Making a Flower

Hello!  It has been a while since I built a flower with one of Susan's Garden dies.  I was inspired by the Photo Challenge at Just Us Girls to create a flower using Yellow CS for the Petals of a Dahlia and Green Scraps for the Leaves.  I used DI Spiced Marmalade to ink the petals before assembling. For the background of my card, I stamped Gina K Petite Flourish stamp with DI Frayed Burlap on Ivory CS and inked the edges using the ink pad. Stamped the sentiment from Power Poppy with the same ink and die cut with a label die. Assembled the card on Ivory card base.

Music is Love

Hello!  Playing today with GKD background stamp Petite Flowers and stamps and die from You Have My Heart set.   I decided to use the sketch from Sketch Saturday to create a musical theme card.  I used the background stamp with Memento Bamboo Leaves on white CS and layered this with a Fresh  Asparagus panel stamped and heat embossed with the sentiment. The edge of the green was punched with a scallop border and lined with white CS.  Added a Guitar stamped on Kraft CS and cut with a die.  I thought I had some die cut Musical Notes  in my stash but could not find them.   So I improvised an embellishment....I emboss a scrap of Vellum with a portion of a CB embossing folder Allegro.  Inked the raised area with black ink and heat embossed with Clear EP.  Fussy cut 2 sections to use for my finishing touches.

One Layer Shades of Summer

Hello! I am sharing a One Layer Card that I made for the One-Layer Simplicity Challenge this month.  We are to pick one of 6 color combinations and make a card celebrating this warm and fruitful season.  I selected  Shades of Summer #5 shown to the right.  I believe all the colors appear on my creation.

I was inspired to make this card by a tutorial by Jill Foster on making a one layer card shown on this video .   I always thought of one layer cards being very CAS with lots of white space and very simple, but that's not really the case. A One Layer just has to be a
single layer of card stock folded in half and I guess you can add as much or as little as you want.  I have kind of cased Jill's card following the layering of  colors, masking, stamping, etc.  I did not have Pan Pastels that she used so I improvised with what I had.
I began by die cutting a scallop circle to use as a mask while I sponged colors on the white card base to create a pinkish and yellowish background. I sponged other colors randomly. I partly stamped a music background stamp, then removed the mask and stamped the stem and flower and colored with markers.  I then stamped and embossed a Leafy Vine on the right and again sponged the edges of card. I also stamped and embossed the sentiment. I added some gold pearls to finish.

Sweet Tulips

My card today is for the sketch challenge at The House That Stamps Built using stamps from Repeat Impressions. I made the background by stamping Hero Arts Floating Flowers background stamp with Distress Ink Crushed Olive on a yellow cardstock which gave a mottled look. Thanks to Shirley R. for this stamp...it was part of a great blog candy that I received from her last week.  I stamped the Tulip Bouquet on white with Memento Espresso Truffle ink and colored with Copics Y02,06,18,YG63,G99, B00,21. Added some touches with glaze pens to flower centers. Layered the image on to Yellow Scallop Oval and Green Oval, both cut with Nesties Dies, the stamped background and finally a White Card Base. Completed the card with sentiment stamped with Memento Olive Green ink on to label cut with Spellbinders Fancy Labels die. Added yellow dew drops to finish.  Like the look of this card.
