What Are You Reading?

Challenge 16 at The Library Challenge

Hello!  I was inspired by Challenge 16 at The Library Challenge to design this card featuring a digital image of a piano by Lauretta's design that I had in my digital files.  The challenge is the book Oscar by Mauricio Segura about  the life of legendary jazz pianist Oscar Peterson' - the 'maharajah of the keyboard' .  Therefore my card features the Piano printed on White CS that I colored pink and then sponged with DOI Peeled Paint to give a distressed look similar to the look on the cover. I added 2 strips of CS with some musical embossing picking up other colors on the book cover.  I stamped a sentiment from Mark's Finest Papers with Black ink that was appropriate for the card.

Since I had printed the piano twice, I decided to make another card using a white background with a pink piano on a card base of black CS.  I added a sentiment from Raindrop Echo designs which seems to describe the music of Oscar Peterson.
Other challenge to enter:
Power and Spark Challenge: Hitting the books. Get inspired by anything related to books.  This card fits the challenge since I was inspired by the book Oscar. Sorry I did not use any Power Poppy stamps.

For fun I have included some music "All the Best" by Peterson.  Click on the arrow to listen:

Musical Anniversary Card

Hello!  I was inspired to make this card for the challenge at Allsorts with the theme of Music.  I used a scrap of Patterned Paper with Gold Foiled accents from a magazine freebie  and a card base of Metallic Gold CS (looks like Kraft in photo).  Note the words on the paper says "Something for you, something for me."   I stamped the GKD Guitar and Sentiment on Ivory CS with Versamark, heat embossed with Gold EP,  and then die cut. Assembled on the Metallic Gold CS base and added a border of Shiny Metallic Gold to finish.  This will be used as an  anniversary card in October.

Challenge:

Music is Love

Hello!  Playing today with GKD background stamp Petite Flowers and stamps and die from You Have My Heart set.   I decided to use the sketch from Sketch Saturday to create a musical theme card.  I used the background stamp with Memento Bamboo Leaves on white CS and layered this with a Fresh  Asparagus panel stamped and heat embossed with the sentiment. The edge of the green was punched with a scallop border and lined with white CS.  Added a Guitar stamped on Kraft CS and cut with a die.  I thought I had some die cut Musical Notes  in my stash but could not find them.   So I improvised an embellishment....I emboss a scrap of Vellum with a portion of a CB embossing folder Allegro.  Inked the raised area with black ink and heat embossed with Clear EP.  Fussy cut 2 sections to use for my finishing touches.

Strumming a Love Song

Hello!  Time to think about Valentine cards for those we love.  I created this design with Gina K's stamps and dies from the new Hearts and Flowers kit.   I stamped both the guitar and fancy heart on white CS with Black ink and colored with copics.  I tried to color the guitar with a wood grain look.  I cut both out and layered with die cuts from Black CS. I embossed a layer of GKF Red Velvet CS with Cuttlebug Allegro EF for the background which I also stamped and heat embossed with a Gina K sentiment from the set.  I finished by arranging the Guitar and Heart with more hearts cut from red and black CS.  Attached to a card base of GKD Black CS.

Shake, Shake, Shake

Hello!  Today I have a shaker card to share....not one of my favorite type of cards because I always have a difficult time photographing to show the items in the shaker window.  But they are still fun to make.   I made this one for the Mix It Up Monday challenge Shake, Shake, Shake at Stamp TV.  Since I am on a quest to use products and stamps that I seldom use or never used,  I began by selecting what I would use in the shaker from some old stash of confetti.  When I found these musical notes, I decided to go with a musical theme.  I found this GKD Label stamp in the Lovely Labels 2  set as well as the sentiment to go with my theme and also pulled out Cuttlebug EF Allegro to create my card with Red and White CS, GKD Black Onyx ink,  circle dies, a circle of acetate and a foam sheet.   The result is shown above.

For this shaker, instead of using foam tape  I used a panel of white foam cut slightly smaller than the white panel and cut out a circle for the window.  The foam was taped between the card base and top layer.  I used a die machine to cut the circle from the foam but next time I think I will cut by hand as the foam was flatten a bit by the machine.

Hello! I have been playing again with this Tree stamp from GKD Joyful Holiday set.   I love the way that this looks with Gold Embossing and paired it up with a gold foil accented pattern cardstock  on an Ivory card base.  To add more gold I edged the layers with Pilot Metallic Gold Marker.  Easy Peasy!

Note Card with Music

I am back with another Black and White creation for Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge #258. I used stamps from MFP stamp set Just A  Note with Versafine Onyx Black ink on white CS and attached to a Black card base.  This makes a great note card....may  have to do a set for a gift.  I had to try a couple inks before I was happy with the results with Versafine ink.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comments.
Have a great day!
