Bears Give the Best Hugs

I can not believe it is November and Christmas is fast approaching.  I am now turning my thoughts to Christmas cards.  I love this stamp of bears hugging  and the pattern papers both that I bought at Michelle's Scrapbooking and More Shop at Hartville Market Place but are also available at her online store. ( This is an unsolicted endorsement.)  The Pixie Cottage has 2 parts to their challenge and you can choose either or both to play along with. They have a sketch and/or  theme that is "Go For Gold" .  I decided to combine the 2 using the sketch shown aboveand used gold elements of metallic card stock as a mat on the base card of green cs but that does not show very well. I also gold embossed the image of  "You Give the Best Hugs",  The Pixie Cottage stamp and the sentiment from Creative Clear Stamps. I used strips of pattern paper from Authentique pad "Wonder".  I tried to show the sentiment as if the bear is holding it as a banner.Finished with some Annabelle's Red Sprinkles. Bear Hugs are the Best

I have yet another Bear Stamp.....this one is from The Pixie Cottage and is called "You Give The Best Hugs".  I used it in a card for The Pixie Cottage challenge which is a sketch with the theme option of  "Fussy and Fancy" to add embellishments, ribbons, lace, embossing, anything you like, just make it as fussy and fancy as you can! This may not be as fancy as it could be but I did not want to distract from the cute bears. I stamped (with Memento Rich Cocoa)) and colored the bears with Copics and used a scrap of terry cloth and Colorless Blender to give a furry effect.   I trimmed the image, rounded the corners and edged with Distress Ink Spun Sugar.  I made a square card using White CS as base and attached a mat of Basic Grey PP from Hopscotch paper pack. Added a square of Brown Textured sticker paper from stash and topped with the image. Added some pink heart buttons with twine and some pink rhinestones for bling.  Finished with a sentiment embossed with Zinc Chestnut EP using PSX Pixie Expressions stamp (very old). This card was designed using the Sketch below.

Mellow Yellow Tilda

At The Pixie Cottage, the challenge this week is a fabulous sketch and the theme is "Mellow Yellow".  You can use the sketch or the optional technique or both. Being adventurous I did both using a Tilda stamp from Magnolia---the first time I have made a card with Tilda.  I purchased the stamp at the new  Michelle's Scrapbooking & More (online here) store in Hartville Marketplace. I colored Tilda in Copics using yellows of course. I re-purposed a GKD stamp as a bench ( really part of a quilt hanger ). Thought she'd look kind of cute sitting there with that lovely paper in the background.

Butterflies in the Garden

This is my second card today.  Again,  I made this card for some challenges that must be entered today to make the deadline. I started with a sketch from The Pixie Cottage and used one of their stamps "Hannah with Butterflies" that I colored with Copics and Paper Pieced the dress.  I flipped the sketch  so Hannah sat on the right of card.

Lazy Summer Afternoon on the Porch

What better way to spend a summer day than swinging on the front porch with a glass of lemonade?  So stop on by. I have a glass of cool lemonade waiting on the porch railing.

I made this card with a stamp "Pleasant Porch" that I won from The Pixie Cottage. Love this stamp. Colored the image with copics and Jelli-Pens on the chains and sponged the sky and hillside with Momento Inks. Added a pillow that I drew, cut out and added the sentiment from a Flourishes stamp set. Papers are from stash.

The Pixie Cottage: Our theme this week is "Grab A Glass of Lemonade" The theme we are looking for is something yellow or lemony or just simply something to cool you down on one of these hot summer days!

Hannah in the Garden for Joan's Gardens

For this card I used a character stamp from The Pixie Cottage "Spring Time Hannah With Butterflies" by Sandra Hammer. I just love this little girl who is always shown with her back to us.

This week Joan's Gardens, the challenge #22 is to use a character ( preferably Magnolia or Sarah Kay) , some thing that sparkles, Nestie by Spellbinders - New if you have one, and a greeting.
I used the character, Hannah, and for sparkle I used  pattern papers with glitter and a Sukara glitter pen to highlight parts of the image and sentiment. I cut the image and mat with Nesties and used a birthday greeting. I used a sketch from ThePixie Cottage shown on the right.

Cardinal on a Snowy Day

One of the most beautiful sights in the winter is a bright red cardinal sitting in a snow covered tree. That is the scene that I tried to create in this card.

Winter Cardinal

I enjoy the Challenges at Joan's Gardens because they are so interesting and very challenging. This week, Joan's requirements are 1. Something from Nature but not flowers - Real or handcrafted (such as twigs, corn husks etc.) 2. Something Punched  3. Something Green and 4. A background for your focal point such as a Spellbinders Nestie
1.From nature,  I used a bird on a branch stamp and added a twig and some seeds from a pine cone.
2. I used a corner punch.
3. I used a green base card and a green mat.
4. Background of my image is mat cut with scalloped square nestie.
