Crafting with Wine Corks

Hello!  Since I have been trying to use up some of the stash of items that I save, I decided to make use of some of the wine corks that I have been accumulating and make something for my fall decor.  I made Pumpkins using the corks with acrylic paint (bought this years ago at a clearance sale), green cardstock from stash, Green Washi tape, raffia ribbon, hot glue and gun, and some wire.  No items were purchased for this project since I had all the supplies on hand. For the smaller pumpkin, I used 33 corks plus 1 for the stem and used 48 corks plus 1 for the larger size pumpkin.  That's 88 bottles of wine!!

Coneflowers for a Friend

Hello! I have another card to post today....wanted to get one in for the challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches for Sketch #465 shown below.  I printed a Power Poppy digital Easy Breezy Coneflower on GKD heavy weight CS and colored it with Copics.  I used this paper because Copics do not bleed through and I can make it one layer.  I added a strip of Vellum stamped with a Power Poppy sentiment in Distress Oxide Ink Picked Raspberry that I heat embossed with clear EP so that it would not smear. Attached this to the card with Washi tape...first time I did that.  Now I guess this is not a one layer card but I would consider it CAS.

Other challenges to enter:

Fall Sunflowers

Hello! It is nice that we have cooler weather!  I am looking forward to fall and love the flowers of the autumn season.  My card today features a Sunflower stamp from GKD Always Autumn set.  I stamped 3 flowers on watercolor paper with Distress Oxide ink and colored with more of the Oxide inks. I fussy cut the flowers and arranged on a Shimmering Yellow Pearl CS base striped with Washi tapes and layered with an embossed Brown CS panel. Finished with GKD sentiment.  Oxide inks used were Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey, and Walnut Stain. The Washi tape was from a prize from Tuesday Morning Sketches.

Bird Cage Planter

Welcome!  The inspiration for my card today comes from the Photo for Just Us Girls Challenge shown below.  I was reminded of  Dies for a Bird Cage and Tropical Leaves that I have and used them to create this card.  I thought of seeing old bird cages being used as a planter.  Washi Tapes (colors from the photo) were used as stripes on lower edge.  Other supplies: GKD Stamps, Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide Ink, Clear EP,  Cheery Lynn Tropical Leaves and Olive Branch Dies, Marianne Dies, White CS, Blue CS's, Scraps of Green CS's.
For a touch of whimsy, I added a die cut bird looking up at his cage wondering "What happened to my house?"

Dad's Day

Hello! I'm back with a Father's Day card for my DH-the Dad of my Teddy Bears.  He loves his bears and his red wine....so I kind of combined the two.  Used a precut step card with a wine bottle stamp (won in 2014) from Repeat Impressions and other stamps from PSX and SU.  Heat embossed "Dad" on velum using Black EP  and used Memento Black ink for the rest of the stamping. Finished with Chevron Stripe Washi tape and some strips from Cork.

Easter Card with Printed Cellophane

Hello! Easter will soon be here so I am inspired to make Easter cards. I was thinking of the challenge at Stamp TV when I created this card.  I used a GKD Easter sentiment stamp with Memento Green ink stamped 3 times on white CS, GKD Grass Green CS, and a printed clear cellophane panel that was used for wrapping a pot of flowers.  I also stamped some foliage with GKD Handmade Botanicals stamp with the sentiments. Finished with a pink Washi tape.
Challenges:
Stamp TV: Mix It Up Monday Challenge-create a “EASTER” card/project…NO FLOWER CARDS. This was a stretch for me since I mostly have Flower stamps from GKD, but I did find an   GKD Easter stamp from a old set called Spring Florals.

Hello! I have again been playing with  From the Heart  stamps and Washi tape for the I (heart) Sketches with a Twist #148 sketch challenge. See below. The twist is to add Washi tape.  I am using digital stamps from Time to Bloom that I received to use in this Stamp of the  Month challenge at From the Heart.  I colored the floral images with Copics and sponged the background with Memento Pink ink.  I added some Dewdrops for interest.  I layered this with Red CS and placed on an Embossed (EF Swiss Dots) card base  striped with MME Washi Tapes.

How Old?

Hello! I have been playing with  From the Heart Digi stamps and Washi tape for the I (heart) Sketches with a Twist #148 sketch challenge. The twist is to add Washi tape.  The Surprised Birdbrain and Sentiment were printed and colored with Copics and a bit of Blue Glitter Gelly pen on the eyes.  Instead of matting the image, I wrapped some of the GKD Washi tape around the edges that  I also used on the card.  I happened, just by accident, to find a MME pattern paper that I thought coordinated well with the tape and the colors that I used. Arranged this on a Grass Green Card Base.  I was pleased at how this card came together.

Summer Fun Gate Fold Card

Hello! A fun summer event is going to the beach and collecting seashells,  This card is a bit different from my usual style but I was trying to convey a feel of summer and the beach using bright tropical colors on this Gate Fold card.  I came across this GKD Washi Tape (won in a GKD grab bag) and thought the colors were great with the Blue textured CS from my stash.
I used stamps from GKD Gifts of the Sea by Melanie for the shell and sentiment.  I trimmed the shell after stamping and  raised up the center with a bit of foam for dimension.  I used a real shell to hold the card closed.
Other supplies: GKD Soft Sand and Tomato Soup CS,  Memento Toffee Crunch ink, Versamark, Copper EP, Circle Die Foam Dots.

Oriental Birthday

Hello! Thanks for stopping by today.  Today I am sharing a very quick and simple one layer card.  I stamped 3 Chinese characters with words on White CS with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and trimmed with Rectangle Nesties and layered on Red CS cut with more Nesties.  My husband suggested I add some Washi tape for another Oriental element....he said "it is Japanese, isn't it?"  I finished with the sentiment which has an Oriental flair.  Stamps are from MFP's Asian Delight set.

A for Amarrylis with CAS

Today's card was made with a couple of challenges in mind....Speedy Fox and Friends theme  is The Letter A. Your image must begin with A or you must have an A in your Sentiment .  Less is More challenge is to use scallops.  I made this CAS card using an Amaryllis Stamp from MFP's colored with Copics and cut with a Nesties Scallop die. I placed this on an Ivory Base Card which I punched a Double Scallop edge with a Martha Stewart  border punch. Finished with a row of Washi Tape and Birthday Sentiment from MFP's in Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink.

Quick Washi Tag

At City Crafter Challenge blog, we are asked to use our washi tape on a tag and call it Washi "Tag".  I have this red and white tape that I have never used so I combined it with my homemade "Washi"  made with scor-tape and a black and white paper tissue paper that I trimmed and added to a white tag. Finished with some red rhinestones and a sentiment from Flourishes. Added the red ribbon.  Quick ad easy.

Fun with Tissue Paper

My card today uses tissue paper that I made into washi tape using scor-pal tape. I added an one inch strip to the front of card. I used half inch strips inside my card but forgot to photograph. I used the floral tissue paper shown as the backdrop behind the card. Needing an embellishment, I cut out the butterfly design from the same paper which I backed with tape before cutting it out. This resulted in a handmade sticker which I attached to the card.

Challenges to enter:
The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge: SSS191 shown.
Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge: #140-Use tissue Paper on project.

Making My Own Washi Tape

Card made with Homemade Washi Tape

According to the City Crafter Blog,  Washi tape is all the craze today.  You can buy from several sources or you can make your own which is what I did.  There are several tutorials and videos to learn how to do. Just google and find the way to make your own.   I viewed several "How To's" and made mine with tissue papers and Scor-Tape. I never throw away tissue papers from gifts or from wrapped purchases so I have a lot of tissue to use. On the left is a photo of some I made with half inch scor-tape and a 6"x6" square of scor-tape. They were all made with print tissue except the one with strawberries was white tissue that I stamped and colored.  I need to get some 1" tape which I think I'd prefer.
City Crafter is challenging us to use Washi or Tissue tape on our projects ... it can be store bought or handmade ... but there is a catch ...you are only allowed to use 2 other items with the tape on your projects!  On my card I used 2 strips of tape....a 1/2 " strip and a 2" strip that I made of a black and white pattern tissue paper. The paper is shown behind my card in the photo above. My 2 other items used are ribbon and a stamp.
