. Adhered to a card base of yellow and finished with sentiment and pink rhinestones.

A Spoon Full of Sugar: Use Tons of Texture-at least 2 types. I used dry embossing border at lower edge of card and heat embossing on Bunny and Chicks. Rhinestones also add texture.

Merry Christmas

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas

Can you believe today is the first day of winter?  It seems like it has been winter here for weeks already!
This stamp from PSX of a Christmas Village is one of my old time favorites. I made this card for the challenge at Pollycraft Monday Challenge and Craft Your Passion. The theme  Pollycraft is...WHITE CHRISTMAS...and we are to make an all white card(colour only on images) OR snowy/winter scenes. I think this fills both requirements. Stamped the village on White CS with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored only highlights with Memento Markers. Added some Frosted Lace Stickles to give an icy winter look. Placed this on a shimmery White  CS (from stash-unknown source) that I partially embossed with Cuttlebug EF Snowflakes. Added a tag cut with Spellbinders ribbon tag die stamped with a sentiment from GKD "Very Merry Christmas" by Theresa M.  I attached the tag with a white organza ribbon.

Let it Snow... Only in My Blog

This card was made for challenges with a snowman, a bear, a sketch and Christmas. The sketch that I used is from Card Positioning Systems. Love this layout  with the 3 arches.

Stamped this snowman and bear image with black ink on white and colored with pencils and markers. Paper pieced the band on the top hat with red CS. Used  stickles and glitter pen for some sparkle.

Challenges:

Just Cute Bears & Friends: Challenge is to use Black, White plus 1 other colour....and of course a bear image or a friend. My color of choice is red but added just a touch of green. I just could not make the leaves black or red?

Sophisticated Card with a Touch of "Diamonds"

Annabelle's sketch challenge runs for a full month and I always wait until it is almost over before I enter. This month I am doing it early for a change and not going to forget the bling. When I saw this sketch I thought of some rhinestones I saved from an old hat and used them as my inspiration for this card. I ended up with a Christmas card using mainly black, white and silver with a lotta bling.

Christmas Village

At 2010 Christmas Card Challenges the week's challenge is a color combo. The combo is deep red, black and cream/vanilla which are so elegant looking.  I used a very old stamp "Christmas Village" by PSX who are no longer around. I stamped this on cream CS with black ink and colored in the church with a copics. Matted on black and red CS and placed on cream base card. Added sentiment to finish.

Card Made With Love

One Layer Wednesday Challenge is  make a square card and use an outline stamp. I love these challenges ---they may seem very simple but it does take some thought and planning to execute. I inked up an old PSX stamp "Hydrangea" with markers and carefully place on the 5" square card. I do hope this is considered an outline stamp even if it has some details. I then embossed the sentiment along the side and inked the raised edges.
This card will also be entered into Theresa's challenge over at Stamp TV: to stamp an image sideways, upside down, or at a different angle than normal.

Card of Many Challenges but of Only One Color

Monochromatic cards are some of the most difficult for me to do. Using shades of brown seem to be the easiest to accomplish since I can use light shades of ivory to the darkest browns. I made this card using an old PSX stamp but one of my faves. Stamped this cute bear with brown on sand card stock and colored with pencils and added touch of gold on his bow and heart with gel pen. Used a patterned paper that is flocked....love the texture of this... as a mat  for the image and then layered on a darker brown mat that I embossed with the Cuttlebug Argyle embossing folder. Placed this all on a base card of sand and added a strip of embossed dark brown with a button and bow. Finished with the sentiment on an oval cut out with Nesties.

Pink with Green Challenge

City Crafter has a color challenge for CCCB week # 4 to use pink and green. I needed to make a card for my niece's 6th anniversary. She carried calla lilies at her wedding and the flower for the 6th anniversary is also the calla lily.  So I combined this challenge with her card and made this. Used a precut mat for a frame that I purchased at Joann's to show off the image that I colored with pencils and markers. Mounted this on a base card of white and included sentiment on inside for a Happy Anniversary.  Added some pink ribbons to finish the card.
Stamp is an old one from PSX.

Bought this mat for 50 cents sometime ago and finally found a good use for it.
