Birthday Butterfly

Welcome to the studio!  I have been fluttering around my desk putting together another birthday card.  This is one of my favorite kind of cards to make since there is always a birthday to celebrate and it's good to have cards on hand.   I have a box of old photos - ones that I saved from the trash -remember before digital cameras when we had to have film developed and a lot of them never made it to a photo album or were not good enough to frame.  I kept some of those rejects thinking that I could find ways to repurpose someday.  I have used 2 of those rejected photos (shown below) in the making of this card. You can estimate how many years I have had them.  

Using a recently learned Cloisonne Technique, I stamped an old butterfly stamp from Layers of Color with Versamark ink on the sunset glossy photo and heat embossed with gold EP and fussy cut the image. (Be careful not to get paper too hot or it will blister.) I trimmed the second photo of flowers and used it as a background mat on my card.  I attached the butterfly and added with some die cut words cut with Cheery Lynn dies.  I wanted the gold edge of the card base and the gold of the words all to match the gold on the butterfly so I used the same gold embossing powder to edge the white card base and to create a gold embossed strip to cut the words.  That's what I call coordinating my golds.

Shave Cream for Card Making

Hello! Today's card is made with a fun Shaving Cream technique.  Just using foamy shaving cream and re-inkers, you can create one of a kind papers.  This card is for the Just Us Girls challenge to use the shaving cream technique presented by Sharyn this week.  I used pink and green Stampin' Up reinkers for my background paper created for this technique.

Stamping on Pattern Paper

The challenge at Joan's Gardens is to use the tutorial and project done by Heidi Blankenship here to create a card by stamping on pattern paper. I began with a blue pattern paper and stamped in all 13 different stamps to create my design. Stamped several images with Memento Paris Dusk. Stamped other images with Summer Sky and Brilliance Platinum Planet. Added some highlights with a white gel pen on the Lilies of the Valley and did some sponging with Memento Summer Sky. Used liquid pearls on the design in the scrolls. Stamped the verse on another pattern paper and matted on a darker blue CS which I cut both with Labels Four dies. Added some Distress Ink Tea Dye to the verse.  Finished with a layered flower of white and yellow silk flowers and topped with a cut out of tulle and gold gemstone.  Also added a blue gem stone. Used a card base of navy matted with white card stock.  I love how this all created layers of the stamps and added dimension to the card. This design took some time to plan and execute but pleased with the results.

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday: Challenge is all about the sentiment. I was pleasantly surprised that I had also created a card to enter for this challenge when I realized my card really focuses on this lovely sentiment from "Spring Has Sprung".

 Paper Players has a great Clean and Simple Sketch this week and I teamed it up with a color challenge from BasicGrey Challenges and came up with this card that I added a butterfly to for "something with wings".

Fluttering By With Wishes

Speedy the Cat's Friends Challenge this week is to use the Emboss Resist Technique. This is not a hard technique but I had to experiment a lot before I found the right mix of stamps and inks that I liked for the card.  I found inspiration from the DT's projects.

Fluttering Thoughts of You

Good Morning! This is my card for this week's challenge at Joan's Gardens.....love her challenges.  My DH says I took artistic license with this card as he says there are no butterflies this color, but he really liked this card even tho it has frills and lace.
The challenge was to use the colors peach and blue (teal), use some butterflies, and add something frillie.
I found this patterned paper in my stash and it gave me the start for peach and teal. I colored a paper doily with Copics and cut out the center and layered over a circle of light peach CS from scraps. I stamped the sentiment...I was able to curve it because it was a flexible clear stamp. I stamped the butterflies on a scrap of peach patterned paper and cut out and shaped. Assembled the card on a base of light peach CS, mat of the pattern paper, the doily, added a border of lace atop a strip of the pattern, and finally arranged the butterflies.

Fluttering by with Birthday Wishes

I stamped the daylily with Memento Rich Cocoa and colored with Copics. I cut the image with Spellbinders Labels 9 and placed on a mat cut a with larger die. Placed this on a mat embossed and sponged with color. Stamped sentiment on white CS and cut with Spellbinders fancy tags. Stamped butterfly with versamark and heat embossed with clear EP, cut out and added with pop up dots. Used White CS for base.
