Happy Bird

 

I love to play with digis and decided I need to use more of some great digis that I have saved.  I have had this "Happy Bird" that was a freebie from Doodle Pantry and never used it in a card.  Every time I see my friend Patti post a card for Doodle Pantry (she is on their DT),  I say I must do one of their challenges.   The theme this week is to use a Doodle Pantry Image..that's easy enough.   I colored Happy Bird with Copics ending up with him more pink than red. I found some scraps of DCWV pattern papers which I thought suited the bird's personality and used a sketch from Sweet Sunday to make it all come together on a card base of turquoise.  Added some dew drops and a sentiment also from Doodle Pantry to finish.  Was as Happy as "Happy Bird" with the card.

Glitter for Warmest Wishes

This is my 4th and last post today. This card is for the Flourishes challenge - Sprinkles On Top. We are to add sprinkles onto our card or creation in the form of Glitter? Beads? Flower Soft? Glitter is the least favorite of items that I like to use. But I am committed to finishing all 4 challenges...guess that is why I am doing this one last-putting off using glitter.  I pulled out this Gala Glitz Gold  which I bought last year but have only used once. After using it today, I remembered why I have not used it again.  I also pulled out a stamp and die in my collection that has never been used. I wanted to make something different and guess I did that.  Stamped the wreath stamp, colored with Copics and cut with circle die and covered any white area with the glitter.  Attached to Kiwi Doily and then to green card base. Finished with a strip of paper at the bottom to which I added a sentiment and a stripe of glitter. Simply did this with placing Scor-Tape on the strip and sprinkled on glitter.

April Showers

 Yesterday was a day of April Showers and I was inspired to make this card for several challenges since it was not nice enough to play outside. This was one of  those cards that surprised me by turning out much better than I anticipated.  It was a joy to make because  this stamp always reminds me of my sister.  I paper pieced some of the design using pattern, solid, and glitter paper. Did you know it's hard to stamp on glitter?  I had to draw in some of the lines with a fine black pen after cutting out the pieces.  I used a sketch from The Pixie Cottage challenge and used cut out clouds and flower border from the paper pad that I used. Stamped the sentiment and cut out the cloud shape freehand and added a glitter edge.   Still trying to use some of my old stash, I remembered that I had the raindrops that I used outside and inside my card. Also I used some never inked stamps that were the perfect finish:  "A friend dances with you in the rain....and walks with you through the storm."

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge 148

Hello. It's my second week as the December Guest Designer for  Flourishes Timeless Tuesday.  Our challenge this week is brought to us by our hostess Makiko. Her challenge is Opposites Attract! She is asking us to "Use the same image and make two cards/projects with two totally different looks, styles,  themes or colors. For example, you can make one card CAS and one with lots of layers, one feminine and one masculine, monochromatic and lots of colors, for a child and adult, for birthday and sympathy, etc. Anyway you think they are totally different or opposite."
To make my two totally different style cards,  I decided to use the Flourishes stamp set "Warm Winter Wishes" as it is very cold here in Ohio and we are thinking about snow.
My first card I made with the Snowman image is a very Clean And Simple (CAS) card. I made it one layer ...that's as simple as it can get! I stamped the snowman directly onto white card stock and used a die to give an embossed design around the image. Colored the image with Copics ( pastel theme used)  and stamped on some snowflakes and the sentiment. I scored some lines on the edges to give a bit more texture. Added some white stickles to finish.

Snowy Delights Almost a Blizzard

Flourishes is having another release this week which means some fun challenges to win prizes. The Snowy Delights Challenge is to capture some of that snowy sparkle on our cards.We are to use glitter, Flower Soft, or any kind of bling that offers up a snowy feel. The winner will receive all the new releases.
My card features the snowman, snowflakes, and sentiment from Flourishes "Warm Winter Wishes" on a snowy background created with Distress Inks Broken China and Tumbled Glass on White Glossy CS. The Snowman was stamped with Versamark ink and embossed with Ranger White EP. I stamped some snowflakes and embossed them with  PSX Snowflake Embossing Tinsel. This really gave a lot of glitter and shine and was hard to capture in the photo. The sentiment was embossed with Zing Silver EP.  Edged the image and mat with a Pilot Silver marker.
Mat is BasicGrey from Figgy Pudding and base is Teal CS from stash. More glitter added to mat with Sakura Clear Star Pen. Added some stickles on and below snowman.  I think I may have overdone the effects on this card.....almost had a blizzard with all the snow!

Caroling Snowmen

When I made this card, I did not know that it was going to be so hard to capture the colors in a photograph to correctly show in my post. I used non traditional colors of brown and teal for the snowmen but the browns show more as a deep red. I used 2 images from Meljens Designs - Caroling Snowmen and Let it Snow. I colored the images with Copics and added some glitter with ClearStar Pen and used Black Glaze Pen on the noses. Used brads and photo holders on sentiment that I fancy cut.

Bling and Glitz

 Annabelle Stamps challenge this week is a sketch. I changed it a bit but the elements are all here. I used the poinsettia from Annabelle's "Squared Posies"I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black on ivory CS and trimmed. I colored with red Copics....those reds are so hard to color without bleeding when you do not use the right paper. Oh Well!! I sponged the image with Tim Holtz Distress Ink Crushed Olive.  Placed on a mat of Authentique Paper from "Wonder" pad. Attached this to a card base of Green Textured CS that I had a Red Satin ribbon wrapped around. Added a sentiment from Annabelle's "Stamped for Christmas"  that I heat embossed with Red EP and cut out freehand. Finished with those lovely Red Sprinkles from Annabelle and used Art Glitter Gala Glitz in the center of flower.

Card of Hope and Awareness

Since October is Breast Cancer  Awareness month, I included some pink in my card today.  I made this for the challenge at Joan's Garden - Create a card using something from nature, create a card using several layers, create a card using glitter, and create a card using a border around the card.  The hardest part of this card was using some glitter....glitter and I don't get along ....but I did an edge of glitter around the edge of the image with glue and loose glitter and also added some glitter to the flowers with a Sakura Clear Star pen which is hard to see. The Morning Glory stamp is from Flourishes "A Year in Flowers".  I thought the flower, butterfly  and the sentiment of "Hope" were all appropriate for this card.

Sparkle, Sparkle in My Card!

This card was made for several challenges including one that required sparkle so I wanted the sparkle to really shine in the photo which is often hard to do. In order to have a lot of sparkle that could be seen,  I glittered a strip of White shimmery CS with  a lot of crystal glitter to make sure I had that shine come across.  I also used Glitter DP and used a Sakura Clear Star pen to add shimmer to the swan and trees in the image and the sentiment.(Can you see that?)  I think this card shines bright with enough sparkle!

Lilacs Will Be in Bloom Soon

 The theme for Challenge #22  at Really Reasonable Ribbon is Violets & Lilacs & Plums. Oh My!
One of my spring time favorites lilacs will soon be in bloom and I love their fragrance.  My card shows a Lilac but no fragrance is included. I made this flower with a Sizzix punch that punches 3 sizes of flowers and one leaf. I punched  the multiple flowers in 3 different shades of violets and purple, 2 leaves in green, and arranged on a CS scrap with glue dots. I then trimmed the edge so I would have one assembled blossom to attach to the card with dimensional pop ups. I finished the flowers with pearl centers. The card base is the same green CS as my leaves and I layered it with glittery, sparkly patterned floral paper from DCWV. (Click to enlarge to see all the sparkle). Used a corner punch to round the edges of this mat and added a ribbon. Attached the Lilac to card and finished the Lilac with a lovely purple ribbon bow.

I decided not to stamp a sentiment directly on the card which would look crowded but  made a tag using a Spellbinder ribbon Tag Die that I layered with a stamped scrap  and added ribbon pull with a pearl. The tag slips in underneath the blossom.  Bottom photo shows tag pulled  out.

I plan to use this for a Mother's Day card and using a verse inside for Mother.

Celebrate in Style

Just having fun with this new stamp that I received free with a recent order from GKD. Makes a very girlie card.  Stamped the dress form on white CS, cut with oval die, sponged edge while in die, paper pieced the skirt, colored rest with copics, added some glaze to the bodice, added ribbon belt and rhinestone.
Used white card base and layered with a mat of glittery floral paper used in skirt. Cut edge of mat with scalloped punch and added looped ribbon underneath scallops. (Hard to see ribbon  in photo.) Finished with sentiment on fancy tag  and added pink rhinestones.

Birthday Card with Roses

One of the challenges that I look forward to each week is the one at Joan's Gardens. She has the most unique challenges. This week, she requires:
• Window Top Card ( an opening in the top of the card with the design on the inside) • Add three colors of flowers for the focal point. • A Birthday card

I combined this with other challenges. I found my inspiration from a patterned paper from Webster's Pages that I received from Joan's. I cut the window with Spellbinders Blossom die in the front of the card...layered the pattern over the ivory card base before cutting . Cut a frame of the ivory CS for the outside and inside of the opening. Made 3 roses of different colors using Heartfelt Creations Grandiflora Rose stamps. Shaped flowers and added some glitter and finished with glitter domes in centers. Cut branches with leaves and arranged these with roses on the inside of card. Finished outside with sentiment and some green rhinestones.

"Valerie's Gift" Surprise Blog Hop for Colleen



Welcome to my studio!  I am so happy to be a part of this hop in honor of Colleen's daughter, Valerie, who she lost in a one car black ice accident about ten years ago at the age of nineteen.  Fourteen of Colleen's blogging friends including myself  have joined together to make cards with the lovely stamp "Valerie's Gift", a very special stamp from Whimsy Stamps named after Valerie.

The stamp company chose to name this stamp that was released last year to honor Colleen's daughter and called it "Valerie's Gift" as they knew how much Valerie was a gift to her.

I chose the verse for my card because Valerie was such a blessing to Colleen, even though she was here on earth for only a short time. It was so much joy to make this card.  Colleen, I hope it will make you smile as well as everyone else who drops by.

Teddy With a Flower on a Gate Fold Card

Card Patterns has a great sketch this week as always...decided to make a gate fold card using that sketch and the Teddy with Flower stamp from LOTV.  Used some new paper from Basic Grey which I also used to finish the inside of my card which you can see below. First Birthday Card of the New Year

Welcome to my first birthday card post of 2011. I made this card and matching box using some new stamps that I received for Christmas. The new stamps are Heartfelt Creations HCPC2262 Grandiflora Rose and HCPC3319 Stems. For the card,  I stamped 3 roses of varying sizes using Versamark on GKD Lipstick Red CS and heat embossed with Clear EP. I cut these out with Nesties Blossom Dies that I have had for awhile but never used. I shaped the flowers and layered together using scor-tape. Added some glitter around the petals using Sakura Glitter pen. I stamped the leaves on green CS scraps also using Versamark and Clear EP. Cut these out and attached to the rose. I stamped the Birthday sentiment from GKD Fanciful Tags by Nina using Memento Rhubarb Stalk and SU Handsome Hunter inks. Cut this out with Spellbinder Fancy Tags but trimmed off the fancy ends. Assembled the card following Annabelle Sketch Challenge ABSC033 for January. Used GKD PL Ivory and Lipstick Red CS and Basic Grey Jovial Patterned paper for layers. Attached the rose and sentiment and finished with Green Rhinestone Bling. Love how this came together...can you tell the patterned paper was really designed as a Christmas paper?  But love how the colors look together.
I created the box from white and beige CS and made the rose same as one on the card.

A simple and easy card to say Thank You and to think of spring.  Stamps are from GKD "Spring Florals" and "Winter Wings". Crocus are colored with Memento Markers and highlighted with Sakura glitter pen. Used a scrap of Lilac Bazzill CS for mat and a scrap of stripe paper from My Momenta. Base card is also Bazzill CS. Edged stripe mat with Pilot Silver Marker...almost looks dimensional on card.

Countdown Challenges at Stamp TV

Welcome to my blog! I have been away from blogging over the Christmas Holiday but ready to resume some regular posting, at least posting when I can.  I hope that everyone had a lovely and safe holiday and that you were blessed with love and friendship. We had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed it tremendously.
Hope the snow did not disrupt too many of your plans.

I have been working on some projects for Stamp TV"s Year end Countdown challenges. Check it out here.  The is a seies of 10 challenge including techniques of Split Negative,  Faux Window, Distressed Newsprint, Adding a Button to a Bow, Shimmering Background Paper, Cracked Glass, Cuttlebugged Waxed Paper, and Rubberband Background and more to come.

Today I am showing my cards for the split negative:

 

I used Gina K Butterfly Stamp from Hope is Faith and sentiment from GKD Take Flight and Good Luck sentiment from Mark's Finest Papers. I used Ranger Black EP and Copper Pearl EP on GKD Black CS and  Copper metallic CS. Card on left has DCWV Metallic CS and right one has base of GKD Pumpkin Spice CS. Used Spellbinders Labels 1 and Fancy Tags.

Card that I made using a Faux Window:
Used bird and sentiment stamps from GKD Winter Wings by Asela...colored with Copic to be a Cardinal but may really be a Bluejay? Stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa and used Copics YR07,YR12, YG63,E25,R59,24,27,29,RV29. Used GKD Brown and Ivory CS and Basic Grey Jovial. Added glossy accents and ribbon.

Card for shimmering background paper:

Used Chickadee and sentiment stamps from GKD Winter Wings by Asela. Stamped  with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copics C00,1,3,9, E25,39,55. Cut image with Nesties oval and scallop oval. Embossed white mat with Cuttlebug EF Snowflakes and added shimmer with Sakura Clear Stars Pen. Added Frosted Lace Stickles and Glossy Accents to image.

A Merry Little Christmas

 I seem to be stuck on snowmen the last few days but I had to make this card for Paper Cupcakes' There's Magic in the Air Challenge.  Dru challenged us to make a Christmas card in the traditional colors "red & green".
There was a  Paper Cupcake image here you could download for free "A Merry Little Christmas" which I used for my card. Colored the image with Copics and gold glitter pen. Cut with circle die and matted on green circle mat. My base card is GKD All Spruced Up and the red mat is from stash. I embossed the red mat with Cuttlebug EF Snowflakes and sponged with SU Handsome Hunter ink and added glitter to snowflakes with Sakura Clear Star Pen.  Added some green ribbon to finish.
