Vintage Santa

Hello!  Sometimes a card comes together so quick and easy and some of the simplest cards are the hardest.  This one was very easy once I found the digital vintage image from TLC by Paulette that I had stored in my files.  I printed the image on white CS and after I trimmed it with a white margin, I distressed the margin with Distress Ink Antique Linen and the edges with a distressing tool.  I found just the right Pattern Paper from an old Webster's Pages pad and used a mossy green card base.  I wrapped the Coppery Gold Organza ribbon around the image before attaching to the base.  Something about this ribbon was just perfect in my eyes.  I was not going to add a verse but remembered this stamp from Gina K Designs Joy and Peace set and thought it had a vintage ring to it.  I stamped in the upper corner...perfect fit...with SU Always Artichoke ink.  I plan to use this image for more cards but will try using water color paper to see if I like better.

Blowing Kisses

Hello!  Just a quick post to show a card made with a digital stamp by From the Heart using their Sketch Inspiration #136 with the twist of Vintage shown below.  I have used some vintage looking patterns and some distressing with inks and distressing on the edges of the layer.  The image is Blowing Kisses with a sentiment from the same set. I colored the image with Copics and did some distressing with Distress Inks.  Pattern Papers are from stash.

Hello from Santa

 

 Hello!  I am here with Santa today...this vintage image is from Create with TLC  that I have in my digi files.   I added some patterns from Crate Paper Peppermint pad and a Kraft card base. I used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches for my design.  Added some embossing to a couple of the rectangles and a die cut word.  Love the vintage look of these papers.

Smile for the Camera!

Hello!   My card today was created with some pattern paper, a die cut, silk flowers and a bit of ribbon. The  vintage camera theme and colors were inspired by the Photo shown at The Shabby Tea Room. See below.  I selected a pattern paper from MME Chalk Studio 2 pad as a starting point and added a Flourish cut with Cheery Lynn Die from Green CS and added some Silk Flowers with brads from my stash.  Layered this all on a Coral card base with a stripe ribbon( inspired by the photo).  I finished the inside with a Graphics Fairy digital image of a vintage camera and a computer printed sentiment that I printed on Photo Paper to keep with the camera theme.

Vintage with Lace and Pearls

I had not planned to do another post today, but some of the deadlines are nearing closing so not to miss out I am back again.
Today, I have a vintage card with lace and pearls.  I began with a panel from Heartfelt Creations Celebrate the Journey Collection which I cut out the center with a Spellbinders oval die.  I embossed the panel with Cuttlebug EF Victoria and edged it with brown ink before attaching to a Teal Blue card base with a strip of ivory lace.  The center was stamped with HFC All Occasion Sentiment with Versamark and heat embossed with Zing Chestnut EP.  I added 4 pearls to the lacy corners and a blue satin ribbon tied with a single knot to the bottom of the panel.  Love the lacy designs in the pattern paper with the texture of the lace, pearls and ribbon.

You've Got Style

 

Hello!  Today's card is a bit vintage and a different type of fold for me. I created this pop out style for Joan's Touch Challenge #14 and tried to case her cards posted here.  I just cut and folded and taped until I got the look that I wanted....it was a bit of engineering in card making.
Joan required that we:
Use a die as an outline but not required
Use Black on the card
Add embellishments
Use a product sold at Joan's Garden.

Ladies Day

Hello and welcome!  Today my card is created with Pattern Papers from Graphics 45 and a stamped sentiment from my favorite stamp maker Flourishes.  I used a sketch from Sketch  Saturday, a new challenge to me.  I used 3 different patterns to layer and cut the images of 4 vintage ladies from one of the panels on another paper.  The image is placed on a layer of printed script.  I inked some of the edges with Memento Rich Cocoa marker.  I cut some flowers from one design and shaped the flowers with my flower making tools to give some depth.  With embossing folders, I also dry embossed 2 of the layers - one the floral pattern and one a stripe.   Love the colors in my card.

Card with a French Flair

This card uses another vintage lady from the same Graphics 45 Paper Pad "A Ladies Diary" as used in my last post. For this card I cut out freehand the vintage lady in pink capturing part of the background design and then distressed the edges and inked them  with a pink Copic marker.  I attached this to a layer of black and ivory pattern paper from the same pad and attached to a black card base. Added some bling to her hat and tip of her parasol..... Parasol is such an old fashion French word, don't you think? Finished with an organdy ribbon for a feminine touch.  I stamped a Flourishes French sentiment "Jet'adore" with a flourish in Tuxedo Black ink.

Lady in Red

Welcome!  Today I have used pattern paper as my focus and inspiration for this card.  I cut a panel from Graphics 45 "A Ladies Diary" and colored the dress with red copics and pencil to create a "Lady in Red". I layered this panel on a pattern paper from MME's Sweetest Thing pad adding red ribbon and  black gems and a red rhinestone to her hat. I used a black card stock as the base.  The Sentiment stamped in Memento Tuxedo black is from Flourishes set "Flowers for Jan".  It reads "People will walk in and out of your life but only a few FRIENDS will leave footprints in your heart."  What a lovely thought.

Vintage Christmas with Some Recycle Items

This card came together very quickly since I had the image laying on my work desk just waiting for the right time to use.  The image is from Old Design Shop which is a great source of vintage art.

Most of the items on the card were in my Christmas box of items that I had saved for using on Christmas cards. 

I began with a card base of ivory card stock which I sponged the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink. The next layer is a pattern paper from Heartfelt Creations that I embossed with Cuttlebug EF Allegro and distressed with a distress tool and Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.  I added some paper ribbon saved from a gift on this layer and on the side edge of the inside of the card. I also wrapped some recycled twine before attaching to the base. Next I added the image also distressed with a tool and ink.  Attached  a premade ornament stick on and piece of plastic holly pulled from my goodie box for the finishing touches. (I had trimmed the outer edge of the card front so the ribbon on the inside shows.)

A Try at Mixed Media

Another challenge at SCS for the Hope That You Can Cling To Campaign is to create a card using Mixed Media. I had to do research on just what that is considered ....I read that mixed media tends to refer to a work of visual art that combines various traditionally distinct visual art media - a work that combines paint, ink, and other materials such as paper, metal. wood, shells, fabrics, and "found objects"-  a combination of two or more primary artistic mediums combined in a single piece of artwork or a card in this case. For my card I "mixed" a printed image, distress inks, versamark, embossing powder,  a button ( matched the design in feathers), some seam binding, and a piece of mesh (found objects).  I used distress inks to create the background on which I stamped and embossed the sentiment and then double sponged on a darker ink. To make this more vintage, I distressed edges of image with ink and used distress tool on the mat.  This may not be as complicated and layered with textures as most mixed media items but think it will pass as a mixed media card.

Vintage Flowers

Welcome ! Today I am sharing a vintage card that I made for Cheery Lynn's Challenge 103 to create  a Vintage card using at least one of her dies.  For my image I chose a Vintage image of Lilies that I have on file from House Across the Bay. I aged the image with Distress Inks Crushed Olive, Tea Dye and Antique Linen. I cut a frame from a coral CS with the Cathedral Lace Frame die and removed the center design to frame the image. I also distressed the frame with Tea Dye Ink to soften and age the color of the frame.  I assembled the card with an Olive Green textured card base, the image, and frame and added Olive Branches (Cheery Lynn die) and a Butterfly (Small Butterfly Cheery Lynn die).  The sentiment from MFP was stamped in Memento Rhubarb Stalk. Papers all from my supplies. 
I will be adding this to SCS Hope You Can Cling To Challenge Sending Flowers.

Card in Vogue

 

 

This card was simple to make with a freebie from Dana's Inspirations a photo of the Eiffel Tower with an overlay...it was originally in tones of brown and I converted it to blues with Photoshop Elements just because I wanted to. This photo brought back memories of a trip to Paris many years ago.

After printing and trimming the photo, I added more black ink around the edge, wrapped it with a silver metallic ribbon,  placed on a textured silver cardstock mat and then a glossy blue mat that I embossed with Cuttlebug EF Kassie's Brocade....very French looking.  I used a textured black card base.  I forgot to mention that I printed directly onto the photo a Birthday sentiment "having a Happy Birthday is always in Vogue" that I saved from Create with TLC.  My husband especially liked this card!

Patriotic Vintage Card

I hope your July 4 was a great day.  I spent part of the day making cards including some patriotic cards. This is one that I made for Sugar Creek Hollow vintage challenge to make a vintage or shabby chic card using only the colors of the flag of your country.  I may have included more than the Red, White, and Blue of the flag but liked this graphic for my card. The graphic that I used is from Magic Moonlight Studio and is matted on a digi star  paper from Doodle Pantry.  My base card is a gold cardstock from stash that I distressed with Wild Honey Distress Ink.  The sentiment is from Verve's American Hero stamp set. It was stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossed with Red EP. Added a twist of gold wired Ombre ribbon to finish.

Guess Who This Baby Is?

Morning! I have a fun card to share today.  This week the challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is BABY FACE and they want us to make vintage or shabby chic baby cards .  I searched the web for vintage baby pictures to use and found several great ones.  But when I told my DH what I was searching for, he said why not used the baby picture on our dresser?  Duh! Why did I not think of that picture.....it is surely vintage enough. (Sorry, DH).  The baby boy is my DH and he remembers having the picture made and the little dog that he is holding.  He was not a happy little guy about posing and was fussing and crying. The photographer gave him the dog to hold and that calmed him down enough to sit still and smile for this adorable photograph. This was a little moment in his life but a treasured memory.

Back to my card.....after scanning the picture and printing on card stock, I trimmed the picture with an oval die and aged the image a bit more with Distress Ink Antique Linen.  I assembled the card with a sand color card base and pattern papers background  that I distressed with ink and distress tool.  I placed the image on a scallop oval mat and added  punched bears, buttons, ribbons, duck embellishment and stickers. The baby theme papers, stickers, and embellishments were found in some  leftover stash from scrap booking days.  Everything used in this card was from my collection of supplies.

Vintage Hat with Ombre Ribbon

Welcome!  I am posting a quick card for Sugar Creek Hollow and other challenges.  The challenge at SCH is to make vintage and shabby chic cards with rubber stamping - no digi stamps.  My card is made with stamps from All Night Media from Anna Griffin using the vintage hat and sentiment stamps.  I used the layout from Sweet Sunday sketch to create.  I  added  an ombre ribbon that I had in my stash and distressed with Wild Honey distress ink to give a vintage look.

Card with a Soft Flourish

I did not plan to do another post today but I got tired of ironing...so boring...that I decided to do a card for Sugar Creek Hollow challenge. This week we are to  use FABULOUS FLOURISHES on  vintage or shabby chic cards.  I quickly found this lovely vintage digital image of a flower that I had filed from Magic Moonlight Free Images and used it as my focus. I added some distress edging with distress inks to the image and stripe mat of MME pattern paper. Added some organza ribbon and bow with a pearl heart and a row of paper lace.  I attached modest pearl flourishes and more pearls to the card after adhering to the card base.
This was a quick card but I think it fills the challenge.

Hope My Humpty Dumpty Does Not Fall

Lately, I have missed doing a lot of the challenges that I love to do. One of those is at Sugar Creek Hollow. This week,  they asked us  to make vintage or shabby chic cards or other paper-crafted projects that depict FAIRY TALES and NURSERY RHYMES.  The hardest part was finding an image that I wanted to use but I came across this Humpty Dumpty one at Free Vintage Digital Stamps, a great source of vintage images.  I printed the image in color and trimmed to 3" square and placed on a mat of Graphics 45 Patter paper cut with a scallop square Nesties die.  I attached this to base card of Coral CS. I aged all these layers by distressing with Distress ink.  I added a Flourish cut in Green Card stock with a Cheery Lynn Die, some stamps cut from the Pattern Paper and Organza bow to pick up colors from the image. I thought the image and pattern paper brought through a vintage feeling to my card.

Love Birds

 Today is a cloudy day on the island in Florida so I am making some cards for the challenges on my list to do.
 This card is for a sketch at Sweet Sunday and the Feathers and Fur Challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow to do a vintage or shabby chic card to feature birds or furry animals. I chose to use this vintage bird graphic from Create with TLC . I simply printed the image and tore the edge and distressed with ink. I used a GKD Leather card stock for the base to which I layered a mat of MME Script Pattern Paper embossing the lower part with Cuttlebug EF Forest Branches. I added some strips of GKD Stripe Paper and attached  cut out pieces of a doily. The sentiment is from Flourishes stamped with Memento Espresso Truffle.

A Time to Remember

The challenge at City Crafter is to use a Vintage Girl and/or Vintage Boy in our project. I remembered a silhouette digital image from Graphics Fairy in my file and thought it would be perfect and married it up to a pattern paper that has a vintage feel. I "antiqued" the image with some distressed ink and distressed the edges before attaching to a sage mat. I used a Sage card stock base with a mat of the pattern paper that I embossed but hard to see the embossing. Finished with a satin looped ribbon and a sentiment. It captures a moment in time to cherish in one's memories.
