Vintage Santa Again

This is another vintage card using stripes and spots for the challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow. I used Pattern Papers from Authentique Paper Pad "Wonder"  including the Postcard cut from one of the papers. I added some lace, green rhinestones and a sprig of pine cones and berries to complete the card. I did some distressing on the lace and papers with Distress Inks Barn Door, Antique Linen, and Brushed Corduroy.

Challenges:

Sugar Creek Hollow:  Use both stripes and spots on a vintage, shabby chic or primitive card.

Paper Players: Use colors Riding Hood Red, Always Artichoke, and River Rock.

All the colors are in the papers.

Let's Go For A Color Spin

This card covers a couple of challenges...one a sketch and one a color combo. I made 2 pinwheels using an unknown double side DP. Added buttons from stash to the centers  and used wired raffia for my sticks. Placed this atop a embossed mat of GKD Yellow CS and then onto card base of Bazzill Green CS. EF is CB Diamond Plate. Used a fancy tag die for my computer generated sentiment.

Roses and Flowers for a Summer Birthday

I love how the paper and  flowers did all the work for me in this card.  I just stamped the sentiment, design, and label and punched it out. Attached the green mat to the ivory card base. Added the floral  mat with ribbon. On with the stamped label and then the lovely roses. And voila!!

Cherry Blossoms for Spring Happiness

At CR84FN Color Challenge,  the challenge is a pretty pastel color palette of pink, cream and black. I have used a Cherry Blossom stamp on cream CS colored with copics and added some bees stamped in black...don't you always see bees flying around in the blossoms?  Added a lovely ribbon of black and pink to complete the card.  This is a clean and simple card showing spring blossoms and bees.

Quilt Covers Many Challenges

Shown on the right is the photo inspiration that is for the Flourishes TimelessTuesday Challenge this week.  We are to be inspired by the circular patterns, or the patterns within the circles, or the colors… whatever.  I love making quilt cards so I was inspired to make a quilt  but also used the design of the quilt circles, and colors in the photo. I "literally" took the quilt from the chair and hung it on a quilt rack on my card. I used a quilt stamp from GKD's "Nana's Needlework" by Nina and stamped it on off white slightly patterned paper using Memento London Fog ink to give a light color to the stamping. I paper pieced assorted color circles on to the design of the quilt. After I cut out the quilt, I embossed it using Cuttlebug EF Argyle which appears as  stitching on the quilt. I was pleased how this came out....click to enlarge the photo to see details. I used card base of Mango CS, layered with Yellow CS, and mat of blue patterned.  I stamped the quilt holder directly onto Ivory CS with Memento Rich Cocoa and colored the wood rack with Copics E21,25,29,33. I "hung" my quilt on the rack and finished with a sentiment from the stamp set mentioned above. I was happily surprised

to realize that I had also used the colors from Lily Pad Cards Color Throw Down ...guess the challenge was in the back of my mind when I chose the colors that I used.

Crafty Caz Weekly Challenge: Use embossing. Quilt is embossed with argyle embossing folder.

A Bird of Many Challenges

 Welcome. Trying to get back in the grove entering some challenges. This card is made with a Chickadee stamp that I colored with Copics and sponged the background of the  image with blue ink. Added some stickles and Glossy Accents. Used card base of textured green CS and mats of floral pattern matted on green.  Stamped and heat embossed sentiment on a circle of Vellum ..used this so as not to cover up so much of the pattern...and attached with Vellum tape. Assembled the card following sketch shown lower right and used brown ribbon and poinsettia flower to finish. Made envelope and lined with floral paper to fit the 5X5" card.

Challenges:

Joan's Gardens: 1. Use some kind of animal, bird or whatever. Used Chickadee

                           2. Use a floral background paper  Used Basic Grey Jovial
                           3. Do something that takes you out of your comfort zone. Made square card which is out  
            of my norm and also used Vellum which I never heat embossed...did not know I could do til I tried.
                           4. Use some kind of Die. Used rectangles, circle and ovals.

Speedy the Cat's Friends Challenge:   Use some kind of embossing. Used dry embossing on background strip and heat embossing on Sentiment.

Playing in the Leaves

 I love this little bear in a pile of leaves but I do not like raking leaves which we have been doing a lot.. This card is for the challenge at Just Cute Bears & Friends - to use the sketch to the right and use a bear or other animal image.
Stamped bear and colored with copics. Added flower soft to the pile and Glossy Accents to leaves in the air. Stamped sentiment with leaves and also colored with copics and added glitter with Sakura pen. Used pumpkin spice CS for cutout mats and a Leaf Pattern paper for larger mat.

Color Challenge at STV

Janice at Stamp TV challenged us this week to use brown, red, green, and ivory in a card...one of her favorite combos.  I found this K&Co pattern paper  with all the colors but it is predominantly brown. I started playing around with it and used a base card of ivory matted with brown then green then the pattern. Solid CS all from GKD. For my focus I began experimenting to do more than just stamp a flower and color it red. So, I stamped the doily stamp from GKD "Nana' Needlework" by Nina with Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink on ivory CS and cut the center portion out with Nesties Blossom die. Then I cut slits around the image and shaped into a "flower" after I sponged with the Memento Rhubarb Stalk and New Sprout inks. I cut a larger Blossom out of Brown CS, shaped it and layered it under my flower with some ribbon leaves. Maybe should have done 3? I added a ribbon with a sentiment from GKD "Candles on a Cake" by Melanie to complete the card. A simple card with layers of paper and ribbon.

Pretty in Pink

It has been awhile since I used a digital image from Phindy's Place so I printed this one out of  Petticoat Patty, such a sweet girl.  I colored her in pretty pink and gave a sponging of pink and stamped a sentiment on the image before matting in brown.
Using a great sketch from Friday Sketchers, I used a kraft base card with a mat of pink that I embossed and highlighted the dots with ink. I then added some brown pattern paper with design in pink and green (embossed too but hard to see). Attached a pink ribbon that I layered with a green one and added a flower of the 2 colors with a brad for the center. I think Petticoat Patty looks "right smart" atop the card. Finished with a little glitter on her petticoat and the bee above her head and on the pattern paper.

Surprised with the End Result!

I made this card for Joan's Garden Challenge and the Midnight Madness Sketch challenge.
For Joan's Gardens  Thursday Challenge #15.... make a card or project this week and use the following:
Color - Orange, Green and Blue
Embellishment - Printed Ribbon and something hanging
3 different prints - can include ribbon print
Distress with ink
I am so glad Joan did not require us to use a stamp because I did not use one...had planned to use a stamp but my paper choice inspired me to go another direction. I found this pattern paper in my stash with all the right colors, added the orange pattern that I dry embossed, and used another dotted  paper  for the mat under the oval cut out of the flower. I did use distress ink around the edges of the base card and pattern paper mats. I assembled the card using ivory base card and a mat of pumpkin spice following the sketch (see on the right)  to place the pattern papers. Added the printed ribbon and my hanging embellishment. For that, I wired together some heart shaped beads, floral beads, an ivory bead, and a larger bead from an old hat. I attached it with a green brad.
Added one more bead to  upper right corner.  After I had finished the card, I had one more idea.....cut out another flower that I used as my focus. I shaped the petals for dimension and glued some orange beads to the center. Attached the flower with pop ups ....this was a great finish. Love how the card turned out ...better than I expected when I started the challenge.

Celebrate Fall Colors

Today feels very fall like with temps in the 50's this morning.. Summer has gone by so quickly and winter is not far away so it is time to enjoy the beauty of fall .  I  used these fall stamps from Mark's Finest Papers to create a card for the coming season. Stamped the large mum and colored with copics and sponged with yellow after cutting with a die. Stamped the pot of mums and colored in the same way but cut out to mount on the brown mat embossed with Cuttlebug. Also embossed the red mat that I placed under the larger mum. Assembled the card adding 5 leaves and sentiment to complete. Followed the sketch shown on the right.

Softly Afloat for TMITA

At There's Magic in the Air this week, the challenge by Marie was to use any Paper Cupcake's Image and use no patterned paper on your project. You can emboss, stamp, score etc. to make a pattern, but no store bought patten paper can be used.  I used one of my favorite digital images from Paper Cupcakes "Softly Afloat" which I colored with Copics Y13,YR02,12,18 and framed with score lines. I attached to a green mat and then to the base card. I first dry embossed the base card with a Fiskars Texture Plate and highlighted the raised areas by inking with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink. Cardstock was all from stash. I like the simplicity of this card with out any embellishments. I may add a stamped sentiment when I send this card.

Color Challenge at STV

At Stamp TV Carla's challenge was inspired by the beautiful colors of GKD cardstock:  Passionate Pink, Lipstick Red, Innocent Pink, Wine With Everything and Black Onyx. We can pick any combination of these colors for our card.
I chose to use Innocent Pink, Lipstick Red, Black, and Cranberry Tart GKD Card Stocks for my card. I used stamps from GKD "Nana's Needlework" by Nina and stamped the quilt in black on Lipstick Red cardstock and paper pieced with a pattern paper from Basic Grey "Olivia". I stamped the quilt holder in black versafine on the pink CS and added the quilt that I cut out. I colored the holder in black pencil and OMS.  I paper pieced the hearts with the red CS. I used the sentiment stamped with Memento Rhubarb Stalk Ink. Added the heart stamp in Rhubarb Stalk ink and colored also in black pencil and OMS. Pink Mat is punched with a Fiskars Scallop Punch. All is assembled on a mat of wine and the black base card.

Kimono Inspired by Art Exhibit

One Stop Craft Challenges had a theme this week for projects with the theme ORIENTAL DELIGHTS. I learned how to fold a kimono with paper in one of my Stamp Club meetings last year. This was inspired by a exhibit of Kimonos made by Itchiku Kubota at the Canton Museum of Art....a beautiful showing of  his textile art of kimonos. Photos of his work can be found here.
I folded the kimono from a paper I downloaded and then trimmed it with a ribbon with gold beads. Attached this to a mat that I edged in gold and placed on a mat of lavender also gold edged. Used a base card of ivory.

Christmas Village

At 2010 Christmas Card Challenges the week's challenge is a color combo. The combo is deep red, black and cream/vanilla which are so elegant looking.  I used a very old stamp "Christmas Village" by PSX who are no longer around. I stamped this on cream CS with black ink and colored in the church with a copics. Matted on black and red CS and placed on cream base card. Added sentiment to finish.

I made this card following Melissa's sketch challenge at Stamp TV and the challenge at Flourishes Timeless Tuesday where Dee challenged us to use limited supplies. We can only use use ink, stamps, paper, punches, die cuts, and coloring tools. No embellishments allowed. I used an aster stamp and colored with copics and a marker. I love how the colors of the flowers go with the colors of the papers. Finished with a sentiment stamp.

There are still some Christmas challenges to do. I made this card for several challenges using a Lili of the Valley image. Cut out presents from Pattern Papers and used lace around the image that I colored with copics and sponged with distress ink. Used stickles on hat.

Teddy Stampers:  Kaylou's challenge is to use different shapes -a rectangle, a square or a circle- any shape will do, as long as there are more than one on the card. Used rectangle and ovals.

Stained Glass Inspiration

Brenda's inspiration challenge at Stamp TV this week was to be inspired by this beautiful stained glass decoration shown in the photo to the right and create a project.
I decided to create a stained glass look using a doily stamp from Gina K designs. I stamped the design on white CS using a dark blue ink and colored using Copics, Markers, and Jelli Metallic pens. I then wiped the design with versamark and heat embossed. I  cut out the image with a circle die and placed on a mat of red CS that I also covered with versamark and heat embossed. The photo does not show how lovely the glaze is on the image but it really shines in real life.  Click on the photo to get a better look. I attached the design to a silver metallic CS and then to a base card of navy. Added 3 silver metal brads with blue glass stone and the metal sentiment plate attached with 2 more of the same brads.

I made this card 5"x5" that seems just right for my design. I used a sketch from  One Stop Craft Challenge that  had a challenge to use metal with the sketch to which I also entered this card.

Sketch and Flowers in Blue and Cream

Melissa's sketch for her challenge at Stamp TV is shown below on the right. I decided to use blue and white with green in my card.
Other challenges I entered are;
Paperplay Challenge: Theme is a color combo of
blue and cream and a color of choice.
Stamp Something: Use something flowery. This can be flowery papers, flowery embellishments, an image of flowers, etc.
I stamped the flower image and colored with copics and matted on a striped paper with glitter. Used a solid, glittered stripe and floral pattern for the other mats. Finished with a sentiment on a circle and a ribbon with gold beads. Was going to emboss the solid paper but forgot...too much in a hurry to finish? Guess it's ok without the Swiss Dots?

I made this card for the Timeless Tuesday Challenge with one of my wins.  I used the sketch from For Fun Wednesday Challenge shown on lower right.
