Vintage Santa

Hello!  Sometimes a card comes together so quick and easy and some of the simplest cards are the hardest.  This one was very easy once I found the digital vintage image from TLC by Paulette that I had stored in my files.  I printed the image on white CS and after I trimmed it with a white margin, I distressed the margin with Distress Ink Antique Linen and the edges with a distressing tool.  I found just the right Pattern Paper from an old Webster's Pages pad and used a mossy green card base.  I wrapped the Coppery Gold Organza ribbon around the image before attaching to the base.  Something about this ribbon was just perfect in my eyes.  I was not going to add a verse but remembered this stamp from Gina K Designs Joy and Peace set and thought it had a vintage ring to it.  I stamped in the upper corner...perfect fit...with SU Always Artichoke ink.  I plan to use this image for more cards but will try using water color paper to see if I like better.

Love Birds

Today is a cloudy day on the island in Florida so I am making some cards for the challenges on my list to do.
This card is for a sketch at Sweet Sunday and the Feathers and Fur Challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow to do a vintage or shabby chic card to feature birds or furry animals. I chose to use this vintage bird graphic from Create with TLC . I simply printed the image and tore the edge and distressed with ink. I used a GKD Leather card stock for the base to which I layered a mat of MME Script Pattern Paper embossing the lower part with Cuttlebug EF Forest Branches. I added some strips of GKD Stripe Paper and attached  cut out pieces of a doily. The sentiment is from Flourishes stamped with Memento Espresso Truffle.
Challenges:
Sweet Sunday: Sketch shown on left
Sugar Creek Hollow: Made vintage card with birds
Anything Goes Challenge: Vintage/Shabby Chic
Shopping Our Stash: Create a Birthday Theme
Alphabet Challenge: A for anything with wings.

Hope everyone had a lovely Valentine Day. Guess I am still thinking about love birds.
I enjoy all your comments. Thank you. Theresa

Vintage with Ribbons

I made time today to quickly make a Vintage Christmas Card to enter at Sugar Creek Hollow and a couple of more challenges before time runs out. I kept this very clean and simple with little embellishments other than ribbon. I used vintage looking pattern paper and a colored digital image from Create with  TLC.  Why do I always feel I am cheating if I use an already colored image? But I did age the the image with a bit of distressing and also the background.  Added the satin ribbons as I think they add to the vintage look.

Vintage Thanksgiving

Vintage cards are great for Thanksgiving cards especially when I have a great image to use that does not need coloring.  I just aged this digital image from Create with TLC with some distress ink and a distress tool. My background is a Digital "Old Paper"" from Graphics Fairy which I also distressed with ink and a tool.  Finished with the sentiment and a wide wired ribbon with ombre colors that matched the colors in my card.  Does the corn image make you think of the first Thanksgiving?

Vintage Children

The challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is Vintage Children and the sponsor is Create with TLC, one of my favorite sources of digital images especially vintage ones. I knew I had to use one of Paulette's digis and I chose "My Babies" from my file of her downloads. I think the colors,"homespun" looking pattern paper and sheer ribbons contribute to the vintage feel of my card so I did not use a lot of layers and embellishments. This is almost a clean and simple design. Colored with Copics and sponged and distressed with Distress Inks. Embossed and highlighted a sentiment. Think I may have got the hair color a little too yellow. Need to work on coloring Blondes but I  just had to make her a blonde.

Supplies:
Digi Image: Create with TLC
Papers: K&CO Pattern, Cardstock from My Stash
Copics:B0000,000,C00,1,3, E0000,00,07,11,31,50, G20,21, R0000,00,01,21, Y11,13, 38
Ranger Distress Ink: Spun Sugar, Tea Dye, Antique Linen
Nesties Circle Die
Cuttlebug EF With Love Border

Vintage Santa

This was a quick card to make since I used a color vintage image of Santa Claus from Paulette's Create with TLC that I downloaded some time ago. I have been wanting to use this image and it goes just great with these papers from Authentique "Wonder" pad  and BasicGrey "Jovial" pad. I cut the image with an oval die and placed it on a doily from my stash that I distressed with Wild Honey Distress Ink. Stamped a GKD Sentiment with Versamark and used Ranger White EP. Assembled the card and added MS Pearls,  Organza  Ribbon Bow, and some plastic sprigs of holly that I just happened to have.

Challenges:
Sugar Creek Hollow: Use both stripes and spots on vintage, shabby chic or primitive card or other paper-crafted project. Stripes are in the border of mixed patterns on left of the card and spots on the mat under the doily.
Saturday Challenge Secret Crafters: Theme is Spot and Stripes.
Really Reasonable Ribbon:  Challenge #36 is CAS (Clean & Simple) Christmas plus Ribbon. This was a very simple card to make.
Tuesday Throwdown: Challenge #75 is lots of circles. Lots of circles in the Paper and Doily.
Truly Scrumptious: Christmas projects with pearls or vintage. Mine has both.
Even though this was a easy project, I really like the vintage look and richness of the colors.
I enjoy all your comments. Thank you. Theresa

Lil Witch

The challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is to make a vintage, shabby chic or primitive card featuring Vintage Children.  I downloaded this digi image "Vintage Lil Witch" from Paulette at Create with TLC sometime ago. I think this is a perfect image to use. I colored it with copics and sponged the background and cut out with a die. This was placed on an orange dotted mat. For the base, I sponged an orange CS with distress inks to soften the color and distressed the edges.  I used another dotted DP and a doily for the background to which I also added distress ink. After assembling the card, I added some sheer ribbon. I am not sure if this vintage or maybe shabby chic?

Challenges:
Sugar Creek Hollow: Vintage Children
Kaboodle Doodles Challenge: Use a doily
Critter Sketch: Anything goes.
Paper Pretties: Fall Inspired
Scrap Creations: It's a Girl Thing.
Really Reasonable Ribbon: Autumn Theme
Michelle's Scrapbooking & More: Anything Goes

Cooking Up with Vintage

The challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow wants us to create a vintage, shabby chic or primitive inspired card and play TIC TAC TOE according to the game board shown below. Since I received a lot of feedback and encouragement from my vintage card last week, I am back to try another one. I chose to play the top row using lace, buttons, and diecuts on my card.

I used digital images- a freebie from Create with TLC and sentiment from Meljens. I colored the image  with copics and pencils, trimmed it amd placed on a mat cut with a die. Also cut the sentiment with a tag die that I modified. Added some aging and distressing to all layers with distress ink. My button and lace are very old that I added.  I used a sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday for my layout.
Supplies:
Digis: Freebies From Create with TLC  "Vintage Cooking" by Paulette and Meljens Designs "Kiss the Cook"

Fall and Pumpkins

There seem to be a lot of autumn/fall challenges both in theme and colors as well as vintage challenges. I have combined several of these challenges and came up with this card.
I started by downloading  this lovely vintage image from Create at TLC "Preparing the Pumpkin" ...Thanks to Paulette who has so many lovely images that she shares with us. I colored the image with Copics trying to stay with "vintagey" colors almost faded looking. I matted this on a pumpkin spice CS on which I distressed the edges as I did on all the mats. Used the same color as the base card. On the bottom mat I stamped a crackled look with distress ink. I used a pattern paper that I also distressed with ink....almost too much since I almost lost the pattern...hope you can see the floral pattern. This went atop another mat of pumpkin spice. Found this very old lace in my collection and wrapped around in a twist...did not need much distressing since it already had that vintage look. Added the copper pearls and used pop up dots to raise the image above the lace.

Challenges that I plan to enter:
Speedy the Cat's Friends Challenges: Use a pumpkin on your card.
City Crafter Challenge: Use sketch shown on right.
Beary Sweet Challenges: Go vintage.
Stamp Something: Use fall colors.
Going Grey with Scrap Creations Challenge: Theme is fall.
Alphabet Challenge: V is for vintage.

All About Family in the Jungle

For this card I used a sketch challenge from Limelight Papercraft with a focus on tags.
I started with a digi image from Create with TLC that was a freebie from Paulette. I am using the giraffes to tie in with a challenge from Really Reasonable Ribbon.
I colored the image with Copics...what a job with all those spots....and sponged the background with blue and green. Found some pattern paper in stash that reminded me of Africa .. cut a strip for the edge with decorative scissors with a crocodile pattern...appropriate for the jungle theme. Assembled card on solid CS for base and added a ribbon that I thought was perfect for the colors....kept it simple with the lines of the card.  Punched tag out of the pattern paper and added a rub on sentiment. Tied on with twine.

Challenges:
Limelight Papercrafts: Use Sketch shown to right with focus on Tags
Really Reasonable Ribbons: Create a project inspired by the picture of the jungle shown.
Scrap Creations:  Go digi.
Lollipop Crafts:  All about family...this digi is about family.
Stamp Something: Go digi

Digital Image: Create with TLC "Giraffe Vintage"
Copics: E25,49,53,55, YR14
Ink: Memento Summer Sky and New Sprouts
Papers: Unknown Pattern
            GKD Pumpkin Spice and White
Rub ons: 7 Gypsies
Ribbon and Twine from stash

This was a fun challenge card to put together!
Hope you enjoy.

Books Make the Best Friends

Many times when I make a card I select the DP first and paint a image to go with the colors of the paper. This time I colored the image and then selected the paper.... I believe this paper is a perfect match to my image...not only the colors but love the vintage look of the floral print with the vintage image of the girl reading by the window. She looks to be from the late 1800's or early 1900's by the way she is dressed. I love her sailor dress with the petticoat and her accessories. I imagine she is on a summer holiday at the beach and loves to read...her books are her friends when she is away from home and friends. Over her shoulder you can see the beach.
This vintage image is a freebie digital from Paulette from Create with TLC. Love her great digital images.  I colored with Copics and sponged the wall background. I cut the image and green mats with nesties and assembled card using a sketch from Midnight Madness. Added some flowers that I cut out on the reverse side of  DP with pop ups. I think the sentiment is a nice finish for the card.

Challenges:
Cupcake Craft Challenges: Theme is Books and Stories
Midnight Madness Sketch: Sketch #70 shown on right
Creatalicious Challenges:  Vintage- I used vintage image.
One Stop Craft Challenge:  Fashion throughout the years
Scrap-Creations: A children's  theme creation

Go and Make a Splash!

I have found a wonderful blog, Create with TLC  where Paulette creates  such great Word Art that can be used for Digi Scrapping or Digi Stamping and wonderful digi images. Paulette says, " Have a digi addiction? This is the place for you." I am amazed by her work!!! Do check out her blog and  store.
She has a challenge today....you can download a School of Fish  or the individual Fish or both for free. Use them in a project, post the project on her blog using the inlinkz button and be entered to win a $6.00 Gift Certificate to her Store. But work quick because her challenges do not stay open long.

I made this card using School of Fish, Large Fish and a sentiment all downloaded from Create with TLC which I printed on white cardstock and colored with pencils and OMS and sponged with SU inks. I used  Basic Grey pattern papers from Max and Whiskers Matstack and a base card of SU Marigold Morning. Added some vinvl dots to highlight the bubbles and some glitter to the fish. This will be a card to send my nephew who is graduating with his Master's Degree in Business this month.

Go have some fun at Create with TLC.
