Butterfly and Zinnias

Hi Friends!  This card is for the Creative Confetti Challenge-Make It With Metal. I used stamps from Power Poppy set Vibrant Thanks.  I stamped the zinnias, one of my favorite summer flowers, with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with Copics and used a Gelly Pen in the centers. Stamped the sentiment with Distress Oxide Ink Fired Brick. Used GKD Yellow and Grass Green cardstocks for the layers of my design.  Since butterflies are always flying around my zinnias, I added a metal butterfly charm (from my stash) for the metal element on the card.

Roses for Mom

Hello!  We are enjoying beautiful weather in Ohio.  Perfect for gardening...but too early for roses to bloom except on a card.  I used Gina K Design stamps from Tropical Blooms set for the roses and an older GKD stamp for the sentiment.  I used Versamark for stamping and heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder and then water colored with a water brush and Distress Inks Forest Green and Abandoned Coral. Added a charm that reads "Moms are all Heart" with metallic gold twine. Used a Coral cardstock mat and a Green base card.

Do You Thump?

Hello! I am back with a card using my fave colors of pink and green and a technique that I seldom use... "Thumping" which is to take a darker colored marker and start tapping or "thumping" on the image to add darker spots. 
I used the layout from Seize the Sketch and color inspiration from Cupcake Inspirations.

Let's Go Surfing

Welcome!  Today, I am posting a birthday card that I made for someone who will be celebrating her 18th birthday soon.  Since she loves surfing....she lives by the beach on Captiva Island, FL....I wanted to reflect her love of surfing and the beach.   I happened to come across a photo of her surfing and printed off the picture and edited it to look more like a watercolor with photoshop.  I started with a white card base, layered with a mat of blue embossed with ocean waves using a Sizzix Texture Pad, and layered with a 4x6 printed paper from DCWV Tahiti Beach Stack that has glossy glitter.  I cut the circle from another paper from the same stack and topped with the photo matted on a sea green card stock.  The circle and photo are attached with pop up dots. I finished with a Dolphin charm attached with a brad and the sentiment cut with Cricut from orange card stock.  The card measures 5.5" x 8.5". This is one of those cards that looks better in real life.

Wishes from the Heart

I seem to be into Valentine cards now. I made this card for some challenges including The Craft's Meow Monthly sketch challenge and Stamptacular challenge to use doilies. I began with a base card  of white, a layer of red that I embossed and then toppped that with a doily. I cut a lacey circle and stamped with Versamark and embossed with white ep and then wove a ribbon through the loops and tied off with a bow. To this I added a filigree heart charm and attached all to the center of the doily. I finished with a banner stamped with "Sweetheart".

Thinking Warmer Thoughts

 We have had more snow here in Ohio but my thoughts have shifted to the beach and warmer temps in this card.  I am trying to use some unused stamps and decided to use this sandcastle stamp which inspired me to create a summer card. I used the Sketch Challenge from What If? Wednesday. To add interest to the strips on the design, I used 3 different EF's instead of 3 colors or DP's. I also added a strip of flock to represent sand and a starfish charm.

Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge

Welcome to another Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge. This week we are asking you to use metal on your project.  I just love the  stamp set  "I'm In Stitches" recently released by Mark's Finest Paper and Stamps, a Heinrich Co.  The tomato and strawberry pin cushion is so cute and reminds me of the one I have and still use. I gathered up some of my sewing items -pins, needles, threads, spool charm, and thimble charm and combined with some old papers to make this card. One of the Pattern Papers I used is an old pattern design. To assemble the card, I stamped the pin cushion with red ink  and added some green. I cut this out and covered with Matte Accents. Started with Green card base, added polka dot mat edged with pinking shears, and layered with the "Pattern". Stamped the sentiment and tape measure.  Attached the pin cushion with foam dots along with the metal charms to top. I finished with the pins and needles and thread....now all ready to sew.

Butterflies in the Garden

This is my second card today.  Again,  I made this card for some challenges that must be entered today to make the deadline. I started with a sketch from The Pixie Cottage and used one of their stamps "Hannah with Butterflies" that I colored with Copics and Paper Pieced the dress.  I flipped the sketch  so Hannah sat on the right of card.

Sew....What's New With You?

I have  this stamp set "Sew What" that I bought from Mark's Finest Papers but have never inked it up. Thought it was time to put it to use for Speedy the Cat's challenge from Vicki who asked us to use a hat pin on our card . And then there were some other challenges to use embroidery floss, stitching, and other elements that I tied in with the card. I stamped the dress form and colored the skirt with copics and paper pieced the bodice. Added some embroidery stitches (chain stitch and french knot) with the floss and also a zigzag row(used paper piercing. ) along the strip of PP.  Finished with a ribbon and bow to showcase the hat pin and added scissors charm with a bit of floss. Used 2 more stamps to create the sentiment. Kind of a different card but was fun to assemble all the elements into one project.

Challenges:

Speedy the Cat's Friends Challenge: Use a hat pin. By the way, Vicki stuck us with the bad news that she was leaving Speedy's Challenge. It has been fun having her there and I'll miss her at Speedy's.

Our Creative Corner: Use embroidery floss.  I had to dig out my box of embroidery supplies for this one. Been awhile since I did any embroidery.
One Stop Craft Challenge: Theme is in stitches. Rather than use the sewing machine, I did my stitching by hand. 
Let's Ink It Up: Embellish it. Used ribbon, hat pin, and charm.
Lollipop Challenges: Recipe is 3 stamps, 2 Pattern Papers, and 1 embellishment.  May have overdone the embellishments but it does not say only  use 1 embellishment.
Craft Your Passion: Anything Goes...that's easy enough.
Simon Says: Use paper piecing or paper piercing. Use paper piecing on my bodice and also used paper piercing to make my zigzag line before stitching.
Stamp and Create: Use a charm or crown. Used a scissors charm.

May Flowers in a Springtime Garden

I love this stamp of Hannah sitting in the spring flowers. I am using her on this card for the sketch challenge at The Pixie Cottage. She is colored with Copics and has glaze on her boots and butterflies. Image was cut with Nesties circle die as well as the mat of PP. Added the ribbons, sentiment, and butterfly charm to finish.

Born to Be Wild Collage

I have never made a collage card but when Colleen at Speedy the Cat's Challenge asked that we make one, I was up for the challenge. I decided that I wanted to use some of the great wild animal stamps from Mark's Finest Papers that are so fun and when I found the perfect pattern paper in my stash, this card came together very quickly. I stamped the sentiment in the center as a focus in the darkest ink to make it stand out. I then stamped 4 additional images-elephant, giraffes, tiger eyes, tree- directly on my PP. I then added a giraffe print ribbon making a ruffle on the side. I stamped another sentiment on watercolor paper and tore it out and popped it up with dimensionals.  My finishing touches were the pearls colored with green Copics for the tiger eyes and a giraffe charm sewn on with twine.
