All in This Together

Welcome to my studio!  I have 2 cards to share today made with the same digital stamp Tulips In a Hobnail Pitcher from Power Poppy.  I was inspired by the Vase shown in the challenge at The Card Concept which has a patterned design. I did something that I never did before and that was to "paper piece" a digital image since I wanted to have a patterned vase on my card.  Through the magic of Photoshop  Elements, I was able to use digital paper and fill in a section of a digital image before printing the image.  The digital paper was actually a file I made by scanning patterned paper from Shabby Rose Collection by Our Daily Bread and I used a section of that paper to piece in to the vase of the digital image.  I included a close up of the vase below. Now that I figured this out, I can use any digital paper to fill in a portion of a digital image... this is easier than printing an image on patterned paper and then fussy cutting to attach to a printed image to do piecing. 

I printed the paper pieced image twice on heavyweight white card stock to make the 2 cards.

For the top card, I colored the image with Copics and trimmed the edges with a corner punch. With Memento Gray Ink, I stamped an appropriate sentiment  for the time we are living in........ found this in Power Poppy's  Sassy Succulents set.     Completed the card with a Gray Woodgrain card base (also inspired by the challenge photo) that I made with a Woodgrain Embossing Folder, Scor-Pal, Gray CS, and white ink. 

For the second card, I added some blues flowers to the printed image using a Hero Arts stamp, blue ink, and masking.  I used different Copics to color the image but used the same sentiment.  Finished with a Blue card base.  I am not sure which version that I like best but I do like the addition of the blue flowers. 

I really like how well the pattern on the vase turned out. I even surprised myself a bit accomplishing that.  A close up view of the vase:

One Layer Shades of Summer

Hello! I am sharing a One Layer Card that I made for the One-Layer Simplicity Challenge this month.  We are to pick one of 6 color combinations and make a card celebrating this warm and fruitful season.  I selected  Shades of Summer #5 shown to the right.  I believe all the colors appear on my creation.

I was inspired to make this card by a tutorial by Jill Foster on making a one layer card shown on this video .   I always thought of one layer cards being very CAS with lots of white space and very simple, but that's not really the case. A One Layer just has to be a
single layer of card stock folded in half and I guess you can add as much or as little as you want.  I have kind of cased Jill's card following the layering of  colors, masking, stamping, etc.  I did not have Pan Pastels that she used so I improvised with what I had.
I began by die cutting a scallop circle to use as a mask while I sponged colors on the white card base to create a pinkish and yellowish background. I sponged other colors randomly. I partly stamped a music background stamp, then removed the mask and stamped the stem and flower and colored with markers.  I then stamped and embossed a Leafy Vine on the right and again sponged the edges of card. I also stamped and embossed the sentiment. I added some gold pearls to finish.

One Layer Challenges

Hello! Back for a second post today.
  I recently purchased Hero Arts Cling Stamp Leafy Vines...just had to have.  I used the stamp to make a One Layer card for a couple of challenges.  I stamped the vine with Versamark Ink off the edge of a Green Card base and heat embossed with White EP.   Added a sentiment from Winnie & Walter set The Big, The Bold, and The Happy.  This was a very quick CAS card.

Easter Basket with Sweet Treats

 

Easter is almost here.  I have been playing with my Cameo making some baskets for sweet treats.

I am also trying to use up some old papers.  I cut and assembled this basket from some papers in the DCWV Flower Shower Spring Stack using a Silhouette design.  I added the label cut with Spellbinder dies and stamped with a Hero Arts stamp in Memento Bamboo Leaves.  Used some old butterfly brads to attach the handle and label. Filled with grass and sweet candy treats.

Birthday Rose

Welcome!  I am having so much fun playing and exploring with the Silhouette Cameo.  For this card, I used a Silhouette Print and Cut File design that I printed and then cut out all with the Cameo....yes, you print a file from the machine on your printer and then insert the image into the Cameo and it knows exactly where to trim if you follow the simple directions.  The image was a bit large (this could have been resized smaller) but I decided to use  it anyway on a white lattice cut out of glossy white CS with Cheery Lynn die and attached to a card base of pink CS.The ribbon was thread through punched holes on the image and tied into a bow before attaching.  I stamped the Hero Arts sentiment with SU Regal Rose ink on White CS and fussy cut and attached with pop up dots.

Challenges:
Joan's Touch:  This card fit all the requirements for her challenge #6 this week. Use lattice, Pink and White, Flowers and a Product ( Cheery Lynn Die) sold at Joan's Gardens.  Also bought the Pink CS at Joan's Gardens but not available now.

Easter Greetings

Welcome. I have been taking some time off from blogging.  I am easing back into card making with some Easter cards.  This is a clean and simple design made with some very old stamps that I have had for several years and DP from My Mind's Eye. I chose colors from the DP which are not traditional colors that I used for Easter designs. I did not use any embellishments.

Autumn Leaves

Hello! I did not plan to do another post but since it is raining I decided to make a quick one layer card. I stamped 2 old stamps from Hero Arts on Ivory CS to create this quick card above. Coloring was done with Pencils and OMS.

Happy Mother's Day Pansies

The challenge At  Speedy Fox and Friends is to make a Mother's Day Card. I used some of the papers that I had on my counter to make this using Mark's Finest Papers Pansies Stamp.

This was a simple card but I think my Mother will like it. I used Happy Mother's Day sentiment inside.

New Challenge But Old Stamps

 There's a new challenge in town A Blog Named Hero. Their very first challenge is to choose your favourite Hero Arts products and make a project using it/them!  This challenge took me down memory lane to the time that I first began stamping.  One of the first techniques that I tried was water spritzing and stamping on watercolor paper and my favorites stamps to use for this was Hero Arts.  I have not done this technique in many years and it was fun to do again using Distress Inks and my all time fave "Real Fuchsia" Hero Arts Stamp. I applied the inks directly to the stamps, spritzed with water and stamped on the watercolor paper. The image shown was my first try with the distress inks and I was happy to use it on my card. I used another Hero Arts for the greeting.

Easter Egg Garden

Welcome. I am posting another Easter card that I made for my stamping club's meeting this week. This design was created by Dianne, my friend and stamping buddy. Love her choice of colors ...so bright and springy! The stamp is Hero Arts "Easter Egg Garden" and I colored the image with pencils, glaze pens, and clearstar pen. We used a paper crimper to give texture to the green mat. Assembled the card and finished with a sentiment stamped in the same Memento Tuxedo Black as image. Will make more of this one for mailing.

Autumn Birthday Card

My DH's birthday is on October 14th, so this card is for him. Thought I add a calendar to the card so he'll remember the date. LOL. This is an inside joke that he will understand. I used a copy of a calendar that I had made and reduced the size to fit the card. Added some fall leaves stamped with some old Hero Arts stamps on Copper CS squares...embossed with Zing Chestnut EP. I used a base of Bronze Metallic CS with a mat of a pattern paper that I have been saving for years....just too pretty to cut, but thought the metallic look and design of leaves was perfect for this card. Added a mat of  Copper CS to the calendar and highlighted the date with the same CS. Sentiment is an old SU Birthday stamp also embossed in Chestnut. Like this card for an Autumn Birthday.

Life is Good in His Convertible

When my husband retired 8 years ago, I told him that he should buy a FUN car since he had driven  company cars for many years.....not much fun driving  them.  But little did I know just how much FUN that he would buy!  He came home sporting a Lexus SC 430 in Egyptian Sand...that's about as much fun as you can find in a car! And he has been driving it ever since.
When I saw this LOTV stamp of a teddy bear in a sports car, I thought immediately of my "Daddy Bear" tooling around in his sports car and had to have this stamp. I have colored it up to resemble his little convertible and made this surprise card for Father's Day. That was hard to do since he is always checking what I am doing in my studio. By the way, the front license plate reads "Life Is Good", his words to live by.

Spring Flowers Served on a Doily

Dee's challenge at Flourishes Timeless Tuesday is 
Flowers, Flowers Everywhere!  I am down to the wire getting my entry in so this will be short and quick. Sorry for the photo but I tried a new location and it not quite right but do not have time to redo.
I stamped the Crocus image from Flourishes" A Year in Flowers Set 1" and colored with Copics. I cut the image and a purple mat with Nesties circle dies. I cut the doily from Bazzill Green CS with Cheery Lynn Designs die "English Tea Garden" for another mat. My Card Base is a shimmery white CS from my stash. I layered this with 2 mats of an unknown Patterned Paper of light purple. I assembled the card using a sketch from AllSorts Challenge and finished with the sentiment and bling of green pear shaped stones. All done!

Bunny in a Basket of Flowers and Chicks

One of my favorite Easter stamps is an old PSX stamp that I call Bunny in the Basket....this one is not named on the wood block...only has a number.   I usually have made larger cards with this image but thought I'd try it on a 4.25 x5.5".  This kind of crowds the image but I finished it any way. I colored with markers from Tombow...if I am using an old stamp, might as well as use old markers too. Will try again and color with Copics. I used versamark pen on the chicks and bunny and heat embossed with clear EP to give some highlights.
Cut the image out and rounded the corners. Adhered to a card base of yellow and finished with sentiment and pink rhinestones.

Challenges at Annabelle's

For this card, I combined two challenges from Annabelle Stamps Blog...the bling sketch challenge shown on the lower right and the challenge  say it in orange and purple and a neutral.  I think this card looks much better in real life...the watercolor images just do not come out well in the photo.  I use the water spritz technique with 3 Hero Arts flower stamps and stamped on watercolor paper. Added some orange glaze to images.  Cut these into squares and layered on scallop squares of purple. Embossed flowers on left of ivory card base and then arranged the squares. Finished with some orange rhinestones  and one purple rhinestone

 This was a fun card to make...love this stamp set from Mark's finest papers....I made  it with a new stamp set and paper pack that I ordered from MFP's. I have been anxious to make a card using my new goodies and this was a perfect challenge to use my purchases. I stamped the elephant on grey CS and white CS and cut out with circle dies. Cut the trunk with a smaller die for spotlighted this area. I colored it with Copics and added some Glossy accents to the tusks which does not show in the photo. I sponged the edge very lightly with black.Using a black card base, I added a mat of orange that I embossed. Added ribbons of black and a white one with elephant tracks(at least that is my story). Attached the elephant matted on a black circle and then layered on highlighted circle.   Added the elephant charm ( so cute!) and stamped and embossed sentiment on strip of black CS and added to ribbon. Finished with 3 gems.
I decided to finish the inside with stamped elephants and tree and more of the "elephant tracks" ribbon.

Teddy With a Flower on a Gate Fold Card

Card Patterns has a great sketch this week as always...decided to make a gate fold card using that sketch and the Teddy with Flower stamp from LOTV.  Used some new paper from Basic Grey which I also used to finish the inside of my card which you can see below. Stamped and Cut Out Flower to hold card closed.

Playing in the Leaves

 I love this little bear in a pile of leaves but I do not like raking leaves which we have been doing a lot.. This card is for the challenge at Just Cute Bears & Friends - to use the sketch to the right and use a bear or other animal image.
Stamped bear and colored with copics. Added flower soft to the pile and Glossy Accents to leaves in the air. Stamped sentiment with leaves and also colored with copics and added glitter with Sakura pen. Used pumpkin spice CS for cutout mats and a Leaf Pattern paper for larger mat.
